00:00The accelerated deterioration of the polar regions is once again raising concerns about the global climate crisis, according to a
00:07new report presented in China.
00:09Our correspondent, Bruno Fossey, with the story.
00:14Greetings, comrades. Here from Beijing, the China Meteorological Administration released a report on Wednesday,
00:22examined the state of the polar regions during the year of 2025, once again placing climate change at the center
00:32of the global agenda.
00:34The report highlights that both Arctic and Antarctic remain highly vulnerable to the ongoing effects of the global warming,
00:44with continued declines in sea ice and persistently rising temperatures.
00:50In the Arctic, sea ice reached its lowest level since satellite records began in 1979,
00:59while in Antarctica, levels remain below historical averages, reflecting a broader pattern of a long-term weakening.
01:09The document also noted rising concentration of greenhouse gas in both polar regions,
01:17reinforcing concerns over the acceleration of climate change at a planetary scale.
01:24Among the key events recorded are a significant hot wave in Greenland,
01:30which triggered accelerate ice melt and unusual rainfall in parts of Antarctica.
01:38Both see as a sign of growing climate instability.
01:45This development suggests that climate change is not only a gradual process,
01:51but is increasingly expressed throughout more frequent and extreme weather events,
01:58intensifying global debate on shared responsibility.
02:03With these news from here, the capital of China, we go back with you in the studios.
02:08Hello, I'm going back to you in the show.
02:09Thanks Benny.
