Haiti extends state of emergency and nighttime curfew

Haiti's government announced on Thursday it was extending a state of emergency and nighttime curfew, in an attempt to curb the gang violence and protests plaguing the country.

00:07 the 3rd of April. During the emergency period, all public demonstrations are prohibited and

00:12 offenders will be detained.

00:14 But gang violence continues, as do calls for the replacement of the country`s government,

00:21 in particular Prime Minister Ariel Henry.

00:23 Dozens of people have died in Haiti`s recent gang attacks, including several police officers.

00:28 The violence has left more than 15,000 people homeless.
