00:00:00Previously on Rock the Block, the teams bet big on their main living areas.
00:00:05The great room, foyer, and den.
00:00:08This is exciting.
00:00:10Week one winner Scott and Brooke nearly folded.
00:00:13This is bad.
00:00:14Well, it's going to go from bad to worse.
00:00:16Mina and Vernon hatched their plan, focusing on heads and beds.
00:00:20Because it has the closet, it's now technically a bedroom on the appraisal.
00:00:25Kim and Chelsea double down on their smoky, sexy vibe.
00:00:28And we'll just do the tile, literally, wall to wall.
00:00:31While Tanya and Drew went all in, creating a secret showstopper.
00:00:36Every house needs a signature moment.
00:00:38This is the house with the speakeasy.
00:00:40Two-time Rock the Block champion Michelle Smith-Boyd returned to judge their spaces.
00:00:44This is a player move.
00:00:46This is good.
00:00:47That's great design.
00:00:48And crowned the week two winners.
00:00:50Kim and Chelsea!
00:00:54Now, they're tied with Scott and Brooke at one win apiece.
00:00:58In week three, the competition roars into the heart of the home.
00:01:02I've never cried over a hood before.
00:01:04I'm putting my appraiser hat on, and we could have a problem here.
00:01:07This has to be the best moment of your life.
00:01:09It's up there.
00:01:10This was not cheap.
00:01:12This is the spot that has to be amazing.
00:01:14And HGTV superstar Paige Turner arrives to judge.
00:01:18This built-in bookshelf is a winner for Paige Turner.
00:01:21This is a full-second kitchen.
00:01:23There's no cabinetry in there.
00:01:25I'm not digging this.
00:01:34Good morning, designers!
00:01:37How's everybody holding up after the first couple of weeks from the block?
00:01:41Good!
00:01:42No complaints.
00:01:42So, how about a big congratulations to Kim and Chelsea on their big win of the Great
00:01:47Room for your A-Tip?
00:01:49Well done.
00:01:51It feels so good to win.
00:01:52So good.
00:01:53It just gives us that little boost of confidence, but also the target's now on our back.
00:01:59You know, like, we are now the team to beat.
00:02:02So, you guys took the $1,000 toward your final appraisal.
00:02:06You feel like that was a pretty smart move?
00:02:09Yeah, felt like the sure bet.
00:02:11Time will tell.
00:02:12You guys keep things real close to the vest.
00:02:14Nice.
00:02:15Now, let's get to the high roller action with week three.
00:02:19Oh, yes, it's time.
00:02:21The one you've all been waiting for.
00:02:23Game faces.
00:02:26It's time to tackle the kitchen and dining area.
00:02:31You are responsible for the entire kitchen and attached dining space.
00:02:36So, what you do with that space is totally up to you.
00:02:40And remember, the judging criteria are added value, overall design, and creativity.
00:02:47The kitchen is what separates the amateurs from the professionals.
00:02:53Right?
00:02:54You win the kitchen.
00:02:55You know that you're getting your value there.
00:02:57I'm sorry.
00:02:58I don't think anybody is going to out-kitchen us.
00:03:00And remember, you have one week to complete your spaces.
00:03:02And, of course, your furniture and decor is coming from Wayfair.
00:03:06Yes.
00:03:07Yay!
00:03:09All right, guys.
00:03:11Go get those kitchens!
00:03:13Yay!
00:03:14Good luck!
00:03:15Let's try some bigger.
00:03:21Week three.
00:03:22Here we are.
00:03:23I still feel good.
00:03:25I feel fresh.
00:03:26I do, too.
00:03:27Kitchen.
00:03:28Let's do it.
00:03:29I like this kitchen already.
00:03:30You like the layout?
00:03:31I like the lighting.
00:03:32I like where it is.
00:03:34This is where the island is intended.
00:03:36Which I don't dislike.
00:03:37I feel like our vibe is very defined at this point.
00:03:41And we've got to find the ways to bring it in here.
00:03:44Right?
00:03:45All the materials just have to be that smoky, sexy vibe.
00:03:49Mm-hmm.
00:03:50I feel like we've got to pick and choose, which is dining, which is kitchen.
00:03:53So, we always said that our island was going to balance out our fireplace.
00:03:57I think the dining be over there with the windows, I think.
00:04:00We could build out, like, a giant vanquette.
00:04:03Yeah, we can have it upholstered and bring in some cool fabric.
00:04:07Mm-hmm.
00:04:07I think we could get rid of the sliders.
00:04:09I would love big new picture windows.
00:04:14What is your preference in a kitchen?
00:04:16Like, what's important to you right now?
00:04:17I have always wanted a stove-cove.
00:04:20A cove-stove.
00:04:21Stove-cove.
00:04:22Stove-cove.
00:04:23Stove-cove.
00:04:23Cove-stove.
00:04:24What I love about it is it gives dimension, where it's not just one line of, like,
00:04:28here's your fridge, here's this, here's your stove, here's your cabinets.
00:04:32It gives dimension.
00:04:34It feels architectural.
00:04:35And it's cozy.
00:04:36It does look like a piece of art, kind of like our fireplace.
00:04:39I mean, for me, it's a yes.
00:04:41I would love to cove the stove with you.
00:04:43Okay.
00:04:44Full cabinetry.
00:04:44We use antique mirror.
00:04:47Keep the island here.
00:04:48I think it could get a little bigger.
00:04:50Some really killer countertop material that's got all of our colors in it.
00:04:55And then a beautiful waterfall, if we can afford it.
00:04:59Good.
00:05:00Yeah.
00:05:01And then we've got this pantry, but it's almost split into two different sections.
00:05:05So I think I just want one big, cool prep kitchen.
00:05:10Yes.
00:05:10Right?
00:05:11Second island, even.
00:05:12I love it.
00:05:13Tons of storage.
00:05:14It gives some natural light in here.
00:05:16It would have been a window?
00:05:17Yeah.
00:05:18I like that idea.
00:05:20And then do we bring the refrigerator freezer in here?
00:05:23I didn't think about that.
00:05:24Does it bother you?
00:05:26Does it bother the judges that our kitchen doesn't have?
00:05:29I don't care what those lunatics think.
00:05:33It makes sense if you're prepping in here that the fridge would be in here.
00:05:36I think it does.
00:05:37I don't want two refrigerators.
00:05:39That's more for me to check what's expiring.
00:05:41I don't want two dishwashers.
00:05:42I can't even remember if my dishwasher is clean or dirty.
00:05:44I want one dishwasher by my big sink.
00:05:47I want my refrigerator freezer in here.
00:05:49Okay.
00:05:51Okay.
00:05:51I love that idea.
00:05:52Great.
00:05:53The kitchen is high stakes because I do think if you get it wrong, and there's a lot of
00:05:57ways to get a kitchen wrong, the wheels could come off our whole house.
00:06:01When buyers come in, I feel like it's what they're most excited to see is the kitchen.
00:06:05So it's, I feel like it's one of the most important spaces.
00:06:08And so this to me is going to be one of our biggest numbers, like 60 grand.
00:06:12I think we can pull it off for 60 grand.
00:06:15I know we can.
00:06:15We're going to have to.
00:06:16I think we're taking some pretty big risks this week, honestly.
00:06:19The fridge.
00:06:20Yeah.
00:06:21Do it.
00:06:21The refrigerator not being in the kitchen and being in the prep, not having two.
00:06:27Risk reward, roll the dice, blow on them, blow on them.
00:06:34Does that spit on you?
00:06:35A little bit.
00:06:39Every other team is going to bring it in the kitchen.
00:06:41It's obviously a super important part of the house.
00:06:44No one likes to lose.
00:06:45We definitely don't like to lose, but we do not need to reinvent the wheel here.
00:06:49Hopefully, we'll get our first win.
00:06:52I think it's a great space.
00:06:54So we've obviously got big fridge here, big, big boy stove.
00:06:58When we wrap drywall around the vent.
00:07:00Love that look.
00:07:01Badass cabinets over here, tons of drama.
00:07:04Nice.
00:07:04And, I mean, we're going to make this a Vernon-sized island.
00:07:09We have this plumbing here.
00:07:11Are we going to keep the sink here, in the middle?
00:07:13Something's going to have to be in the island.
00:07:14I don't, I would prefer the island to have nothing, but I don't think we can do the sink
00:07:19and the stove on this wall and make it, like, aesthetically pleasing.
00:07:23I usually am not one for the sink in the island, because I just like the big slab without being
00:07:28broken.
00:07:29But I also like that you can be doing the dishes, watching the game, instead of your back.
00:07:35I don't like, you know, if you, when you, like, dine out or when you sleep, there's like, there's a
00:07:40ninja position.
00:07:41Right.
00:07:41You know what I'm talking about?
00:07:42Yeah.
00:07:42So it's who's ever is, like, ready to see and fight the attackers that come in, the ninjas.
00:07:48You don't put your back to the door in the restaurant so you can see the bad guys.
00:07:51Right.
00:07:52This is how my brain works.
00:07:53It's messed up.
00:07:54Ah, ah, ah, the bad guys.
00:07:55So this is the ninja position.
00:07:56I don't quite understand why we've got the wall between here, and I don't love it, so I would be
00:08:02inclined to take it down and have our prep kitchen kind of go all the way around here.
00:08:07We do a secondary fridge.
00:08:08We do another dishwasher.
00:08:10A big wine fridge, maybe a cappuccino bar.
00:08:13Some open shelving.
00:08:14Yep.
00:08:14To save a little bit of money.
00:08:16An additional set of appliances is an appraisal thing, but also a sellability thing.
00:08:20I love how much light we have over here.
00:08:23My cat loves the sun.
00:08:24You should see my cat.
00:08:25I got this big 30-pound cat.
00:08:28What, ideally, like, functionally would you use this space for, especially since we added a dining area last week?
00:08:36What about bookshelves?
00:08:37Like, built-in ones around the windows or something.
00:08:40Yeah.
00:08:40Kind of making it game room, library, so, like, board games, like a low table, some chairs.
00:08:46Yeah.
00:08:46Books on the shelves, board games on the shelves, a little, like, cute decor.
00:08:50I think that would flow with the rest of the space is nice.
00:08:53Fun, comfortable, and elegant.
00:08:55Yeah.
00:08:55We already spent $95,000.
00:08:58So, you know, we're getting close to that budget.
00:09:01We went a little crazy last week with the glass enclosure around the den, and I think we really need
00:09:07to try our best to figure out how to stay around, like, $45,000.
00:09:12And I'm not confident about the budget, but we'll figure it out.
00:09:16I think our biggest risk is really that we're not taking any huge risks.
00:09:20We're not dumping a ton of money in here.
00:09:22We're being very strategic, placing it throughout the home.
00:09:25Demo?
00:09:25Well, I'm confident about that.
00:09:27Ugh!
00:09:41Everything that's happened up until now is child's play.
00:09:45True.
00:09:45Kitchen, make or break.
00:09:48So, we're going kitchen plus.
00:09:50Yes.
00:09:51This is a multi-million dollar home.
00:09:53Right.
00:09:54We've gone for the entertaining vibe.
00:09:56I think we need to lean into that even further.
00:09:59If our kitchen's going to start here, with our cabinets, stove with a hood.
00:10:06Yes.
00:10:06Let's build around the range hood so that it looks grand.
00:10:09Double island.
00:10:10Double the value.
00:10:13This could be the morning, the afternoon, the evening room.
00:10:16We're above counter height.
00:10:17Yeah.
00:10:18We can continue counter height.
00:10:19A buffet there or something.
00:10:21Breakfast bar.
00:10:22Oh, I like that.
00:10:23Like, built in.
00:10:25We have to keep an eye on Tanya.
00:10:27Okay.
00:10:27Like, I have to think, what would Tanya be doing?
00:10:28And then we've got to amp it up.
00:10:30Because this is her specialty.
00:10:32I know that Tanya knows this space.
00:10:34She is a pro.
00:10:36And I think they're the ones that we've got to watch for this week.
00:10:39And there's this pantry.
00:10:41I mean, I'm all about having kind of like a prep kitchen.
00:10:44I have an even better idea.
00:10:46Let's do a second kitchen.
00:10:49Oh, thank you.
00:10:50I love that.
00:10:51If it's a kitchen, we should have a window.
00:10:53Open this wall up.
00:10:55Fridge.
00:10:56Sink.
00:10:57Loven.
00:10:58Dishwasher.
00:10:59I'm in for like a sneaky bar.
00:11:01You could put some fluted paneling on it or something.
00:11:04I like that.
00:11:04And then we just do open shelves.
00:11:07Shortcut to the dining room.
00:11:08Yes.
00:11:09I like it.
00:11:10Oh!
00:11:14It's so bad.
00:11:15Look at how red my hand is.
00:11:16How are you the daughter of a wrestler?
00:11:18Oh, my gosh.
00:11:19Well, we don't do that.
00:11:20We do that.
00:11:22Oh, my Jesus.
00:11:23The kitchen is the heart of the home, and we need big spaces.
00:11:27We need a lot of room for entertaining.
00:11:29We need a lot of stuff to cook with.
00:11:31You could spend $150,000 on this kitchen easy.
00:11:34But we don't have that, do we?
00:11:36I think we need $55,000 for the kitchen.
00:11:40And even that's tight.
00:11:41What can we do to make up for it?
00:11:44I think if we just get to work, we'll figure out where we have to stop.
00:11:58This is, like, the whole reason I want to be here in this competition is to win this space.
00:12:05So, basically, what you're saying is I can't be cheap on this one.
00:12:08The fact that we have the kitchen next is a great way for us to rebound.
00:12:11You know, it kind of puts our strengths back out there in front of everybody.
00:12:15It's challenge number three.
00:12:16We're going for lucky three.
00:12:18We're putting everything that we have into it because this is really a big deal for us.
00:12:22This is a redemption moment for us.
00:12:25I design restaurants.
00:12:26It is my jam.
00:12:27It's what I do.
00:12:28I've done it for almost 20 years now.
00:12:31I really would love to bring that hospitality restaurant energy into the space.
00:12:38So, back in the day, my brother and I, we had a restaurant.
00:12:41But the kitchen felt sterile and cold.
00:12:43Okay.
00:12:44I want to make sure that we're able to still make it feel warm and inviting.
00:12:49How do you feel about the island?
00:12:51Go as big as we can with whatever slab we get.
00:12:54Maybe a soft curve.
00:12:56It's going to soften some of the hard edges that are everywhere.
00:13:01All right.
00:13:01So, cabinetry.
00:13:02I think we should do two-tone cabinetry.
00:13:04I love two-tone.
00:13:05You like wood, right?
00:13:06I love wood.
00:13:07What if we go grass hood?
00:13:10That's going to be like a goat.
00:13:12It is going to eat budget.
00:13:13It's going to be the goat hood because it's going to be the greatest of all times hood.
00:13:17I'm in.
00:13:18Are you in?
00:13:18I'm in.
00:13:19That means we are going all the way up with cabinets.
00:13:22What if we find a way to do a library ladder?
00:13:28I love that idea.
00:13:30Okay.
00:13:31Let's go look.
00:13:31This looks like it's a pantry, but this could be a perfect prep kitchen.
00:13:35Separate fridge.
00:13:36Mm-hmm.
00:13:37Separate sink.
00:13:38Dishwasher, too.
00:13:39Yep.
00:13:40Okay.
00:13:42This room has a lot of great light that comes into it.
00:13:45This could be a little bit more of like an intimate dining setting.
00:13:48Yeah.
00:13:48What if we open this up as well?
00:13:51Are you thinking a slider?
00:13:52Exactly that.
00:13:53I mean, I think we definitely need a seating area.
00:13:56I would love to see these windows fill like floor to ceiling.
00:14:00We're on the third challenge, and we're already 100K in.
00:14:05Whatever this is going to cost, a prep kitchen, this massive slab.
00:14:10Yeah.
00:14:10All this cabinetry that comes all the way down here.
00:14:13All this beautiful dark cabinetry.
00:14:15Where is our actual fridge going?
00:14:20Well, so about that.
00:14:24I'm trying not to go too over the top with the restaurant thing, but we're over the top already.
00:14:29So, like, how about a walk-in?
00:14:34Like an actual walk-in refrigerator.
00:14:37We're going to have to go through that wall.
00:14:39Exactly.
00:14:39We'd have to bump this out.
00:14:41Well, we could definitely do it, but is it worth it?
00:14:46If we're going to go big and do things that no one has ever, ever done before on the block,
00:14:51There's a reason nobody's done it before.
00:14:54It's going to be so much money.
00:14:56I'm going to look into pricing.
00:14:58I'm going to do due diligence.
00:14:59I'll see what it's going to cost, and then we can decide.
00:15:03I mean, we have other spaces we have to do after this, though, too.
00:15:06I think this is going to cost us somewhere in the realm of, like, 80 grand.
00:15:10Maybe even 100 if we get the walk-in.
00:15:13We went big the first two weeks, but I say we go big again.
00:15:17I really want to win this, Drew.
00:15:19Like, if there's one thing I want to win, it is this.
00:15:31The biggest change we're making this week is in our morning room.
00:15:34We took out the slider and replaced a few other meh windows with seven massive ones.
00:15:40This was, like, a subtle but very big change.
00:15:43This feels so cool and high-end now to me.
00:15:46It really does.
00:15:46I was feeling a little bit concerned at one point that the banquette was going to feel too heavy for
00:15:51that morning room vibe,
00:15:52but seeing all the windows completely negates my concern because it is so cheerful and bright in there.
00:15:57Okay, now what I'm thinking, you've got all this light over here, and it's so magical and so sparkly,
00:16:03and then you come over here, and I'm wondering if this is too dark.
00:16:07So what do you think if we did add a pair of windows on either side of the cove?
00:16:13We lose the upper cabinets.
00:16:15We could use the brass and glass shelving that would come off the side of the cove that then it
00:16:22would function more like open shelving.
00:16:24Or do you think this is going to cost extra, if you had to say?
00:16:27It's apples to apples.
00:16:29We're not gaining.
00:16:30We're not losing money.
00:16:31But we are upping the design.
00:16:33I agree.
00:16:34And that's a win.
00:16:34I have never had a space that I could make like a library, and it feels very bougie.
00:16:44I'm excited about it.
00:16:46I think when the judges are doing their bit, like obviously it's about value, but I feel like they're looking
00:16:52for things that are a little fun and different and interesting.
00:16:56I think we got that and more.
00:16:58I have two little kids like I don't read for pleasure much nowadays, but anyone, even if you don't like
00:17:04me have a million books, I would still love to have it. It's beautiful.
00:17:07I would buy books to fill it.
00:17:09Well, you don't have to buy books. You can just host an event called Books and Burgers. Bring all your
00:17:13friends over, have them all bring books, two or three books. They all got books at home. They can donate
00:17:17to you.
00:17:18That's so smart.
00:17:22You want to come close to the door as possible.
00:17:25Let me tell you this one.
00:17:27Being able to tie this shelving into this space really works with this room overall.
00:17:32And it stands out. As soon as you walk in, you have the nice light coming in, and it's right
00:17:37next to the kitchen. So I think it's a great use of space.
00:17:40I think it turned out good. I like it. It's how I would want to use the space.
00:17:45I mean, obviously, all that natural light is doing wonders for the space.
00:17:50Yeah.
00:17:50You know how it's going to look, though, when we do the glass panels for the walk-in fridge? It's
00:17:55going to be insane.
00:17:57So right now, without that cooler, we have less than $100,000 for the rest of the competition.
00:18:04Do we really need a $30,000 walk-in cooler?
00:18:08I mean, I know that sounds crazy, but to me, something like this is going to just set it completely
00:18:13apart.
00:18:13Let me push back a little bit. I get that the walk-in is important to you, but our livable
00:18:18luxe details are going to blow away the judges, with or without that walk-in.
00:18:22Tensions are a little bit higher now than they were, clearly, in week one, when you had $275,000, and
00:18:28it seems like a fortune.
00:18:29Now we are less than $100,000 left, and we have a lot of house to go.
00:18:38Okay. I can't even believe I'm saying okay. I don't want to say okay.
00:18:42But you said it. I heard okay. I heard okay.
00:18:47I think my eyes are welling up a little bit right now.
00:18:51All right. Well, my walk-in fridge has walked away.
00:18:58If I get a huge fridge, it takes up, like, literally this whole space.
00:19:02Literally that whole space.
00:19:03And it's panel-ready, not stainless.
00:19:06Panel-ready.
00:19:07And since we're not eating into the pantry anymore, we can keep it as is, and we can add tons
00:19:11of shelving.
00:19:17Oh, my God.
00:19:21You ain't never seen it done like this.
00:19:23We got the glove on life.
00:19:25And we can't get started.
00:19:28You ain't never seen it done like this, Scott.
00:19:32You ain't never seen it done like this.
00:19:34We got the glove on life.
00:19:36We got the glove on life.
00:19:38Is it too heavy for you, Scott?
00:19:40It's, hey, we have a lot of cabinets.
00:19:43Easy.
00:19:44We've decided to swing for the fences when it comes for the kitchen.
00:19:48Is that a baseball term?
00:19:49Yeah.
00:19:50Why would you swing for a fence?
00:19:53Because you're trying to hit a home run.
00:19:55The fence-
00:19:55You're swinging for the air?
00:19:56Because then the guy catches it when it hits the fence, and then they get you out, right?
00:19:59You're swinging to hit the ball over the fences, right?
00:20:02So, okay.
00:20:03Swing for the fences.
00:20:04Swing for the fences.
00:20:05Yeah.
00:20:05Okay.
00:20:06So, anyway, sorry.
00:20:06I didn't mean to interrupt you.
00:20:07That's okay.
00:20:08You want me to use a hockey analogy?
00:20:10Sure.
00:20:11All right.
00:20:11We're going for a hat trick.
00:20:12We've got our standard kitchen set up, which I love with the arch.
00:20:16If we can pull this off, it will be a buzzer beater.
00:20:19NBA had to get it in.
00:20:20A buzzer beater?
00:20:21Yeah.
00:20:21That sounds dirty.
00:20:22What?
00:20:23Cabinet, cabinet, cabinet.
00:20:25We're going to have our prep kitchen back there with more cabinets.
00:20:28It's a lot of cabinets.
00:20:31And?
00:20:32You know what?
00:20:32I'm thinking, I'm putting my appraiser hat on for a second.
00:20:36Yeah.
00:20:36And we could have a problem here.
00:20:38Why?
00:20:41I'm worried because we need this win.
00:20:44It's the biggest win of the entire thing.
00:20:46Here's the problem.
00:20:47What if the appraiser comes in, looks at our kitchen, and says it's all two samesies?
00:20:52The light floors, the light cabinets, the islands, like, should we have switched up the color?
00:21:00Like, we just did all the same.
00:21:02I'm starting to second guess this plan.
00:21:04Your instincts are saying, ah, we should switch it up because that's what you're used to.
00:21:09But what if you try something different and it actually works?
00:21:13Then your whole world is like, so you're risking it.
00:21:17This is a risk in a different way.
00:21:20I'm not as worried as you are.
00:21:21I stand confident in the decisions that we made.
00:21:24Has there ever been a time where you have not had confidence?
00:21:29It's called my mother.
00:21:31There's still time to elevate what we have.
00:21:35Even, you know, if we do something a little fancier with the range hood, make that the centerpiece.
00:21:40If you did a corbel, you could sit it here.
00:21:43There's still things we can do without having to go backwards.
00:21:49Okay.
00:21:53That's where a corbel comes in.
00:21:55I really like that.
00:21:57I like that a lot.
00:21:58We have this cool range hood, but it's just sitting there with these floating shelves that don't connect for any
00:22:04rhyme or reason.
00:22:05So with this corbel idea, it feels more custom intentional and it looks great.
00:22:11I just want to see one more thing.
00:22:12Just hold it up.
00:22:13Let me just...
00:22:13So imagine if you...
00:22:15Ah!
00:22:16Jeez.
00:22:17Ah!
00:22:24Our cabinets have arrived and now we just need to make some final layout decisions.
00:22:29Okay.
00:22:30So...
00:22:30This moment has come.
00:22:32Mina hates clutter, so we can't leave anything on the counter when she's around.
00:22:35So we got a lot of storage for her and the judges.
00:22:38Which I very much appreciate.
00:22:39Now we just need to decide if we want the glass cabinet on the bottom or kind of higher up.
00:22:45There's this big guy and then one of these that stacks.
00:22:49And that's what gets us all the way to the ceiling.
00:22:51Okay.
00:22:52So I want to set the two stacks up, one like we have in the picture, but one where it's
00:22:59closed glass closed.
00:23:02So if you just tilt it back a little bit, what we should be able to do is lift here.
00:23:08All right, let's slide it down here.
00:23:10You are very tall.
00:23:12I did undo this.
00:23:13I think I like it.
00:23:15So that's one option.
00:23:17Option two is actually the way we drew it up originally with the reed of glass panels on the bottom
00:23:21of the tower.
00:23:22We obviously love the glass section.
00:23:24They're beautiful.
00:23:25We just want to figure out where to place it on the towers to give us the best visual balance.
00:23:30Oh, I like that way better.
00:23:32You do?
00:23:32That feels top heavy.
00:23:34It does.
00:23:35Like she just gonna fall forward.
00:23:36I like this a lot better.
00:23:37I feel like functionally that's better and aesthetically that's better.
00:23:41So I feel like it's the easy choice.
00:23:46This is one of my favorite parts of the house.
00:23:49Same.
00:23:49This amazing, massive banquette.
00:23:53How many people can sit here?
00:23:5437?
00:23:55With all these windows.
00:23:57This one kind of brings out that 70s.
00:24:00Yeah.
00:24:01The banquette is kind of bringing back that old school.
00:24:04It does feel like one of those kind of groovy, built-in, sunken living room sectional sofas.
00:24:11I'm obsessed with that.
00:24:13I know.
00:24:13That is a good one.
00:24:14Honestly, like either is going to be a winner.
00:24:17Flip a coin.
00:24:18Toss a water bottle.
00:24:20Oh.
00:24:21Whoever wins gets to pick the fabric.
00:24:23We'll use this as the target.
00:24:26Grab a water bottle.
00:24:27Whoever can toss it in from the furthest distance gets to choose.
00:24:31I hate competing against Kim because I go in it already assuming I'm going to lose.
00:24:40Nice.
00:24:42Oh, no.
00:24:45Dang.
00:24:47Oh!
00:24:51Yay!
00:24:53I do like your fabric.
00:24:54Watch your knee.
00:24:55Watch your knee.
00:24:55It kind of pulls everything together.
00:24:56The colors match our cabinetry.
00:24:59It's got that very dark brown in it.
00:25:01It's got the terracotta burnt oranges that we have on the fireplace.
00:25:05Winner, winner.
00:25:07It's great.
00:25:08Felt good.
00:25:08I'm happy with it.
00:25:21I know you're still sad that you didn't get your walk-in fridge, but hopefully this antique brass hood makes
00:25:26up for it.
00:25:26This kitchen definitely needs a showstopper, and this hood is it.
00:25:32All right.
00:25:33This is the brass hood?
00:25:35Yep.
00:25:35The piece that I've been waiting for?
00:25:37Yep.
00:25:37Yes, it is.
00:25:38This is like Christmas morning.
00:25:40I have been dying to put this brass hood.
00:25:43It's antique brass.
00:25:44It's beautiful.
00:25:45One, two, three.
00:25:50Look at her!
00:25:51Look at her!
00:25:53This is more than my car.
00:25:55Oh, my gosh.
00:25:56Yeah, no joke.
00:25:57This thing was a real hefty price tag.
00:26:00You need a little bit of extra...
00:26:01A little bling.
00:26:02A little bougie-ness.
00:26:03Yeah.
00:26:03Especially in Vegas.
00:26:05It's the crown jewel of this kitchen.
00:26:06I've been wanting to do this forever.
00:26:09Today is the day.
00:26:10This bouncing off of the fireplace around is really going to kind of just, you know, fuse the two spaces
00:26:17together.
00:26:18Totally.
00:26:18Right now, the big question is, is it going to fit?
00:26:22As much as I want to show you my manly prowess, I'm going to bring in some help for this
00:26:26one.
00:26:26Okay.
00:26:26Oh, my God.
00:26:27My heart's about to stop right now.
00:26:29I can't watch this.
00:26:31This is too stressful for me.
00:26:33Oh.
00:26:35Oh, but it fits.
00:26:36Is it fitting?
00:26:37Ah!
00:26:38We got it.
00:26:39I'm kicking out.
00:26:40Kick out the bottom.
00:26:41There we go.
00:26:42There it is.
00:26:43All right.
00:26:43I mean, is it weird if I cry over a hood?
00:26:46I am that happy about this.
00:26:49This is pretty spectacular.
00:26:51Luxury items also can add value.
00:26:53I mean, they are stories.
00:26:55They are moments.
00:26:56They are things that people remember about a home.
00:26:58If you had a toilet made out of gold.
00:27:00You'd remember it.
00:27:02This is...
00:27:02I'm crying.
00:27:03Literally, my eyes are watering.
00:27:05Because you haven't cried over a hood before?
00:27:07I've never cried over a hood before.
00:27:10Oh, this is awesome.
00:27:11I don't know how we don't win this kitchen.
00:27:13I'm freaking out because this wood is very rustic.
00:27:17This has been so hard.
00:27:18This kitchen is not trending.
00:27:20It is what's next.
00:27:22Nina, burn it!
00:27:23There you are!
00:27:25What?
00:27:26Paige Turner, welcome back to the block.
00:27:30All of the gold and brass is very vague.
00:27:32The rest of the range is missing.
00:27:40This is the ultimate kitchen.
00:27:42I wish I had this kitchen in my house.
00:27:44And it's all coming together really fast.
00:27:46Watch your back.
00:27:47Watch your back.
00:27:48Oh.
00:27:48Amazing.
00:27:50Put that guy there.
00:27:51Oh.
00:27:52This is...
00:27:53Here we go.
00:27:54Oh, my gosh.
00:27:57There's so many.
00:27:58Hold on.
00:27:59There's so much stuff.
00:28:00Scott.
00:28:01One, two, three, four, five, six.
00:28:03Oh, my gosh.
00:28:04Scott.
00:28:04Is this...
00:28:05Everything's coming in now?
00:28:07Everything's coming in right now.
00:28:08We're not ready for this.
00:28:09Okay.
00:28:09Go, go, go.
00:28:10Oh, my gosh.
00:28:10Okay.
00:28:11Right.
00:28:11Go over there.
00:28:13This is exciting.
00:28:14The appliances have arrived.
00:28:15Everything's being delivered all at once.
00:28:17Wine cooler.
00:28:18Can we put the refrigerator right where it goes?
00:28:21And then I'll deal with the doors later.
00:28:23We got two stoves.
00:28:24We got two dishwashers.
00:28:25We've got a range hood.
00:28:26Two microwaves.
00:28:27We got a microwave.
00:28:28Two microwaves.
00:28:29What's that one?
00:28:30Oh, my gosh.
00:28:30Scott.
00:28:30Hold on, hold on, hold on.
00:28:31The oven, I can't move on my own.
00:28:33More is more in Vegas.
00:28:34What are you doing?
00:28:35Stop playing around back there.
00:28:37We've spent a lot of money on these appliances.
00:28:39But we're going to get that money back because high-end appliances keep the appreciation value high.
00:28:45You're clear?
00:28:46If the judges are evaluating us based on how many appliances there are, we're definitely going to get the win.
00:28:53100%.
00:28:54Take that one.
00:28:56Oh, my gosh.
00:28:57What's that one?
00:28:59Oh, my gosh.
00:29:00Come on.
00:29:07I am loving how our pantry is coming together.
00:29:10Oh, it's beautiful.
00:29:11Yo, Mina, Vernon.
00:29:13Oh, my gosh.
00:29:15What?
00:29:16What are you?
00:29:17That's nothing.
00:29:18It's not exciting when we see you anymore.
00:29:20What do you guys think I'm bringing more work?
00:29:23I don't know.
00:29:24Are you going to get this money?
00:29:25No, I'm honestly just checking in with you guys to see, like, how are you holding up?
00:29:29I mean, look, this is the first time on the block.
00:29:31Like, how is it?
00:29:33Oh, man.
00:29:33It's giving me a run for my money for sure.
00:29:35I renovate, flip homes and things of that nature.
00:29:38But kind of like a rookie in this space.
00:29:40You know you have to get it done at a certain time.
00:29:43Yeah.
00:29:43And just the anxiety and the anticipation and just adrenaline, it's all there.
00:29:48But it's cool to see you in this environment because, like, you studied fine art, right?
00:29:51I did.
00:29:52By my junior year of college, I changed my major to fine arts.
00:29:55We did metal casting when I was in college.
00:29:57We created sculptures.
00:29:58I learned how to paint.
00:29:59So to me, a house is the same thing.
00:30:02You have a blank canvas.
00:30:03Now, it's up to you to add the pieces where they need to be.
00:30:06I like what I'm seeing.
00:30:07Yeah.
00:30:07But, uh...
00:30:08It's the color of your eyes.
00:30:09It really brings out the, like, the blue-green.
00:30:11Look at this.
00:30:13You put it next to it.
00:30:14Yeah, just put it right there.
00:30:15It's so beautiful.
00:30:16It's so beautiful.
00:30:16It really is.
00:30:17The color of your eyes.
00:30:18There's some more green, not mine.
00:30:19But you guys feel good?
00:30:20Like, I mean...
00:30:21I feel great about this sound.
00:30:23I hope so, because I know you've got sort of a...
00:30:26I don't want to call it a grudge, but, like...
00:30:29I've got something to prove.
00:30:30You've never won on the block.
00:30:32Never won anything ever.
00:30:34I really do feel, like, super confident.
00:30:37I think we really got this, and we're going to be able to prove to everyone that we do.
00:30:41We've got, like, one big swing that I think anyone's going to have a really, really hard
00:30:46time beating us on appraisal.
00:30:49Ooh.
00:30:49I'm glad you guys are doing well.
00:30:51All right, I'll talk to you guys soon.
00:30:52Thank you, sir.
00:31:11Oh, wow.
00:31:13That mirror is sick.
00:31:14That was such a good idea.
00:31:16I love that you thought of that.
00:31:17I've never put mirror in a kitchen before, and it's hard to make a kitchen sexy, because
00:31:21it's so utilitarian.
00:31:23The hall monitor people of the world are going to say, oh, this is going to be so hard to
00:31:27keep clean.
00:31:28Oh, do I want to see my reflection while I scramble eggs?
00:31:31To those people, it's not going to be quite right, but to the people who are enjoying their
00:31:35lives, they are going to love the smoky mirror behind the stove.
00:31:39I am so thankful that I won the bottle-in-a-bucket challenge, because I think that this is...
00:31:45I just don't look like you cheated.
00:31:47...the perfect fabric for this banquette.
00:31:51It's going to be controversial.
00:31:54You think?
00:31:55For sure.
00:31:56If somebody is focused on practicality, they're going to be thinking about how you're going
00:32:00to get in and out of this and how hard it's going to be, but I think it's awesome.
00:32:04See, I think I would be admiring it so much that that wouldn't even cross my mind.
00:32:08I would just be so excited that someone did it.
00:32:10Any family in Vegas would absolutely love this banquette.
00:32:13Yes, it's for the kids, the kids' friends, Thanksgiving, game night, you name it.
00:32:19We found an antique butcher block table that is actually perfect dimensions.
00:32:26It's exactly what we needed.
00:32:27We found it at a cool local antique store, and it's better than what I was picturing.
00:32:33God's have spoken.
00:32:33They're on our side.
00:32:34We'll get this cleaned up a little bit.
00:32:36I think if we just get some clamps on this and give it a little sanding and some fresh oil,
00:32:41it's going to be great.
00:32:42I mean, what a cool place to chop.
00:32:43Let's put a big cutting board over the top.
00:32:45Yeah, I do like it.
00:32:48Bridge looks good.
00:32:49Everything came together well.
00:32:52Yeah, you're on your phone again.
00:32:53I'm looking at the competition.
00:32:55I'm seeing Tanya's work.
00:32:57I think Tanya's going to do something crazy.
00:33:00I want to know what they're doing.
00:33:02Well, they're our neighbors.
00:33:04We can peek through the window on that side.
00:33:07I was thinking kind of something more...
00:33:09You want to break in?
00:33:11Not break in, but I was thinking something a little bit more devious.
00:33:15It's like Trojan horse.
00:33:17Let's say I go in here.
00:33:18Now you're going to tape it up.
00:33:21Do we have tape?
00:33:21We're going to go put it on a pallet.
00:33:23And then just tell someone on their team,
00:33:24hey, I think Tanya and Drew's fridge is delivered.
00:33:27And then once they move me inside, I need you to go back five minutes.
00:33:32That's all I need.
00:33:33Go back and be like, oh, I think our fridge got delivered over there.
00:33:35Rescue me.
00:33:39All right, step on the pallet.
00:33:41Do you see the pallet?
00:33:45Sorry to hear Nickum.
00:33:46Where is it?
00:33:52This thing?
00:33:52Where is it?
00:33:59This thing?
00:34:00Where is it?
00:34:01Is it our fridge?
00:34:02It's already in.
00:34:03It's already in.
00:34:08Abort, abort, abort, abort.
00:34:10Were you trying to sneak in?
00:34:12I'm just saying.
00:34:13Wait, wait, what are you guys?
00:34:15Where did Trojan's come from?
00:34:16Was she in there also?
00:34:18I think she was hiding.
00:34:20What?
00:34:20Oh, Scott.
00:34:25I'm glad you guys have enough free time on your hands.
00:34:28You know, we're busy over here working.
00:34:30That's why you play hockey.
00:34:31Nothing to see here.
00:34:34I can't.
00:34:35I keep thinking about it.
00:34:36I can't.
00:34:37I was trying to make a clean getaway.
00:34:40This box running with little legs underneath it, and then the whole box just like, it was
00:34:46pure gold.
00:34:47My shins are bleeding, so.
00:34:49It was worth it.
00:34:50What's up, baby?
00:34:51Yeah.
00:34:52Man, this is crazy.
00:34:55Mina.
00:34:57Look at that.
00:34:58Woo-wee.
00:34:59The truck is here with our massive kitchen island slab.
00:35:03That's going to be sick.
00:35:05I've never seen a piece that looked like that.
00:35:06It's so perfect, and it's making me so, so happy.
00:35:12Watch out to the right, to the right.
00:35:14I really wanted a natural stone because I wanted the depth.
00:35:18This is dolomite.
00:35:19It's a mineral.
00:35:20It's similar to limestone, but it has a little bit more magnesium in it, and you just get
00:35:23this really pretty mixture of colors and veining, and it looks soft.
00:35:28I'm glad we splurged on this because this was not cheap.
00:35:32Vernon and I both live around our kitchen island.
00:35:34We don't eat at our dining table.
00:35:36We don't really eat in the living room.
00:35:37Like, this is where you are.
00:35:38So this is the spot that has to be amazing.
00:35:43Oh, yeah.
00:35:44Oh.
00:35:45Whoa.
00:35:49I can make a snow angel in here.
00:35:51Look at this.
00:35:54So we have this beautiful wood ladder that we are going to use on a library rack in the
00:35:59kitchen, so we have to get that so it matches our cabinetry.
00:36:03I think this is going to be a signature part of our kitchen.
00:36:07Making it black stained, you'll see the wood grain.
00:36:10It'll look stunning.
00:36:11Look at this.
00:36:12Oh, that is so pretty.
00:36:14Look how dark that is.
00:36:14And don't even let it sit for long.
00:36:16Let's just, yeah, just wipe it off.
00:36:17Get that green, right?
00:36:18Oh, my God.
00:36:20I love it so much.
00:36:22Storage equals value.
00:36:24Now we have a beautiful but functional way to access them.
00:36:28This ladder does triple duty.
00:36:30One, it looks freaking amazing.
00:36:32Two, it adds value because it gives you access to the storage.
00:36:36And three, I forgot what that third one was.
00:36:39Because we wanted it.
00:36:41Damn it.
00:36:41Look at this.
00:36:42Oh, my God.
00:36:43Look at this.
00:36:44Oh, my God.
00:36:45Look at this.
00:36:47You can even just roll it sideways, too.
00:36:48You can roll it.
00:36:49You can just roll it.
00:36:51Roll it.
00:36:51That is incredible.
00:36:53It's actually not heavy.
00:36:54It's not.
00:36:56There we go.
00:36:57Oh, I want to try it out.
00:36:58Boom.
00:36:59And it feels very sturdy.
00:37:01It's sturdy.
00:37:02Very safe.
00:37:02It blends in beautifully with the cabinetry.
00:37:05We can pop it back off.
00:37:07And it's got its own little secret hiding spot.
00:37:11And it just slides right in.
00:37:14We always have a little something-something of a surprise, right?
00:37:18Ladder?
00:37:19What ladder?
00:37:19I don't see a ladder.
00:37:20There's a ladder in here?
00:37:22There's no ladder.
00:37:34It's a big old hunk of rock.
00:37:36Do you think our island's big?
00:37:37Whose island is that?
00:37:39I think it's Kim and Chelsea.
00:37:40I think that's just their center section.
00:37:41Does that make you nervous?
00:37:43No.
00:37:44I'm not changing a thing about ours.
00:37:46Oh, my God.
00:37:48It's massive.
00:37:49This has to be the best moment of your life.
00:37:52You love this countertop, and now look.
00:37:54Alongside having a child, it's up there.
00:37:57There's browns.
00:37:58There's blacks.
00:37:58There's greens.
00:38:00There's even speckles through it where it looks like a constellation.
00:38:03To me, it's just crazy that this has come from Mother Earth.
00:38:07We're using the same countertop material as we did in our winning den last week.
00:38:11So not only is it gorgeous, but it helps to tie these two rooms together.
00:38:15Wow.
00:38:16This is a little scary.
00:38:18Oh, my gosh.
00:38:19Oh, my gosh.
00:38:20Don't crack.
00:38:21Don't crack.
00:38:21Oh, my gosh.
00:38:26Don't crack.
00:38:26Wow.
00:38:27Wow.
00:38:30Yay!
00:38:34Bravo!
00:38:36Oh, my God.
00:38:37It is so insane.
00:38:39I mean, 1,400 pounds of slab, it's so warm.
00:38:46And they got that in this house.
00:38:47You know what this feels like?
00:38:49When you get a hot stone massage,
00:38:52but it's like you're the stone,
00:38:55it's like if a big stone got a little human massage
00:38:57and they laid little people on it.
00:38:59You're getting real weird right now.
00:39:08I have our paint.
00:39:09Hey, before you start painting,
00:39:10what do you think about our prep kitchen?
00:39:13I'm feeling a little bit like I'm making a cocktail,
00:39:15like a, you know, like how the bartender shakes a lot.
00:39:18Like a painted cocktail?
00:39:19Now they like shake a cocktail maker like this.
00:39:22I don't know why they do it up here.
00:39:24Because if they do it down here, it looks weird.
00:39:28Now that I see all the cabinets coming in,
00:39:30I mean, they're nice, they're beautiful.
00:39:31They've got a rustic vibe.
00:39:33Modern Hacienda, I see it all,
00:39:35but I am worried that it's just gonna feel monochromatic,
00:39:38like just bleah.
00:39:40Here's the idea that we were discussing.
00:39:43To take the fluted paneling.
00:39:45Right.
00:39:45And apply it to the doors over here.
00:39:49Right.
00:39:50And then I think we paint it, right?
00:39:52We gotta pick a paint color,
00:39:54just to make this feel a little more exotic.
00:39:57That looks like AstroTurf to me.
00:39:58But there's some energy there.
00:40:00And I feel like the judges want to see things
00:40:03that are like a little more on the outrageous side.
00:40:06We're making it up as we go.
00:40:08Oh, that's pretty.
00:40:09It might be too dark in here.
00:40:11Oh, that looks like Barney to me.
00:40:12Oh, hi, girls.
00:40:14Oh, Barney.
00:40:14Barney's purple.
00:40:16I don't know.
00:40:17Who's Baby Bop or something that was in it, right?
00:40:19You like this screen?
00:40:20Yes.
00:40:21That might be too dark.
00:40:22It looks gray now down here.
00:40:23From up here, that looks gray.
00:40:25Can we mix the green, gray, and the green?
00:40:27Can we like do a mixture?
00:40:29Because I do see what you're saying about the vibrancy.
00:40:33That I can go with, though.
00:40:34That's prettier.
00:40:35I think the one that you like and the one that I like
00:40:37need to have a baby.
00:40:38Yeah.
00:40:39And we're going to paint these the new baby color.
00:40:41Let's make some babies.
00:40:42We're having a baby.
00:40:44We are having a baby.
00:40:46A little green baby.
00:40:47Don't tell my wife.
00:40:54I've never been a believer of trends.
00:40:57This kitchen, in my opinion, is not trending.
00:40:59It is what's next.
00:41:01There are elements to this kitchen
00:41:02that I've never seen before.
00:41:04We have a double-curved island.
00:41:07She's gorgeous.
00:41:08Don't cry.
00:41:08Don't cry.
00:41:09This island is 12 feet long, and it's curved on the front
00:41:14as well as the bull-nose curve.
00:41:15Oh, oh, what Harry met Sally moment.
00:41:20I'll have what she's having.
00:41:21This is everything that we wanted it to be.
00:41:25And more.
00:41:26I mean, this detail, that's fantastic.
00:41:29Drew, every single thing about it is livable meets luxe.
00:41:33The biggest thing about this kitchen is we want
00:41:35to make it beautiful.
00:41:36We want to make it something that takes your breath away,
00:41:38and you walk in.
00:41:39But at the same time, when you're living in this house,
00:41:41you have every amenity that you could dream of.
00:41:44I'm liking the pantry.
00:41:45I know you were not excited about it,
00:41:47and you wanted your walk-in freezer.
00:41:49No one has ever said,
00:41:50I would like less storage in my kitchen.
00:41:52Correct.
00:41:53So I feel like this is a big selling feature.
00:41:56I think this is a smart move from an appraisal standpoint.
00:41:59Yes.
00:41:59I feel like it's going to appeal to a lot more people.
00:42:01The combination of our kitchen, the prep kitchen,
00:42:04and this additional storage is going to give us the WF with this one.
00:42:09Nice.
00:42:10Is that the best use of dust you've ever seen?
00:42:12It is?
00:42:18I am absolutely obsessed with our hardware.
00:42:22I think since we've got the two different cabinet colors out here,
00:42:26and then this one's a third, the cohesive hardware really ties it together,
00:42:30and they're definitely elegant.
00:42:32Gosh, I love how heavy this is.
00:42:34Solid brass.
00:42:35Solid.
00:42:35Yeah.
00:42:36It just feels rich.
00:42:38Feels expensive.
00:42:39I don't even have to go to the gym anymore.
00:42:40I can just take the handles off and just start doing curls with it.
00:42:43Curls for the girls, you know?
00:42:45What are we doing with this glass today?
00:42:46Are we installing?
00:42:47Yeah, it's super easy.
00:42:48I like reeded glass.
00:42:49I'm not a huge fan of frosted.
00:42:50I don't know why, but the reeded makes it not see-through enough
00:42:55that you can have stuff behind there that maybe isn't, like, perfect.
00:42:59Now there's, like, three of you.
00:43:04All right.
00:43:05Okay, so the ridge is going outward.
00:43:06You want the smooth facing that way.
00:43:08Smooth.
00:43:09Fingers split out of there.
00:43:11Every detail really matters because our mantra's been,
00:43:14we don't want, like, the one thing that punches you in the face when you walk in.
00:43:17We want all these little things to add up to this really beautiful,
00:43:20this really comfortably elegant feeling when you're in the home.
00:43:24I love it.
00:43:25That's perfect.
00:43:26Yeah, that's nice.
00:43:37Yeah.
00:43:37Oh, my gosh.
00:43:38Oh, my gosh.
00:43:39Here we go.
00:43:41Oh, yeah.
00:43:42We're here first.
00:43:43Here we go.
00:43:46There we go.
00:43:47White leather.
00:43:48I'm gonna guess.
00:43:49I have a feeling that's Brooke and Scott.
00:43:51Kim?
00:43:51Kim?
00:43:51Kim?
00:43:52Calling Kim?
00:43:53Who wants chairs?
00:43:56Let's go.
00:43:56Let's go.
00:43:56Whoa.
00:43:57Whose is this?
00:43:58What's the weight on this sucker?
00:44:00Oh, that's pretty.
00:44:02Let's go.
00:44:02The judges are coming.
00:44:03All right.
00:44:04Let's go.
00:44:04All we have is chairs.
00:44:05We have one hour.
00:44:07We had a crisis of confidence this week.
00:44:10We really got nervous that we hadn't made the best decisions.
00:44:13And that just pushed us even harder to make sure that those cabinets were surrounded by
00:44:19the most spectacular items.
00:44:21Beauty.
00:44:21I got a couple last pieces to put together here.
00:44:25Our kitchen is really cool and different.
00:44:28And that's not something you normally see.
00:44:30I have never won anything playing safe.
00:44:33Talk about a place that you want to have a dinner party and hang out with your friends.
00:44:36Nobody's gonna want to get up and leave the table.
00:44:38It's so cool.
00:44:39It's so different.
00:44:40It's so unexpected.
00:44:42And I just think that it definitely gives off the smoky sexy vibe.
00:44:45Good.
00:44:45I like that.
00:44:47We have the most sick island.
00:44:50These amazing bookshelves.
00:44:52Our prep kitchen.
00:44:53It's beautiful.
00:44:54It's functional.
00:44:55I feel that we've put everything that we possibly could into this design.
00:44:59This is the space where I get my first win.
00:45:03Vern!
00:45:04You doing good?
00:45:0540 minutes left.
00:45:06Let's go.
00:45:07Okay.
00:45:07This kitchen is eating a major chunk of our budget.
00:45:11We are going all in.
00:45:13So that means we have to win.
00:45:15Because we all know what happens when you go all in.
00:45:17And you lose.
00:45:18Put this on the left.
00:45:21We're not gonna get it all done.
00:45:23Take those plates off the top.
00:45:24Right there is back in the left corner.
00:45:27Good job.
00:45:29There you go.
00:45:30This has been so hard.
00:45:31I know.
00:45:40Paige Turner.
00:45:41Hi.
00:45:41Welcome back to the block.
00:45:43I'm back on the block, Ty.
00:45:45How are you back?
00:45:47I'm so excited to be here.
00:45:49Paige is an HGTV superstar and the co-host of Love It or List It.
00:45:54I mean, what does that mean cost-wise?
00:45:56It's about $14,000 to $15,000.
00:45:58She's also a two-time rock-the-block competitor and has won this same space, the kitchen and
00:46:04dining room.
00:46:05Paige and Mitch.
00:46:08We've just completed our third week and they've been working on the kitchen and dining areas.
00:46:13Well, this is good news.
00:46:15Yes.
00:46:15Well, for me, I don't know about for them.
00:46:17So remember, this is a blind judging.
00:46:19So they don't know I'm here.
00:46:21Right.
00:46:21They won't know you're here.
00:46:22You won't know whose space you're touring.
00:46:24This is gonna be fun.
00:46:26The criteria is overall design, added value, and creativity.
00:46:31Let's get started.
00:46:32Let's start right here.
00:46:33All right.
00:46:34The kitchen, huh?
00:46:34Yes.
00:46:35I'm excited.
00:46:36I think you're gonna like these.
00:46:37Wow.
00:46:41Oh, this is lovely.
00:46:42Oh, it gets lovelier as my eyes find something else to focus on.
00:46:46Yeah.
00:46:46Oh.
00:46:57I feel very elevated.
00:47:00I feel very elegant.
00:47:03There's so much custom, beautiful work in here.
00:47:07Let me just take in this island.
00:47:10Oh, my gosh.
00:47:11It's huge.
00:47:12Yeah.
00:47:12This is a party by itself.
00:47:14I love the extra large pulls on here for all the cabinets.
00:47:20This vent hood is gorgeous.
00:47:22The finishes are definitely popping.
00:47:24The stove, the hardware, they have the pot filler.
00:47:27This is important.
00:47:28Yeah.
00:47:29Having it just have that beveled edge and then just so that it's fluted glass is just gorgeous.
00:47:34This is the card the team wanted you to read.
00:47:36Comfortable elegance.
00:47:38Light, airy, morning room.
00:47:39Perfect for coffee or all-day hangouts.
00:47:43This morning room is gorgeous.
00:47:45The built-ins are amazing.
00:47:47This built-in bookshelf is a winner for Paige Turner.
00:47:50I love that.
00:47:51Added values all around.
00:47:52See the fixtures over the bookshelf?
00:47:54Very, very smart.
00:47:55And this is the thing.
00:47:56With this, because of where they put the light fixture, they can always convert this,
00:48:00even though they have a dining area over there, to another eat-in area if they wanted to.
00:48:04Right.
00:48:05But this is perfect.
00:48:06This is exactly how it should be.
00:48:07And do you like the amount of neutral you're seeing?
00:48:09To me, everything doesn't have to be matchy-matchy anymore.
00:48:12We've come from an era where everything had to match.
00:48:15Now, brass can be tricky.
00:48:17Not everybody loves a bright, shiny brass.
00:48:20And you see, there's even more kitchen.
00:48:26Oh!
00:48:31Wow.
00:48:33There's so much custom work going on in here.
00:48:35Look at this tile.
00:48:38I'm on overload right now.
00:48:40Oh, this is a second full kitchen.
00:48:42I don't know whether to comment on the elegance or all the added value I'm seeing.
00:48:46You have good storage.
00:48:47So much storage.
00:48:48All the way up to the top.
00:48:49I love the floating shelf.
00:48:50I love the color.
00:48:52I love they didn't close it up.
00:48:53So it's open.
00:48:55Everything in here is open.
00:48:56I see what's going on here.
00:48:57Yeah.
00:48:58In here, the morning room.
00:48:59This is such a beautiful open floor plan, and it has enough for everybody.
00:49:03But the designers played it a little too safe with the creativity and the color palette.
00:49:10I feel very grown and sexy in this house.
00:49:13I'm impressed.
00:49:15Let's go check out the next house.
00:49:16Let's go.
00:49:17Let's do it.
00:49:23Okay.
00:49:24Oh.
00:49:25This is different.
00:49:26Should I go this way?
00:49:27Straight ahead.
00:49:28What do you think?
00:49:29Gosh, it's so different.
00:49:43This island is beautiful.
00:49:46Mmm.
00:49:46It really is.
00:49:47Yeah.
00:49:48I love they did the waterfall edge here.
00:49:50The veining on it is so pretty.
00:49:53They really nailed it with this.
00:49:55I feel it's very dark.
00:49:57There's some very cool things going on.
00:50:00Would you like to read what the...
00:50:02Yes.
00:50:02Let's see the card.
00:50:02So this is smoky sexy.
00:50:04Well, I said when I came in, it was dark.
00:50:06I get it now.
00:50:07Yeah.
00:50:07Let's read this.
00:50:08Dark countertops bring the sexy, and mirror backsplash brings the smoky.
00:50:121970-inspired fabric and 1920s antique butcher block creates a fun, rustic feel.
00:50:19Smoky sexy.
00:50:20Well, okay.
00:50:21I guess this is where we're going with the 70s-inspired.
00:50:24The wooden trim, the custom built-ins.
00:50:26It's a big custom.
00:50:28Yeah.
00:50:28They do have the added value, though.
00:50:30I love that they thought about these windows.
00:50:31And I'd rather have natural light than no natural light.
00:50:35You know, this is the thing.
00:50:36As a real estate broker for a couple of decades now, you know, I always think of the resale
00:50:41and who's going to buy this house.
00:50:42These houses really get sold on rock the block.
00:50:45So this is definitely big family.
00:50:46They took their morning room and turned it into a dining room.
00:50:49Yeah.
00:50:50Well, it's a lot more than a dining room.
00:50:51Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:50:52Yeah, it's...
00:50:53It's a booth.
00:50:54It's a restaurant.
00:50:55Somebody could love the space, but not really want the banquette here, or this massive,
00:51:00and then what do you do?
00:51:01You're stuck with it.
00:51:02Let's talk about this stove.
00:51:03We have brass, stainless, some chrome going on, and this backsplash.
00:51:08The smoke mirror, though, that's kind of lovely.
00:51:10We're in Vegas.
00:51:11Right.
00:51:12We're rolling the dice.
00:51:13Yeah.
00:51:13The mirror backsplash is fun.
00:51:15Yeah.
00:51:15So they went with no uppers for their cabinetry, and they just have open floating glass shelves
00:51:22with a metal surround.
00:51:24To let the light from the windows in.
00:51:25It's cool.
00:51:26Okay.
00:51:26Yeah.
00:51:27I just don't know how, you know, convenient it would be to have to go...
00:51:32Oh, I see where their cabinets are going.
00:51:34Here's your storage.
00:51:40Now I see what they're doing.
00:51:42They left it open in there, but they put all their kitchen in here.
00:51:45I think this really pops.
00:51:47I like it.
00:51:48It's a butcher shop.
00:51:48It's cool.
00:51:49It does give a good contrast in here, and it gives a nice pop of color.
00:51:52It's a beautiful color.
00:51:53Yeah.
00:51:54This is really the best view.
00:51:55Standing here and looking this way, it does make it more cozy.
00:51:58It is smoky sexy.
00:52:01All right.
00:52:02Well, what do you say we go check out the next house?
00:52:04I say let's go.
00:52:10So this is the kitchen.
00:52:18Oh, it's beautiful.
00:52:20Oh, my.
00:52:22Double islands?
00:52:23You know I love that.
00:52:25Beautiful waterfall.
00:52:26The veining in here is gorgeous.
00:52:29Oh, the vent hood.
00:52:30It's gorgeous.
00:52:31Look at the curvature here.
00:52:33Yeah.
00:52:34It's so custom.
00:52:35Now, I don't want to contradict myself, but I like this open shelving in here.
00:52:39I love this.
00:52:41Okay, so this is what they call modern hacienda.
00:52:44Hacienda.
00:52:45Hacienda?
00:52:46Mm-hmm.
00:52:47Two kitchens filled with cabinetry and high-end stone countertops.
00:52:52Mm-hmm.
00:52:52Venetian plaster hood and corbels bring old world yet refined hacienda feel.
00:52:58I love the extension of the cabinetry into their eat-in kitchen, breakfast nook.
00:53:05All the way down.
00:53:06All the way down to their coffee machine for their coffee bar and their coffee countertop.
00:53:12Added value there.
00:53:13I think it's gorgeous.
00:53:14They could have extended their plaster overhang there here, right up to the ceiling.
00:53:20Mm-hmm.
00:53:21So it doesn't feel so empty.
00:53:22Yeah.
00:53:23This could be a kitchen with more cabinets than I've ever seen.
00:53:26But they are very specific.
00:53:27Hmm.
00:53:28So a specific buyer will come in here and either like them or say, ah, he knows that might
00:53:33be a toss-up.
00:53:34I believe we've got a second kitchen.
00:53:36Oh!
00:53:37Oh!
00:53:38Yeah.
00:53:43Wow!
00:53:44Oh!
00:53:45Yeah.
00:53:46Is this another range?
00:53:47Another range.
00:53:48Is this a full second kitchen?
00:53:50Full second kitchen.
00:53:51Is this a fridge though?
00:53:52Second fridge.
00:53:53Hmm.
00:53:53Hmm.
00:53:55Wow!
00:53:55This is gorgeous.
00:53:56This is another arch.
00:53:57Do they have a bar area?
00:53:58They brought the arch in here to tie it in.
00:54:02All of the gold and brass.
00:54:03It's very Vegas.
00:54:05I love the color.
00:54:06And watch this.
00:54:07We come from the kitchen through another arch, a double arch into the dining area.
00:54:12Yeah, that's pretty sick.
00:54:13That's dope.
00:54:15We're checking boxes.
00:54:17This is a massively well designed and thought out kitchen.
00:54:21I feel like I'm in a magazine.
00:54:23All right.
00:54:23Should we go check out the last house?
00:54:25The last house already?
00:54:26Let's do it.
00:54:30All right.
00:54:33Oh.
00:54:34Whoa-ho-ho-ho.
00:54:35Yeah.
00:54:36Whoa!
00:54:37Whoa!
00:54:46They get more grown and sexy with each one.
00:54:50Wow.
00:54:53Do we have an arched island with fluted wood?
00:54:57this is a massive island i love how it curves so you can sit here and see who you're talking
00:55:04to
00:55:04and so everybody's part of the conversation yeah it's a two-tone kitchen i think they did it well
00:55:10this ladder you can take it off the track very easily put it on to that side so you can
00:55:16have
00:55:16all your seasonal dishes and everything up there all the way to the ceiling yeah and if you have
00:55:20to get in you just move it to the next one move it i like it i love it actually
00:55:24i love a good
00:55:24sliding ladder all right should we read the card yes please livable locks modern luxury redefined
00:55:32rich materials bring high-end restaurant vibes this is a very elevated space i mean this brass hood
00:55:40is gorgeous and it goes all the way to the ceiling oh this is beautiful look at this does it
00:55:47match
00:55:47the fireplace indeed it does and then the mirror and that light fixture all tying in together
00:55:53that's very luxe that's very well thought out that's good symmetry ah yeah they did a brass
00:56:01sink good job yeah yeah that's good the cooktop range though it's so beautiful up here yeah we
00:56:08have gold trim we have the gold pot filler the gold hood vent and then the rest of the range
00:56:14is missing
00:56:14there's no oven six burners here and there just should be an oven here i love the black cabinetry
00:56:21down here plenty of storage looking back into the morning room i'm not digging this there's no
00:56:27cabinetry in there so i think they missed an opportunity even if they put a bookcase on this
00:56:33wall they could have done that i love how high this entryway is
00:56:41oh well there's your range there's the range there's your full range this is a full second
00:56:47kitchen yeah sink vent hood full range full size refrigerator i love how they did their open floating
00:56:56shelves here oh and there's a pantry keeps going it's huge yes that's a lot of storage yeah
00:57:04they're the only ones that actually created a full pantry this is luxe it feels like the restaurant
00:57:10vibe here this is an upscale entertaining kitchen but this is the thing i don't feel restaurant i know
00:57:15they said it on their card i don't feel that way but they did really really good work in here
00:57:20so now comes the tough part you have to figure out which one of these kitchens

00:58:38the names of the winning team in the kitchen and dining room challenge i have won a kitchen on
00:58:46the block so i know what i'm looking for right you each nailed it i walked in each of your
00:58:52spaces
00:58:52and they all felt like this is home so kudos to all four of you so talk us through your
00:58:58feelings
00:58:58in each house the first house i went into was comfortable elegance who's home was that oh mina and
00:59:05vernon oh my gosh i literally said ty give me the keys i can move in right now the oversized
00:59:13island
00:59:13your huge oversized vent hood your second kitchen i mean tell me when to stop your morning room so
00:59:21comfortable so elegant your bookcase you know i've done libraries on the block i'm in love i'm obsessed
00:59:27we had some room to dial a little bit more into creativity right and just a little bit but you
00:59:34guys
00:59:34nailed that so the next house i saw who did smoky sexy i walked in and i was like this
00:59:41is sexy
00:59:42this is creative the veining on your island countertops it was just gorgeous then i turned around
00:59:48and i'm like oh well there's a mirror i see me this is beautiful i meant your mirror
00:59:57and then i said well let's go into the second kitchen only to realize it's a kitchen extension
01:00:03instead of a second back kitchen area so that's why i kind of went hmm but i understood you know
01:00:10i
01:00:11understand the creative process it worked thank you page thank you okay there's only two left
01:00:16modern hacienda oh my gosh it was beautiful so i'm a double islands girl so when i walked in i
01:00:24was
01:00:24like oh i like this and even your extension of your cabinetry into the morning room to have a coffee
01:00:33bar
01:00:33so much storage the one thing i would have done the plaster that's above i would have just ran it
01:00:39to
01:00:39the ceiling that was a huge missed opportunity the cabinets were definitely buyer specific then i got
01:00:46to the back kitchen and then i turned around i said well what is this and it was a gorgeous
01:00:51sexy bar
01:00:53so now we're talking about added value we're lucky we got the property pro page here yeah knows added value
01:00:59when she sees it well there's another house to get to oh
01:01:02uh-oh listen you're not the only ones on the block
01:01:07right tanya and drew let's get into it i might fall over i'm gonna hold on she latches on every
01:01:12time
01:01:13every livable luxe the grand entrance into your kitchen with a curved island oh i said my god
01:01:23this is beautiful gold vent hood but then you had gorgeous cabinetry going up it was beautiful
01:01:29and may i add they also had a ladder oh a ladder that can get all the way to the
01:01:35top and just adds
01:01:36that little bit of oomph let's jump into the morning room that's where i fell a little flat i would
01:01:40have loved to see a cabinet some form of shelf something then i got to your back kitchen so there
01:01:47are only two kitchens that were two full kitchens you guys were the only ones that closed off that
01:01:52whole space so it did shrink your second kitchen nonetheless you still had a full second kitchen
01:01:57you guys are the only ones with a true walk-in pantry loved it very creative so kudos for that
01:02:03now before i announce the winner remember if you win there is three thousand dollars to be spent

01:03:02i feel like we're unstoppable now yeah i would say we're rocking and rolling so are you going to take
01:03:09the three thousand dollars and use it toward next week's space or are you going to take a thousand
01:03:14dollars and put it toward your final appraisal at the grand finale
01:03:25we are putting our heart and soul into this of course i'm crushed now we have scott and brooke who've
01:03:30won two challenges and we've won zero so i want to use defeat as our ammunition to just push ahead
01:03:38we
01:03:38have to keep going i mean i'm sad that we lost the kitchen i am still winless on the block
01:03:44doesn't feel

01:04:22peers is the
01:04:22ultimate vulnerable moment dang i wanted to hate it i'm very impressed i think they did a really good job
