01:12Hi, my name is Dan Asano, and this is Volume 2, and Knife Defense Tactics.
01:18In the double-diagnosis system or the double-knife system, there are nine methods that are used in the Lacoste
01:23system, so I'm going to explain it to you.
01:24You can have both knives pointed up, or both what they call heavy grip.
01:28This is very standard when you do double-knife fighting.
01:31The second position is when you have both knives down in double ice-stick grip or double what we refer
01:37to as ice-stick grip position or double pakao position.
01:40Then the other third method is when you have one pointing up and one pointing down.
01:45The other way is just the reverse of that.
01:47These are the first four methods that they teach in double-knife fighting.
01:50Then you have this position where it's double-knife striking on this side, and you have a single and thrusting
01:59on this side.
02:00The next position is this, very common.
02:04Then you reverse it so that you have one position down and one position up, and the ninth position is
02:13when you have double-dyer up here.
02:15When you use this, that means one knife sometimes is used as a projectile weapon, and sometimes you have a
02:21knife sort of made like this,
02:23where it's already double-knife, and you just hold it in that position, and you use it.
02:27Because it's very, very important that you utilize all the different ways.
02:30And then sometimes you have an uneven knife, where it's like this, or like that.
02:37You notice that one knife is longer than the other.
02:39These are all part of the double-dyer system, and then one knife that's placed in this position, and then
02:44this position.
02:45If you learn this position, then from this position here, you'll find out that all the basics come from this
02:52position here,
02:53what we call double-heaven position.
02:55So I'm going to start off now with the basics.
02:57So I'm going to hand, I'll rip this.
02:59And these are the basics that should give you the understanding.
03:02There's nothing like sparring this.
03:04When you spar, you should have arm protector like this, on this side here.
03:09Actually, you should have goggles in your eyes, and you should have hand guard here, and a hand guard here,
03:15which we didn't bring.
03:16But if you have a hand guard, so you can really smash the knuckle, or slice the knuckle, or no
03:21one will get hurt.
03:22So this nail on the double-dyer system, which is the fourth system, the La Casa system, teaches you how
03:27to use both left and right.
03:29So I'm going to start with the first basic.
03:31If there is a slash, this is sagant, and you ride it into the body, and eject here.
03:38And you stop the force, ride it into the body high, or low, and eject here.
03:45That's the first one.
03:46I'm going to repeat this again.
03:47You stop the force, you ride it into the body, and eject.
03:52And you stop the force, you ride it into the body, and eject.
04:01And you ride it into the body, like this, pin it down, and eject.
04:11That is what we refer to as sejong, which means to block, sakai, which means to ride, and strike here,
04:22in this position.
04:22And you go back to that position again, go in, and eject.
04:27These are drills, so you understand.
04:29Now, the next one is called gunty.
04:31It literally means sit.
04:32See?
04:33The difference between the first and the other side comes together like this, or like this, and you take it
04:39out.
04:40Again, slow motion, sit in the block, sit in the block, and out.
04:48Okay, last time.
04:49You want to over-exaggerate this.
04:51Over here.
04:52We go into it, into the body.
04:55We go into it, into the body.
04:58Okay.
04:58The other one is what we call sakai.
05:01It is done strictly with this hand here, to corkscrew down, and strictly with this hand, to corkscrew it down,
05:08and to strike.
05:09That is very, very important.
05:10One more time, very, very slow.
05:11You ride it into the body.
05:15You notice that the sack will be right here.
05:17So you want to be able to ride it, and pin it, and then you jack it.
05:22That is a con.
05:24Very, very important.
05:25Now, the other one, when he strikes, you're slashing and going to this position.
05:30Right.
05:31This is what you're going to do as a wing, and you shoot it, and you back out.
05:37One more time.
05:38Notice his hand is like that.
05:39But this hand is on the top, or it can be on the bottom.
05:42This hand can thrust, or that hand can thrust, and down.
05:44We're slowing it down just so you can just see the back.
05:47See how this one comes out?
05:48Here, and out.
05:50On the ride, we have what we call the corkscrewing of the hand down.
05:56The corkscrewing is very important, because if you don't corkscrew, this is going to come
05:59out and slash here, so now you're going to have to come to the other side.
06:02That's what it's called the ride.
06:03Then you can't do it.
06:05All right?
06:06This is very important.
06:08Okay?
06:08Now, the reason why this is so important, the slash motion, because this is teaching you
06:13how to ride it quickly, because when you don't have a weapon, it's going to teach you
06:17how to do it backwards.
06:17All right, see, that's very important, because when you do the empty hand, if you kick it
06:21off, you're going to learn how to do it, how to ride it.
06:24All right.
06:24I'm going to go on, on this.
06:27Okay?
06:28If it's a thrust, the first one is a ride over the body.
06:32You ride it over the body, and you take it out.
06:35As the other one is not a ride over the body.
06:38You block it, but you scoop it out to here, and then eject.
06:41You scoop it out to here, and then eject.
06:44All right?
06:45The other one is what we call cover and thrust, which is this, see?
06:50Cover and thrust.
06:52Now, the cover and thrust can be done with the forearm.
06:54Notice my forearm is here, all right?
06:57And the forearm is here, okay?
07:00But it can also be done with the knife itself being here, and the knife itself being here.
07:07Now, the X, we commonly call them our academy, but the key Kirshen method is the X, but it's
07:12cutting here, and it's thrust in here.
07:15And we're, obviously, this knife being, you always want to zone away from the other knife
07:21in that position.
07:22All right, any time the thing goes through, and then the slash is wide, you want a third
07:26hit.
07:27It is best to not to disarm it here.
07:29If you disarm it here, see?
07:32And he has another blade here, see?
07:34He's stabbing.
07:35So, it is best that we pass it like that, and zone here, so we have time to come in
07:41here
07:41and take it out.
07:42It's very, very important.
07:44Okay, one more time again.
07:45So, on the three-line, it's best to slash, thrust.
07:49Zone away from both knives.
07:51See, this way, you see how I'm always zoned away from both knives.
07:54See, that goes here.
07:57All right.
07:58You'll notice that the hand, in any case, will be faced this way.
08:01If the knife is faced this way, the extraction will be down.
08:06If the knife is faced like this, at that point, your knife extraction will be on this
08:11side.
08:11Again, one more time, see?
08:13Because if my knife is here, the extraction will be on the side.
08:16If the knife is pointed down, his palm is down like this, in this position here, right
08:21here, see, then the extraction will be here, if you want to extract.
08:24You can always go into striking hands, and that's very important.
08:29Okay, now let's take a scenario.
08:30Let's say that he strikes with angle one, and I ride to here.
08:36Now he strikes low, I cover back, he strikes here.
08:39You've got it back to angle one, see?
08:41And you take it back to here.
08:42Okay, one more time again.
08:44In the event that you drop this, you thrust, you thrust, but he comes low, see?
08:50You take it out.
08:51If you grab this, you scoop it back here, and then take it out here.
08:56All right, now, in the reverse position, sometimes you would start with this hand here.
09:01With the right hand up high, you go in, see?
09:05Now, I'm not able to disarm it here.
09:07I'm not even going to do this one, and I'm not able to do this one, because I just wrote
09:10it down.
09:10But that one comes low, see, now I have to go from here.
09:13I'm going to go after here.
09:14I still go here, see?
09:15This isn't way of long, it's going here, see?
09:17You take it out.
09:19All right, one more time.
09:20Now, we can also start at the low line first, and do this, and then the high line will go
09:25here.
09:26You want to throw it away from that other hand, so it comes in.
09:29One more time.
09:30Same thing.
09:31This one comes high, that one comes high.
09:34And you have to know whether it's going to be low or high.
09:37See if you reverse that, on this side here, where you come to this position, see?
09:42And you come to that position, here, you take it out.
09:46These are the lines that you're going to have to take.
09:47Okay, so, in the event, let's look at this scenario.
09:51You can have this knife high, and this will low.
09:56And then that will come up to high again, see?
09:58You don't know when you're going to, you might be able not to dislodge it here.
10:02As soon as you come low, you don't try to get in here like this.
10:04And then you're going to come back to here, and take it out.
10:07If you start on the other side, sometimes I will use this hand, and I'll cut here.
10:11If you notice the cut here, and that's going to be here, and that's going to be here.
10:14But I'm not able to disarm it.
10:15So, I go here, and strip it.
10:17I come here, I ride it.
10:19You hit it again.
10:20You come in, strip it.
10:22You're on the basis that you will have in the movements of the double die graph.
10:27Disarm it.
10:28I started to teach knife fighting or knife survival tactics or knife defense tactics against
10:36knife because I think it's important for people to be educated to learn how to deal, how to
10:41go against knife.
10:42I think, in my opinion, it is very humbling because no matter how quick you are, on any
10:47given day, your reflex might be slow, and the knife can strike.
10:51So, therefore, I started to openly start to teach knife tactics defense to first and only
11:00at that time to law enforcement people because I wanted them to be aware that sometimes even
11:05with a handgun at 15 or 18 or 20 feet away, if the gun is not clear of the holster,
11:13the knife
11:13sometimes can beat it.
11:14And we've made a lot of practice on that, a lot of research, a lot of experiment on that.
11:20And if you're sometimes 18 feet and you're not ready, then you have to be educated how
11:26to use that handgun safely.
11:28So, my purpose in opening it was to teach first and only law enforcement people to use the bladed
11:38weapon or how to deal with it, not that they were going to use it.
11:41The second was to teach military personnel.
11:45People I taught it to would be like Frank Coochie, because at that time he was a Navy SEAL and
11:54I think he still is, and Pat Trey, they're Navy SEALs, and I taught it to people who later
12:00on taught Special Forces, who later on taught Army Rangers, who later on taught airborne groups,
12:10and different, what we call cooperative, co-op groups, to make sure that they were well-trained.
12:19And so, most of the groups I taught were overt, operational people that taught them that.
12:25And so that's why I thought it was important at that time to bring it out.
12:29I wasn't quite sure if it was good for the entire public, but I think it's important now
12:35that people know and are educated how to deal against a knife.
12:41Not that we ever want to glorify knife fighting, because I don't think that's where it's at.
12:46I think that you should use the material on the tapes that I'm going to be showing as kind
12:54of a way to educate you and better deal if you had to go against a knife attack or a
13:01dagger attack.
13:02Not that we are going to use it offensively, but so that we can better deal with any kind
13:07of a knife threat or a knife attack.
13:10And I think that's important, and I feel that is important.
13:13And I'm not teaching the offensive side of the knife.
13:16I'm teaching the defensive side of the knife, which I feel is very, very, very important to deal.
13:22Because in this day and age, the statistics in the United States change all the time.
13:27But it will run up 80%, possibly to 90% that all assaults are done, not with the empty hand,
13:36whether it be grappling or striking.
13:38It is done with an implement, some kind of an impact weapon or some sort of a blighted weapon.
13:43And I think we have to be educated to learn how to go against it, not just the military.
13:51Because I think in this day and age, I think the education of how to go against a knife
13:55or what to do or possibly do against a knife is very, very important in our survival.
14:02Sometimes the point of the knife can be this way and the double dagger is just going to
14:05hit him like this.
14:06It can be like this, or both can be held like this.
14:10I'm going to explain why they do this.
14:12When you strike, if you meet the force, you notice that one hand will go here.
14:19This one hand will dip up and then come to this position.
14:23He puts it back on his right hand again.
14:26Sometimes my palm is down, so it's going to move like this.
14:35Sometimes my palm will be up, so you get the high one first, you get the low one second,
14:41and don't wait for that one because it's low, so you have the shot here already.
14:45And then you have the strip, you have the low line, you have the upper cut.
14:49So automatically this is slashing and thrusting and striking.
14:54Okay.
14:55All right.
14:56So now a lot of times it will be reversed, but the knife will be like this.
15:00So this will still ride, and this will still hit, and this will still slash.
15:05And this will come slowly in that position, see?
15:08So if I meet like this, and I come to that position, the slash, the thrust, the jet.
15:13And this one comes down, again, one more time slowly.
15:16You'll notice that this one has a choice of slashing and thrusting.
15:19If it comes down, this thing's running in here ready, then it comes down.
15:24If you want to close again, on these low lines that I'm doing, it's not really blocking.
15:29Notice how it goes to target.
15:31If it goes to the low line on that side here, see if it goes to target.
15:37So that's what you're going to be doing.
15:38This is very important that you have.
15:40So anytime you have your hand like this, this has a choice to go both ways.
15:44You can cut with the lower end of the knife, the upper cut of the knife, the strike,
15:47then it comes to this position, and then if it comes to the target,
15:50and the low line is going to be back here and in and take it out.
15:53All right, so this is what we call the application of the double diving system.
15:58As I said before, any numbering system is good.
16:00The Lacasa system is good.
16:02The Lestrissimo system is good.
16:03The Petite Tershift under Tuha Lio Gai system is good.
16:06The Pilibreo system is good.
16:08The Lameco system is good.
16:09They all have a numbering system, but for the purpose of this videotape,
16:12I'm going to show you the Lacasa system.
16:14This is a numbering system which also attacks the anatomical portions of the body,
16:20the vital points, and it also helps the student understand where these lines of attack are coming from.
16:27So again, I'm going to go very slow.
16:28This is number one, number two, number three, number four, number five is here,
16:35number six is here, number seven is the thrust, number eight is the zipper,
16:41and nine and ten are at the low line, eleven and twelve are upper cut.
16:46Then you have a thirteen that attacks the anat, fourteen that attacks the anat,
16:50the fifteen can be short or it can be wide.
16:52The sixteen you're going to slash, and then this is the upper thrust.
16:56There's a lot going to be key tertiary system.
16:59You can see it like that.
17:01Okay, I'm going to repeat this again very slow.
17:03Angle one, angle two, angle three, angle four, angle five, angle six is the thrust,
17:10angle seven is the thrust, eight, nine and ten, eleven, and twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen.
17:20And this should also be learned with the one and two also on this side here.
17:25For the purpose of the film now, I'm just going to show the reverse grip.
17:27That's one, this is two, this is three, this is four.
17:32You've pumped the five to the thrust, six disengaged, and you'll set.
17:35Eight is a rip, nine and ten are low, eleven and twelve are upper cut, thirteen is horizontal,
17:41the fourteen, then you go with the vertical rip, diagonal rip, and you pivot to the upper cut position.
17:47This is very important now that you get in this case.
17:51And then you should practice this if you have time with the left hand.
17:54That's angle one, angle two, angle three, angle four, angle five, angle six, angle seven, angle eight.
18:03Nine is at the kneecap, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, and then seventeen you come up.
18:13Alright, notice that I have a single and he has a double.
18:15So obviously this man has superior tools when he has two hands.
18:18So you must never fight this system here.
18:22This one always has to be positioned here.
18:24So you want to make this one first.
18:26If you're over here, you're going to fight a two-front war.
18:29Like this.
18:30Over here, this body is in line for that one when it comes.
18:34Or in the same position, you want to be here.
18:36So when he makes a motion like this, you want to always be here.
18:39Always back to here.
18:41See?
18:41Always back to here.
18:43And if you have to take it out, always keep on moving until that person moves.
18:47In the motion of this, you want to be in constant play.
18:50Alright, one more time again.
18:51See?
18:52Sometimes you cannot take it out here.
18:54So what you do is you just go here and face the other guy.
18:59See?
18:59The other guy is here.
19:00See?
19:01You can take the knife at the second time.
19:05That's important.
19:06Because you want to be able to take it here.
19:08See?
19:08You want to take it back.
19:11Okay?
19:12Hold on.
19:12Sometimes the knife is in reverse.
19:15If you look closely over here.
19:17Okay?
19:18Sometimes this knife will come first on the thrust.
19:21Sometimes this will come with a scoop.
19:24Sometimes you're going to go back here.
19:25So you want to zone away from here.
19:27And then if you go to slice, you want to make that.
19:30And you have the same distance that you have.
19:32Okay?
19:33I'll isolate this so you can understand this.
19:35Sometimes this person will thrust this way.
19:37And he will thrust this way.
19:39He'll either do it this way or this way.
19:41So if you come with this, just tap this on here.
19:44Again, we have the same basics here.
19:47Okay?
19:47Back.
19:48Out.
19:50Keep the value or not.
19:52See?
19:52This is a tap.
19:54See?
19:54This is the thrust.
19:55This is the ejection.
19:57It becomes a tap.
19:58So you move here.
19:59And then you eject it out.
20:00Keep the knife.
20:00And I keep that.
20:01One more time slowly again.
20:02This is one.
20:03See?
20:04This is two.
20:05Three.
20:06One.
20:07And then out.
20:09That's important.
20:10Okay?
20:10Now, you'll notice closely.
20:12If he's wide, there's best to cover the thrust.
20:16If he's narrow, like this, you want to back off and catch it here.
20:21Even if it can't get up here, always go to that position.
20:25And keep it in the right direction.
20:26He's out.
20:27Okay?
20:28Now, this is important.
20:29Because if you have to, this will keep you moving.
20:33So in other words, in the event he taps with this hand first, and you tap with that one
20:38second.
20:39See?
20:39Your hand position should be here.
20:41See?
20:42And out.
20:42And look kind of slow.
20:43There's a few variations here that you can do.
20:46Okay?
20:47So when he taps here, you just tap him.
20:49See?
20:49When he slashes here, you're going to come out.
20:52He might come back to this position again.
20:54You might come in this position straight.
20:56He might come back to here, and you take it out and extract it.
21:01Again, a lot of times, if you notice closely, a little slow.
21:05If you tap him here, and he comes overhead, like this.
21:10And I put, you can use this one.
21:12You can use this one.
21:14If he's overhead at this angle here, there's a vertical diagonal.
21:19If it's more diagonal, you insert your hand like this.
21:23And again, you see, when that comes here, you can slash the thrust and eject it out here.
21:27Okay?
21:28If he's more vertical on that approach, which is here, see?
21:32You're going to tap it, and you're going to go here.
21:34But one time this hand will turn.
21:36It's going to kind of stay here because this handle is going to turn here, see?
21:40So now we're going to turn it out here, back here.
21:43And that's the very other positions here that we're going to work.
21:46Okay?
21:46So again, you're going to have an attack that's more horizontal like this.
21:50So you're going to have to dip it like that and catch it here, and then shoot it out.
21:54And then shoot it right here.
21:56If it's more vertical, you have a choice of actually going here.
22:00And that would be like diagonal.
22:02And then next one would be vertical down.
22:04You can take it to the inside like this.
22:07And the hand will be here, so you can eject it.
22:09I'm going to take the hand here.
22:11Okay?
22:12All right?
22:13I'm going to try slowly again.
22:14Okay?
22:15So isolating this hand here, sometimes it's vertical.
22:18If it's straight vertical from coming at this angle here like this, you want to come back here.
22:23However, if it has a slight grip of a diagonal angle like that, see?
22:27That's kind of a lean to take out.
22:31If it goes wider, it would be illogical to come out sideways, see?
22:35Because you're bringing it to yourself.
22:36As this one would be more logical across, see?
22:39And then take it out there.
22:41Again, the low line here.
22:42On seminars, sometimes I have a problem teaching night tactics to people I don't really know.
22:50So I even question myself if this is the right time to bring it out.
22:55But a lot of times on a seminar, these people have been training with me as much as two, three,
23:01four, five years.
23:02So I feel that I know them.
23:04Everyone can use any kind of knowledge incorrectly.
23:08But because most of these people I've seen on a seminar, I don't mind teaching.
23:13I don't like teaching people I don't know night tactics.
23:16Because I feel it is dangerous and I don't feel comfortable teaching people.
23:21But for the majority part, I kind of know most of the people on seminars.
23:25So I can deal with that much better.
23:27In the earlier years, because I didn't know a lot of people, I couldn't deal with it.
23:31Therefore, I didn't want to teach knife situation.
23:33If I did teach anything in knife, it would be empty hand versus knife.
23:37But somehow in the Filipino martial art, we like to teach the knife versus knife first.
23:43Or two knives versus one in all the different grips.
23:46Because they feel that unless you yourself are a knife fighter,
23:50you cannot deal with a trained knife fighter.
23:52Because a trained knife fighter knows what he's doing.
23:56He knows how to set up.
23:57He knows how to give what we call the ingangiru or the alingana.
24:00Or to set up the lansi, the faking.
24:04And how to set up the different slashes and strikes with the implement.
24:10So I feel that when you teach this knife fighter, it really has to be taught with reservation.
24:20And you want to make sure that the people you're teaching with are of good character.
24:24And I can't always judge that on a seminar, but I'd like to think that everyone I've ever shared with.
24:32And I know with law enforcement people, I feel we've done a pretty good job on that and spreading it
24:38out.
24:38Because when I teach people, they teach law enforcement people and I know they're doing a good job.
24:42I have a lot of people teaching law enforcement people, a lot of people teaching federal agents.
24:48They do a great job on that.
24:50I know some of my people have taught FBI and some of my people have taught other agencies.
24:56And I think they do a good job in at least educating the people that have to deal with it
25:03more.
25:05So I'm reassured that the people we're giving it to are important.
25:10Now putting it on a video tape is another thing, but I still feel we're going to educate the public.
25:17And educating the public, we're going to hope that these people who use the knowledge of this tape,
25:23even on this basic level that I'm showing it, as a way to prepare themselves in case they have to
25:31deal with it.
25:31And let's hope no one ever has to deal with it because it's a very scary situation.
25:37And so I'd like just to think that on the seminar we're going to hit the right people.
25:44And I hope the people that see this video will use it in the right morality.
25:50This next thing, there's a lot of different variations you can use.
25:53And what you've got to do is find the variation that fits you.
25:55Just like in judo, if you have 56 throws, most people use only two or three or four,
26:00possibly even five throws.
26:02And what works for one person may not work for another person.
26:04That's very, very important.
26:05You've got to really personalize any system you're wearing for yourself.
26:10Okay, the reason why we hold hands is simply this.
26:12If he has a knife, a low line, and you tap this knife here, and he taps my knife hand
26:18here,
26:18see there's a motion here.
26:19So a lot of times when he thrusts me, the first one I see is coming here, so I close
26:23it, I change grip, and I give it back.
26:26Okay, one more time slowly, see?
26:28My hand positions like this.
26:30He comes in, I put it to this position, I squeeze it with my armpit, and bicep, change hands, and
26:38extract it here.
26:39Last time.
26:40So when you're moving like this, and you're playing around like this, and he thrusts with me, I let him
26:44come in,
26:45I pinch it with my bicep, and the side of my body, change hands, and I thrust.
26:51Okay.
26:51On this next one over here a lot of times, you're going to start off with the same hand.
26:55Remember before, I said, if he thrusts this, and I thrust him, and he doesn't have it,
26:58you might go like that, and I will hold him, heel hold.
27:01Now when he thrusts, notice I'm going to capture the armpit, I'm going to lift it here, and it's going
27:07to come to this position.
27:07One more time slowly again, see?
27:10If you're here like this, he thrusts, you come in, pinch it, lift here, and you thrust.
27:17Okay, one more time.
27:18He thrusts, he comes in, you pinch it, and you thrust.
27:23Okay, that will be one of the variables that we're going to use.
27:26Now this variable over here sometimes, sometimes when you hold a hand like this, you notice that this will come
27:32out,
27:33and this hand will screw.
27:35What this does here, is when he's holding, I push in, and I turn, I slash, and I keep the
27:42knife.
27:43Okay, one more time.
27:45Third time.
27:46Okay?
27:46So when my hand is like this, I push in, so he's going to resist me from cutting.
27:50I go against the thumb, I slash, I thrust, I stretch.
27:55That's the other guy right there.
27:56A lot of times here, when you're in this position, if you're moving like this, and you can put it
28:01here,
28:01you can use his arm to distract him.
28:04Okay, one more time, using his arm.
28:07He comes back here, and I thrust.
28:08I use his arm to .
28:11Third time.
28:12I go like this.
28:13I use his arm.
28:15Also, when I'm going into this position, and I go like this, but in, I can use my forearm.
28:21Make sure that you use it, you don't cut yourself with the edge of the weapon.
28:24See?
28:24You just move it like this.
28:26Okay?
28:27Third and final time, so you can see the extraction here.
28:30Okay?
28:31So when the extraction here, like this, is coming like this, you want to strip it with your arm
28:35like this.
28:36That's very, very important.
28:38Okay?
28:38The other way is, sometimes, if I'm going like this, if he has his right foot down, like
28:42this, and I'm going like this, you drop the body weight down here.
28:46See?
28:47That makes him release the diagram.
28:48Okay?
28:48One more time.
28:49That's if his right foot is forward.
28:51See?
28:52Like this, the body weight, if his wrist is hard to hold down here, and then you can extract
28:56it using his arm.
28:57Okay?
28:58The third time, very slowly.
28:59Okay?
29:00I drop my body weight down, and I strip it.
29:03Now, if his left leg is forward, like this, I drop the body weight down.
29:09Make sure you don't get it yourself, but drop the body weight down, and extract it.
29:12Okay?
29:13Again, slowly, the second time.
29:15Hit, and extract.
29:17Okay?
29:18The third time, here.
29:20Down, and extract.
29:22This will be found in the Ilostrisimo system, in the Lacazza system, and the Piketty Turgic
29:26system.
29:27All right?
29:27Now, a lot of times, the hand is like this.
29:30This is risky, but it will work.
29:31You stretch up the strikes, and then you strip it out.
29:36Okay?
29:36Risky, but at a time.
29:38Sometimes, what is garbage is the one person.
29:40This person makes it very, very easy to perform.
29:44So, you have to find out what works for you and what not.
29:46So, what this hand is, is he's running this.
29:49He's stripping it up.
29:50He's slashing the inner thigh.
29:51He's coming out.
29:53And he's .
29:54Okay?
29:55Last time, so you can see this.
29:56Very slowly came.
29:57So, when the position is like this.
29:59You're rusting.
30:01You dry the body.
30:02Cut the inner thigh.
30:06All right.
30:07These are some of the basic ones that you will learn.
30:10Okay?
30:10A lot of times, the other variation is this.
30:13And he holds the hand like this.
30:16Sometimes, you want to direct that into the body.
30:19So, when you're playing around like this, if you can make him come in here, use his own body.
30:24Okay?
30:25Or, if he comes around like this, use your own triangle.
30:28One more time.
30:30So, you have to feel it.
30:31Because in the struggle here, there's going to be a play for struggle.
30:33So, sometimes, you can use his forearm.
30:37Okay?
30:38Or, you can use your forearm or his triangle.
30:42All this is coming into the play.
30:44So, this is when his hand is in this position.
30:47And your hand is like that.
30:48He's trying to come down to him.
30:50He's coming down, coming down, coming down.
30:51See, I move it to here.
30:52Now, that's the extraction.
30:54That's the cut here.
30:55Okay?
30:55One more time.
30:56So, a lot of times, you're stroking here.
30:58Let him penetrate so you can switch it.
31:00Use this portion.
31:02Come out.
31:03Okay?
31:03Third and final time on that one.
31:04All right?
31:05So, in this position here, he is taking advantage.
31:09And he has the power over.
31:10So, you let him come in as close as you can.
31:12But use it.
31:13Okay?
31:14Okay.
31:17The next techniques we're going to show, they're counters to kind of a hostage situation.
31:21Kidnap situation.
31:23Use knots for sentry.
31:24You move.
31:25Let's go through.
31:26Okay?
31:26So, one particular way is when they're trying to bring him in.
31:30They'll hold him like that and try to walk him to a certain place.
31:33Or, they might grab the other hand and sometimes the knife is in the front.
31:37And sometimes the knife is in the rear.
31:40Or, it is still done this way like this.
31:43In the position like this.
31:44Okay?
31:45Or, having, holding the arm like this.
31:48Or, the knife is in the rear.
31:50Another situation that's very common is that they'll hold it like this.
31:56Another common situation, they'll hold the slash like this.
32:01Another common situation, they'll hold the thrust like this.
32:05These are all basic combinations.
32:07These are very difficult to get out, particularly with a sharp knife.
32:10Or, we'll just take some of the basics.
32:12Alright.
32:12This knife is held here.
32:14Okay?
32:15And it's pressed in here.
32:16You want to slap that hand.
32:18Okay?
32:18One more time slowly.
32:19So, you can see.
32:21So, the nearest hand, he's really pushing it like that.
32:23See?
32:24One more time.
32:26Alright?
32:27When you hold it to this position, you want to pin it.
32:30See this cut is going to be right here.
32:32That's the thrust.
32:33At that time, you can almost go into any martial art that you want to go into.
32:37Okay?
32:38For that, now, you should practice it also on this side again.
32:41Okay?
32:42Take the nearest hand.
32:43This is farther out.
32:44So, you're going to pin and you thrust.
32:46This is the hand.
32:48Sometimes, one more time slowly.
32:50On this side here.
32:51Okay?
32:51When it's in this position, see?
32:53Sometimes, because your body's like that, you might slap here first.
32:57Eject it on his arm.
32:58Those are some of the possibilities that might work.
33:01Okay?
33:02When it's on the body like this.
33:04Okay?
33:05And the hand position like this.
33:07Okay?
33:07And he's holding the arm on this side here like that.
33:09You want to pin it here.
33:10If you notice closely what's happening here, since you cut.
33:14Okay?
33:14I'll do this very very slow.
33:16This is now.
33:16The hand is too.
33:17You want to pin it to the left hand.
33:19Okay?
33:19Butt.
33:20Knee.
33:21Going to the east end.
33:22There are many different variations you can do.
33:24You have to be able to adapt because the technique might not work exactly the way it is taught.
33:29Okay?
33:29So if the hand.
33:30Notice one scenario.
33:32The hand will be in front.
33:34Or the hand will be in the rear.
33:38Okay?
33:38Okay.
33:39Let's just go through this against that.
33:40Okay?
33:41So if the hand is here.
33:42And he's holding the hand here.
33:43Right?
33:44I can't use this hand.
33:47Look at the base.
33:49That's what you want to be able to do.
33:51Take the base out.
33:53If your hand is free.
33:55Or the hand is around like that.
33:56You can tap with your right hand.
33:58Or you can tap with your left hand.
33:59If you tap with your left hand.
34:01You reject it.
34:02If you tap with your right hand like this.
34:04You still use the same base.
34:06See?
34:06Sometimes the hand is still here.
34:07You can still use a knife in that manner.
34:09That will also.
34:11Can be used for this position here.
34:13Okay?
34:14You want to move the base here.
34:16See the arm here.
34:17It's pinning.
34:18Move your foot behind.
34:20Use the extraction like that.
34:22You can take it out.
34:23Okay?
34:23We're going to try it slowly.
34:24Okay?
34:25This hand is too far out.
34:27See?
34:27This hand has a pin.
34:28This hand has a pin.
34:30You extract here.
34:32Okay?
34:33Now the toughest and the hardest one to get out.
34:37Is when the hand has a pin.
34:37Then you hold it right here.
34:38On the back here.
34:39Like that.
34:40What you want to do is lean it.
34:41And you jack it.
34:42One more time.
34:43Oh, this is slow.
34:44You see the hand.
34:45I push it here.
34:46I pull down with this.
34:47I reject it like that.
34:48Sometimes you can pull the knife out.
34:50Okay?
34:51Alright.
34:51One more time.
34:52Now watch how I lean the body.
34:54See how the body has been lean now.
34:56See if you extract it.
34:58One time again.
34:59See?
34:59If I don't lean like this.
35:01Then I have to pin on this.
35:04Okay?
35:04One more time.
35:04I'll move very, very slow.
35:05See the hand.
35:06You can use this hand.
35:08To extract it with the left hand.
35:10However.
35:11If it's cross body like this.
35:13You can use his.
35:15Forearm.
35:16Or.
35:17If it's not the official one.
35:18You can use your hand here.
35:20See how I pull it in.
35:21The key thing here though.
35:23Is one of you.
35:23Because he's going to be tight.
35:25You just want to drop.
35:26Body weight.
35:27And strip it.
35:28Knee.
35:29Kick.
35:29Whatever is available.
35:31For you at that point.
35:32Okay?
35:33The hardest in my opinion.
35:35Is this one here.
35:36Okay?
35:37Because the cutting edge is here.
35:39This hand will be here.
35:40But you want to hold down here.
35:42This is the last.
35:42You want to turn over the body here like that.
35:45That's it.
35:45That's your last chance.
35:46Because this is the hardest one.
35:48And if it's holding really tight.
35:49It's already digging into the skin here.
35:50It's very hard.
35:51So.
35:52Look at my little foot.
35:53How it comes here.
35:54And I want to turn over the body.
35:56And put the knife in here like this.
35:57Last time.
35:58Okay?
35:59So he's going to be holding tight.
36:00And if my body goes out balanced.
36:02It becomes extremely.
36:03If he has him up here like this.
36:04It's going to be very difficult.
36:05You want to hold on to this.
36:06It's your last chance.
36:07You want to turn behind.
36:08And put the body in the knife into this position like that.
36:12This is probably the most common scenarios you would have from that position.
36:16If the knife is here.
36:18Extremely tough.
36:20Extremely tough.
36:21What you want to do.
36:22Is.
36:22Move your body.
36:24Into the body.
36:25And take it out wherever you need.
36:26Okay?
36:27So the hand position here.
36:29Is like that.
36:30See?
36:30You want to pay it.
36:30See?
36:31You want to move your body as much as you can.
36:33Hold this arm here.
36:33You can extract it.
36:36Okay?
36:37In the position here that you have.
36:39See?
36:39Because he's holding this arm.
36:41See?
36:41I can't.
36:42Won't be able to do this.
36:42The only problem with this.
36:43So at this point.
36:44You want to take body weight down.
36:46Inject it.
36:47Turn the body.
36:49It's not going to be this easy.
36:51But these will give you some.
36:52We call it.
36:53A possible way.
36:54Or a possible solution.
36:56So that you can counter.
36:57Because none of these are very, very difficult.
36:59This is just like baseball.
37:02Even if you're a good ball player.
37:05And you hit 300.
37:06Or whatever you hit.
37:08Okay?
37:08That doesn't mean.
37:10You're going to be successful.
37:11And you're going to have to play.
37:12Some days you'll be very, very successful.
37:15You'll get a base hit.
37:16And some days you will strike out.
37:17It's the same way.
37:18If your timing is off.
37:20It won't work.
37:21But this gives you at least a solution.
37:24It gives you at least an option.
37:25Because these are very, very difficult ones.
37:27It cannot be.
37:28It gives you an option.
37:29And that's what you want to at least have an option to do.
37:31If you decide to go for it.
37:33I think the knife training does develop great attributes.
37:38Reflex.
37:39Timing.
37:40Speed.
37:41Understanding of distance.
37:43And it will really quicken the reflex.
37:45I think if you train a knife fighting.
37:48Particularly in the sparring part.
37:49It really makes the reflex faster.
37:51You become aware of the different angles.
37:55When a person attacks.
37:56You become familiar with that.
37:59Because unless you're familiar with these angles.
38:01You cannot deal with it.
38:03That's why they say you must be a knife fighter.
38:05To go against a knife fighter.
38:07Because to understand a knife fighter.
38:08You yourself have to be a knife fighter.
38:10And it brings great attributes.
38:12As a sport.
38:13Not really stabbing a person.
38:14But using a rubber knife.
38:16Using a plastic knife.
38:17It does produce the reflex.
38:19And it does produce what I call the mobility system.
38:22And in a close quarter.
38:24When you can't use the mobility.
38:25It produces the hand reflex.
38:27You kind of know.
38:28Which way to go.
38:29Which way to.
38:30It's going to slash.
38:31Or possibly it slashes.
38:32And I think.
38:33This is very very important.
38:35In the developing of a.
38:36A well rounded.
38:38Or multidimensional martial artist.
38:40No matter how many energy drills you have.
38:43It is essential that you spar.
38:45But you want to do this thing.
38:46Just relax.
38:48Try to do the best you can.
38:49You're going to have good days.
38:50You're going to have bad days.
38:51And that's okay.
38:52Because that's the way training is.
38:53Alright.
38:54So.
38:54I'm going to.
38:55Bring you through all of them.
38:56The first way to allow.
38:57To spar.
38:58They're not going to really spar.
38:58They're just mimicking.
39:00He will use his right hand.
39:01And he will use his right hand.
39:03In what we call.
39:04Head and grip.
39:04So if they're just moving around.
39:06This is the first method.
39:07They should be sparring.
39:08Like this.
39:09And they're just laying around.
39:10Like this.
39:10Now.
39:11Then.
39:12He should learn to go against.
39:13A right hand person.
39:14In the Pacal position.
39:16And you should learn how to do it.
39:17In the long end position.
39:18And you spar again.
39:19And they'll be moving like this.
39:20Back of here.
39:22And then time.
39:24Okay.
39:24Then the next method.
39:25Is that he will have a Pacal position.
39:28You will have a long end position.
39:29And you start to spar.
39:31Okay.
39:55Okay.
39:55Okay.
39:55Okay.
39:58Now.
39:59It is essential.
40:00That this person.
40:01That this person.
40:01Whether he uses it in the Pacal position.
40:03Like the grip.
40:05Moves against this person.
40:06Who is in the left hand position.
40:07So that your.
40:08Right hand.
40:09Learns to go against his left.
40:11Hand position.
40:12And this grip.
40:13Okay.
40:14Sparring.
40:15Okay.
40:15Other movement.
40:16Back and forth.
40:18Very important that you have this.
40:19Okay.
40:20Back.
40:20Back.
40:23Okay.
40:23Time.
40:24The next scenario.
40:25Is that he will be in the Pacal position.
40:27When you spar this.
40:28And you move.
40:30One back.
40:30Like I said again.
40:32Vinterberg.
40:32Your honor.
40:37And you reverse it.
40:39Okay.
40:39He will go on the right hand.
40:41And he will go on the left hand.
40:42In this position.
40:43Okay.
40:43So that you cover all lines.
40:45Okay.
40:53Time.
40:54This is so you get the read.
40:56Okay.
40:56Now this position here.
40:58He reverses again.
40:58He's going to that position.
41:00Again.
41:01One.
41:08Okay.
41:08Time.
41:09The next way.
41:10They should spar.
41:11Is this person only has one.
41:13And this person has two.
41:14Both of them pointed out.
41:15And this is one.
41:15In the heaven.
41:16Okay.
41:17And you spar.
41:17Now notice.
41:18This is your one versus this two.
41:20Okay.
41:24Okay.
41:25Time.
41:26The next position.
41:27Now this will be in the earth position.
41:28And this will be in the heaven position.
41:30And you should borrow a person like this.
41:32He has only right hand.
41:33Okay.
41:34Good.
41:35Move.
41:37Back here.
41:38Okay.
41:39Time.
41:40The next position.
41:41This will be in the earth position.
41:42And this will be in the heaven position.
41:44And this will be in the heaven position.
41:45so he'll learn how to feel the different lines
41:48if he's got a good little arm bar
41:50and more arm bar
41:53okay, time
41:54and the next position again
41:55he will learn to put it like this
41:57in that position
41:59this is the other position
42:00both people get used for all the different lines
42:07okay, time
42:08now, he will have to still learn this
42:11if he's in the right hand
42:14and he's using this riff
42:16you'll repeat the same scenarios
42:17one is like this
42:18both head in position
42:19and he's moving back
42:22he's looking for play
42:23just get the basic idea
42:25okay, time
42:26then you put this in for call position
42:29this is the other position
42:30you're still in that position here
42:32okay, good
42:35okay, time
42:36then he reverses into the next position
42:39okay
42:39one is up, one is down
42:46okay
42:47then he goes into the other position
42:49he's going to start off like this
42:50and he's going to spark
42:52okay, time
42:57then you're going to repeat the same scenario
43:00that you have to put in your left hand
43:03and he will again go through the same position
43:05okay, double
43:07and then go around like this
43:09okay
43:11okay, time
43:12and then he will put this in the third position
43:16head position
43:17he's in the left hand position
43:18so you can go see
43:19now, notice we're not even halfway through all the different scenarios
43:23okay, back
43:25okay, time
43:26then he'll reverse the position again
43:28and then he'll spark this way
43:29this is the center
43:30the sparring is the center
43:32because it gives you the timing
43:34right here
43:40okay, time
43:41okay, then both third positions like this
43:43alright
43:44versus his position
43:51okay, time
43:52okay, then the other
43:53thirty second answers are good
43:55he does the same thing
43:57he will be left handed in this position
43:59he's going to be up
44:00okay
44:00and he's going to spark
44:04okay
44:05okay, time
44:06you're going to go to the next position
44:07okay
44:08he's going to go up
44:09notice he has one
44:11okay
44:14time
44:15go to the next position
44:16one up, one down
44:17okay
44:25okay
44:25okay
44:25time
44:26and both third position
44:27you're back like this
44:29like this
44:34okay, time
44:35okay
44:36now
44:36then he would do the same thing
44:38but we're not going to do it
44:40he would take the double
44:42and he will take the single
44:43and remember
44:44he can put it in this hand
44:46he can put it in this hand
44:47he can put it in this hand
44:47he can put it in this hand
44:48he can put it in earth grip
44:49and he can put it in earth grip
44:51and the same token
44:52when he's double
44:53he can use it like this
44:55he can use it like this
44:56he can use it like this
44:58he can use it like this
44:59and he can use it like this
45:00both ways
45:00okay
45:01the next scenario
45:02is one of the toughest
45:03that means
45:04when you spar
45:05he will have one
45:06you will have nothing
45:08this is a hard thing
45:09you can use your feet
45:11and as you move
45:12you want to play
45:12okay
45:13keep the kick low
45:14like that
45:15okay
45:16you have to do this
45:17take time
45:18then I'll tell him
45:19to put it in the
45:20pakal position
45:21okay
45:22then I'll make his small
45:23this way
45:23like that
45:24see
45:28that's always best
45:29okay
45:30tight
45:30then I'm going to ask him
45:31to put it in the left hand
45:33in the earth
45:34earth position
45:35or the other position
45:36and he's going to come out
45:37and he's going to move
45:39and he's going to roll that
45:40kick small
45:42kick the hand
45:43tight
45:44then you can reverse it
45:45put him in this position
45:46here
45:46move it again
45:47start the move
45:48back to here
45:53okay
45:54time
45:54get to the next position
45:55here
45:56now this is just to give you the idea
45:58he has this
45:59and now he has
46:00in his right hand
46:02they have the position
46:02and they're going to be moving
46:04right now
46:04we're just going to assimilate this
46:07timing
46:08okay
46:08timing
46:09okay
46:10time
46:10okay
46:11now he puts it in the earth position
46:12in his right hand
46:13and he's going to play
46:14this way
46:15you get all the conceivable
46:17aim
46:17which you want
46:18okay
46:21this is at long range
46:23of risk time
46:24okay
46:24time
46:25ready
46:25he's going to put it in his left hand
46:27okay
46:28he's going to be in the heavy position
46:29and he's empty-handed
46:30this is essential
46:31that you get the timing
46:32if you have it
46:34always
46:34in reality always
46:35grab something
46:36a chair
46:37picture frame
46:39anything
46:40okay
46:41time
46:41now he's going to be in the early position
46:43like this
46:43you get his arm like that
46:45that's the most right
46:46you're going to take this
46:47very very careful
46:48okay
46:49alright
46:50time
46:51now
46:51in this position here
46:52one of the hardest things to do
46:54is when he has two
46:55and he has nothing
46:57and you still go through the four scenarios
46:58see
46:59obviously this is
47:00he is
47:01strategically
47:02in a better position
47:03and he's going to have more fun
47:05than this person
47:05but
47:06he will quicken his reflex
47:07because ninth training
47:08quickens the reflex
47:09okay
47:10so let's say they're moving
47:11okay
47:12so go for him
47:13back to this position
47:14see
47:14back
47:15he's going to strike
47:17okay
47:18time
47:18then he's going to move on
47:20double earth
47:21double earth is like that
47:22okay
47:22so back
47:25back
47:25back
47:28okay time
47:29you can have one up
47:30and one down
47:30i'm just going to throw all this in there
47:32very lightly
47:33okay
47:34okay
47:35move it
47:37just move it around
47:38okay
47:38time
47:39then you can move it up
47:40okay
47:41these were usually in our academy
47:42we keep it thirty second rounds
47:44and thirty seconds in round
47:45is enough to be pleasing
47:46okay
47:47then you start off again
47:48like this
47:49moving
47:50these are all the scenarios
47:51that you can play with
47:52okay
47:56okay
47:56time
47:57okay
47:58okay
47:58now we switch it over
47:59okay
47:59he has a double knife
48:01and we're just doing very
48:02very lightly
48:04okay
48:04it's more fun to be the double knife
48:05obviously
48:05let that move
48:07and bring it back
48:09that's it
48:09keep it cold
48:10keep it cold
48:12very good
48:13okay
48:14time
48:14double earth position
48:15okay
48:16like that
48:17right
48:19okay
48:19very good
48:22good
48:23okay
48:23time
48:24okay
48:24one is in heaven
48:25one is in earth
48:26position again
48:27you're going to back the position again
48:29that's it
48:36okay
48:36time
48:36reverse position again
48:38one is in heaven
48:38one is in earth
48:39and you're going to stall like this
48:41okay
48:42that's it
48:43let's give you more harm on this
48:44what you're not doing
48:47okay
48:48time
48:49okay
48:49okay
48:49time
48:49time
48:49okay
48:51these are the scenarios in which it's really
48:54uh
48:54it will really benefit your reflex
48:56and get an understanding of the route
48:58because if you practice techniques that are very different
49:01in other words
49:02if you practice a lot of schools that just practice it like that
49:05and they just practice it like that
49:07but you want to have movement
49:09you want to get used to the flow
49:10because if you're not used to the flow that's the way the real knife attack is very real
49:13and usually the knife man should come up on the top
49:17but his training is very realistic
49:19and you learn to move it
49:20at our academy we wear a forearm guard on this bar and we have a hand guard which we didn't
49:26bring
49:26with us today but
49:27so that you can actually make contact on the hand because that's very very important
49:31and you should if you want to have eye protect
49:34a lot of my students in the united states have eye protect
49:37so that you can just sort of lightly go to the eye
49:40and if you want to you can even have baseball shoe guards
49:44they're made out of plastic so they can take the punishment
49:47or we use the lamanko shoe guard armor which is very very good
49:51and i think this is very very important that you have a training equipment
49:55because without the training equipment you don't want
49:57again in knife fighting or knife self defense you want to have safety
50:01just as a hand gun safety is primary
50:05you want to make sure no one gets hurt so you can continue the training
50:08and this as i said before it's really good for boxers and really good for kickboxers
50:12because it will quicken the reflex and this is what you have to have
50:15before you learn any techniques the reflex should be enhanced first because it's very important
50:21because even if you know it like you said a hundred techniques from the knife
50:23and you cannot counter and you can't move you have to have mobility
50:27and then you have to learn training when you don't have mobility
50:30so all the training is very very necessary in knife fighting
50:34and it will quicken the reflex and that's what we want to do
50:38this concludes the take on knife survival and knife tactics
50:42remember this is not an offensive take on knife or is it a take on knife fighting
50:47what we're trying to stress here is knife survival
50:50and this is very very important
50:52we want to ever glorify knife fighting because i don't think that's where it's at
50:55but this is a survival if you have to go against a single edge
50:58if you have to go against a double edge
51:00and we're trying to hone in on really making our skill level at a higher level
51:06we're trying to really get the timing
51:08now these are the things that we're trying to do
51:10as i said before i don't want to ever glorify knife fighting
51:13because i don't think that's where it's at
51:14but we do want to know how to survive to the best of our ability
51:18against a knife situation
51:20thank you very much
