00:05On the third anniversary of the start of the civil war in Sudan, the situation remains dire.
00:12Since April 15th of 2023, tens of thousands of people have been killed.
00:16Roughly 65% of the country's population needs urgent humanitarian support.
00:21The country's economy has all but ground to a halt.
00:24With livestock feeds soaring and marketplaces shuttering, farmers and herders are struggling to survive.
00:35Since the conflict broke out, many livestock markets have been forced to close, including this one.
00:41It's not safe for any customer to come here.
00:43So we are here to try to make it more convenient for the citizens.
00:51UN representatives have called on the international community to assist.
00:56In this regard, China and the UN Food and Agricultural Organization have launched an initiative to establish animal disease control
01:03networks
01:04and to promote improved planting and breeding techniques in the country.
01:07We are targeting around 1.5 million households with agricultural inputs, in particular seeds,
01:17and also over 9 million, around 8.9 million livestock to be targeted for vaccination.
01:29At the end, I would like to thank the generous contribution from China Aid.
01:37Continuous fighting and a fragmentation of authority between the government's Sudanese Armed Forces
01:42and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have created the world's largest humanitarian crisis,
01:47with some 34 million people in need of urgent aid.
