00:04We hear you love languages and accents
00:07Other than Russian what's your favorite
00:09Ooh I'm kind of always switching between languages
00:14Right now I really want to learn Spanish
00:16I'm from West Texas so I've always heard Spanish
00:20And living in LA there's Spanish everywhere
00:22So it doesn't feel very like exotic to me
00:26하지만 전국의 새해를 듣는 것 But I think it's sexy
00:30스페인시스는 아주 sexy
00:33네, mix
00:34스페인시스에 대한 문제들이 많아

01:22Moonlight I think with Barry Jenkins saying bringing the art house to the hood is what he said that was
01:28already just a beautiful juxtaposition and then having you know he said he wanted to redefine masculinity with that movie
01:34which I thought was so cool yeah call me by your name I think was like pretty revolutionary yeah yeah
01:40I was in high school at that time and I remember that being the first thing
01:44that felt like it was really a part of the cultural zeitgeist and also handled like it also handled queer
01:52stories in a really cool way where it was so under the surface and it made it so human you
01:58know which I think also was kind of like a moonlight scenario where we're taking these people in such a
02:04specific time and place and like letting them explore love right what does smut mean to you
02:14I'm going to try to make an acronym sexy where this is going to be in relation to um into
02:20ember and ice um sexy magic um universe
02:38I have no idea what did I say sexy magic universe
02:43universe um titillating yeah yeah we'll do that titillating oh you very publicly shot your shot for Nightwing
02:53uh which was extremely fun to watch have you been a DC fan and what is it like to see
03:00fans instantly rally
03:01behind you especially the ones that say you have the face the talent and the butt I will be completely
03:06honest
03:06I when I saw like some fan art of you as Nightwing I was like blown away whoa like I
03:14I mean you never
03:16know if that's going to come to fruition or not but yeah I see like someone did you in the
03:21comic book
03:21style I was like I see it right away wow yeah I would I would love to play him I
03:26love DC I love um I loved
03:30all like comic books that were true to the source material um and I think you know there are a
03:40lot
03:40of good filmmakers who like bring their own style to these you know beloved um um comics that I think
03:47it would be really great to work with them you know I'm not fully set on Nightwing you know I'm
03:52open
03:52to other things um did you always want to be in like did is superheroes no always something that's been
03:59like I absolutely not it's just it's when really good filmmaker it's it's filmmaker driven so when
04:06like a guy like James Gunn um or Matt Reeves you know comes to comics it I think that's what
04:12draws me
04:13um and and I heard James Gunn is doing the the Teen Titans I know there's yeah but yeah James
04:21Gunn
04:21he's in love with you true or false Hudson is more like Ilya in real life and Connor is more
04:27like
04:27Shane I think me and you are both like Rose and I'm like Svetlana I just said me and you
04:34are both
04:35like Rose but I'm just I'm just parting ways that's so Svetlana for you to say um I don't know
04:42I mean
04:42maybe I do feel like Ilya I don't know I think that um I I'm I'm too sensitive or outwardly
04:50sensitive
04:51or don't have a lot of shame around emotion to be Ilya I could be a little cocky like Ilya
04:56yeah but
04:57beyond that it's like I think Shane and Ilya sort of share us you know a soulfulness that's kind of
05:03buried under all these you know walls and kind of um uh masks but I think I think underneath that
05:11what
05:11we both relate with both of them is you know the the heart and and their soul after wrapping
05:17heated rivalry you two got matching tattoos that say sex sales and if true how did that happen
05:24um I did I have a reason for coming up to Vancouver I just want to come see yeah come
05:29hang out am I not
05:30good enough right come on yeah I just I don't know why for a second I was like I have
05:34something to do
05:34up there I have nothing to do in Vancouver I was there so yeah I just went up to see
05:40um I just came
05:42up to see you we knew we wanted to get matching tattoos I hadn't gotten a tattoo in forever
05:45um and we were just shuffling through ideas and yeah I think you came up with sex but like we
05:52were both pitching ideas and then like one person would like them the other person wouldn't and then
05:57when you said sex sales I was like oh we were sold that's the first idea you've had that's good
06:01I
06:01think it's honestly my most well done tattoo as well so that feels good the front of my shin pull
06:07in
06:08right here zoom in true or false you ate a pound of beef of ground beef a day while filming
06:15heated
06:15rivalry true Connor told me what his routine was and after I saw him in person I asked him how
06:23he got
06:24to that size I thought he was taking illicit substances he wasn't he does it super clean
06:29sorry I mentioned illicit substances um but I have nothing to hide bring it on but he was so
06:37just like so I was like what are you eating freak I was like I'm eating
06:43and he just couldn't speak and he just kept doing that and I was like I think that means ground
06:49beef
06:50um you're like that level of capability is what I need and then Connor was actually the person who
06:55put me onto fiber because if you need to eat the protein you want to get you know ilia cheeks
07:01um
07:02and chests you need so much fiber just so your stomach doesn't shut down and you go into cardiac
07:08arrest and you get carried out from your your little workout on a stretcher with some you know
07:13pumped up pecs and a shut down fucking you look good digestive system it's really unfortunate if it
07:19ends that way yeah yeah I actually um I'm gonna one-up this true or false I actually think that
07:25we ate
07:25more than a pound of beef yeah because a pound of beef only has I think 84 grams of protein
07:30and you need
07:31a solid 200 if you're going through size and shape so sometimes I can eat two pounds of ground beef
07:37a day
07:37plus like 10 eggs yeah and so many salads I was having so much salad because by the end I
07:43got
07:43like gained 10 pounds so like when I started shooting I was like and by the end I was like
07:4810
07:48pounds heavier and it was because of yeah you yeah you I mean you're very inspiring I'm glad that we
07:53had each other because it would have been really hard to be motivated if you know we were going back
07:58to our 12-hour days and then the gym and then like going back to a residence like alone it's
08:02really
08:02it's nice that I got to be like hi son let's go to gym and we would go from a
08:09fucking 11-hour day
08:10skating lesson and Connor would go let's do legs and I looked him he's a madman that's how he has
08:16a
08:16butt he'll finish a skating lesson that takes four hours and then go legs now and I was like what
08:22are
08:22you saying I okay I knew I had a responsibility to the people he's America's ass and I I take
08:31that
08:31very seriously romance readers are famously passionate about book adaptations did you feel
08:37any pressure being bringing a beloved story to life and how did you approach making the characters
08:41your own it's good I think to go into a project accepting that you know people might be disappointed
08:49especially with something like a book where everyone already has preconceived notions they've
08:52visioned they've envisioned these characters they've drawn these characters they've gotten tattoos of these
08:57characters like the love is already there so much that ultimately someone is going to be disappointed
09:03all you can do is is read the material as much as you possibly can yeah and um and respect
09:12it show the
09:13respect show the dedication and just hope that people you know connect with it and love it and see
09:18that enthusiasm I think we both had that level of whether you want to call it nihilism or not
09:23like people might just hate this people might hate your casting and they might hate my casting I'm not
09:29gonna expect anything more and I'm just gonna do the best I can but you have really no metric of
09:35if people
09:37are gonna be warm to your your take I really think at the end of the day all you can
09:40do is be really
09:42intentional give it a hundred and fifty percent yeah just go for it you know
09:47yeah and luckily for us this worked out really freaking well
09:55Hudson we have heard rumors about a very serious multi-step Korean skincare routine can you break it
10:00down for us it's not that lengthy yeah I always made fun of you for it too because I like
10:05honestly
10:06I'm just kind of jealous because you have really good skin um but I was like yeah your skin routine
10:11and then it's actually not that long it's not that long it's okay I'm gonna tell you in the morning
10:16I use water to cleanse my face warm water and then I put on a glow toner but it's pretty
10:24dry it's not
10:25like I don't like when people have like dewy like if I see someone it looks like they just wore
10:28a face
10:29mask I'm like why are you out right now like go go wipe that off and then come talk to
10:33me because I
10:34won't right now and then so my toner and then I'll put on a serum and then sunscreen and then
10:42sometimes instead of a serum I put on a moisturizer and then my p.m. routine is an oil cleanser
10:48you know
10:48to get out these blackheads to get the the gunk out and then I'll either use like a CeraVe normal
10:55ass
10:55cleanser or I'll use like a Porsche shrinking cleanser it's their new that's their new slogan
11:01CeraVe normal ass cleanser I think that is I yeah I also and then like a poor shrink or a
11:09poor
11:09shrinking cleanser if that's my goal and then the same thing toner serum and then either a retinol
11:15or a salicylic acid and then I go to fucking sleep so I think everyone in the studio agrees that
11:22was a
11:22lot well I will also say I mean it makes sense you have flawless skin so and then when I
11:28take it off it
11:29just falls apart yeah he unhooks the clip back here in the back keeps it all up Connor yes story
11:38yes do you have a favorite spicy scene from heated rivalry and a favorite from ember and ice what
11:43makes those stand out for you my favorite spicy scene from ember and ice is actually a scene where
11:48Dane is with two former lovers Cassandra and Elijah yep I need you to I need you to be here
12:00with me okay
12:01um Dane has an interaction with uh two of his former lovers um after having been with Finn for some
12:09time
12:10and uh yeah not to spoil but he he ends up realizing that what what really works for him isn't
12:18working
12:18for him anymore and it's kind of this moment of identity loss and you know what what pleases me
12:25isn't pleasing me the same I think that's really cool because it's also it's because it's cool because
12:29it's like sexy and spicy but it also is really revealing of the character and the connection and
12:35where he's at you know um and I think it's funny I think I remember Dane saying something about um
12:40he's
12:41like he's like and then the next thing I did was I just had to come up with uh an
12:45excuse and then he's
12:46like he's like my friends I have bad news I have a lot from ember and ice but one is
12:53the lake scene
12:54where we kind of go in together and you kind of coax it out of me without spoiling too much
12:59I think that one's just you know a lot of times like the intimacy before intimacy I think it has
13:05more of a charge in a way that one really got me um frothing at the mouth and heated rivalry
13:12favorite intimate scene there's one that was really fun to film do you remember filming the
13:17stair step scene when we're like kissing against the glass and our lips never come apart me and you
13:23were like do people do this do people I know it's always a fun balance right of like when you're
13:29filming um separate from like the audio space when you're filming it's like how much of it is fun
13:37tv and then how much of it is like is like true sex because at the end of the day
13:42you know you do
13:42have in real life people do have those those like movie moments where you're like you know you're like
13:48yeah yeah and then everyone on set was like oh yeah no we I've done that and then Connor and
13:52I
13:52were like oh oh we usually fold our clothes place them down then go upstairs naked and go sex now
14:00sex now I'm robot plug me in true or false Hudson's roommates once kept a mooning tally of how many
14:09times he flashed them do you know how many times I know that you I've yeah remember this yep it's
14:16true
14:17it was one roommate um and I I mooned him 31 times what was his reaction when you mooned him
14:25was he like Hudson her poor name was Chelsea I I've talked with her and Chelsea has been like you
14:32can
14:32say my name and I was like so I've since talked about this since double consent uh double consent
14:37um and uh poor Chelsea would just go I think her main reaction was like oh Hudson and it made
14:47me so
14:48happy where where is Chelsea now and I I developed different techniques over the years um she's
14:56chilling she's got a cat that's like hanging off her walls um but I would go and I would do
15:00like a
15:01drive-by I had all these different techniques and then she would bring like other you know um romantic
15:06interests home and then they're like what's this tally up on the board and they're like oh that's
15:10how many times Hudson my roommate has mooned me and they were like would you just like kind of butt
15:16crack it or would you full so I had one where I would get pants low like I would de
15:22-pants and she
15:22would be unassuming like maybe on her phone on the couch and I would run by and jump in the
15:28air so I
15:28was like a like like a like a literal moon a literal moon but in fast motion sometimes I would
15:35just do
15:35the like oh drop something before we leave bend and I'm right there gotcha oh god
15:42yes no they they got very athletic but we need to clarify if you were gonna moon someone
15:48yeah a close friend Chelsea is still my close friend make it and make it known that this is okay
15:52yep she got a who do not moon people you don't know in places it's not okay Hudson as an
16:01Asian actor
16:01leading such a hugely popular queer romance what kind of stories or roles are you excited for
16:06more people to see you in going forward hmm yeah I I wanna I wanna represent my my wajins out
16:15there
16:15you know um I've been declared do you know about this I'm declared the I think princess or prince of
16:23wajia me I mean I I sign off on it okay I think you he's the final stamp off guy
16:30for this so uh yeah
16:32I'm the I'm the ambassador of wajia as a fully as a completely Caucasian yes but as as this um
16:41little
16:42wajian I am I hope to just do roles that aren't always charged with you know I'm happy to do
16:51roles that
16:51are you know race has something to to play in there but also I just want to be an actor
16:56and a lot
16:57of the times I just want to play parts where it's like I'm I'm just there and we don't need
17:02to go in
17:02my backstory or whatever it's just you know I'm playing with any other uh non person of color would
17:10play as well you know you're a person you want to be treated I'm a person love it baby on
17:16both heated rivalry
17:17and ember and ice you worked with an intimacy coordinator um why do you think that role matters
17:22on projects like this was there anything about the process that you think would surprise people
17:26wow I mean I think it's so um yeah that's a yeah that question is I mean it's so important
17:33I mean
17:35you you literally can't do things without that role um the thing that I think would shock people
17:42about the role of intimacy coordinating is it's not just about and this is what I learned from
17:48chayla originally and then also jamie doing this it's not just about the actual safety the boundaries
17:55monitoring what's going on what that looks like making sure everyone's okay there's also actually
18:01a conjunction of an artistic edge where you are like jamie with this you know was also the voice that
18:09was reminding us this is how long it's been since this happened you know you need to I need to
18:14hear
18:14that shiver or that I need to hear those um I need to hear that feeling through your wings I
18:21need to
18:21see that come about I need to feel that pleasure in this way so it's not always technical even though
18:27that's what I feel like is brought up a lot there is also an artistic sensibility to that job and
18:31that
18:32really promotes that conversation absolutely bring in the first ginger ale this is so fun
18:40we have Canada Dry we have Schweppes we have can you can someone give me a rundown of the brands
18:45nope you're gonna try it and we're gonna go I don't I've only named two from memory well how about
18:50this I'll hold it so we don't we don't give away anything yeah that's my Hudson that's my Hudson
19:03that's not Canada Dry this is some shitty American ginger ale this is like Schweppes or like
19:11um yeah that's my guess it you said it's not Canada Dry why is it not Canada Dry yeah Canada
19:16Dry's got
19:17more ginger in it and more bubble in it it's just subtle ginger yeah go ahead and should we deep
19:23blindfold
19:27go ahead we got you where is this imported from this this is this is no no ways it says
19:37from Frisco
19:38Texas nope I don't I don't this is it changed it changed bring in ginger ale number two that is
19:47so
19:48embarrassing thank you so much this one was that one was Canada Dry what is this one I'm good
19:58um nom nom nom nom you're my baby drink more okay this is cough syrup this is
20:09this is yellow snow what is this a pissy pineapple but that's the brand Hudson I have to guess the
20:18brand that bye yeah this is Schweppes okay this one is Schweppes that's also Canada Dry I am so happy
20:31that
20:31I'm not the one tasting these because if I was getting them wrong I'd feel like an idiot no I'm
20:36kidding I'm kidding stupid stupid no you're not I mean they they really set you up give me another
20:45one do you have more bring me bring in how many more bring in the last one bring it to
20:51me
20:53oh this one's a hard one thank you oh no
21:09that's um that's fever tree ginger um um beer Hudson what what what what there's a there's a
21:21secondary flavor
21:26do you want to smell test too you want to do like no it's just ginger no but do like
21:30an aromatics test
21:34go full song vibes do you smell that oh it's hard to it's hard to smell it's
21:41fucking ginger pear fucking it's ginger yeah I'm gonna be honest he would never be able
21:46to understand you can't taste that flavor at all what blood orange good job you can't taste that at
21:54all you put food coloring in you didn't put no blood orange in there I will say I kind of
21:58like this one
21:59though now it sounds nice I like all of them but I guess the brand did I not you killed
22:04it when did you
22:05first realize you clicked and what are some of your favorite memories from working together
22:10I would say our first face time outside of a chemistry read because at that point I was always
22:16Shane he was always Ilya but then when we first met over face time before we went to Toronto
22:23um we had so many like so much overlap of movies we liked actors we liked um art we liked
22:31and similar
22:31approaches to how we you know like to perform um that I immediately knew I think we clicked there
22:38and I think that's saying a lot because I think some of our our interests can be pretty niche the
22:43fact that there is overlap is yeah amazing yeah and favorite memories I would say all our laughs on set
22:51being in Miss Skoka um was really beautiful there was a lot of like lounging around um you know it
22:59was
22:59just great my favorite memories of working with you are also the laughs what's what's like an inside
23:04joke that we just died over the whole time um we had a storm the set that was also with
23:11oh yeah
23:11I would always be like storm the set but if we couldn't afford extras our idea was we would just
23:17like do like a cattle call we used to joke that like we um because we would have like airport
23:23scenes
23:24and stuff where there would be like you know for an airport you need like you need a bunch of
23:28people
23:28and we'd have like five people and I just imagined um I imagined Jacob being like being like costumes
23:35get up there and everyone's like taking off their mics and he's like storm the set opening the garage
23:41and just like opening it up to the public how does it feel to accidentally launch a workout movement
23:48uh I can't I honestly still cannot believe that that was someone's takeaway from this you know I
23:55like I think I look a little too shabby I'm I'm in the process of gaining weight you know now
24:00yeah I was when you look you look freaking fantastic well bring it back to much
24:13um yeah I people people like our bodies let's just be honest about it people you know I care
24:20about my health I care about my fitness as do you um honestly watching the show is making us work
24:27out
24:27even more yeah so what drew you to doing a fey romanicy story and what was it about the script
24:32that hooked
24:33you for me it was exploring sensuality with with your voice you know that's the only tool you have
24:40and it kind of scared me a little bit and you know that there it was a really fun way
24:46to explore yourself
24:47it was fun it was actually fun and you know it's very demanding and it's well written I think in
24:53the
24:53booth the term winged Hemingway came up you know fantastical Hemingway because there was like
25:02war there's like this romance that's forbidden and it seems doomed in a lot of ways and that was
25:12way heavier than I thought you know this would look like and it was really rewarding
25:17the story just moves really well too it was just written really well
25:23as someone who you know is not a big reader I think something like this would be really
25:28appealing to me um just the way it it cycles through the feelings it cycles through the years
25:34and point of view yeah yeah I just think it's really like almost physically well done why do you
25:39think mm romance resonates so strongly with women right now yeah we've we've both talked about this
25:48and kind of been intrigued by it um there's so many reasons there's so many reasons and then even just
25:53women you know there are straight women there are trans women there are um gay women like queer women
25:59it's it's um well that feels like a giant term to be like I know exactly why um you know
26:07there's like
26:08the element of you can live vicariously and you can feel safe um like with women this is just one
26:13opinion that I had never even considered or thought of um that I saw that I think you're alluding to
26:19which is
26:19if you are female um and you are you are taken out of the equation there's and you're you're there's
26:30a
26:30spectatorship to that there's like a there's a certain amount of separation that allows for safety
26:36you know like especially women um historically being put into a box in a certain way especially
26:41when it comes to sex and pleasure it feels like a nice separation to see sexuality and romance be lived
26:48out without um right female dynamic being yeah I heard I heard someone online say a woman say that
26:55like when you see like a hetero um couple you know you default to like relating with or forced to
27:03sort
27:03of relate with the woman character um and then that comes with a lot of restriction and too and like
27:07imagination a lot of writers you know are writing very conventionally um which means a lot of outdated
27:14tropes um old archetypes and I think you know with getting to watch two men it's like they can kind
27:20of relate with this person in one moment they're empathetic to this person they're not forced into
27:24a box of here this is your person to relate with at the end of the day though we're both
27:29men

28:02you know okay snack time me 100 percent yeah you have a little you have a tiny bit more reverence

28:19really like oh I become really aware of how do you do that kind of
28:25it's not that you left and now now I'm gonna leave
28:29Connor will do the like the like it's like so serious he kind of gets a little
28:33tape and then he goes and I can't do his laugh do I do that do I do

31:11yearner I'm a sucker for a good romance the yearning is is the thing I think that's that's
31:17probably the sexiest part for people honestly you want to know how we got these bodies you're
31:21enough your ass gets fat despite all the memes I have enjoyed people seeing that physical intimacy
31:28isn't just spice on top of the romance but a vehicle to explore relationship dynamics and character
31:33and also physical and emotional intimacy are different but connected things Jacob talks about
31:38this and that was one of the first things I think he brought to us um to try and explain
31:45his vision
31:46which was you know when you read the scripts when you read the pages it can sound very sex heavy
31:50but
31:51to know that the sex really is just the foundation of their relationship and how they connect um yeah I
31:58think that is I think that I think that's kind of you know for the first years of their life
32:03that's how
32:04they communicate that's where their relationship builds and you know that's not usually how sex is
32:08used in media yeah yeah me dear I need Hudson Williams to know that so many people imagine draw right
32:16and read about him getting pregnant including me is that crazy oh he knows and even comments on yeah
