A bold gorilla has left viewers stunned after appearing to “flip the bird” during an up-close wildlife encounter.
The amusing moment was captured by wildlife guide and photographer Nick Kleer, 38 from South Africa, while trekking through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
In the clip, the gorilla casually raises its middle finger in what looks like a very human gesture before continuing on unfazed.
Nick, who has spent over 16 years working in wildlife guiding, says moments like this highlight just how similar gorillas can seem to humans despite their immense strength and wild nature.
Nick said: “These animals are fully wild and free, living in a carefully managed system where tourism supports the surrounding communities.
“It’s a remarkable model where the gorillas themselves effectively drive conservation funding and local benefit.
“Being with them is something out of this world. It’s absolutely extraordinary.
“It’s not like being with any other animal… the way they look at you, the sense of presence you feel around them."
