00:01who loves french fries me yum i mean like just the best the best food right and is there anything
00:08better than a french fry that you've stolen off your partner's plate no it tastes so much better
00:15it does yeah and and that is actually backed by science really we now know for a fact that eating
00:21food off of someone else's plate stealing food from someone else tastes better than if it had
00:28just been on your plate to begin with that's fascinating and i asked shannon to come in here
00:33to talk about this because shannon and her boyfriend sam do something unusual i mean i think it's unusual
00:41but i'm sure there are a lot of people who do it so maybe it's not that unusual when you
00:45guys go out
00:45for dinner yeah we split our meals um uh you know i'll order something and he orders something but
00:53we kind of agree to order those two things we'll eat a little bit of it and then switch plates
00:58now if we're really lucky this happened one time at a restaurant and it blew our minds
01:05they separated the meal for us we're like we're gonna split the steak and salad and they put it on
01:12two separate plates for us so we didn't have to like okay i'll eat a little bit of this and
01:17it was
01:17like equally split right down the middle i could eat as much as i want he could that's 30 tip
01:23right
01:23there baby it's a beautiful idea i i just feel like though if i start my meal and i really
01:30like it
01:31i'm gonna have a hard time only eating half of it and then passing it across the table that can
01:36be the
01:36hard part because emily and i do the same thing she'll usually get a salad and i'll get like a
01:41chicken sandwich or a burger or something like that and then we will split halfway through now what
01:46are you more likely going to want to eat the entire thing the heartier meal like what i got versus
01:51like eating a whole big entree salad so i run into the issue like you're saying all the time
01:56andy where i'm like well now i don't want to eat lettuce i don't right i want to finish this
02:01juicy
02:01burger yeah but i came into an agreement on april 30th 2022 when i married that woman i've done it
02:08before i've shared but uh just like joey tribiani said in friends joey doesn't share food no so yeah no
02:15but i'll bet that the french fries that you steal from his plate tastes better than anyone else's
02:19yeah and and they would be more fun it's like the forbidden fruit i mean the story is all this
02:25time
02:25you want what other people have of course maybe i didn't want french fries before but when i see
02:30him piping hot on your plate i'm gonna go are you ever i mean look some restaurants give you
02:37way too many french fries and i'm sure some people do finish their plate but i'm like oh my god
02:42i'm overwhelmed by how many french fries are on this plate so it's nice taking that from someone
02:47else's plate knowing i don't have to finish it i can just enjoy one fry at a time yeah they
02:53say that
02:53it's it's actually the sneakiness of it of stealing it actually does something it changes perceptors in
03:00your brain so that it does taste differently than if those fries were on your own dish i just want
03:05to
03:05set the record straight shan i understand what you're saying but i've never felt that a restaurant
03:09gave me too many fries i look at that as something to accomplish and i always win i always bring
03:16them
03:16home even though i know i'm not gonna go back and eat those you can't reheat it is my grandmother
03:22she's
03:23she tells me in my head she's like hey take everything home yeah yeah get home well eat it in
03:28the car at least right i just we always bring french fries home they sit in the fridge for one
03:33day and i'm
03:34i'm in the trash in the next you're never gonna yeah worse
03:37you
