00:00We are now taking a break. We are continuing with more information. The
00:03organization Doctors Without Borders warned of the serious humanitarian crisis in
00:08Haiti and urged the U.S. government not to revoke temporary protected status.
00:12According to the organization, the rise in violence by armed groups and the
00:16collapse of basic services make the country unsafe for the first return of
00:20the more than 350,000 Haitians residing under this program. The warning comes
00:26amid a proceeding initiated in the Supreme Court where the Trump administration
00:30seeks to end temporary protection status, arguing that the security conditions
00:35allow for return.
00:45And more on Haiti, the Association of Journalists reported on Thursday two
00:50journalists had been kidnapped in Port-au-Prince, the country's capital, allegedly
00:54by armed groups that control large parts of the city. The victims were attacked
00:59while carrying out journalistic work near the Silvio Cator Stadium. The union
01:03demanded their immediate release and call on Haitian authorities to strengthen
01:08security measures in a context where the media and its workers are among those
01:12most affected by the violence. They also warned that the crisis, which has worsened
01:17since 2018, has resulted in the murder of journalists, media outlets under attack, and
01:22growing restrictions on the press in areas controlled by armed groups, where freedom
01:26of expression clearly does not exist.
