00:00Travis Pazana just got called up number one overall pick in 2024 just baseball's number 46
00:06overall prospect sporting a 930 OPS in 24 games with AAA Columbus so far this year now Cleveland
00:14did try Juan Brito for a little bit it seems like Cleveland is in a good spot where they can
00:20try
00:20things and this is a merit-based promotion for Travis Pazana and he will get to make his big
00:28league debut and get an elongated big league look because he has earned this we're also at the point
00:33of the calendar where players cannot accrue a full year of major league service time so this is like
00:39the perfect time and you may see a whole wave of guys that do come up and get this opportunity
00:46a
00:47la Travis Pazana who Cleveland effectively secured for the next seven seasons so happy for Pazana
00:53and Cleveland they were able to play the math game he had plenty to work on in AAA this is
00:57not a
00:57manipulation by any sense but happy for Pazana what are you expecting from Pazana in his first
01:03taste of big league baseball you know I think to be a spark plug that there's no doubt about that
01:08I
01:08mean this guy's going to be electrifying and I think you know whether he's doing that towards the
01:14bottom of the order wherever they're going to hit him there's there's no matching I think Travis
01:18Pazana's energy but this is a team that we always talk about can always use some of that power speed
01:22combination and they've continued to to add that from within to this roster what I'm most excited
01:28about with Pazana too is I think some of the things you wanted to see was a little bit less
01:31whiff see
01:32the defense continue to improve at second base and lean into the ability to get deep into counts but
01:37also not have that result in you know a strikeout rate that creeps closer to 25 percent which is what
01:42we we saw actually 27 percent in 120 plate appearances in AAA last year right Pazana he can whiff a
01:49little
01:49bit because you know he's going to be able to slug a little bit too but you wanted to find
01:52him a way
01:53where he can kind of balance the contact skills as well he's not he's not the 70 hitter I think
01:57that
01:58some thought he was out of college but he's clearly still a guy that is tough to beat within the
02:02zone
02:02and has a really good feel for the zone and I think he found that balance this year through his
02:07117
02:08plate appearances and people might think you know like you alluded to that oh maybe this was
02:12manipulation no this is actually doubled the sample that he got this year doubled the career
02:18plate appearances in AAA he had only had 120 last year and now he's 117 this year he needed a
02:23little
02:23bit more runway there and I think we saw Pazana again improving the swing decisions department to
02:29where he's not just being passive he's being selective and picking his spots to be aggressive
02:33and again improving his ability to fend off two strike pitches and and keep that strikeout rate in
02:38check he's been fantastic in AAA this year and I think for a Guardians team that you know continues to
02:44have some offensive you know excitement here with Angel Martinez we talked about the Delauder you know
02:49addition to this lineup and for a team that's 15 and 15 and a division that's struggling this is a
02:54perfect addition from within to be able to provide a little bit more power potentially even though he's
02:59not slugging like crazy out of the gate on base skills and speed and energy to a team that I
03:05still
03:05think is it's going to be pesky all year long and he adds to it for our video crowd you
03:10were able to
03:10just look at a graphic of the 2024 MLB draft and just a quick screenshot of what went down this
03:15has
03:15the makings of a generational draft and Peyton if you wouldn't mind slapping that up again there we go
03:19so Pazana goes one Chase Burns goes two to Cincinnati Chase Burns is solidifying himself as a young star
03:25on the mound for the Reds Charlie Condon looks the part in AAA Albuquerque for the Rockies it seems like
03:30it's a matter of time before Condon gets going Nick Kurtz is Nick Kurtz he went fourth then you've got
03:35other guys littered here like Caglione went six to Kansas City JJ Weatherholt went seven to the
03:41Cardinals Connor Griffin went nine to the Pirates so many other guys uh Brayden Montgomery swinging
03:46the bat well in the White Sox system Cam Smith was taken 14th overall by the Cubs Carson Benji
03:52Savage went 20 this first round is ridiculous to look at and we're two years removed from this draft
03:59this has to be one of the better looking first rounds that we've seen in recent memory oh yeah
04:05and I mean the Bowman draft prices are reflected if you try to get a box of 2024 Bowman draft
04:10it's
04:10going to cost you an arm and a leg everybody wants those those players in there and I mean you've
04:14got
04:14you've got exciting players already from the second and third round um that are performing as well so
04:19uh that that draft class has a chance to go down yeah as one of the best we've seen in
04:24a while which
04:24is funny because you remember some of the things that were being said about that draft class
04:27going into it god I remember someone said it was uh excrement yeah yeah we can't use that word on
04:34sports grid here um so no I think that it's that's going to age poorly because clearly um you know
04:40this is this is a draft that's getting continues to only age well uh as guys continue to get more
04:45reps
04:45the last thing I'll mention is you bring up uh Bazana here Schneeman can has been amazing to start
04:51the year he can play everywhere you can move him now to the outfield where it seems like in the
04:55early
04:56going here there could be a little bit more production had from the corner outfield spots you know for
05:00the guardians so and I think they just got Valera back off the IL maybe you're easing him into action
05:05a little bit you mentioned Brito he's kind of struggled in this utility role I think it allows
05:10Schneeman to move around more you put Bazana at second and I think the lineup is going to be better
05:14for it it is very lefty heavy and that is one thing to note here with this uh with this
05:19lineup is
05:20there's a lot of lefties but that's why the bench is you know pretty much all righties or switch
05:25hitters um and and that's going to just be the guardian way and they're going to mix and match and
05:29platoon their way to success
