A 31-year-old man has appeared in court in Bunbury over an alleged carjacking, involving a mother and her two-year-old son.

00:01The woman's ordeal began here, on Dal Yallop Road, just south of Bunbury.
00:07Police say the 23-year-old woman and her 2-year-old son were driving around 7.30pm on Sunday

00:15when they came across a trail bike on fire in the middle of the road.
00:19When she stopped, police allege a 31-year-old man approached her vehicle and forced his way in.
00:25It's alleged he forced her to drive to several locations in the suburbs of Dal Yallop and Carey Park, where
00:32he got out.
00:33The woman's toddler was sitting in the car throughout, but neither the woman or her son were injured.
00:39Spencer James Thorne was arrested on Monday and appeared in Bunbury Magistrates Court this morning,
00:45facing one count of deprivation of liberty.
00:47Mr Thorne was heavily bandaged and interrupted the magistrate multiple times.
00:52In one instance, he said that prosecutors had got it wrong, pointing to his injuries,
00:57insisting he had just asked the woman to drive him to his mother's house.
01:01Mr Thorne was on bail when the alleged incident occurred and did not reapply today.
01:06He is due back in court next month.
