00:06Wir alle leben in Manufaktur-Realität.
00:12Wir alle folgen einem Schrift.
00:19All of us, in a way, have a performative life.
00:22As a father, I am performative.
00:24And in your own wedding, you are performative, and on and on and on.
00:27And it's part of human nature, of the human experience.
00:30There's nothing wrong about it.
00:32All right.
00:32Three, two...
00:33You know something, maniacs?
00:35I'm all pumped up about main event karaoke tonight, brother.
00:38I was walking down the nation.
00:39Well, in case of Hulk Hogan, it would be interesting to look into the performer
00:43and into the real Hulk Hogan, if he still exists.
00:47You know something, Hulk Hogan, maniacs?
00:48I was all pumped up about Hogan's main event karaoke tonight, 8 p.m. at Hogan's Hangout,
00:52when I was strolling down the beach in my banana hammock earlier today.
00:55They were posing out in the parking lot.
00:56They were posing on the beach.
00:58Does he lift the illusion himself of being this character?
01:02But let me tell you something, brother.
01:03Hulkamani is still running wild.
01:04Now you know what it's all about, brother.
01:06So what you gonna do when all my locals start saying,
01:08and they tear the house down just for you, brother?
01:12You have to know, is there something authentic, something real,
01:15something truthful about it?
01:17That was murder in the workout.
01:18Okay.
01:19We'll see you guys down the road there.
01:20I'll call you this for the while.
01:21How much has he adopted the role of Hulk Hogan in his own private life?
01:26Do you know his real name?
01:27Hulk Hogan?
01:28Yeah.
01:28Oh, I don't even want to know his real name.
01:30Keep it your secret.
01:54That hit on that side hurt stuck.
01:57At this point, I agree you've done so much.
01:59Here you are just to get out there and go through this.
02:03You're a complete circle, brother.
02:04It's, uh, the job's not done yet, man.
02:07You gotta make sure this is an art form of the oven.
02:11It's in your blood.
02:12I didn't get a pair of boots and Santa for Christmas yet.
02:15Following WrestleMania 18, Vince was back in love with Hulk Hogan.
02:19And it was like, hey, we're gonna jump back in the Hulk Hogan train.
02:21And all of us were like, no, like this is, he got a nostalgia bump.
02:24This thing will be dead in three weeks.
02:28I actually should have quit back about 90.
02:32I could really ramp up the movie stuff and the TV stuff.
02:34But instead, I kept going back again.
02:37So.
02:37You see, oh yeah, you need nothing to do.
02:39You need nothing to do.
02:4320,000 people roaring.
02:47There's nothing like that.
02:48You're walking that tightrope.
02:49Beat up the Hulk Hogan maniacs.
02:51This business is so tough to leave.
02:53And, you know, they know I'm a step slower.
02:55You know, they know, you know, I'm, you know, I'm Bones time here.
02:58I love it.
02:58They respect that, you know, I'm the last of a breed, you know.
03:01And, uh, the respect they show me.
03:04If I die, I hope I die out there.
03:08Everybody always says, if you could do it over again, would you?
03:10I would change one thing.
03:12Start dropping the leg around since you can.
03:15Arms used to be really huge.
03:16So why don't you jump up and drop the leg?
03:18You can land on your tailbone every night for 40 plus years.
03:20When you can use the sleeper hold and not take any bumps.
03:22One thing about this business, no one leave unscathed.
03:25Every time I'll go get that leg drop, compounding on his back.
03:28Every time.
03:29Don't want to smile things over years and up.
03:32You know, I kind of like kept rolling, you know, but I wouldn't have been like this now.
03:35You know, I'd have been like a normal 17-year-old guy that I could walk around.
03:38Wouldn't be limping.
03:40The back surgeries, the knee replacements, the shoulder replacements, the hands and everything.
03:43So he's got three epidurals a year.
03:47He's got three a week.
03:49But of course, that's the price you pay.
03:51You know, it would be different.
03:52I'd be completely a different person.
03:53But would you give up the other stuff?
03:59When you look at Hulk Hogan, he went an extra lap.
04:04Hogan at this stage of his career is incredibly limited.
04:06He's old.
04:06He's beat up.
04:10Shawn Michaels was making fun of how old I was.
04:12And how beat up I was.
04:14You know, brother.
04:15I got news for you.
04:15I'll be 102 years old, brother, by the time I step into the ring at SummerSlam.
04:18And then for SummerSlam, he went out and oversold to make it a joke.
04:25It's on Shawn to make the match exciting.
04:30Even if you're a giant Hulk Hogan fan, you start to wonder what he's still doing there.
04:33A year later, I wrestled to New York.
04:35So I had no idea that was going to be the last match for the WWE.
04:48When you relied on your physical body and performance for a long time,
04:51then was that hard to not be able to lean on that again?
04:53Well, it's still hard.
04:55Yeah, it's still hard because you step back into the real world.
04:57Ooh, hi.
04:59Today's what a short night.
05:00What did Santa Claus bring to you, huh?
05:03What's up?
05:04You know, you have your highs and your lows and then you have family issues.
05:07And Zalina was on her own there for a long time.
05:09That was his life.
05:11He was out of the house more than he was home.
05:14I've been gone so much.
05:16My family, my marriage was already pretty much in shambles already at that point.
05:21And he would just sit there on the couch.
05:22He liked to watch a lot of movies.
05:23Just kind of quiet.
05:24He didn't like to make a lot of conversation at dinner.
05:26He really wasn't like Mr. Personality at home anymore.
05:29When you're a celebrity, you belong to the public.
05:30And I'm like, don't you have somewhere to be?
05:32We forgot cookies and milk.
05:34We forgot a couple.
05:35I'll go get it.
05:36Gotta get a segue.
05:40Woke up one day and I was an old man.
05:41Didn't even know what happened.
05:44I missed the family unit.
05:46The connection that me and Terry had.
05:48I'd say, all right, let's at least do something nice as a family with the kids.
05:51Just have fun.
05:52Again, let's just do something as a family.
05:55Look back at me, guys.
05:56Oh, God.
05:59And then one day, I got a call from VH1 about doing a reality show.
06:04And he called me Lenduche, which means Little Linda.
06:06And we were all in the family room.
06:07He's like, hey, I got a proposition for you guys.
06:09Do you guys want to do a reality TV show?
06:11And of course, the kids are like, yes, you know, because we saw, you know, the Osbournes
06:14and Jessica Simpson and Brooke was all, you know, about that.
06:16She's like, yeah, that would be cool.
06:18Oh, my God.
06:19I'm going to cry.
06:19Uh-oh, she's beginning to tear.
06:20That was a pretty exciting thing.
06:22Mom, I saw this stuff.
06:23You know, I think it was exciting for Terry.
06:24Yeah.
06:25He wanted to do that platform.
06:26I explained to Linda that my prayer was that it would bring, you know, Linda and I together
06:30on some form or another to have something in common where we could, you know, be excited
06:34about something and move forward.
06:37We're in business.
06:38Okay, all right.
06:39I'm down with that.
06:39Yeah, let's do it.
06:40I can't believe my dad said yes.
06:41I'm just praying to God.
06:42I'm like, please don't let me wake up.
06:43Please don't let it be a dream.
06:44Brooke always wanted to be a singer.
06:45She wanted to be the next Britney Spears.
06:47And he was like, they want to make it like a stage dad thing.
06:49Is that okay?
06:50That works for Nick.
06:51Hogan knows best to help Brooke with her singing career, to help Nick establish himself, you
06:56So one day he wouldn't have to be called Nick Hogan or Brooke Hogan.
06:58They could be the Bolleos and have their own career.
07:00You know, I think Linda.
07:01Let's see.
07:02We work my camera here.
07:03I always wanted to be in front of the camera instead of behind the camera.
07:05Cut.
07:08And I said, some of the things are going to happen.
07:10You'll be thrown into the celebrity world if the show does good.
07:12And life, as you know, it will cease to exist.
07:14It's a calm before the storm.
07:17Like he said, just make sure you guys fully are aware of what we're getting into.
07:20I said, hey, I'm down.
07:21Let's go.
07:33There was two months of having black all over our windows and people running through the house.
07:38A big crew, like 28 people in the crew.
07:39Eventually we took the kids out of school because it's just too much time.
07:48I realized, oh my God, I'm a celebrity.
07:50I'm always just eating out with my dad.
07:52It's weird for him to have gone through his whole life being the icon that he has become.
07:55Suddenly it's happening for my kids.
07:57People are asking me for my autograph.
07:59We thought it was a really cool thing for all of us to be a part of
08:01because this was kind of the first thing for us as a family to participate in.
08:04Terry loved it.
08:04We all love that show.
08:07The Hulkamaniacs, though, I'm not going to get my hair straightened out using a pink brush.
08:09Hulkamaniacs would be over.
08:11VH1 was very, very excited.
08:13They were just stoked.
08:14Then I was right through the roof.
08:15Your show went phenomenally last season, and now you're back for a second season.
08:18You know, it was a huge upside to helping Brooke's music career.
08:23She was so close to, like, really making it.
08:25We thought this will really, you know, tip the scales and really get her out there.
08:28It didn't really do anything for Nick except paint him in the corners of Dennis the Menace type kid.
08:33They filmed me doing these, like, 12-year-old antics when really I was, like, 16 and I was going
08:37to, you know,
08:38work on a car with my friends or produce music.
08:40You know, if the day was a little slow, hey, Nick, go fill some water balloons up and go across
08:43the street and fill in the people.
08:44The next thing you know, the cops grabbed Nick.
08:46What, dude?
08:46I mean, I busted my ass, you know, to get us so we can be comfortable around here.
08:49You guys are spending this money like it's water.
08:51I love you, girl.
08:51Thanks for doing everything good.
08:52That was really nice.
08:53It's tough as a parent to see your kids grow up.
08:55Seems like it was yesterday when they were just hanging out on the beach in the pool with us and
08:58drinking chocolate bottles.
08:59I was working so much the last 15 years.
09:01I've missed the whole anxiety.
09:03They showed this soft side of Hulk.
09:04He just has a good heart, and I love that about him.
09:07And he was good with the kids like that.
09:10Are you listening?
09:11No kissing.
09:11This is serious.
09:12The really great stuff was the fact that, oh my gosh, he's a father and a husband.
09:16He's got problems with a wife.
09:17What's up?
09:17He's just like us.
09:18I know what boys are thinking about.
09:19And I was one.
09:20And the boys' hormones are going crazy, and all they can think about is sex.
09:23The audience changed.
09:24It became a huge female demo that was attracted to Hulk Hogan because there was a father and a dad
09:28and a husband.
09:29Is that a miniskirt?
09:30Yeah.
09:30I think miniskirts are good to ride roller coasters.
09:32How old's that?
09:33Just turned 22.
09:3422?
09:35They kind of like made things a little lighter.
09:37They're like, hey, I'm going to take yourself a brother and he's a screaming maniac.
09:39The version that you saw of Terry was, in my opinion, Terry.
09:42It was what I lived with.
09:42It was a guy that was not in the red and yellow boots, not putting on a performance for the
09:45people.
09:46They realized that Hulk Hogan was Terry and I was a normal dad and a normal person.
09:49So there was a lot of good things that came with that.
09:51But also, you know, the mistakes and the disagreements and the drama of trying to live life, you know, showing
09:57through.
09:5822?
09:59Still with you.
10:00That's because I love you.
10:0222?
10:02I would marry you again if you asked me.
10:04Would you marry me again?
10:05Really?
10:06Would you sign a prenup?
10:07What would you put in your prenup?
10:08I don't know.
10:08There's no reason for a prenup.
10:09I know.
10:11If you divorce me, I'll kill you.
10:12Oh, wow.
10:13Being together 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the reality show Hogan knows best.
10:17It's kind of like a recipe for disaster.
10:19Everybody in this family's got that same attitude.
10:21I'm tired of it.
10:21No, I don't.
10:21So where was I?
10:22Right where you started.
10:23Nowhere.
10:24Having your personal problems with your family being aired for public consumption caused all kinds of turmoil.
10:30No, Emma, how many times have I told you I don't want the maid in my closet?
10:34Whatever.
10:35Why don't you just put the stuff back when you're done with it?
10:36I'm so sick of this.
10:39You put everyone as a family in a very intense situation.
10:42And then when real issues start to come up, you know, you don't really have time to address them the
10:47way that you naturally would.
10:48We could use the money.
10:49You could always use the money.
10:49No matter how much money I make, it still isn't enough.
10:52You know, I would, you know, come home with a check, a seven-digit check, and hand it to her.
10:57And she'd take a check and throw it back in my face.
10:58Was that all you got?
10:58It wasn't the old Linda, the happy one, you know?
11:01It was definitely a different person.
11:02Toward the last season, things were weird.
11:05He wasn't my soulmate.
11:06I want to thank the Master of the Universe for agreeing to let me come along.
11:09After she abruptly changed her mind and said she didn't want to be around me anymore, so thank you very
11:12much.
11:13I just remember not even being there because I was going through so much stress with my family, and it
11:16was just so insane.
11:18I think when, you know, you have fame and you go through struggles and hard times, it's almost like a
11:20higher rise than a harder fall, you know?
11:23Toward the end, it was like, uh, no more cameras.
11:25I need a break.
11:26It'd take me about two seconds to pack up my friggin' closet and be gone.
11:29Again?
11:29Yeah.
11:30Again?
11:30For good.
11:31When we went into the couples therapy, you know, that was all kind of, like, real.
11:34Some arguments have been so intense that Linda's verbally suggested maybe we should go our separate ways, or maybe you
11:37should get a lawyer, and maybe we should just be divorced.
11:39So the words were spoken?
11:40Yeah.
11:41Are you kids nervous about your parents getting a divorce, possibly?
11:43No.
11:44No, even if it did happen.
11:44It's not going to happen.
11:45They love hard, fight hard, and it just wouldn't, it's not going to happen.
11:47You know, I don't, I'm not worried about it.
11:49I don't think it's going to happen, but even if it did, I mean, we're so close, I think that
11:51we'd all stick together anyways.
11:52Are you 100% in your mind out of this marriage?
11:54Yeah.
11:55No, I'm not out of it at all.
11:56When do you think you'll be out the door, if this continues?
11:57I'll probably be dead when it's over.
12:00I always thought that, you know, it could be fixed for better or worse, you know, I needed to hang
12:04in there.
12:04I really don't understand at all how we got here, why we love so much, and still might fail.
12:09Out of touch, out of love, and out of place, losing you would be like living without ever seeing my
12:13children's face.
12:14I stand here before you.
12:16Yep.
12:18Are you ripped?
12:20Wasted?
12:21It is definitely a must.
12:22It's going to take forever to clean everything out of it.
12:25I do know that he loved me.
12:26I know that he loved me.
12:26I know.
12:27I know that he did, and he was crazy about me.
12:28Because being in love with you, only if for a second means I'll never live to regret it.
12:37He's hiding something, you know, he just wasn't acting like himself, and I knew something was up.
12:40My housekeeper came to me, and she said, uh, is this yours?
12:42And it was a little gold hoop.
12:43I was like, no.
12:44And I go, where was it?
12:45In my bathroom, where was it?
12:45She goes, in your bed.
12:47Well, Hulk Hogan's daughter might want to run her father over with a tank after he reportedly slept, get this,
12:51with one of her close friends.
12:52She was the person I was dating who was part of the record company, almost like a chaperone for Brooke.
12:56Brooke Hogan says her friend started having whoopee with the huckster in 2006, and I was still married to her
13:00mother.
13:05I was with him from the time I was 22 years old to the time I was 49 years old.
13:11And that's half of your life.
13:15I didn't know, you know, why he cheated on me.
13:19And I just felt like a complete failure.
13:20But we get to that point where you're not really sad anymore, you're just kind of more mad.
13:25You're in self-survival mode now.
13:28I came back from wrestling from Germany one time, and the house was completely cleaned out, you know, safely ripped
13:33out of the wall.
13:33Everything was gone except my clothes.
13:38It's hard to, you know, have all your skeletons, you know, pulled out of your closet and just waved in
13:42front of everybody's face and humiliated the world.
13:43And then our family just goes through all this stuff.
13:46Coming and going from the courthouse for their bitter divorce, the Hogan's rarely shy away from cameras.
13:51That's not the same person I married to, so we pray for every night.
13:54It was terrible.
13:55It was a very, very tough time.
13:56It was to the point where we literally didn't speak to each other anymore at all.
13:59And so everything had to go through lawyers.
14:01Listen to me, Mr. Balea.
14:02Mr. Balea.
14:03Mr. Balea.
14:03Are you going to wrestle with me here?
14:04Are you going to come across the cameras?
14:06You had your time to talk.
14:07You're done.
14:07You are the person that has caused this issue.
14:09It made it incredibly difficult for the kids.
14:11I tried to call the kids for a couple months and couldn't get them.
14:13Nobody would answer.
14:15I don't know if I really want to get into this stuff for this.
14:17I just, I don't know.
14:19Hogan's lawyers say the $40,000 a month Linda is currently getting in alimony is too much,
14:22and they want that amount reduced.
14:23They brought a slew of witnesses to the stand to try and prove Linda is blowing all her money
14:26on drugs, fancy clothes, and her much younger boyfriend.
14:30She was, you know, bouncing around, flying all over with her boyfriend.
14:34He actually went to school with Nick and Brooke.
14:37And we were talking.
14:37I asked him how old he was.
14:38He said he was 25.
14:38I was like, oh, okay, fine, great.
14:40He's young, but what the heck, you know?
14:41He's, let's go for a margarita.
14:43We had dated a couple, I don't know, for like a couple weeks, and then we went somewhere,
14:45and I was like, do you want beer or something like that?
14:46And he's like, I'm not really 21.
14:48And I'm not 25, I go.
14:50Now I really have fallen to this guy.
14:51I'm like, oh my God, well, how old are you?
14:52He goes, I'm 19.
14:53Are you not lying about that?
14:54Because if you're lying about that, we got problems, you know?
14:57The judge would let me live in my big house or my little house, so I had nowhere to go.
15:02I rented an apartment.
15:03It was like in the top of this building where I could see down the beach, where I could see
15:06my beach house.
15:07It was tough because I could hear my cigarette butt start up in the morning,
15:09and then his 18-year-old boyfriend would back it out.
15:11Well, I think that'd be so cute.
15:13It's a gorgeous day.
15:14And I thought, you know, he's not going to know how it feels until he sees it happen to me.
15:16He'd come by me and he'd stop around my apartment once he'd sit in my boat and snuck a joint.
15:19And I'd go, that's dairy, drive by, go in close, go in close.
15:22You know, I was making all over Charlie, and I'm like, I'm in circles.
15:24I was like, see, how do you feel about that?
15:26It hurts, right?
15:27Ouch.
15:28And I didn't mean to be such a catty, you know, rub it in, but I thought a little bit
15:32wouldn't hurt.
15:33It was like throwing my face big time.
15:35I would have trouble with a guy 30 years younger than me because I'm afraid he's going to yell at
15:37mommy during sex.
15:39And I'm not wrong.
15:40No, I'm just not.
15:41I'd have it.
15:43It's as bizarre as it is shocking.
15:45Hulk Hogan in the middle of a bitter divorce telling Rolling Stone he now understands O.J. Simpson.
15:49The magazine says Hogan is so bitter, he sounded homicidal, saying, quote,
15:52I could have turned everything into a crime scene like O.J., cutting everybody's throat.
15:55But Hogan says the quote is taken out of context.
15:58I spent three days with Rolling Stone, you know, and I thought the guy was my friend.
16:01He warmed up to me, we became buddies, you know, and all of a sudden, you know,
16:04we're sitting on my back porch and drinking beer on the beach and had a little buzz on you asking
16:08me about O.J. Simpson.
16:09It was a while, brother.
16:10You know, I've been that jealous and that mad at a girl that I completely understand how he flipped out.
16:15Of course, you know, there's that male instinct that you'd love to get him in the ring.
16:18I could have even went out and been like O.J. Simpson, but I chose not to.
16:20But I would never do that.
16:22I would never go there.
16:23I wish I'd never done the interview with Rolling Stones.
16:24His wife's attorney says Linda canceled her flight home to Clearwater and is now in hiding.
16:28And it's terrifying to my client.
16:29Did you hear what he said about how he understands what O.J. was feeling?
16:32You know, I'm happy because I'm 5,000 miles away from him.
16:34I went home, I started drinking and, you know, started eating pills.
16:40And I just went down this rabbit hole for a couple of days and next thing I know,
16:42I'm sitting in front of my bathroom with a gun in my mouth and not knowing what I was doing,
16:48you know.
16:50He was down and he was hurting.
16:53And I was probably not the only person he could talk to, but one of the ones he felt most
16:56comfortable talking to at that time.
16:58And I told my wife, I said, I think I'm going to go to Florida for a while and just
17:02hang out.
17:02So when he comes back, I said, I don't know.
17:09He was in the darkest, most devastating part of his life up to that point.
17:12Your wife's divorcing you and your doctor's giving you fistfuls of pills that would kill a horse.
17:16And you're chasing it down with a quarter of vodka a day.
17:18I hit rock bottom.
17:20I gave Linda 70% of everything because I just didn't want to ever talk to her again, be with
17:23her, never wanted to see her again.
17:24So I gave her everything to get her over.
17:27And after the divorce, I had no money.
17:31I was broke.
17:33And so TNA saved me.
17:36Hey, man, I can't hear you guys out there.
17:37There is no single name that defines an industry more than Hulk Hogan.
17:41The man, the brand.
17:42Are you Hulkamaniacs?
17:45TNA was a deal that I put together for him.
17:48Hulk was reluctant to go, but he needed a buddy.
17:53TNA formed after the death of WSW.
17:54It was maybe a gnat that was kind of annoying around the face of WWE.
17:57It wasn't competitive on a financial scale in any way, but it was another place for guys to go.
18:02What's up, TNA maniacs?
18:05When he first came in, I think he was an attraction, a figurehead.
18:08Immediately, people are going to want to tune in just to see what Hulk Hogan is going to do.
18:11This is TNA's Ricketing Day, brother.
18:13The idea was he's going to wrestle and he's going to be an active member of the roster.
18:17But it became very apparent very quickly he was in no shape to do it.
18:25My body just, it had enough.
18:28The emergency room here.
18:31About three in the morning, my back went into this major spasm.
18:35There were a couple hip replacements, a couple knee replacements.
18:38As the surgery started mounting up, I couldn't sleep in my bed.
18:42I had to sleep in a chair, you know.
18:44And if I just twitch my finger like that, my whole back would spasm and tore.
18:47The spine should look like this.
18:51And this is your back.
18:53So, look at that right now, you know.
18:55After back surgery number three, I can't walk.
18:58Surgery number four.
18:59I go back in surgery number five.
19:01I go back in surgery number six.
19:02Really getting over this crap.
19:04Time to come back and take over.
19:06Dr. E, he said everything was cool.
19:08TNA.
19:09It was hard to see.
19:10There were times when I felt really shitty about myself for making him do it.
19:14He wasn't doing the basic bits of pro wrestling.
19:16All he could do was bleed.
19:18But there's a, obviously, there's a physical limitation to everything.
19:21And he showed us those limits in the ring in TNA.
19:23Oh, my God.
19:24Dr. Zillian, you need a spinal cord stimulator.
19:26Okay, what is that?
19:28Instead, it's a battery you're going to put in your back.
19:29And you have a portable, like, a TV clicker in your hand.
19:31And every time that there's any pain, it shoots an electronical signal to your head.
19:34And it blocks the pain.
19:35Like, it gives you a total of electricity.
19:38His battery was in so much pain, I would literally have to go to his hotel and help him get
19:41out of bed
19:41to get into the shower to get ready to go to the shoot.
19:44I mean, he was a contractually obligated to do it.
19:45He wanted to do it.
19:46I was taking 80 milligram fentanyls, two in the morning stuff, and I'm under my gums here.
19:50I had two 300 milligram patches of fentanyl on my legs.
19:53And they gave me six 1,500 milligram fentanyl lollipops to eat.
19:57And I went to the pharmacy.
19:58He goes, you should be dead.
19:59We have never seen a human being take this much fentanyl.
20:02And he was in so much freaking pain.
20:05I mean, is it possible for any of us to have a crazy phalanx in their career?
20:08Doesn't seem like it, does it?
20:12We were in a room together alone about to film.
20:13And he says, hold on, I got to take this call.
20:14And I'm sitting five feet from him.
20:17Yep.
20:18Okay.
20:20Silence.
20:20Okay.
20:21Hangs up the phone.
20:22And he looks down at his phone and he looks up at me and he says, yeah, I just found
20:25out
20:25there's going to be a sex tape coming out.
20:27And I'm in it.
20:27Hulk Hogan has been described as the most recognized wrestling star worldwide.
20:30But the international superstar born Terry Malaya was recently seen by millions in a different light.
20:34After tape that he claims was secretly recorded, was shared by the popular online media company Gawker.
20:39And his legal counsel demanded reviews.
20:41If Gawker removes that video from his website, Gawker refused to do so.
20:46Yeah.
20:47Feel good?
20:48Feel comfy?
20:48Oh, it's like I can do one thing the other way.
20:50Wah!
20:50Wah!
20:51Wah!
20:51New Zealand!
20:52New Zealand!
20:53New Zealand!
20:54M-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m.
20:56Okay.
20:57All right.
20:57How are you?
20:58My name is Ken Turkill.
20:59I'm a trial attorney in Tampa, Florida, and I represented Hulk Hogan in the Gawker lawsuit.
21:03Gawker was a media company that had made its bones essentially violating people's privacy
21:07rights, following people.
21:08You know, they had a thing called Gawker Stalker where they would find celebrities out and
21:11take pictures of whatever and post them.
21:13But this was a surreptitious recording of Terry Hogan in a private act in a private bedroom
21:18at his best friend's house.
21:19Hogan is suing the website for posting a date with him with the wife of his then best friend.
21:23And Terry simply asked for Gawker to take it down.
21:24They refused to take the video down.
21:26Gawker's argument was that it was protected by the First Amendment as newsworthy.
21:29When they hit the go button, there was nowhere to hide them.
21:31You know, and now Terry Bollett, the man wasn't allowed my privacy.
21:34I mean, I closed doors.
21:36And, you know, that's pretty much it.
21:37And there were a bunch of people in the media who saw it as like, oh, you know, look at
21:40these First Amendment champions and how dare we interrupt the discourse and dialogue
21:43of America.
21:43We weren't doing that, man.
21:44This was shitty under any, any evaluation what they did here.
21:48Gawker's attorney suggested the tape was a publicity stunt, but the pro wrestler laments it
21:51was devastating to his personal and professional life.
21:53It was at a really hollow point in my life when I was in a previous marriage when things
21:57were not about completely.
21:59And I was with some friends.
22:00I made a wrong choice.
22:01And now all of a sudden it surfaces, you know, over six years later.
22:05He was horrified at the idea of a little kid Googling him and seeing that.
22:09Genuinely horrified at.
22:10I was completely humiliated.
22:11The kids can't separate the character from the real person.
22:14Let's start with the person.
22:15Well, the person is sitting here today under oaths, Terry Bollea.
22:17How is the character?
22:18I've body slammed elephants.
22:19You know, I've searched on tiger sharks.
22:21The only similarities to me are, if I wear a bandana on my head as Hulk Hogan, and sometimes
22:25I wear a bandana as Terry Bollea.
22:27I think for the first time in probably 30 years, the Gawker trial actually forced Hulk
22:30Hogan to think about the difference between Terry Bollea and Hulk Hogan.
22:34That the mailman sees me, they don't go, hey, Terry.
22:35They go, hey, Hulk, what's up, brother?
22:36Give him a little edge.
22:38Happy turkey leg, brother.
22:39It really makes me realize the only safe place is in the house.
22:43I don't know of anyone who had less privacy than Terry Bollea did.
22:46By being a big celebrity, if anything, in those places where you deserve your privacy,
22:49it's actually that much more sacred.
22:51That's the entire point of our case.
22:54An expert claiming Gawker made millions of dollars when it published the tape, so now
22:57a Pinellas County jury says Gawker should pay Hogan $140 million.
23:02He wanted to send a message back out that, like, look, this was wrong, and he wanted to
23:06get his integrity back from this.
23:07I think we made history today because I think we protected a lot of people from maybe going
23:10through what I went through, so we're very excited and very happy.
23:13So, during the Gawker trial, he wins a giant verdict.
23:16But then, the transcripts of the tape came out.
23:18And it's what we haven't heard on that tape, a racial slur that has caused the Hulkster the
23:21most disgrace.
23:22A very strong man learned today that his own words can hurt him.
23:25Bollea reportedly uses racial slurs.
23:28The person who got very mad about a personal situation, I used a word.
23:32Yeah, I regret it, because even under that heavy, crazy fire, I should have remained still.
23:37I kept my mouth shut.
23:38But like I said, it resonates and has an echo effect and keeps vibrating for years.
23:42He released a statement saying, quote, it was unacceptable for me to have used that
23:44offensive language.
23:45There is no excuse for it, and I apologize for having done it.
23:48Well, I've driven the car, I keep hitting the wall and crashing and burning, saying stupid
23:51stuff and messing up.
23:53Whenever I say I have regrets, it's because I didn't man up when I said it.
23:58I never should have said what I said.
23:59It was wrong.
24:00I'm embarrassed by it.
24:01But a lot of people need to realize that you inherit things from your environments.
24:06At that point, there was still a relationship, business-wise, between Hulk Hogan and WWE.
24:10So when all this stuff came out, I'm the guy that had a call and say, yeah, we can't move
24:14forward here, Terry, so, you know, we're done.
24:17The WWE is saying in a statement, we are committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from
24:21all backgrounds.
24:22Your image, your likeness, your name erased.
24:24Yeah, I thought it never existed.
24:25My whole career, my whole life, it was like it never happened.
24:28Hulk Hogan is one of the biggest legends in the history of this business.
24:30It's undeniable.
24:32But I didn't fire Hulk Hogan.
24:35I fired Derek Lange.
24:44He was at such a low point.
24:47But he never told us about it.
24:50Because he kind of separated himself away from us, too, you know?
24:55Everything in his life was falling apart.
25:00I had been through so many years of craziness and drama and negativity and stuff.
25:04For years, there was so much woe is me.
25:07Oh, woe is me.
25:07The world sucks.
25:08Life sucks.
25:09And then you die.
25:09And then, uh, right when you think you're done, the universe goes, here's something else
25:13to be grateful for that you didn't even expect.
25:16I was at a local restaurant.
25:18I looked up and the whole queue had formed in the corner for people who wanted their picture
25:21taken.
25:21I was sitting there with a girlfriend of mine.
25:23She said, you know, Hulk Hogan's over there.
25:24We should go over and get a picture.
25:25And I said, I'm not going to do that.
25:28I've lived in Clearwater for almost my whole life.
25:30So he's been around.
25:31I just never met him.
25:32So I just, you know, I knew he was a wrestler and I knew that Clearwater loved him.
25:35That's what I knew.
25:36He looked up and our eyes met and it was just like that zing.
25:40And he asked me on a date.
25:41I was just, I did my second divorce and it was a rough one.
25:45I would speak out loud in my house like, why is this happening?
25:47Why is this still happening?
25:48Why is this still happening?
25:49I actually fell asleep in my chair and I heard, I'm putting into a cleansing.
25:51I looked around.
25:52There's nobody in the house that actually heard those words.
25:55So where they came from or who said them, you got me, but I heard them.
25:57He said he saw you and every day another blonde.
25:58And then he saw me and he goes, oh no.
26:00He was just coming out of a divorce and healing from, I think it was his 10th back surgery
26:04at that time.
26:04You know, I was still a humbug.
26:06And it was a woe is me crap.
26:08She goes, are you just going to keep complaining?
26:11Uh, you're right.
26:12I'll shut up.
26:14Are you going to be grateful for the fact that we're here together?
26:16This is such a beautiful day.
26:18She invited me to go to church with her.
26:21I went to church with her and actually listened to what was being said.
26:25You know, that he gave his only begotten son that who would believe in him should not
26:28personally have everlasting life.
26:29And he got hooked, baptized, you know, born anew, forgiven for all my sins.
26:34You know, that was the beginning of me starting my comeback.
26:37You know, she's so dialed in with what's important that it rubs off on me.
26:40Attitude is everything and everything is attitude.
26:41I'm just thanking God just to be alive every day.
26:44Some of these people have been waiting 40, 45 years to meet me.
26:47They've like stuck with me through thick and thin.
26:49Whether I'm a good guy or a bad guy in the wrestling business or a good guy or a bad
26:52guy
26:52in real life, they've stuck with me.
26:54Oh my God.
26:57I've got all the kids that stayed out of school tonight.
26:59You know what, brother?
26:59Do it your turn.
27:04I mean, there's two realms that I have to exist in.
27:08There's a spiritual world and this human incarnation key point for me.
27:11Terry Bollea was not the greatest person all the time.
27:13And the character was impeccable.
27:14Even though I wasn't, I just loved the greatness of the character.
27:16I was ready to jump on the Hulk Hogan train once again.
27:19Wow.
27:20What a good crew this is.
27:24He's doing a lot better now.
27:25I'm just happy to be here.
27:26Hulk Hogan has been reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame.
27:29They invited me back to the WWE.
27:31I feel like I'm home again.
27:33I feel like I'm still the champ.
27:34Welcome in here, run a lot.
27:35And the Hulk Hogan brand is still alive.
27:38The immortal Hulk Hogan!
27:41Instead of, you know, going sit down and watching the sunset every night and each year being a doggy or
27:45make them seven years old, I decide I want to go back to work and have some fun.
27:47All right, I'm going to get out of here with you guys.
27:48All right, what's up?
27:54I love you, too.
27:58How are you doing today?
27:58What's your name?
27:59My name's Lucas.
27:59Lucas, I know I'm going to meet someone special.
28:01Terry Bollea, the man listens to his character, but the character helps people.
28:03In whatever way it helps him, it helps him.
28:05That's all I know.
28:07All right.
28:08All right.
28:10There you are.
28:12What's your rescue?
28:13I got remarried.
28:14My wife has an 18-year-old autistic son.
28:16I fell in love with him, and he can't do nothing but tell the truth, man.
28:18I love it.
28:19Would you like me to have a picture with you?
28:21I wish you would take a picture with me, because that'll be history made.
28:25So, you know, I want, you know, to be that Hulk Hogan form that they expected to meet, whether it's
28:30when I was 30 or 90.
28:31Nice to meet you, brother.
28:32He's got it, man.
28:33You're my hero.
28:33Thank you, brother.
28:34That's very kind of you to say that.
28:34I collected merchandise from you.
28:36Well, you know what?
28:37As you're collecting that merchandise, I think your brother should pay for it.
28:40Okay.
28:40Love you, man.
28:41I really was here for a reason more than just wrestling.
28:44Something's going on here that I haven't figured out yet,
28:45that something really big is going to happen.
28:47Yeah.
28:48There's a shot in here of you and Donald Trump.
28:50Staying out of politics has always been as a businessman,
28:53because my Hulk and maniacs have always been Democrats and Republicans.
28:55My arms aren't as big as his, I'll tell you.
28:57You ever seen anything like that?
28:58It's amazing.
28:58So he wanted to stay out of politics, and when they'd ask him a question,
29:01because everything was about, you know, politics, frankly,
29:03and he would be sort of, like, neutral at best,
29:06and he wanted to be politically correct, and, you know,
29:08he doesn't want to lose fans and all that.
29:09I understand that.
29:10Listen, baby, you do it.
29:11Okay.
29:11I'll give it a shot.
29:12You know, I met Donald Trump back in the day, in the 80s.
29:14He's my friend.
29:15A lot of people would say I'm completely crazy, but I know the person.
29:17I know him very well.
29:18I'm not saying I agree with everything he does,
29:20but at least he's honest about who he is.
29:24All right, just to be clear, this is going to be a little bit of a zoo.
29:262016, I was one of these cowards that voted for Trump,
29:28that I wouldn't wear the red hat.
29:29It's an honor to be here.
29:30I can tell you that.
29:312020 voted for Trump.
29:32I was still the coward.
29:33Well, I was afraid to speak out, so I was really afraid to get into politics.
29:35And I think he regrets that.
29:39Perfect.
29:40I was going to vote for him this next time,
29:41and I want to keep a low profile, but they tried to kill Trump.
29:48They tried to shoot him the other day.
29:49I did it for me, man.
29:51But I was done.
29:52I was pissed.
29:54I told my wife it's not going to be a deal breaker.
29:56That's something I have to do.
29:58Knowing that if I spoke out,
29:59that it could jeopardize everything from my businesses to my life.
30:02Coming forward for Trump, as an entertainer,
30:04you divide your audience, and he was nervous about that.
30:07Mike Johnson, here's the house.
30:08I've been a man of you my whole life.
30:09Thanks so kindly for all those wonderful memories.
30:10It was a lot of fun.
30:12Hulk was always very controversial, and that's okay.
30:14I'm fairly controversial.
30:16I think I've become less controversial over the years,
30:17but I'm fairly controversial, too.
30:19But I don't think Hulk cares about that,
30:20and I don't care about that either.
30:30USA! USA! USA! USA!
30:34Well, let me tell you something, brother.
30:38You know something, when I came here tonight,
30:40there was so much energy in this room,
30:42I felt maybe I was in Madison Square Garden,
30:44getting ready to win another world title.
30:46Yeah!
30:49But what I found out was I was in a room for my real Americans, brother.
30:54And when they took a shot at my hero,
30:58and they tried to kill the next president of the United States.
31:03Enough was enough.
31:11He did the shirt ripping, he did the whole thing,
31:13and the place went crazy.
31:14After 20,000 people just explode.
31:29He tore his shirt off, just like it was 1985 all over again.
31:32And I'm sure having that crowd go wild probably felt like old times.
31:35What you gonna do when Donald Trump and all the Trumpamaniacs
31:38run wild on you, brother?
31:46Hulk, it's your all-time favorite president,
31:48and I just want to tell you, you were unbelievable at the convention.
31:51I like the talk of the town, and we had, by the way,
31:54I don't know if you heard, like, the biggest ratings
31:55they've ever had for any of these things by far.
31:56Fox had the biggest ratings they've ever had.
31:59And you were the star.
32:00Nobody could do what you did and entertain.
32:02And we love having you on our side.
32:03You're a winner, man.
32:04You're a champ and a winner.
32:05And I think it was really good for you, too.
32:06I have to tell you, everyone was really impressed.
32:08Take care of yourself.
32:09Thanks, Mike.
32:13Yes, sir.
32:14America's back.
32:14We got our country back.
32:16How you guys doing?
32:18Okay, man.
32:19For a lot of wrestling fans like me, it was like,
32:21Hulk Hogan should be bigger than politics, right?
32:23I mean, like, Superman is bigger than politics, right?
32:25Because now he's just politics.
32:27There you go, big man.
32:28Officer, I could not appreciate you enough
32:29for what you did for Trump, too, man.
32:30Thank you.
32:31We got him in, didn't we?
32:31We got him in, brother.
32:32In this new chapter of his life,
32:33he wanted to be as authentic and true to himself,
32:35not just the Hulk Hogan character.
32:37And, you know, it wasn't without some backlash.
32:38We did get death threat letters,
32:40but, you know, for the overall pro-America brand,
32:42it was great.
32:46I cannot believe, after 45 years,
32:48all you Hulkamaniacs must be with me.
32:53I hate to go there, but we got our country back.
32:55Thank God.
32:59All right, everybody here,
33:00watch one, three, real American beer.
33:02Give me a Hacksaw Jim Duggan.
33:04Hello.
33:06They said you can't put your picture on the can.
33:08Nobody does it.
33:09Drumsquithy doesn't do it.
33:09I said, B.S., watch me.
33:12Love you, too.
33:13Thank you.
33:15I think all you want to let that be present.
33:17Happy job.
33:19No matter what side you're on,
33:20there's 50% of the population that's on the other side.
33:23I don't believe in discussing politics and religion.
33:25You keep your political beliefs to yourself,
33:27or you alienate 50% of your audience right off the bat.
33:40Netflix was sort of a coming-out party for us.
33:42We had just signed a monumental deal to be on that platform,
33:45so we wanted to blend past, present, and future of WWE.
33:49It was important to see people like Hogan there.
33:52Welcome to Monday Night Raw!
34:03Monday Night Raw in L.A., Netflix premiere.
34:10I was very stoked to see Hulk Hogan,
34:12and he gave me a giant duffel bag of the beer.
34:15It stung a little to feel that he wasn't as well-received as previously.
34:44Well, let me tell you something, brother!
34:49I was backstage, and I was like,
34:50holy shit, Hogan's getting booed out of the building.
34:52Did I think he was going to get booed out of the building?
34:54Probably.
34:55Especially in L.A., where I like,
34:56there's just a different vibe there,
34:58and a different mentality there.
35:03You know something, man, X?
35:04I've been in this business for over 40 years.
35:08I said, Jimmy Hart, Gerald.
35:09He goes, oh, no, they didn't believe that.
35:10I said, Jimmy.
35:12The people booed me like crazy.
35:15I could have L.A. hate me
35:16if I went on Jesse Waters three times a week.
35:19Get your Trump pump on, everybody.
35:20Great to see you, Hulk.
35:21We'll see you at the ball.
35:21This is politics.
35:23No need to play or hit the game.
35:24We're going to a damn blue state,
35:25going, okay, I'll let it ride,
35:27because he saw a go again.
35:28People were saying,
35:29oh, it's because of his affiliation with Trump,
35:30but I don't know.
35:31I felt like I knew why.
35:31He's made a lot of mistakes.
35:32For some people,
35:34he hasn't necessarily always
35:37atoned for those mistakes,
35:37or even the apologies were seen as hollow.
35:39So many people couldn't look past that,
35:41and he's just got a polarizing presence.
35:43Those people waiting on Hulk Hogan
35:45to come out and make any kind of statement,
35:47just so they can let him know
35:48how they really feel about him.
35:49That night, too much of the artists
35:52has been exposed for them to perhaps cheer.
35:55Who knows what the truth really is?
35:56Here's all I know.
35:57You're not, you have bothered you.
36:01Do you want to go out being cheered
36:02or go out being brood?
36:03Be cheered, of course.
36:04You had to feel a little sad about that, right?
36:06No, brother.
36:07No.
36:07No, man.
36:07When I saw how intense they were coming to me,
36:09if they hadn't had a knife,
36:10they'd have stuck me in the neck with it.
36:11So am I upset by that?
36:12Are you kidding me?
36:13Brothers, completely opposite of what you think.
36:15Bro, I could come back as a bad guy in L.A.
36:16and sell out that building with anybody.
36:19And as crippled as I am,
36:20they'd love to see my crippled ass
36:21get in that ring and get strapped
36:22and beat and punched
36:22and cut my head off
36:23and bleed like a pig for him
36:24because that red will turn to green instantly.
36:25And it's like, they would love it.
36:27If you're getting booed
36:27because that's your job
36:28and that's your role
36:29as an antagonist,
36:31please, boo me more.
36:32But if your job is to go out there
36:34as the good guy
36:35and you're not getting the reaction,
36:36that's a different story, of course.
36:37You know, I used to go to L.A.
36:38and they would cheer me out of the building, you know?
36:40Let's go, man.
36:40Man, how's everybody doing?
36:43Holy smokes.
36:43How's it feeling to see the Guardian?
36:45Hold on, hold on, hold on.
36:46Whoa.
36:46But then I go to New York
36:47and people just cheer me everywhere I go.
36:49Run wild, brother.
36:51Not everyone in your life is going to love you.
36:53You have people that don't like you.
36:54You know, there's no winning.
36:56Was there a difference
36:56when you get cheered versus them?
36:58Yeah, of course, of course.
37:02In all my glory,
37:03my whole Canadian is running wild.
37:05The crowd is magic.
37:06The energy will just drag you up out of any hole.
37:08I saw Bruno San Martino.
37:09I've seen Elvis Presley in there.
37:10Nobody bigger than you, Hulk.
37:11As soon as I get that ring,
37:13it was just the end-all be-all, you know?
37:15Where nothing else in the world matters
37:17except that present moment
37:18that you're in the ring.
37:22When I went in that ring,
37:22I was not Terry.
37:23When I went in that ring, brother,
37:24I was Hulk Hogan.
37:25I believed it.
37:26It's just magic.
37:28The Hulk seems to get stronger.
37:30That's why I fell in love with Russell.
37:31Can I understand this?
37:32How is this man still standing?
37:35Once you plug in,
37:37you're in that moment
37:37where there's a flow.
37:39A flow gets stronger and stronger,
37:41and there's just like this crazy tsunami.
37:45It's just this crazy flow
37:47of just being there,
37:50catching the right wave,
37:53just staying tight by it
37:54and never coming out of it,
37:55just living and dying there.
37:57There's nothing else like it.
37:58I don't know how to say it,
37:59but it's almost like you're coming all the time.
38:07I always believed wrestling
38:08was the most important thing there is.
38:09It was immortality.
38:13But I found out later
38:14that that's not the gateway
38:16to eternal happiness.
38:18Do you remember the time
38:20when you were the happiest?
38:21Yeah.
38:22Okay, come here.
38:23Oh, you're holding it?
38:23You're holding it?
38:24Yeah.
38:24The Hulk's your board.
38:26Yeah.
38:26The ride you'll never forget.
38:28It's my baby.
38:32I mean, I'm getting really weird flashbacks,
38:34you know, during the day.
38:37Dad, I stepped back
38:38to his world tour,
38:391990,
38:40and we're 11,000 miles.
38:41Oh, my God.
38:43And I'll be in the car by myself
38:44and I'll think of something.
38:45You know, I'll catch myself smiling
38:47like the village idiot by myself,
38:48you know,
38:48because I'll think of something
38:49more personal
38:50and it'll make me smile.
38:56as far as this
38:57human incarnation goes
38:58when I had my kids,
38:59when I had both my kids,
38:59they were very young.
39:00Babies.
39:01Kitty.
39:02She's a monkey's baby.
39:03Mm-hmm.
39:03The young kids
39:04that were really healthy.
39:05Yeah.
39:07When Linda
39:07was being the best mom
39:08I've ever seen
39:09and just being a great wife
39:11and was steady as she goes,
39:13being the perfect mom
39:14and the perfect friend,
39:17and the perfect soulmate
39:19across the board,
39:20that was probably
39:22the most happiest
39:23I've ever been.
39:24Come out of here.
39:25Come out of here.
39:26I thought we were going to die.
39:27Dad!
39:28I just saw Sarah.
39:29I just saw Sarah.
39:30I saw her back in the back.
39:31I went to the girl
39:31with the ocean.
39:32God, look at his hair.
39:34Can you see?
39:36It's not Pixie,
39:37doesn't it?
39:37It's reindeer, doesn't it?
39:38I'm going to say
39:39I'm going to bring my hair.
39:50So we're done here?
39:50I think we're good for today.
39:52Maybe in a couple months
39:52we do this one more time.
39:54Okay.
39:54Like three months,
39:55whenever down the road
39:55and we pick up
39:56any little things
39:56that we miss.
39:57But I think we've got
39:58tons to start.
40:01Oof.
40:03You're done.
40:03It's hard to give up.
40:17We have some breaking news
40:19right now to tell you
40:19about wrestling legend
40:20Hulk Hogan died today
40:21after suffering
40:21and cardiac arrest
40:22at his home
40:22in Clearwater, Florida.
40:23Now to the death
40:23of wrestling icon
40:24Hulk Hogan,
40:24the man known the world over
40:25who defied the face of wrestling.
40:27Hogan, whose real name
40:28was Terry Balea.
40:28Terry Balea
40:29is widely recognized
40:30as the biggest wrestling star
40:31of all time.
40:32The tributes have been pouring
40:33and people grew up
40:34knowing and watching
40:35Hulk Hogan
40:35and then fans have been coming
40:36in a steady stream
40:37all day taking pictures.
40:38One of pop culture's
40:39most recognizable figures.
40:40Larger than my figure.
40:41Gone in what seems
40:41like such a sudden way.
40:42He died at the age of 71.
40:44I think that he was 71 years old.
40:47I talked to Eric Bischoff.
40:49Eric called me this morning
40:50at 1130
40:51and said,
40:52hey man,
40:54I just heard that
40:55Hulk may have a heart issue
40:56and that he's gone to the hospital.
40:58Hung up with him,
40:59called Paul.
41:00On the phone with Paul.
41:01Paul said,
41:02hang on.
41:03He says,
41:04oh my God,
41:06they're reporting
41:07that Hulk died.
41:11And it's just surreal.
41:18Hoekster.
41:19Where'd that come from?
41:22Where the hell
41:22did that come from?
41:25It signified
41:26the end of my era.
41:28That it was now,
41:29the book was closed.
41:31Hulk dying
41:31made you feel real mortal.
41:41It's strange because
41:42there was never a time
41:43where I was in his gym
41:43working out without him.
41:47but it's comforting
41:49in a way
41:49to be around
41:50his weight equipment
41:51in his gym.
41:55Nicholas just wants
41:56nothing but his dad.
41:57Only wants his dad.
42:02It was just
42:02tough to process
42:03all of it.
42:05You know,
42:06everybody knows
42:06he went in
42:06to have a neck surgery.
42:09And, you know,
42:09after the neck surgery,
42:10there were
42:11some complications.
42:13This is the day
42:14before Terry went in
42:14for neck surgery.
42:15He's, you know,
42:16we're smiling,
42:17he's bright-eyed,
42:18and, um,
42:20we never got back
42:20to that spot again.
42:22It was about
42:23two and a half months
42:23that we were
42:24in and out
42:25of hospitals,
42:26but he still showed
42:27so much resilience
42:28and strength
42:28in those moments.
42:30I wish we never did
42:31the neck surgery.
42:33What?
42:36Oh.
42:38All right.
42:39All right.
42:39The thing that I'll miss
42:40the most is just
42:41being able to call him.
42:42You know,
42:42it just feels weird
42:43that I haven't talked to him.
42:44I still cared about him
42:45the same.
42:46It doesn't go away.
42:47I, you know,
42:47I wish things would have
42:48turned out differently for us.
42:50All right!
42:50Planned out by ourselves.
42:52But then when he got sick,
42:53I realized that
42:54my love never faded for him.
42:56I still had love for him.
42:57I really do.
42:58I still love him.
42:59It's my baby.
43:01How do you know it's okay?
43:04You know,
43:04somebody that was your partner
43:05for so long,
43:06and then to see him
43:07suffering like that
43:08toward the end,
43:08and, you know,
43:10to just know that he really
43:10didn't deserve to go out that way,
43:12it's sad.
43:13You know,
43:14it's sad for my kids.
43:16In my eyes,
43:16he was always immortal.
43:18The child in me
43:19always believed that.
43:20He's just
43:21the old size 17 boot.
43:23And for comparison,
43:25my shoe is a size 12.
43:29big feet on the table.
43:31This is that big feet.
43:31You need your cake with those feet.
43:44Hey, guys.
43:44Welcome to Cleveland.
43:45Just before we get started,
43:46as I'm sure everyone is aware,
43:47unfortunate passing of Hulk Hogan
43:50yesterday.
43:52Hard to say there's been
43:53a more influential figure,
43:54especially on the performing side.
43:57No one is perfect in life,
43:59and they had ups and downs,
44:00but we're going to continue
44:01to remember Hulk Hogan
44:02as what he meant
44:02to this industry.
44:04His influence
44:05cannot be denied,
44:06and it cannot be overstated.
44:09You could make an argument
44:10that we probably
44:10wouldn't be sitting here today.
44:11This business might have
44:12gone in the way
44:13of Roller Derby
44:13or some other shit
44:14that didn't quite
44:15make it to the end,
44:16but here we are.
44:17So we're going to start
44:18this show out tonight
44:18with a 10-bell salute
44:19with everybody on stage.
44:21I don't think
44:21it needs to be said,
44:22but anybody that has
44:23an issue
44:24does not want
44:25to be on that stage.
44:26No problem,
44:26no issue,
44:27no anything.
44:30I know it's complicated.
44:31I do,
44:32how everyone feels,
44:32but I think we all
44:33have to kind of wrestle
44:34with the idea
44:34that he's gone,
44:36and there's so many
44:37great things about
44:38the Immoral Hulk Hogan.
44:39Can we focus on those?
44:43This is such a shock.
44:44You know,
44:45Hulk and I have been friends
44:45for over 40 years.
44:47Everything that we've done together,
44:48now all of a sudden
44:49it's over.
44:49I just couldn't believe it.
44:51And I still choke up
44:52every now and then
44:52when I talk about it.
44:54I know tonight
44:54when we go on the stage
44:55out here
44:56and do the 10-bell salute,
44:57I know it's going to
44:57break down again.
44:59And this is the face
45:00of the Hulkster
45:00that's going to represent
45:01the whole country of America.
45:03What a great night, Hulkster.
45:05I know you're probably
45:05looking upstairs, man.
45:06What a great night for you.
45:09I know I'm going to be
45:10very sad.
45:10It's like being at a place
45:12where I know my friend
45:13wants to be here
45:13with us doing this tonight,
45:14and he won't be.
45:16And I know he's up there
45:17now looking down tonight,
45:17but he's with all his friends.
45:19His friends are down here,
45:19and his friends are up there, Brian.
45:21He's going to see Dusty Rose.
45:22He's going to see
45:23Andre the John,
45:24the Iron Sheik.
45:25He's going to see Randy Savage,
45:26Roddy Roddy Piper,
45:27Mean Gene Oakley.
45:29Maybe you can just go to the ring
45:30one more time up there
45:31and you can just say
45:31what you always said to Mean Gene.
45:33Let me tell you something, brother.
45:34But let me tell you something, brother!
45:37The part of him
45:37I'm going to miss the most
45:38is just going to be
45:39hearing his voice every day.
45:41Are you kidding?
45:42No, I'm not kidding at all.
45:44Will the man ever get back together?
45:45No, it's going to have to be upstairs.
45:47Don't let me tell you something, baby.
45:50You know,
45:51Hawk would love this, though.
45:52If you were here,
45:53Sergeant Terry,
45:54you know,
45:55Hacksaw,
45:56part of the past, man.
45:57He would love this.
45:59It still seems unreal.
46:01I can't even believe it.
46:04I just wish Hawk could be here with me,
46:05because I know he'd want to be.
46:07He'd love it.
46:09This is what Hawk
46:10always loved his whole life.
46:11He'd love this.
46:26Ladies and gentlemen,
46:28yesterday,
46:29we lost one of the biggest
46:30icons in the world.
46:35The truth is,
46:37we would not be standing here
46:39right now,
46:40all of us together,
46:40if it was not for him.
46:47So please,
46:48help us honor him now,
46:51as we give a ten-bell salute
46:52to Terry Balea,
46:54the one,
46:55and the only,
46:57the immortal,
46:58Hulk Hogan.
47:00Thank you.
47:02Thank you.
47:06Thank you.
47:08Thank you.
47:29What do you think
47:30he'll be remembered for?
47:31Well,
47:31what he accomplished
47:32was taking wrestling
47:33to seismographic levels
47:36it had never seen before.
47:37He was the golden goose,
47:39the greatest entertainer
47:40of all time.
47:42They had a Mount Rushmore
47:43where he talked to wrestling.
47:44He still is.
47:44I mean,
47:45there's Hulk and there's everybody else.
47:46Stand behind it all the way,
47:47daddy.
47:47It's USA and Hulkamania
47:48running wild.
47:50Arguably the most recognizable man
47:51on the planet.
47:53He lifted our business to heights
47:54that we could have never imagined.
47:56Even in the very end,
47:57he was now powerful enough
47:59to get presidents elected.
48:02Believe in yourself.
48:03You're trying to say
48:03your prayers,
48:04you're fighting.
48:04You know how to make those fears
48:05believe in him.
48:07And if you can do that
48:08in this business,
48:09then you're hell for wrestling.
48:11At the end of every match,
48:13I didn't stand the ovation.
48:14So what I'm suggesting
48:15to all of you is that
48:16we give Hulk Hogan Israel
48:18a last standing ovation
48:19right now.
48:37People don't remember what they say,
48:39they don't remember what they do,
48:39they remember how you make them feel.
48:41As time goes on,
48:42people's memories fade
48:42of things he did
48:43that they didn't like
48:44to some degree.
48:45I believe that the last thing
48:46that will fade in them
48:47is how Hulk Hogan made them feel.
48:48In the life of Hulk Hogan,
48:50what is reality?
48:51What is the real truth?
48:52Strangely enough,
48:53emotions are always truthful,
48:55no matter how crazy
48:56and implausible the story might be.
48:58And searching for truth
49:00gives us dignity,
49:01gives us meaning.
49:06Hulk Hogan made millions of people
49:07around the world feel.
49:08Give me an H!
49:09Feel patriotic.
49:10Give me a U!
49:11Feel a rush of adrenaline,
49:12feel excited.
49:13Give me an L!
49:13Give me a K!
49:14Hey!
49:14Feel elated for this guy
49:16that they thought was
49:17the all-time hero.
49:18But he made people feel
49:19this one.
49:20Hulk Hogan did it.
49:33Terry Boy,
49:34it was just a human being.
49:36Okay.
49:39But the legend of Hulk Hogan
49:42was this forever.
49:52Hulk Hogan,
49:52Bug's money,
49:53has trellis due to a match.
49:54Right!
49:54What are you gonna do next?
49:55Bring up that half-baked drink,
49:57the fruit pit from the lake?
50:10That's incredible.
50:1024 inches.
50:11Let me see that.
50:11Let me see.
50:27Everybody's gonna be trapped
50:32in this movie.
50:35It's a movie.
50:35The Hulkster's in the house.
50:37Check him out,
50:38check him out.
50:39When the going gets tough,
50:41the tough get rough.
50:42Hey, hey, hey,
50:43oh, come on,
50:44let's go!
