00:00This emaciated goat was found on the side of the road, afraid, but willing to let humans help her.
00:04My name is Aaliyah and I'm a producer at The Dodo, and when I learned about Meadow the goat,
00:07I had to talk to Austin Farm Sanctuary to learn more about her story.
00:10We found Meadow on the side of the road.
00:13One of our volunteers was leaving the sanctuary, it was a couple of miles down the road,
00:17and she was found incredibly emaciated.
00:19We had figured that she had been dumped there and got her quickly to the emergency hospital,
00:24where we learned that not only was she very emaciated and sick,
00:28but she also had a disease called CL,
00:31this highly contagious disease that many goats that get it are just killed.
00:37Sad, though, that when we rescued Meadow and found out she had CL,
00:41we created her this new and beautiful home, but it meant that she was alone.
00:50Oh my goodness!
00:51She was so gentle and trusting and kind.
00:55It broke your heart a little bit to know that she had been so forgotten.
01:02Here, let's listen to that.
01:04I was happy to see how quickly Meadow connected with the humans that rescued her,
01:08and even happier to learn that she got her own herd.
01:13Meadow entered our lives, which meant we got the opportunity to say yes to Percy and Harvey to come be
01:19her friends.
01:20It led to us now rescuing Poppy, beautiful to see them all together.
01:27And that's what the sanctuary life is all about.
01:29For me, let's go.
01:44You
