00:01The report recognises the deteriorating threat environment in Australia and also notes that
00:10this was identified to our relevant security and intelligence agencies at the highest levels.
00:17So there are no gaps in our legal framework or our policies which have prevented agencies
00:24from taking action and the report clearly focuses on the need for greater coordination between
00:31our agencies. There are recommendations around improved information sharing and also higher
00:38security presence at Jewish events especially those in public places and we welcome all those
00:44recommendations. But this is only part of the picture. Bondi did not happen in a vacuum and over
00:52the last couple of years we have seen an alarming rise in both the nature and frequency of anti-Semitism.
00:59Jewish Australians being doxxed, harassed online, excluded and intimidated at universities,
01:07in their own workplaces. We have seen people in all walks of life being intimidated, harassed,
01:17excluded, alienated and feeling like they don't belong in this country and that they are not
01:22safe in this society. So we welcome the recommendations and next week we will see
01:29the beginning of the hearings where we will hear Jewish Australians talk about their experiences
01:34experiences and bring this to life.
