00:00:03nearly 180 years since the first great gold rush the mining world has gone mad
00:00:18record-shattering gold prices holy smokes I'm scrambling looking for gold have lured
00:00:25thousands of new miners to the gold fields I need to find gold and I need to find it now
00:00:30in some of
00:00:31the most inhospitable places in North America watch yourself we gotta get off many gamble it all it's
00:00:42all built on credit cards in mining there's so many highs and so many lows you were making about
00:00:49every mistake you could make but most catch nothing more than gold fever you hope the next
00:00:58hole is going to give you the riches and the rewards I've asked myself a million times why
00:01:05am I getting into gold I don't know what we're gonna do fire now I'm out of here this is
00:01:17not
00:01:17good I can't believe this is happening they are what we all dream about as miners right now I'm the
00:01:25boss on this episode of mine rescue this cuts coming to an end I've got to find a new spot
00:01:34a Klondike
00:01:35miner with a 6,000 acre claim I'm so tied to the mine I can't get out there and do
00:01:42the exploration
00:01:43needs a sixth sense for gold there's a real good chance we're losing a lot of gold once you think
00:01:49you got gold figured out that's when it bites you in the hiney as pressure builds on the mine site
00:01:54no
00:01:56way the rescue hinges on a high-stakes treasure hunt you got a huge property might be a needle in
00:02:03a
00:02:03haystack did you dig that hole to take them from the edge of ruin if this continues my world's gonna
00:02:10fall apart for a chance at riches oh wow unbelievable
00:02:29well the mighty Yukon Fred right here at Dawson over a third of a mile wide
00:02:43cut off by the Yukon River to the west of the legendary gold town of Dawson City in a remote
00:02:53corner of the Yukon lies the front mine in 2024 the Yukon territory produced over 200 million dollars
00:03:06worth of gold with Dawson City's gold revenue rising by 34 percent Oregon here sounds like he never takes a
00:03:21day off he wants to make a good living for his family being able to make a good living mining
00:03:26you
00:03:27know is a possibility but it takes a lot to do it there's been a lot of people that have
00:03:30come out
00:03:31here to make a fortune but have lost their shirts yep exactly I think we need to go down that
00:03:42road looks a
00:03:43little sketchy pop in the side by side and go down there huh yeah I think so let's do that
00:04:01the front in mind sits in the valley bottom at the end of five miles of remote road
00:04:19that must be them right there
00:04:23how we doing good good how are you guys how's it going guys pretty good Juan today Juan Morgan
00:04:29Chrissy Chrissy Freddie nice to meet you Morgan nice to meet you Juan nice to meet you as well
00:04:34oh welcome well we're so excited to have you guys here the road's not that great we got to the
00:04:41top
00:04:41of the hill looked at the road I'm like yeah we better not yeah well it's a good choice because
00:04:45we
00:04:45had so much rain yesterday beautiful spot down here yeah it is yeah beautiful how many acres do you have
00:04:50I staked 288 claims it's about 6 000 acres we're about two kilometers down to the mouth of the creek
00:04:57and
00:04:58it goes into the Yukon River and then it's almost 20 kilometers upstream oh wow yeah what'd you do for
00:05:05gold last year so we were hoping for 200 last year we got 150 we didn't get as much as
00:05:12we wanted we got a
00:05:14lot of bills and we're trying to grow the business we're trying to buy new equipment he started with a
00:05:19gold
00:05:19pen walking through the bush yeah yeah there's so much to love about gold mining for me being outside
00:05:29exploring in the place I grew up I was born here and gold's just in the air at 25 I
00:05:36started a job with
00:05:37a with a prospector it turned him into a multi-millionaire maybe a hundred million dollars or more
00:05:45I couldn't believe how wealthy he'd become and it was just a motivation for me to try it for myself
00:05:5341 year old Morgan set up his full-time mining operation six years ago so now here I am with
00:06:01a
00:06:01gold mine gold's super hot right now the price is high I want to find millions of dollars of gold
00:06:09in the
00:06:09ground because it's gonna it's gonna help me grow my family I want to contribute to my country's wealth
00:06:17and I want to build a mining empire that's my dream that's why I want to be rich so I
00:06:22can continue that
00:06:23what do you do here you mine with them I don't mine with them I'm at home with three little
00:06:28kids that
00:06:29are growing like weeds and we also homeschool the kids and I just do a little bit of the bookkeeping
00:06:35for
00:06:35the business three full-time jobs really what you got going on yeah three full-time jobs so over the
00:06:40last six years how much have you produced out of here I've gotten uh 600 ounces it's all you in
00:06:46here
00:06:47I've got a couple employees but I've still got to show up every day direct everybody what to do
00:06:52to try to make a living at it full-time and what's your goal for this year it's 200 ounces
00:06:57again okay yeah
00:06:58how close are you to it now uh we're at 40 ounces so far we're averaging eight to ten hours
00:07:04on a sluice
00:07:04day but we spent a good chunk of the first part of the season fixing things maintaining but you know
00:07:11things are breaking down and uh I don't have expertise in fabricating welding and so that's a roadblock for
00:07:18me do you have any gold that you with uh yeah actually I brought some gold so that's uh an
00:07:25ounce
00:07:26of the gold we get yeah this gold hasn't traveled along does it want but that's still pretty jagged
00:07:31yeah closer to the source so how much do you have invested in this mine morgan i'll put over a
00:07:38million
00:07:38dollars into this i am investing the gold in this business to this point the gold's paying for the
00:07:45excavators and the trauma the payments to the employees the fuel do you have a ton of ground
00:07:51left in your cut where you're getting that gold right now this cut's coming to an end and i've got
00:07:55to find a new spot i'm so tied to the mine i can't get out there and do the exploration
00:08:00really we usually
00:08:02kind of stand back just watch what you do and how you do it yeah and then uh you know
00:08:08we'll go from
00:08:08there before we go the kids would really love to meet you guys well let's meet your children all right
00:08:13i'll go get them well how we doing nice to meet you i'm juan nice to meet you hey buddy
00:08:23how you
00:08:24doing like you're nice to meet you young lady nice to meet you pleasure pleasure sir well let's go run
00:08:33a test it was good meeting you guys nice to meet you morgan actually came down here and found this
00:08:38gold on his own but mining isn't just prospecting you got to be able to fix your equipment you got
00:08:43to
00:08:43be able to fabricate and weld and he has to know where he's going next morgan's got a lot of
00:08:48ground
00:08:48here so we got to go find where he's got more gold on his property
00:08:54nice looking plant yeah been sturdy and it runs
00:09:01doesn't get as much dirt through it as i want
00:09:08now when you bought it did it come with carpets i don't know if i've never run carpets in it
00:09:14so i'm not sure if that's a good thing or not
00:09:18and what kind of uh yardage you running out of it you think uh we're doing 20 25 yards an
00:09:23hour a lot
00:09:24less than we hoped but i i can't get it to 40. well let's watch it run
00:09:47first bucket one started a timer
00:09:58morgan feeds pay into a six by eight foot hopper which is then washed down into a 24 foot trommel
00:10:07small material travels down into the five foot long sluice where hydraulic riffles help the gold to settle
00:10:25so if i don't get to my target i can't blame anyone else if i fail it's just me
00:10:32every year i get the season started on high interest credit cards maxed out it might be a hundred
00:10:38thousand dollars of debt from a few different loans and lines of credit because the bank they
00:10:43won't touch a gold miner and i've just got to hope that it comes back out of the ground
00:10:48to pay those credit cards off otherwise it's over because 21 payment on a hundred thousand dollar
00:10:54credit card through the winter it's a lot of money hey morgan yeah do me a favor this go around
00:11:04overfeed it yeah i want to see what that water does coming out the back there yeah thank you
00:11:14i had him overfeed it to try to get what i think would be 40 yards an hour to see
00:11:19what the issues
00:11:19might be that's his biggest choke point and that's what's scaring him that's why he's slowing down on his
00:11:29feet see here the amount of material coming out oh yeah
00:11:36that's really slow morgan's overall production is half the speed it should be but any faster pay spills out
00:11:52you can tell that they're screening really big right now there's a sluice box that has nothing
00:11:59for fine gold recovery and that's an issue want to pan it fred
00:12:05if the pan shows fine gold morgan could be throwing thousands of dollars away
00:12:19how's that looking you know there's something in there for sure a little bitty guys it's not a ton but
00:12:25you know again it was a tiny bit of material every spec adds up you know looking at his jar
00:12:30of gold
00:12:30there he doesn't have a lot of fine gold in that jar but that doesn't mean there's quite a bit
00:12:35of
00:12:35gold fine gold on these flames either that's why we want to look at their gold before we watch their
00:12:39plant run
00:12:46last bucket
00:13:04well there we go we did see a few things that we can definitely improve on pull the box and
00:13:10get it
00:13:10all cleaned up and see what we got yeah see you in the morning have a good night guys thank
00:13:14you
00:13:14thanks for coming out yeah turn the water off this section then we can push the rest of the material
00:13:21this
00:13:23way okay you should be able to wash the rest through
00:13:28if you're losing a big percentage of that fine gold you need help honestly he needs help with his cut
00:13:35and honestly he needs help with the plant
00:13:38i think i see gold you can see it over here yeah
00:13:42i got a gold piece put it in the pan
00:13:46i've got good gold so far in this spot i'm in but when it comes to an end i can't
00:13:51guarantee there's
00:13:52going to be gold anywhere else on these claims that could be the end if i'm not making gold i'm
00:13:57not
00:13:57paying those bills we're just winging it everything's riding on this
00:14:18i think morgan's trying to make a good living for his family morgan's a great guy fred but i'm
00:14:23nervous about how he's running things he's let the prospecting go and now he's got a real problem
00:14:28because he's got nowhere to move to if he wants to succeed he can't do all this on his own
00:14:33the
00:14:46prospecting and the mining
00:14:47how's it going it's good freddie and juan meet morgan to see the results from the four-hour test run
00:14:55let's get all the gold cleaned up then we did last night well let's weigh it up huh yeah
00:15:01morgan needs two and a half ounces from this run to hit his 200 ounce target
00:15:11chunky stuff there fred it is
00:15:13a little more in there
00:15:21let's see what we got 2.35 2.35 yeah it's not bad not terrible no but with roughly a
00:15:29month to go
00:15:29before the season ends this would leave morgan over 50 ounces short honestly i'm a little nervous
00:15:36because i'm looking at it you know we got a lot of coarse gold but we're really missing a lot
00:15:41of fines
00:15:41yeah i haven't been able to catch it i've tried well and this gold's easy to catch you can catch
00:15:47this
00:15:47gold behind you know no piece of rebar in this loose box but that super fine gold that's a whole
00:15:53other
00:15:53story and that's what i've made my career on is recovering dust one of the important things is
00:15:59looking for more ground and you got a huge property so you know it might be a needle in a
00:16:04haystack
00:16:05i'm nervous about that we really need to find a new spot
00:16:08or there's no gold coming in and the bills don't get paid and that's uh stressful we're limited on
00:16:13time but we'll try to help you however we can well we'll go put our heads together and see what
00:16:18we
00:16:18come up with yeah okay we'll get back with you you know two ounces is great but the reality of
00:16:25it is
00:16:25it's all relative to your bills when you have excavators plant overhead with labor it doesn't go very far
00:16:41you know what i'm thinking on that plant fred you know and you're the one that brought it up
00:16:45you had them over feed that that shoot so we got that shoot coming in right here
00:16:49well right now it has that little mouth that goes inside the trommel need to extend it i think that's
00:16:55going to be the one of the number one fixes because i think we could get him around 40 yards
00:17:00an
00:17:00hour instead of the 25 just by doing that and what do you think about a side sluice i like
00:17:05it it's going
00:17:05to be able to be set up for fine gold and some coarse gold as well his riffles right now
00:17:10that he
00:17:10has under the plant yep so we need some under carpets underneath that everything we do we're
00:17:15gonna have to do it up here and then break take it down there with the side by side and
00:17:18weld it down
00:17:19there equally as important as this is looking at the ground he doesn't have a whole lot of idea
00:17:25where to go next he's got a lot of ground and we're only here a week i'd like to look
00:17:30at some of
00:17:30these higher benches i could see going in you know some rounded river gravels up high so the river was
00:17:47there at one time
00:17:48hey morgan how's it going morgan hey guys good to see you yeah yeah freddie during the test run he
00:17:55actually had you overfeed the plant because reality is you need to run more when i did that
00:18:00you know that feed shoot that comes off your hopper that goes into the trommel yeah it's not in far
00:18:05enough and that's why that material is hitting there and then back and back back out we're going
00:18:10to extend that shoot further into the trommel who should get you from 25 yards an hour to around 40
00:18:15yards an hour what we need to do is work on your gold recovery as well so we're going to
00:18:19put new
00:18:20carpets underneath your riffles but on top of that at the end of the shoot we're going to do a
00:18:24new
00:18:24shoot with a new sluice fine gold sluice that's going to tell you how much gold you have in your
00:18:29deposit
00:18:29so let's say it gives you an extra 10 ounces a year that's a big amount of money and then
00:18:33you've
00:18:33got a big deposit out there but at least we can get some eyes on it you know a lot
00:18:38of times the
00:18:38miner will get tunnel vision and you know they're just gotta run gotta run gotta run and you don't
00:18:43have time to prospect yourself no time you know we're looking at about eight thousand dollars in
00:18:47material you know that's because we're up here yeah yeah right at home it'd be three thousand and then
00:18:53we'd like two ounces a piece which pretty much just covers our expenses our fuel there's no profit
00:19:00made in it two ounces a piece four ounces yeah yeah that's a lot of gold and having that plant
00:19:08down
00:19:09for a little bit of time costs a lot as well um well here's what we were thinking yeah so
00:19:16we know
00:19:16you're in a bind right so while we're prospecting fabricating run the plant
00:19:25the end of the month is coming and there's a lot of payments that got to be made
00:19:29the gold morgan fines must cover all his costs including weekly wages for his two-man crew
00:19:37this is what feeds your family totally it's the only thing right now that i've got going on so
00:19:42it's important and um you know i i think i want to go with it
00:19:51i trust in you guys and i think you're going to change i think you're going to change my life
00:19:55here
00:19:56okay deal then yeah we're just a couple hundred miles south of the arctic circle
00:20:01you got about a hundred day mining season so one of the biggest things to help morgan out here is
00:20:08to
00:20:08increase his production by say 30 percent 35 that adds another 33 days in a hundred day season if
00:20:16we can get him up by a third right now on the first run he was running 20 to 25
00:20:20yards an hour we'd like
00:20:21to get him to 35 to 40 yards an hour i think he's got a good head on his shoulders
00:20:29he's done a ton of
00:20:30work already and uh give credit where credit is due but ultimately if you're going to be a prosperous
00:20:34miner especially with a small crew like this you have to wear many hats and he's going to have
00:20:39to learn that you have to constantly stay on top of it make sure that you're actually collecting goal
00:20:45prospecting as you're going and moving along because there's been a lot of miners that have
00:20:48a great first five six years like morgan has and then they lose their shirts
00:21:05you've got a lot of ground here sir i just want to make sure that i've got claims to mine
00:21:10into the
00:21:10future deep in the klondike region of the yukon the existing cut on the froughton mine is about to run
00:21:18out so freddie takes morgan on a needle in a haystack gold hunt for fresh ground you should have a
00:21:26nice
00:21:26family yeah uh thank you they're everything i started gold mining and my family all at the same time
00:21:35morgan's 288 claims lie within a 40-mile radius of gold rush legends tony beats and parker schnabel
00:21:47his 6 000 acre virgin property stretches from a creek deep on the valley bottom
00:21:53to bench deposits further up the valley
00:21:59i'm nervous about prospecting this i know there's going to be white channel there but is there enough
00:22:04to make a living there the klondike's white channel is gravel deposited by ancient rivers a high
00:22:12concentration of quartz gives the material a white color since the 1896 gold rush white channel pay has
00:22:22produced 80 billion dollars worth of gold
00:22:30did you dig that hole yeah when we cut the road down there
00:22:35the road working has exposed deeper layers of gravel
00:22:47i like the look of this yeah it's got that white channel look to it
00:22:54i'm going to bring in a friend if that's okay with you that knows a heck of a lot more
00:22:58about the white
00:22:58channel deposits than i do okay i'm a redneck geologist but jeff used to be the head geologist for
00:23:06yukon he knows this area better than anybody
00:23:15taking some quick measurements for uh his main plant at the mine site juan begins work on morgan's
00:23:21plant we're going to take that plant that was designed for 20 25 yards an hour we're going to
00:23:25actually make it a plant that's going to be able to handle 40 yards an hour and do it efficiently
00:23:29but
00:23:30more of that material that he runs he'll be able to catch more fine gold
00:23:38on morgan's plant the feed system clogs which causes material to overflow and spill out
00:23:46one will bend a half inch thick steel extension chute for the feeder to allow increased amounts of
00:23:53material to enter the trommel drum then to trap every speck of fine gold looped mats will be added
00:24:03to the riffles and as an extra security measure one will use whatever materials he has to make a 14
00:24:11foot sluice to try and catch the fine gold being lost
00:24:20hoping to be able to get it all designed out of one sheet of steel so we don't have a
00:24:23ton of waste
00:24:24juan gets going on the build cutting out steel pieces ready for the wash plant sluice
00:24:31and one of the things that we got to be careful with is you know we travel with as much
00:24:34material as
00:24:35we can handle but honestly you know it's not a tremendous amount so we got to use every piece
00:24:40sparingly we've also got the extension chute and distribution box to build so there's a lot to do
00:24:59how's it going jeff good to see you good to see you see you hey morgan i'm jeff nice to
00:25:04see you
00:25:06out on the claim local geologist jeff bond arrives to help freddie decode the land here we go
00:25:17so freddie kind of got me oriented here you've got a tremendous amount of bench claims on here
00:25:24you've got some really nice grades generally like this yellow line on the map if we can find a piece
00:25:30of that pastry up on the bench you've got a potentially big deposit because that that runs
00:25:34a long ways up the valley so that's reworked white channel left up on the bench ideally yeah white
00:25:41channels it's your oldest gravel in in the valley any gold that's in your creek has been reworked
00:25:48out of that white channel over hundreds of thousands of years rivers cut through the ancient white channel
00:25:57pay streak re-concentrating gold and making even richer bench deposits on the side of the valley
00:26:05you've already got a pit up there so that's great okay to to start there and go deeper but until
00:26:10we
00:26:10test it we won't really know first step freddie takes jeff back to the gravel pit that showed signs
00:26:23of possible white channel pain white channel it's a very very thick sequence you have to dig deep to
00:26:31get to the bedrock contact to get to that pastry at the bottom here we go jeff first bucket see
00:26:41what's
00:26:42down there the klondike is a unique area it's an ancient landscape it's been very very geologically
00:26:52stable that means the landscape has not changed it's just been exposed to weathering by water gravity and
00:26:59wind over a long period of time then you get this really really high grade gold deposits in the creek
00:27:14so next one give us some of that thank you we're going to take a sample from the 25 foot
00:27:21level
00:27:21and see if there's any color in it
00:27:45well let's have a look at it huh jeff yeah let's get her done see what he's got here
00:28:16so this is going to be the start of it at the fixed site
00:28:19juan is kicking off his first fabrication what i'm going to do first every two inches
00:28:28just like that we're going to come and we're going to do a relief cut and what that relief
00:28:34cut's going to do as i cut it we're going to cut it a little over half of the way
00:28:38through this plate
00:28:39it's going to give us a place where we can actually bend that plate
00:28:45once we get it to the radius we need we'll weld it and then that way it holds that shape
00:28:49that form
00:28:51this extension although it seems small really it's going to be a big fix
00:28:55on morgan's plant material isn't falling far enough forward into the trommel causing it to back
00:29:03up and fall out by making multiple relief cuts across a half inch thick steel plate one will be able
00:29:11to bend an extension chute that should bridge the gap into morgan's feeder that's going to allow us to
00:29:19be able to follow the contour of the shoe extend it and that way it's like an additional piece with
00:29:24uh
00:29:25with the same radius
00:29:40now we got it all welded back together freddy's going to get it installed more material means more
00:29:45gold at the end of the day that means more profit see where he's at now back out at the
00:29:54road building
00:29:54pit morgan has now dug down 30 feet kind of wondering if we're uh getting closer to bedrock
00:30:02here just based on the rock size is getting quite large but then we're not seeing gold yet so sometimes
00:30:07the gold in the white channel gravel is really tight to the bedrock surface so we may not see it
00:30:12until
00:30:12we're within two three feet of the bedrock hey morgan try to get us some just off the bottom
00:30:27after another hour of digging freddy and jeff pan material from 35 feet deep
00:30:45this looks like it could be bedrock or close to it
00:31:12the bedrock gold could be too deep for morgan to reach
00:31:26so how'd it go you know you may be getting closer oh yeah but the gold's not showing up
00:31:32we should move down slope where we know we can hit bedrock yeah i say we go down there
00:31:38okay i'll get the excavator
00:31:44the material we test panned it isn't worth running through the plant there could be a rich layer on
00:31:48the bottom but it's going to cost a lot to get there morgan doesn't have the resources to strip
00:31:53that much overburden off the top of it i've prospected a lot but i've never prospected in a
00:31:59bench like this we're looking for my future here so we've got to find something we aren't miracle workers
00:32:05but we're going to do the best we can for this family
00:32:32i love you dad i love you
00:32:37breakfast in a remote corner of the yukon morgan gets set to continue his hunt for new gold rich
00:32:43ground on the family's 6 000 acre property what are you guys up to at the mine today keep prospecting
00:32:51right we're coming up to the end of the cut so gold's gonna run out and we have to totally
00:32:58go somewhere else with the mine just being so busy i haven't had the time to get out and
00:33:03explore and figure out where we're gonna go when when we're out of ground what happens if you don't
00:33:08find somewhere to go or it just doesn't work out things will be hard we're constantly dependent on
00:33:16the fact that there's going to be gold in the ground but if we don't know if the next place
00:33:19will have the
00:33:20same amount of gold and to get there we have to invest so much money just to find out what's
00:33:24underneath all that dirt i gotta run see you we depend on him mining and that weighs heavily on him
00:33:38morgan works so hard and sometimes he gets up at six and he's gone before we even wake up he
00:33:45literally
00:33:46breaks his body he comes home injured sore and he gets up and he does it all over again the
00:33:51next day
00:34:10at the fixed site juan begins fabricating the sluice system for morgan's wash plan
00:34:19during the first test run he did quite well but honestly there was a lack of a fine gold in
00:34:24there
00:34:25some of that bigger gold is really easy to catch the majority of it you could catch it in a
00:34:29toilet
00:34:38so the box that we're building is 36 inches wide by 12 foot of sluicing area and it's going to
00:34:44have
00:34:44about a two foot distribution on the front of it that way that finer gold has a chance to be
00:34:49able to
00:34:49settle out morgan's fine gold has been washing through his sluice and out with his tailings
00:34:59as well as adding mats one's wide auxiliary sluice system is designed to slow the water down
00:35:08giving fine gold a second chance to settle
00:35:16it's kind of a tough one right now freddy's down there prospecting and it's such a big property
00:35:20he doesn't have a whole lot of time to help me and it's really quite a big build so we're
00:35:26going to be
00:35:26right up against the clock on this one
00:35:41it's got a lot of rocks that have no rhyme or reason yeah yeah doesn't look that great
00:35:48out on morgan's bench after the bedrock at their first site was too deep to reach freddy and jeff are
00:35:55working their way downhill on the hunt for white channel pay closer to the surface and more
00:36:02economical to mine what we're really trying to find from morgan here is pay gravels that aren't under
00:36:10so much waste gravel and so that's what i wanted to target right on the edge here where the bedrock
00:36:16is exposed where it's thinnest gravels and you can get to the point very quickly i'll go pan this one
00:36:26i'll
00:36:26bring you back the results
00:36:35well this is the second pan i only had two colors in the first pan jeff had none we'll see
00:36:46sometimes you'll find gold in a place you don't expect it to be
00:36:51and other times you'll expect it to be there and it won't be so you know once you think you
00:36:58got gold
00:36:58figured out that's when it bites you in the hiney freddy and jeff are testing white channel gravels
00:37:05that are so close to bedrock they should contain gold
00:37:11not a color
00:37:22i'll work five miles away one reaches a turning point in the fabrication of the sluice system so we
00:37:32got the box and the distribution put together now what we're going to do is we're going to start putting
00:37:35ribs on once we get the riffles and we get the carpets underneath that we want to make sure that
00:37:40box
00:37:40stays flat underneath one's final touch is the addition of four steel ribs which will stiffen the
00:37:51sluice box and stop it flexing under the load we can fabricate we can build all day long and we
00:38:04know
00:38:04what we're doing one of the big pressures that we feel here is actually on freddy sometimes there is
00:38:11better ground sometimes there isn't he's got to go out there and try to find that concentrated goal
00:38:22this is year six and actually like trying to full-time mining trying to make money
00:38:31it's not right yeah even high grading that rock i'll pan this and see if we can get those chunky
00:38:39bits
00:38:40looking better down there freddy that's it yeah this pan of gravel came from just a little further up
00:38:48from where freddy got his and so it looks like there's some nice big rocks right on the contact
00:38:57back man we got to get some gold in this
00:39:14let's see what this one's got this spot looked pretty good really see what this one is
00:39:19on the fraught in mind the clock is ticking as freddy and jeff search for signs of a white channel
00:39:26pay streak closer to the surface
00:39:36i got gold in this pan
00:39:41be nice to see three or four of those in the pan yeah i can see it from here
00:39:47yeah that's bigger than all the ones i've panned so far put together it might be just a volume game
00:39:54panning is not always the best way to go when it comes to prospecting what do you think fred would
00:40:00i agree 100 especially after seeing that piece there let's increase the volume and take a bulk sample
00:40:09morgan you've got a lot of property here you need a test plan
00:40:12yeah i have an old one but it's not working well should we go down and get some pails yeah
00:40:18sure
00:40:18well let's do that for now and we'll get one to look at that test trommel see if we can't
00:40:22fix it up
00:40:23okay
00:40:25one's gonna have to repair that small plant so morgan can do bulk tests with it in the future while
00:40:30he's
00:40:30running doing a bulk sample gives you a broader sense of what's there because i've worked many
00:40:36deposits and this seems to be that way where you can take a pan there nothing pan there nothing pan
00:40:40they're nothing but run a yard of it and all of a sudden you see you know mineable amounts of
00:40:46gold in
00:40:46i like the look of it we just got to find some gold in it so a bedrock is i'd
00:40:57say right in here okay
00:40:58well it'll be interesting to see what this gives us slightly larger than three pans anyways
00:41:06without a working test trommel freddie and jeff collect a tenth of a yard bulk sample by hand
00:41:14in five gallon buckets it's taking you so long morgan these big sides see those yeah oh man but
00:41:21those rocks i'm trying to dig in between them if there's any gold where all the nuggies are hiding
00:41:28the interesting thing about plaster geology and looking for gold in the creeks is you've got to be
00:41:34prepared to pivot you've got ideas formulated in your head you think you know what you're doing and where
00:41:42you're going and where you're going to find it and it's not necessarily going to be there all the
00:41:46time so you've got to be ready to adjust to sort of a new reality when you start to get
00:41:52some evidence
00:41:52on the landscape in order to be successful
00:42:05well this is the first trommel i ever had out here it's a good test plant to properly bulk test
00:42:12his
00:42:136 000 acre property in the future pretty and one take a look at morgan's out of service test trommel
00:42:22so the first summer i put the road into the claims and drug it in this small trommel and
00:42:28washed dirt that whole summer and i was able to get 70 ounces that summer out of that small trommel
00:42:33so at that point i knew i had a good gold deposit and the next steps were just get more
00:42:39gold out of
00:42:39the ground help you get your start really i really wanted to convert it into a test plant but i'm
00:42:46just
00:42:46kind of stumped on how to fabricate and make the right uh sluice runs on the end for a quick
00:42:52clean
00:42:53out i think this has got great bones and this would be a great test plant to be able to
00:42:57take up to your
00:42:58different areas and test your cut before you actually get in there and move a ton of material
00:43:03we're going to be right up against the clock on this one but maybe we can do something here okay
00:43:08cool
00:43:09it does put a little more pressure on freddie and i it's really a two-in-one rescue we're going
00:43:13to
00:43:13be fixing both plants but genuinely i want to make sure that we're able to set up his small test
00:43:18plant so that way he has a future to be able to go out and do the prospecting that he
00:43:22needs as well
00:43:36now we're cooking with gas now we're mining freddie get some gold hopefully huh down at the settling ponds
00:43:46freddie and morgan joined jeff to manually clean the bulk sample they took from the exposed bedrock
00:43:53section of the bench instead of just doing four gold pans we're going to run these buckets we had four
00:43:59five gallon buckets of material if we don't see you know decent gold in this test oh i don't know
00:44:09what
00:44:09to do we're on and out of time feeling a bit nervous i guess this is going to be the
00:44:20first test
00:44:21that's going to show if there's gold up there in the bench or not long time coming 10 years
00:44:27if we find gold here then that's where i can go next this is it these four buckets will show
00:44:33us
00:44:35we'll know more when we pan it if freddie and jeff can't find anything out here then i don't
00:44:42think anybody can i've been using that gold in the ground as an atm it's my currency so that's bad
00:44:48news
00:44:48for me my family and the future that's everything we caught in that sluice box those four buckets
00:44:56down to this little bit of dirt bring her over morgan we'll pan her just dump it in this one
00:45:17moment of truth
00:45:34how's it looking freddie
00:45:40got some color yeah
00:45:46holy
00:45:53not bad at all yeah that's pretty good yeah that gives some pretty chunky bits in there that
00:45:59one's really good yeah it's not bad yeah for sure holy smokes man that's a tenth of a yard
00:46:08that's pretty incredible let's weigh it up tomorrow and see what we got yeah
00:46:14i've done a lot of four pail samples i rarely get anything close to this wow this is really good
00:46:20i'm happy yeah me too is it enough to jump in the water
00:46:27that was a pretty impressive little test right there and that's very mineable especially with
00:46:32what little over burdens on there you know that's where where morgan goes next that might be his future
00:46:42right there
00:46:45coming up
00:46:49something's not right one
00:46:52holy
00:46:54without doing this we won't be able to run period
00:46:57stinger
00:47:01two point three five is the number to beat
00:47:06oh wow
00:47:17at the fixed site it's all hands on deck but despite the pressure juan teaches morgan essential welding 101
00:47:28welding is one of those skills you have to have you're going to be mining yeah i agree i mean
00:47:33it's a big
00:47:33skill set that i'm missing when you're mining you're remote you have to be self-sufficient
00:47:39sometimes the mechanic won't be able to come out here for a week two weeks three weeks
00:47:42you got to be able to do it yourself
00:47:48did you see that puddle yeah you're basically just letting the rod do the work yeah okay you
00:47:55push in too far you turn the arc off so you got to have a little bit of a gap
00:47:59i see
00:48:01okay i'll give it a shot
00:48:05get a little closer
00:48:08rods getting hot don't hold the rod too much get a little closer burning faster than i thought okay stop
00:48:16it's okay okay go for it again strike it again
00:48:24there you go way better you're getting your rod closer now that looks really good that's perfect perfect speed
00:48:34with juan teaching me how to weld it gives me the confidence to tackle some of those lighter jobs
00:48:40and save a lot of money on hiring welders it's going to help me do things more efficiently
00:48:47less than over with just 24 hours before the final test run juan gets back to the fixes with freddie
00:49:04there's a few more fine pieces in there yukon geologist jeff bond weighs the gold he and freddie
00:49:11took from their test of morgan's white channel bench we took a tenth of a yard and we were predicting
00:49:19somewhere around a third of a gram and it dried overnight so i thought i'd give it away and see
00:49:27where we're actually at nice chunky piece there a little nugget
00:49:4051 milligrams that's a lot better than what we thought it was going to give us so that that's really
00:49:45good it's a 25 increase in gold per yard compared to the material morgan is currently sluicing that's
00:49:54phenomenal number for for four pails that's half a gram of gold if morgan is able to run this material
00:50:02at 40 yards per hour for a full 10 hour day it will potentially deliver six and a half ounces
00:50:11people will mine this kind of grade at depths of 30 feet and this is literally four or five feet
00:50:20below
00:50:20the surface yeah morgan should be really happy with that number i'm very happy yeah yeah yeah it's a
00:50:27great sample all packed up you bet guys thanks john a pleasure thanks for inviting me out freddie
00:50:37really appreciate it appreciate you coming morgan it's great to meet you you're doing a great job
00:50:41here thanks a lot jeff it was really good to have you out here yeah you're welcome yeah drive safe
00:50:46yeah
00:50:46i will and uh let's keep in touch yep do this again you got it it's so useful having jeff
00:50:52out
00:50:52here he was a great help see you later sir bye bye we found some ground for morgan but it's
00:50:59our job now
00:50:59to get the plant running more material per hour it's more money in his pocket
00:51:08you got it set at 1700 rpm despite an inefficient wash plant morgan must keep running what pay dirt he
00:51:15has
00:51:15left from his existing pile to cover his approximately 20 000 a week over him every day we're sluicing
00:51:25eight to ten hours that's the minimum we want to get on the sluice box
00:51:30you only have so much time each summer to get everything in that you can one missed day is
00:51:37significant so i'm glad that 30 and 1 are letting me run the plant while they get on with the
00:51:42build
00:51:45i've been working with morgan for three years now i'm from belgium originally
00:51:52so i was working in plumbing for about five years which was a good job but i wanted to change
00:51:58i wanted
00:51:59to be outside this job can be a little risky like the equipment breaks down it slows down the production
00:52:06it's a gamble i'm willing to take okay just wash those riffles off i've been working on this mine for
00:52:15two years before i met morgan i swore i would never work on a mine and then i was like
00:52:20yeah okay let's
00:52:21give it a go might as well slide that one over this way morgan's great to work for it's the
00:52:26best boss
00:52:26i've ever had he really takes care of the employees he's out here for like 14 hours a day
00:52:33if we do a really good season i'm gonna get god for my bonus if he really doesn't do well
00:52:37then i'm
00:52:38not gonna get paid because he just doesn't have the money i'd have to find other work
00:52:51you know we probably have two days worth of work on this little trommel there's quite a bit to do
00:52:57we're gonna be pressed for time on the other side of the cut juan begins work on morgan's inoperative
00:53:04test trommel while freddie finishes fixes for the main plan i'm taking some quick measurements for uh
00:53:12the drop chute we've got to build for this
00:53:17right now it's got a pan that's set up to be able to discharge on the front there but the
00:53:21problem is
00:53:22it's uh it's not real adequate so we're going to build a whole new pan underneath that way the material
00:53:26that comes out of this this test trommel can drop in there get concentrated into one spot and then
00:53:31drop into the sluice box on morgan's test trommel juan will design a custom-made drop pen that will
00:53:41concentrate all the material falling out of the trommel then replace the existing nugget catcher
00:53:49with an all-purpose 10 foot by 24 inch sluice box for both coarse and fine gold capture
00:53:59it's kind of unfortunate we're not able to get the truck and the cut trailer all the way down here
00:54:03on
00:54:03site so we're gonna have to take this up to the trailer this afternoon so we have it there so
00:54:08we
00:54:08can do all the repairs on it up top and then i have to put a welder in the back
00:54:12the side by side and
00:54:13bring it down so we can do all the install on the plant let me sneak in there don't use
00:54:22that when
00:54:23you use those flat like that they'll come apart on you at the wash plant freddy shut down sluicing for
00:54:3324 hours to begin the installation of the fixes so this is the catch shoot at the end of their
00:54:41existing
00:54:42sluices we're going to repurpose it but modify it we're going to cap that end off then we're going
00:54:47to build an extension chute to feed the new sluice off this end morgan moves one of his excavators to
00:54:58help install the new fixes i'm feeling really nervous about shutting my plant down and letting them make
00:55:05changes but i'm super happy that freddy and juan are here it's the opportunity to increase production
00:55:12on this trommel and find out all the ways that i can improve
00:55:22oh
00:55:44this weld is coming apart
00:55:48i can't fix this
00:55:55so you felt it wobbling huh yeah the top was rocking and the bottom wasn't moving so something's going on
00:56:02oh holy how far around does it go
00:56:09it stops here it looks like it's separating for more than half of the of the total circumference
00:56:15that's not good you've made yourself a hinge now wow because you want to air arc it in right
00:56:21you know what air arcing is i don't so it's carbon gouging so you're actually removing steel and putting a
00:56:28be in there okay yeah to do it proper proper proper you're looking three or four days wow
00:56:36we don't have the time to fix it while we're here we're doing all kinds of stuff and we can't
00:56:40stop
00:56:40doing that oh man the way that's broke do not take it up the hill again
00:56:48the modern mind everything's made out of steel but on top of that steel's always breaking wearing out
00:56:54luckily he's got a second excavator going so we got a backup
00:56:59that's my machine down it's a sinking feeling i'll make fifty thousand dollars in the next week but it
00:57:07not getting ahead it's a rough situation
00:57:28do you want someone to cut that up for you yeah yeah
00:57:33hopefully we're going to be slicing all day we only have one excavator running
00:57:37i need to fix the other excavator i'm waiting on uh the mechanic to come and fix it it's not
00:57:44fun
00:57:44it's like a twenty thousand dollar fix really yeah oh ouch that's a big price tag yeah but
00:57:52not doing it's more expensive
00:57:56a few years ago we were stressed about paying like four hundred dollar five hundred dollar gas bills
00:58:01and now we're sitting here and we're paying twenty thousand dollars in order to survive now our bills
00:58:08are so much bigger we don't have investors we don't have family that can bail us out and it really
00:58:15can be
00:58:16extremely stressful on us we are really all on our own okay guys i gotta get going sasha i gotta
00:58:24run
00:58:24say bye to daddy bye bye daddy bye guys
00:58:49right now the test rumble that he has isn't functional so he really has no way to be able to
00:58:53put it
00:58:53together just six hours remain until the second test freddy takes charge of the installation on the main plant
00:59:03while juan races to complete morgan's test trommel i'm getting everything designed for the sluice box
00:59:09right now because it really didn't have one before it had kind of a nugget trap that's not good enough
00:59:14we've got to be able to recover everything that's there whether it's chunky gold or fine gold
00:59:19this sluice should be able to do it
00:59:31got this box all done i got it all kind of lined up the way i want it there's still
00:59:37a drop pan to do
00:59:45one's final job for the test plant fabricating the drop pan
00:59:52we're going to have very little scrap on the end of the plate here for the most part we were
00:59:57able to
00:59:57nest everything in there a plasma cutter's arc can reach temperatures of up to 40 000 degrees fahrenheit
01:00:11the test trommel is going to be one of his most important pieces of equipment uh the reason for
01:00:16that is because that's going to be the plant that goes ahead of the main plant and finds the better
01:00:19material that way he can have a good test program so he knows where he's going and he knows the
01:00:24future
01:00:30juan's new creation will catch the gold bearing material from the trommel
01:00:35and diverted to the new sluice
01:00:49well the drop pan is all done once we install it that little test trommel will be ready to go
01:01:01ready yeah down at the wash plant the second test looming later in the day freddie races to complete
01:01:10the installation of the fixes well we're gonna put this extension on here morgan okay okay let's try to
01:01:24use my foot there on that side oh we're just putting that extension in the hopper chute well you want
01:01:36to
01:01:36get with your guys and throw those carpets in yeah we'll work on that thanks freddie i'll see you
01:01:41later i'll finish this up and head down here okay
01:01:49as freddie welds the extension chute onto the feeder morgan and his crew place fine
01:01:56gold catching mats under the riffles
01:02:07done
01:02:10the chute extension i put on here it welded like heck i think something's magnetic here
01:02:17something's magnetized but uh it'll hold
01:02:23we won't know till we run but hopefully that chute extension allows him to get up you know 35
01:02:2940 yards an hour instead of 20 25 yards an hour like he's running now and if that's the case
01:02:34it's
01:02:34going to be big for morgan and his family if you get a third more material that's a third more
01:02:38gold
01:02:49well there she is morgan wow she's a cutie after installing the two upgrades to the test trommel
01:02:57freddie and juan show morgan its transformation so we uh got it put back together for you we knew it
01:03:04was your baby so we wanted to do a nice job on it we built you a new catch pan
01:03:07new sluice before you
01:03:08had this kind of weird nugget trap that went into a v that really was nothing yeah it wasn't it
01:03:13wasn't
01:03:14anything yeah that's designed it goes hits in and goes right down the center of the box yeah we got
01:03:19all the carpets all the riffles everything cut boards wedges we didn't put them in because it makes
01:03:24the box heavier that's our most important real estate that's loose bucks yeah this is what got me my
01:03:30first gold and my start so it's really special that you fixed it up this thing's gonna last
01:03:36maybe for the rest of my life you never forget your first girlfriend huh and give you a true test
01:03:43of
01:03:43what you're doing right please keep us posted we want to know how it does and uh once you get
01:03:48on that
01:03:48bench and start running some material let us know but those guys here making those changes it's changed
01:04:01everything rotate it test trommel fix is complete and with hours before the second run freddie must
01:04:11move the 14 foot 600 pound sluice to the wash plant five miles down a steep rocky track coming into
01:04:21the
01:04:21mine we were a little suspicious of the road we had to leave our trucks up on the top of
01:04:24the hill
01:04:24they're 20 minutes away watch yourself fred we really don't have a lot of extra time so that 40
01:04:30minute round trip it doesn't leave a lot of room for error claire
01:04:38there you are well everything's in the truck now so we just got to get it down there safely on
01:04:42this road
01:04:43just go slow and easy huh yeah go slow and easy there we go
01:04:56did you get a hold of a welder or your hoe no i didn't get a response you still got
01:05:01the other
01:05:01hoe though yeah i got the other hoe to feed the plant and uh dig up some new pay
01:05:13all right freddie i think we're coming up to the steep part here make sure we can keep that sluice
01:05:19box
01:05:19safe just take it slow and easy yeah
01:05:30oh it's not a good noise clunk all right i'll let you over here
01:05:45there's the spot i was worried about yeah
01:05:52how's that you're good
01:05:56we made it made it i'll see you over there tearing it up yeah okay let's get it installed
01:06:11are we flushed fred yeah you're tight against the bottom one
01:06:17on the frottens klondike mine freddie and one complete the installation of the main wash plants
01:06:25distribution box and sluice we've still got a lot of stuff to get done and not a lot of time
01:06:33to get
01:06:33it done in we got to get everything set get the sluice box rigged up and then uh do a
01:06:39four-hour test run so
01:06:41it's going to be a long day
01:06:49we're going to bring the traco in and change the contour of the ground next to the plant so we
01:06:54can get
01:06:55that sluice box in place right now it'll be a bit too flat we'll need to take that down probably
01:07:10a foot
01:07:11on that lower end there
01:07:17that bottom end's the most important morgan that far end okay
01:07:28let me have a look at it let's try and eyeball it here the gradient of the sluice must be
01:07:36perfect
01:07:37to ensure water flows at the correct speed for fine gold to settle might take a little more off
01:07:43that end just the very very end just with the shovel that high point down there right in front of
01:07:49you
01:07:50then we'll need to there you go
01:07:55so the next step is uh get the sluice back up here pick it up with the traco and swing
01:08:00it into place
01:08:02you're good
01:08:10leave it long so we can spin it
01:08:17this past week i've learned a lot from freddie and law they've really come into my mind site
01:08:21and given me a leg up and i just can't believe that there's people out there
01:08:28doing things like this for people like me that's incredible
01:08:31good
01:08:37it's exact
01:08:40oh no way no way perfectly level
01:08:46can't believe that but got lucky i held the level up
01:08:52just guessing i figured i'll be within six inches pretty good
01:08:57well we'll get the chains out of here while we're doing this guys if you guys want to grab those
01:09:03grab those riffles and bring them over
01:09:12that's a little change in the sluice right okay and one piece of gold that doesn't like one situation may
01:09:19like that situation
01:09:34we'll grab our boards and we'll grab our boards and we'll grab a hammer and we'll lock it in
01:09:38right up against the ramp same on the other side
01:09:43yep put the wedges in so the wood's doing multiple things for us guys one it's protecting the sides of
01:09:49your sluice box number two what happens when wood gets wet expand so that pushes your ripples down tighter
01:09:55so go ahead and just uh
01:09:59get it snug and then sideways gets it right up against the side give or agree make sure they're tight
01:10:07first impressions we got a lot more sluice around here than we used to have so a lot more square
01:10:13footage of sluice and a lot of different types now so hopefully it's going to catch that fine gold
01:10:19that's coming off the end of the sluice box we've got everything installed ready got the extension on
01:10:24the chute for the hopper in that's 100 ready to go we were able to get the distribution box here
01:10:29with
01:10:29the downspout that's in and we got that new sluice box in as well so looks great
01:10:38now we're at the point we're going to do is test run you know with a combination of everything we
01:10:41did
01:10:42we should be able to get more material through the trommel and ultimately be able to catch more of that
01:10:46fine gold
01:10:52can't wait to get this wash line up and going again time to get started get some dirt in there
01:10:57let's go
01:10:58go
01:11:07so
01:11:11so
01:11:14so
01:11:36Something's going on over there.
01:11:37Yeah, he's got the hood open in the back.
01:11:42Something's not right, Juan.
01:11:43I'm going to go look at it.
01:11:46Shut down, huh?
01:11:48I'm not sure here what's going on.
01:11:52We're just starting our final test and getting the excavator ready and I just lose power
01:11:59and a light comes on and, you know, you just get that sinking feeling.
01:12:03None of my equipment's working.
01:12:05I don't know what we're going to do.
01:12:07The problem's got to be with that injector there.
01:12:10Is that oil or is that fuel coming out of it?
01:12:12That is fuel coming out.
01:12:16You got a lot of grit and stuff in there.
01:12:18To me, that tells me that the gasket's gone.
01:12:23Well, I think, you know, unfortunately, we don't really want to use that other excavator,
01:12:27but we may have to.
01:12:28Okay.
01:12:29You know, we're not going to be tracking it back and forth.
01:12:31It's going to be kind of in the stationary spot, so we have something to use.
01:12:38Honestly, we've got to down the machine.
01:12:39We have a massive fuel leak.
01:12:41And the fuel's coming out of the injector.
01:12:43Really, there's no way for us to fix it in the field.
01:12:46And as of now, we don't have anything to run a second test.
01:12:51One of them might be salvageable, but it's going to take Freddie and I, both of us, to get together
01:12:55and weld on it to get it fixed.
01:12:58There's two excavators down.
01:12:59I can't feed that trommel without an excavator.
01:13:03We can't shovel dirt in there with our hands, so it's a rough situation.
01:13:07If Freddie and I can't fix the excavator, I don't know what we're going to do.
01:13:12There's always something I want.
01:13:23You see it, Juan?
01:13:24Yeah.
01:13:25At the front and mine, two excavators are down, and the second test run rests on Freddie and Juan's emergency
01:13:33plan.
01:13:34Just put, like, 18 inches of weld front and back.
01:13:37I was going to do four here, here, and then the front the same way.
01:13:41Yeah.
01:13:42It's cracked just like this in the front, too.
01:13:47We're in a real bad situation right now.
01:13:49You know, to do it right, it would take us over a week to be able to do it.
01:13:51We don't have that kind of time.
01:13:52We have to do a test run today because tomorrow we're on our way.
01:13:56So what we're going to do is as much welding as we can and just patch it together to try
01:14:00to get it where it's stabilized and we can use it.
01:14:04It's the only option we have right now.
01:14:05Without doing this, we won't be able to run, period.
01:14:13You stinger, you piece of .
01:14:26It's broke bad.
01:14:27I mean, without putting a Band-Aid on it like we're doing, we couldn't do the test run.
01:14:31It's going to have to be done right.
01:14:33All these bolts will have to be pulled, air-arched out, gouged through, and then welded properly.
01:14:41Freddie and Juan double-teamed the turntable, welding opposite ends in a bid to get the second test run back
01:14:49on track.
01:14:59Well, Freddie and I got the excavator welded back together.
01:15:02Honestly, it's not exactly how we wanted it.
01:15:04Normally, it would take about a week to fix it in a shop, but we didn't have that luxury.
01:15:08We cobbled it back together.
01:15:10Hopefully, it's good enough to be able to get it through the test run, but we're going to find out.
01:15:14We did some good teamwork there, Fred.
01:15:16Let's do a test run, huh?
01:15:17Round two.
01:15:36If Freddie and Juan weren't here to make this a fix, then we'd just have two excavators down,
01:15:41and we'd be waiting on mechanics a couple weeks before anyone's going to make it here.
01:15:45If they can make it here at all.
01:15:57Well, that band-aid we put on the excavator, it's holding for now.
01:16:06Against all odds, Freddie and Juan begin the four-hour test.
01:16:11Start a timer.
01:16:15First bucket, Juan.
01:16:25Water looks good.
01:16:33But you're feeding it a bit faster than you were?
01:16:36It's faster.
01:16:37Yeah.
01:16:38Good.
01:16:44Perfect.
01:16:46Extension's working.
01:16:47Yeah.
01:16:54Now that's loose bucking installed feels absolutely great.
01:16:57We're running more material, and I know if we're losing gold out of that box, we're going to catch it
01:17:02here.
01:17:03I couldn't be happier with it.
01:17:05It looks like we might be running about 35, 40 yards an hour, but we really won't know until tomorrow.
01:17:11Good run.
01:17:12Ready?
01:17:14Ran good.
01:17:16That patch weld we put on the excavator, it's holding up well.
01:17:20I'm happy with that.
01:17:23Hope there's gold in it, huh?
01:17:25Well, there should be.
01:17:40Looks like shut her down.
01:17:42Okay.
01:17:52You guys want to get it cleaned up and we'll see you for a gold way?
01:17:56Yeah, we'll finish this.
01:17:57Perfect.
01:17:57All right, gentlemen, we'll see you in the morning.
01:17:59See you in the morning.
01:17:59Appreciate it.
01:18:01Thanks, guys.
01:18:02Do the nugget trap first, and then do the riffles.
01:18:17What a day.
01:18:19Ups and downs.
01:18:20Let's hope we got a good result here.
01:18:37Let's go see what we got, huh, Fred?
01:18:39Yeah.
01:18:40I'm curious.
01:18:41How we doing?
01:18:42Hello.
01:18:43Hello.
01:18:44Hi, little ones.
01:18:45Hi.
01:18:45How you guys doing?
01:18:46Good.
01:18:47Heard you guys had a busy week.
01:18:49Oh, yeah.
01:18:50Yeah.
01:18:50It was good, though.
01:18:51You got your gold?
01:18:52I got the gold.
01:18:54You know, sometimes it'll fool you.
01:18:56Mm-hmm.
01:18:56You think it's a lot, but it's not as much as you think.
01:18:59Here we go.
01:19:01Yep.
01:19:03In order to hit his 200-ounce seasoned gold and cover his overhead,
01:19:08Morgan needs more than six ounces per day,
01:19:11and this four-hour test needs to deliver at least 2.5 ounces.
01:19:17There's one ounce.
01:19:28There's two ounces, guys.
01:19:29There you go.
01:19:292.35 is the number to beat.
01:19:34Oh, wow.
01:19:34Look at there.
01:19:352.35, and look how much is left in the jar.
01:19:37Oh, my God.
01:19:38Oh, my God.
01:19:39More yards per hour.
01:19:41Recovery is better.
01:19:42Better recovery, yep.
01:19:45There's three.
01:19:46There we go.
01:19:48Oh, that's a big old chunky one.
01:19:49That's a nice nugget.
01:19:50Oh, wow.
01:19:51Good, hey?
01:19:52Yeah.
01:19:52We got more fines in there.
01:19:54Just unbelievable.
01:19:56There's three and a half.
01:20:02Call it out, Morgan.
01:20:04372.
01:20:063.72.
01:20:08Wow.
01:20:093.72, guys.
01:20:22Oh, wow.
01:20:24That's a big nugget.
01:20:25Yeah.
01:20:26That's a big nugget.
01:20:26That's great.
01:20:28That's a huge increase, guys.
01:20:30That goes a long way to pay for repairs.
01:20:32You know, you got two track hoes down there that need work.
01:20:34You know, it's going to help a lot.
01:20:36You've only got weeks left on this material, right?
01:20:39Then you're going to have to concentrate on that bench up there.
01:20:42You need to get some rubber-tired equipment.
01:20:44You know, whether it's a loader, a haul truck, that's going to be your next step.
01:20:47Yeah.
01:20:48Because, you know, as you start coming up, you know, uphill, you can't get your equipment up here.
01:20:52You can't put a wash plant up top.
01:20:54Keep on expanding.
01:20:55Keep on growing your empire.
01:20:56Yeah, well, thanks a lot.
01:20:58Like, just, we're getting more dirt through now, and obviously that means more gold.
01:21:02So, just unbelievable.
01:21:03Don't spend it all in one place.
01:21:06I couldn't be happier for Morgan.
01:21:08All this tells me is they have a future.
01:21:11He has the ground.
01:21:12He has the equipment now.
01:21:14All he needs to do is run.
01:21:16This is always the worst part of any rescue.
01:21:18Same bye.
01:21:19You know, I think these changes you guys make could be felt in this family for generations.
01:21:27My kids just have a couple of things they want to give you.
01:21:32Extivator.
01:21:32Oh, sweet.
01:21:33And a bulldozer.
01:21:35That's awesome.
01:21:35Did you draw that?
01:21:36Yeah.
01:21:37Well, that's sweet.
01:21:38Thanks for helping my daddy.
01:21:40You're very welcome.
01:21:47I got another excavator.
01:21:49I like it.
01:21:49Thank you, Sasha.
01:21:51Oh, look at that.
01:21:53You guys have just worked so hard for us, and we really appreciate it.
01:21:56You're welcome.
01:21:58It feels really good to help a family like this out, right?
01:22:01You got kids stacked up like cordwood.
01:22:04Little lady.
01:22:04Like a mother that just cares greatly for them.
01:22:08You can see it.
01:22:09You know, and you got Morgan that works 15 hours a day trying to put food on the table.
01:22:13So...
01:22:18So...
01:22:19Yep.
01:22:20Means a lot.
01:22:28Bye, guys!
01:22:30Bye!
01:22:31Bye!
01:22:32Stay inside!
01:22:32Yeah.
01:22:46Here's the sliice run that Juan and the guys built.
01:22:54It's got some nice bigger rocks in it, which is a great sign for gold.
01:23:00Looks good.
01:23:06Okay, here's the pines.
01:23:09Eight.
01:23:09Ten.
01:23:10Eleven.
01:23:12Twelve.
01:23:13Twelve.
01:23:14Twelve.
01:23:14Twelve.
01:23:15About the course here, it's pretty much 200 ounces.
01:23:22I want to thank Freddie and Juan so much.
01:23:25There's no words that can really describe it.
