00:08Oh
00:53When we were young, at that time, they didn't buy so much market,
00:58they didn't buy so much, they didn't buy so much, they didn't buy so much, they didn't buy so much,
01:05they didn't buy so much, they didn't buy so much.
01:11So, from there, I met all the plants.
01:19And the farm farm is the most close to the serrania,
01:23where the serrania begins, we only have vegetation, at the bottom of the farm is only vegetation.
01:33Let's say that Yona Yudit and others, Neider, Nayibe and Don Coco, they know a lot about the territory and
01:46the plants that are here.
01:47So, what they tell us is like, this plant is used for this plant, or this hong.
01:52We take the register of those uses, we go down the plant, because we need to have a reference collection,
02:01that is, that the use is related to a botanical exemplar.
02:12And, well, they do very long trips, until 5 or 6 in the afternoon.
02:17Once there, they press all the materials, they guard, they classify,
02:22and the day ends at 12 o'clock, at 11 o'clock.
02:49But these journeys, let's say that other biological experiments,
02:54the center of the study is the plants and animals, but here it is also connected to the people's knowledge.
03:02The idea of the social component is to realize the history and the reality that is happening in the territory,
03:08and one also to understand that when you go to the biology,
03:11it is not only studying the plants and the forest,
03:14but that those social dynamics implican many other complexities,
03:17and something that we want to see from the Institute,
03:20is that it is not only to close a piece of the forest,
03:25and say that they cannot access this piece,
03:27and so we are preserving it,
03:29but that it is not to let the people use the forest,
03:32and understand that the uses are also conservation.
03:50The context is that here have been a lot of dynamics that have happened in the whole country.
03:55Generally, the extractivism begins, right?
03:58What is happening is that the people who have small lands that have lived in the area,
04:03let's say, for many years,
04:05sometimes they fall, let's say,
04:07let's say, the law's rigor is very strong to destroy a tree to subsist,
04:12while from the Magdalena to the Medio,
04:15to the Medio, to the Deforesting of the Garnier that has not controlled as it should be.
04:30Including the issue of biodiversity we also allow us to understand
04:34that the landscapes are being transformed
04:35and that people need to live from these landscapes,
04:39that the subsistence is one of the basic and fundamental needs of local communities
04:44and that we can't be behind the needs of using the resources of the territory.
04:51And food allows us to show the versatility that the resources have
04:55to provide solutions to multiple problems.
05:19We live in the way that my family, my brothers, my siblings, they like to cook.
05:26That's a descent, because our aunts and our mother, who brought us to the world,
05:31were very cooks. The lady did a lot of things, with the corn, with everything.
05:37Here, particularly, this relationship man and nature is very interesting,
05:43because they are communities that have been living a long time,
05:47with nearby forests, from which they take all their resources,
05:52from which they obtain elements to subsistence.
05:58So, it's very interesting the use that they give to plants, to hongos,
06:03which are not only for food, but also for materials, such as medicine.
06:17And sometimes, in the imagination of the people,
06:21the hongos that are endemic or that are in danger, but they exist.
06:26And, let's say, it's something that we still have to do a lot,
06:30because the biggest focus has been made in animals and, in second place, in plants.
06:34But, we still have to be rezagged in the issue of the risk of extinction of the hongos.
06:40That they are smooth and also know in which stalks they are,
06:44because in all stalks they cannot be consumed, and know in which stalks they are.
06:52So, the idea is to be able to know more these species,
07:02to make sure that, in long term, there may be productive chains
07:06around these products that do not deforestation so much.
07:09So, if there is a parallel market of products that are not so sensitive,
07:13the idea is to be able to control the deforestation,
07:17but it cannot be to the bad ones, because all these forests have been inhabited
07:21for centuries, perhaps.
07:25For that, we wanted to choose three areas in which we could find
07:31characteristics that were important for us,
07:34such as having a relatively high biodiversity and with a potential of use,
07:40as well as a social problem that we could identify.
07:44For example, that are coming from a problem of conflict armament,
07:50some problems of poverty, inequality, etc.
07:55And we chose three areas in the pilot,
07:57which are the municipality of Bahia Solano, in the Chocó,
08:01the municipality of Otanche, in Boyacá,
08:03and the municipality of Becerril, in the Cesar.
08:06And what we want to do is, throughout the time,
08:10to be able to see if we can contribute
08:13to improve the life of the communities in these three pilot areas
08:19that would be using biodiversity in a sustainable way
08:23to find alternatives to income.
08:26For me, it is a satisfaction because many people,
08:30of course, they will have a benefit,
08:33a benefit to be able to cultivate the Bore, the Choncle,
08:37and the Malanga.
08:39Those that really are from our region,
08:42to be able to sell them, to be able to make special dishes.
08:47For me, it is like to come back to the old ones,
08:50to remember the old things that did our grandparents.
08:54From there, we have learned to make many favorite dishes
08:58from here in the sector.
09:00The idea was to share them with all of you
09:02and learn from what you bring us.
