06:01Oh, that's nice tell me about what you've all been doing since I last saw you say Willow. I've learned

06:08Great, how about you Thomas?
06:11I've started a podcast
06:13fantastic
06:16Fletcher, how about you? Well, I did my interview with the Wiggles. I saw that very very good
06:22What's the best part about being a wiggle best thing about being a wiggle?
06:26I think Fletcher is getting a chance to meet people like you
06:29Did you enjoy it? Yes, I did. What were they like?
06:34Like come straight out of TV
06:38What about you Bethany? I got to work at a festival actually and did that with Angus
06:43And we got to invite people from the festival like musicians to come and sit in our morning show and

06:49Oh, how cool. So do we know what Angus is up to? Angus is working at Triple J. That's fantastic
06:57Very exciting. I am so proud of all the incredible things that the students have done since they appeared on
07:03the assembly
07:03But more than that, I'm just so thrilled at watching their confidence develop
07:07Would you like me to tell you who our first guest is going to be for this?
07:12He is one half of Australia's most famous comedy duo
07:17He is a quiz master
07:19He is an internationally successful author. Do you want to have a stab at guessing who it is, Thomas?
07:25Andy Lee
07:26It is Andy Lee
07:30Yes, Andy Lee
07:32Good guess
07:34What do you know about him Thomas?
07:35The fact that he's done do not open this book. He's done the hundred
07:38We are back. A brand new season of the hundred only made possible by the people up there
07:43He's um from Hamish and Andy. He's done gap year. Hello there. Hi
07:47You promised me you'll see me down there?
07:50Yeah, I'll see you down there
08:01He's also been nominated for gold logies and he has won a logie with Hamish. Yeah, they're very very popular
08:08Well, we thought we'd give it a try. I would be blind and Hamish would be deaf for 50 hours
08:14Guys, I just want to take this opportunity to tell you both that Hamish wipes his bum from the front
08:20He does
08:23Anastasia you seem pretty excited about Andy
08:25I was actually recently watching do not watch the show and I watched the first episode and I thought it
08:30was like really really really funny
08:32How are you feeling with
08:36This is the first person who made a cartoon show that's coming on the show
08:42And I'm really excited to be talking about animation with him. I haven't got time for you today
08:48Let's do it
08:49Shall we split into our group?
08:51Let's do it. Let's split into our groups
08:52Alright
09:00Alrighty, let's start hearing our questions for Andy Lee
09:04I gotta get my notebook out
09:06Do I have a question about how he got banned from the Olympic Village?
09:09Hi
09:11Hello, Babish Lee
09:12I know you're all very excited about Andy
09:15These questions I come up with are very cheeky
09:18Oh, okay, I like it when you're cheeky
09:20I have done just a tiny bit of research on it
09:24Whoa!
09:24Is that tiny?
09:26That is good
09:26I researched that he's always checking in with his friends and maybe he may have had a friend that committed
09:33suicide
09:33Yeah
09:34That's something
09:35Good thinking
09:35Coming back to the Assembly
09:37I'm doing a lot more research
09:39I'm not afraid to ask the hard questions
09:42Yeah, that's a good question
09:44Do we like Andy's comedy?
09:46I associate him and Hamish together
09:51Yeah
09:52What fascinates me about Andy is the whole comedy duo thing
09:56I like Andy Lee a lot
09:58But what I also find interesting about Andy Lee is he's often pushed behind Hamish and doesn't get the success
10:05that he probably deserves
10:08Because he is a very funny guy
10:10Andy is funny
10:11He is, like he can stand on his own two feet
10:14He seems to have a love for Australian architecture if he bought that mansion he's doing up as well
10:19Yeah, I think it was built 1874
10:21Oh, that's interesting
10:23Okay, Evie
10:24I've written six
10:25Good
10:26I heard about Do Not Watch The Show and I didn't know he made it
10:29I was like, oh, that was him?
10:30So then I was like, okay, I need to watch it now and I've watched it and I was like,
10:34oh my gosh
10:35Did you like it?
10:36I loved it
10:37One of my dreams is to be a voice actor and I also very love drawing so I'm very excited
10:44to meet Andy Lee
10:45Alright, Thomas, what do you reckon?
10:48Okay
10:48Are there any more Do Not Open This Books in the Works?
10:51And I've already put some suggestions
10:53Do not open this book I beg you
10:56Do not open this book now go away
11:00Listen to me do not open this book
11:02Do not open this book or you'll be sorry
11:06Do not be an idiot and do not open this book
11:10I said for the last time do not open this book
11:14Can I just say they're amazing
11:17They are so brilliant I would publish every single one of those
11:22Good work gang, see you at the interview
11:35Are you okay, Anastasia?
11:36Yeah, I'm doing fine, just a bit nervous, that's all
11:38We all get a bit nervous
11:40I'm just hoping that Andy doesn't know me because right now I'm about to Andy flee
11:44So do you know what I do sometimes before an interview if I'm getting a bit overwhelmed and a bit
11:47stressed?
11:48Just do some good deep breathing, okay?
11:50Yeah, I do that too
11:50Let's do some box breathing everyone together, okay?
11:52Okay, so in for four
11:57Hold for four
12:01Out for four
12:04See how that calms you down?
12:05Yeah, thank you
12:09Hi!
12:10How are you my friend?
12:11Brand to see you
12:12Yeah, you too
12:13Hello
12:14Hello
12:15Can I say I'm a big fan of your show
12:17Thank you, even though you've been told not to watch them?
12:20Yes, even if I told not to watch
12:24Hi there, I'm Andy
12:26Ciao
12:27Ciao, good to see you
12:28We watched the show
12:30And the book
12:31I didn't realise there's a bunch of rebels here
12:34Alright, Andrew, do you want to kick us off?
12:36Thank you
12:37Hello Andy, I'm Andrew, welcome
12:40Hello Andrew
12:41This is a safe place
12:43Everyone can relax and be themselves
12:45There will be no judgement
12:47Please do what you need to join in
12:50For example, fidget, move, take a break
12:53Ask if you need anything to help you to be included
12:55Welcome Andy
12:56I feel very welcome
12:57Thank you very much Andy
12:59Thank you
13:02Hello Andy
13:03Hey Savannah
13:04We are a collective of autistic journalism students
13:07And we are very happy to have you join us today
13:10I'm very happy to be here
13:12Aww
13:13Aww
13:14Our rules are
13:15No subject is out of bounds
13:17Ugh, maybe I'm not happy to be here
13:21No I am, I am, sorry Savannah
13:22Sorry
13:23Okay
13:23Our rules are
13:25No subject is out of bounds
13:26No question is off the table
13:28And anything might happen
13:32Welcome to the assembly
13:33Thank you very much
13:34How funny
13:36Our first question is going to be from Fletcher
13:38Yeah
13:39You have a lot of luck with the ladies
13:41And now engaged
13:42I am still looking for my first girlfriend
13:44Do you remember your first girlfriend
13:45And can you pass on any tips on how to get girls that are much better looking than you?
13:54Yes, I do have experience in dating people that are far more attractive than me
13:59Thank you for pointing that out
14:03To be honest, be yourself Fletcher
14:05The one thing that I find really interesting about dating and when I was single
14:09People would be telling me what to do
14:11And don't text her this day, but make sure you wait three days and do this
14:15And I found that really hard
14:18And overwhelming
14:20And so as soon as I went back to just being myself
14:23If I liked someone, I'd ask them out
14:26If they said no, that's okay
14:27I didn't waste time on it
14:29So I think being yourself
14:33It's lovely when you find someone that's really compatible with you
14:36And so that person will also come to you
14:38Thank you, Andy
14:39Thank you, Fletcher
14:42Hey Andy, I'm Finn
14:43Hey Finn
14:44Were there any moments on the show, Hamish and Andy's gap year
14:47When you were genuinely fearful of your life?
14:51Yeah
14:52We went and jumped off a bridge in Bosnia
14:54Oh, what?
14:56In a place called Mostar
14:58And the bridge was 25 metres high
15:02And I'm not particularly scared of heights
15:04Hamish is
15:05So I thought this would be
15:06I organised this one
15:07Oh no, no, no
15:08I jumped off first
15:09Um
15:10It was extremely painful
15:12I bruised every vertebrae in my back
15:14Ooh
15:15Ooh
15:16But after I felt my pain
15:18I was completely winded
15:19And I got to the edge of the river
15:22And I told the cameraman
15:24Tell him not to jump
15:25Tell him not to jump
15:27Tell him not to jump
15:27Tell him not to jump
15:28And the cameraman was kind of half not paying attention to me
15:31Because Hamish had already stepped over the rail
15:33Oh
15:34Yeah, that's the time I felt the most scared for my friend
15:37And thought
15:38We shouldn't be doing this
15:40Yeah
15:40So yeah, please
15:41No one go and do that
15:42Sorry
15:43We won't
15:44Yes
15:44And it's not like the books
15:46It's like do not do that
15:47And you still do it
15:48Okay, this one's a do not do that
15:49Oliver
15:51Hi Andy
15:52You and Hamish started on the same track
15:55Fast forward to now
15:56Hamish has a wife, two kids and a calendar full of school pickups
16:00You've got a fiance, no kids and a giant renovation project
16:04Who's really winning at life?
16:06Me
16:06No
16:08Next question
16:09No
16:10Um
16:12It's an interesting thing to ask
16:14Winning at life
16:17It's completely down to the person and what makes them happy
16:20I'm absolutely content with my fiance and trying to build a house and my dog
16:25But
16:26Um
16:27We always measure success by
16:29Sometimes money
16:31Or happiness and all those type of things
16:34It's tough when it comes to power or money
16:35Because I've got a friend of mine who just works nine to five
16:38Labouring
16:39Clocks off
16:40Goes to the pub
16:40Hangs out with his friends
16:41Has the best time
16:42Doesn't worry about work
16:43And I actually think he's the most successful
16:46Because he's winning life
16:47Because it's exactly what he wants to do
16:48And he feels really content
16:50So
16:50If you're content with what you're doing
16:52I think you're winning life
16:54Thank you very much
16:55Abby
16:55Your go
16:56Why did it take you forever to propose to Beck?
17:00Oh
17:01Abby
17:02You've got to do your proper due diligence
17:04You know
17:05Several references
17:07Background checks
17:09I had several private investigators follow Beck for numerous years
17:13Gather all the data to make sure she's the right one for me
17:18The real reason is we were just having so much fun
17:20I knew Beck was the one for me pretty early
17:26But when you're having fun and you've got other things to do
17:29It didn't quite feel like the right time
17:31Certainly we've both grown together and individually
17:35And I think making a big life decision whether it's marriage or any of those things
17:40It's really nice to do things
17:41It's really nice to do it on a really stable footing
17:43When both people in the relationship are feeling really comfortable
17:47And really sure of themselves
17:48And Beck and I had got to that place
17:50So that's where I felt like it was the right time to get married
17:53Well I do love a good wedding
17:58Was there a time when opening up to a friend made a real difference in your life?
18:04Yeah
18:05Yeah, yeah, yeah
18:06It's um
18:07I think we can carry things quite heavy
18:10At times
18:11And this one
18:14This came to me because I was carrying something quite heavy
18:18And I did go and seek therapy
18:20I sought counselling for that
18:23And when I was younger I was like
18:25Counselling's for wusses, what's all that about?
18:27I really didn't believe
18:28Yeah, that was not the way that I kind of viewed the world
18:33And as I got older and realised that I was being troubled
18:37I felt I really have to turn to someone
18:41Talking to a therapist
18:42They just said
18:43You need to tell more people about this
18:47And when people say that saying
18:48A problem shared is a problem halved
18:50There is a truth to that
18:52I think it's really important that you can feel a sense of relief
18:54But also you can gather intel
18:57On how you might find a solution
18:59When you share these type of problems
19:02So yeah, that was really helpful
19:04Well I think it's really important to have friends
19:07Absolutely
19:08Yeah
19:09Savannah, have you ever been arrested?
19:12Or gone to jail?
19:14Or gone to jail?
19:16I haven't been arrested
19:18I have been put in the back of a divvy van though
19:21What's a divvy van?
19:23A divvy van is the police car
19:25That looks like a nice station wagon
19:28But instead of the back of it
19:29Where you put your surfboards and your dog sometimes
19:31They put the criminals
19:32So it's not a nice place to be
19:33And it's a cage inside that
19:35And I was involved in a pub fight
19:38When I was 19 years old
19:41And the police came
19:43And they grabbed me
19:45And they put me in the back of a divvy van
19:47So I was scared
19:48And I thought
19:50Am I going to end up in jail?
19:52Where does this go from here?
19:54But thankfully
19:56After everything had calmed down
19:57They let me out
19:58And I got to go home
20:00Thank you Andy
20:01Thank you
20:02Willow
20:06Mine is Willow
20:07Hello Willow
20:08You lost your tooth
20:09During an ice game incident
20:10You had to have a cow bone
20:12Screwed into your teeth
20:14Does that make you feel weird
20:16When you eat steak?
20:18Sorry!
20:22I've never thought about that
20:23I mean
20:24I might feel weird now
20:25And I'll be thinking
20:26I'll be thinking of you
20:27Every time I have a steak
20:30The steaks are getting high
20:35So
20:36Yes
20:37I lost
20:37These two front teeth are fake
20:39Yeah
20:40Yeah
20:40They came
20:41I smashed them playing ice hockey with Hamish
20:43So
20:45I had to have them taken out
20:46And I've got a titanium tooth in
20:48They screw it in
20:49With cow bones
20:50And then
20:51They had to rebuild my jawline with cow bone
20:53You're right Willow
20:54So
20:54They used cow bone
20:56And they layer the bone in there
20:57And that moulds to my bone
20:59But
20:59I wondered whether I'm now half man half cow
21:03You know
21:03I do sleep standing up
21:05And
21:05I get
21:06I get scared of lightning
21:07So
21:08Yeah
21:09But no the steak thing
21:10I'll think of you every time now
21:12Oh no
21:12I mean
21:13Yeah
21:14Thank you
21:15Thank you Willow
21:16Here
21:17Take care of us
21:18Hello Andy
21:20Hello Andy
21:20I'm Anastasia
21:21Lovely to meet you
21:22Alright
21:23When we interviewed Hamish
21:25On this area
21:27I asked him
21:28What are the pros and cons about you
21:30Oh
21:31And he was actually really honest
21:33So
21:34Oh no
21:34Oh yeah
21:36Yeah
21:37You already know what's coming
21:38So
21:39Let's go the opposite way now
21:41What are the pros and cons about Hamish
21:44Right
21:45I'll start with the pros
21:49I mean
21:49He's so funny
21:51But beyond funniness
21:52He's an amazing friend
21:54So I always felt that we were going to be on great adventures
21:57And when you catch up with Hamish
22:00You know something fun is going to happen
22:02And they're the best type of friends for me
22:04You know when you can go and have fun
22:06And
22:06It's not saying that every friend has to be this outrageously funny adventurous person
22:10But that's what draws me to Haim
22:12And I just never get sick of him
22:15Cons
22:17Here's the list I prepared earlier
22:21He knew this was coming so he came prepared
22:25Hamish as he puts it himself
22:27Is fast and loose
22:29So he's very unpredictable at times
22:31Which makes him a lot of fun
22:33But also you can be left going where is he?
22:36Is he coming?
22:38No one knows
22:39I remember one day we were meant to be writing
22:41Because we were hosting an awards ceremony
22:43And I'm sitting at the cafe
22:46And ten minutes goes past
22:47And I'm thinking
22:48That's normally about the time he's late
22:50He's always late
22:5215 minutes
22:53Better call him
22:54Maybe he hasn't forgotten
22:55And I called him
22:57And he picks up the phone and says
22:59Do you think we need a radar gun?
23:02And I said
23:03What?
23:04What are you talking about?
23:04He said
23:05I'm at the cricket shop
23:07It could be fun for us to see how fast we're bowling
23:11Now neither of us really play cricket
23:13But this is the impulse nature of Haim
23:16He gets on the scent of something like an excitable dog
23:20Hound and off he goes
23:21And it normally follows fun and adventure
23:23So his con is also I've benefited from many, many times
23:28Okay, my next question is
23:30What is your advice to someone who wants to be a voice actor?
23:34Try different voices
23:36Definitely
23:36Like this one
23:37Pikachu
23:38Yes
23:40But when you're doing it
23:42Always stand up
23:43No
23:44Unless the character's sitting
23:46But make sure you express
23:48Like people always think that they're going to be in there
23:50And they're just talking to a microphone doing this
23:52That's true
23:52You have to like go like crazy and be like
23:54Do not even watch this show
23:56That's exactly right
23:57You will sound much better if you're really expressive
24:01So if I'm doing whiz
24:02I'm always sitting there
24:04I always go long and round
24:05Because that's how I try and get in there
24:07Long and round
24:08There you go
24:08And then I'll go
24:10Nooo
24:11You shouldn't be watching
24:12And I speak with my arms
24:14Like
24:14Wow, that's not entirely true
24:18That's right
24:19So be really expressive
24:20And if you're meant to be pulling something
24:22Like pulling a door
24:22We have rubber bands in there
24:24Like big rub
24:25And I go
24:25Yeah
24:27And so you can make all those sounds
24:29So enjoy it when you get in there
24:31Because you're very good at voices
24:33Next question is
24:34A whiz would normally lie to the audience
24:38In do not open this book
24:39And do not watch this show
24:41What is the biggest lie you have told
24:43And does it affect you to this day?
24:47Oh
24:50There are some lies I've told
24:52That I won't tell you today
24:53And I know we're meant to share everything
24:55Don't worry
24:55But they generally involve
25:00Holding a secret for someone else
25:03And someone that might have been in trouble
25:06And there are times that you can hold onto that for too long
25:10And then someone does the wrong thing
25:13Wow
25:13And so
25:15If someone is in trouble
25:18Sorry
25:20You don't always have to hold it on
25:21And pretend to everyone else that it's fine
25:28Do you want some tissues or anything Andy?
25:30Sorry one second
25:31Hang on
25:31The tissue girl is back again
25:33Oh well
25:33The tissue girl is back again
25:34Oh thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you
25:36Thank you thank you thank you
25:40This one used?
25:41Um no it's not used
25:42I'll get them second hand eh
25:46Hello Andy I'm Andrew
25:48Your book is titled
25:50Don't open this book
25:51Did it ever cross your mind that some kids
25:54Especially autistic kids
25:55Might literally follow instructions and never open it?
25:59Yes
26:00I have seen some children too scared to open it
26:03Yes
26:04Or they're just very obedient
26:05Um
26:07And then there's normally a teacher there
26:10Yes
26:10Or a parent that can help them and encourage them to take that risk
26:14Oh good
26:15But yes it's been a book that I didn't realise would resonate with people with autism as much as it
26:22has
26:22Yes
26:23I've had schools from all over the world reach out to me
26:26Autistic schools from all over the world reach out to me
26:28Saying that the book really resonates with the class
26:31Oh thank you Andy
26:32Thank you
26:33Dale
26:34You're next
26:35Hi Andy
26:36Hey Dale
26:36Good to meet you
26:37You and Hamish actually snuck into the Olympic Village in 2012 and got banned for life
26:42Which is pretty legendary
26:43If you could sneak into any global event today just for the jokes and banter
26:47Which event would it be and what would you do once inside?
26:49Ooh
26:51Oh wow
26:53I would have loved to get to the King's coronation
26:59Worn an uppity suit, maybe a top hat
27:02But the real question is what would you do inside?
27:04I would have had to use Wiz's voice I reckon just to kind of fit in
27:12I would have had a good time sniggering at people thinking they're more important than they are or something like
27:17that
27:18Awesome thank you
27:19Thank you Dale, do you want to pass along to Mitch?
27:21Um
27:23What were your original plans before becoming a comedian?
27:26I wanted to be an accountant
27:28Really?
27:31Yeah
27:31Wow
27:31So I love numbers
27:33I love spreadsheets
27:34Um
27:35And I love schedules
27:37Uh
27:37There was one incident Mitch that made me change my mind
27:40I was finishing year 12
27:43And I was going to do some accounting work for the good guys electrical company
27:47So I went and worked there
27:49And I spent three days cancelling cheques instead of presenting them accidentally
27:54Oh
27:55And I cancelled 80 million dollars worth of cheques
27:57Oh no
27:59And back then
28:01We only backed up our system once a week
28:04And it was for the whole company
28:07So they found out about lunchtime on a Wednesday
28:09Everyone at the company had to do all the work that they'd done for Monday, Tuesday and half of Wednesday
28:13again
28:14And I didn't feel great about that
28:16Oh
28:17I quit
28:18Oh no
28:18I went and had a summer which I probably should have been doing anyway
28:21And I went into university and changed it to marketing and brand management
28:25And somehow you landed in comedy
28:27That's right
28:28Yeah
28:28Alright
28:30Your mum had a near death experience
28:32Do you think your mum is a fighter and are you proud of her?
28:37Um
28:37Yeah my mum was given two weeks to live in 1996
28:40And she's still here
28:42So that's annoying
28:43Um
28:46You're like
28:46Gosh
28:48Uh
28:49It was
28:49It was tough
28:50It was a tough time
28:51I was 15
28:52My mum forgot how to walk
28:53How to talk
28:54Who we all were
28:55So every day after school I'd reintroduce myself
28:58Because she wouldn't even remember from the day before
29:00You know mum was the first to survive it in Australia
29:02Yeah cerebral vasculitis is the name of her
29:04Please
29:05Um
29:06And it's like a mini
29:07Mini strokes
29:08Um
29:09You can have it in the body but mum had it in the brain
29:11Oh
29:12Um
29:13When mum came back home
29:16That was hard because she got a culture shock
29:19I was
29:20I'm a mummy's boy still but I was a mummy's boy
29:22And she'd be making my lunch before I go to school and all these things
29:25And we'd all become self-sufficient
29:27And then mum was quite confused that we were just self-sufficient and then wanted to go back
29:33So she didn't want to live with us for a little bit
29:35I found that the hardest and I was angry with her
29:39Which it can be
29:40We've gone through all this and you don't even want to be with us
29:42But realising that that must have been such a shock to the system
29:46She doesn't really remember much of the four to six months she was in hospital
29:48So to go in and then just kind of been transported six months into the future with no recollection of
29:54what's happening around you
29:55That was the part that was tough for her and I understand that now
29:58But I found that the hardest part of it at the time
30:01So you reckon she's a fighter?
30:03She's absolutely a fighter
30:05Um
30:06I'm proud of mum and proud that she's still going
30:08That's great
30:09Thanks Andy
30:10Thanks Mitch
30:11Right
30:12Hi Andy my name's Daniel or Dan
30:15Hey Dan
30:15I love huskies
30:17And I rescued a husky called Spike
30:19Oh
30:19My question is
30:20Do you like huskies?
30:22And if you don't I hate you and bye get out of here
30:29Dan
30:30Yeah
30:30I've got bad news for you
30:32I love my fluffy dog
30:35But I've got a reason why
30:37Don't tell me you don't love that fluffy snow dog
30:39I've got
30:40I've got a reason why Dan
30:42So
30:42Because I'm a bit traumatised
30:44Okay
30:45Okay
30:45Yeah
30:46Hamish and I flew
30:48To
30:48A glacier
30:49In Alaska
30:51Okay
30:51And we met all
30:52The husky snow dogs
30:54Yeah
30:54And then Hamish's surprise
30:56Had bought me a suit
30:57Entirely made out of meat
30:59And he organised a race between me
31:03And twelve huskies
31:06So
31:07I was running through the snow as twelve huskies came for me
31:11I didn't make it to the finish line
31:12I didn't make it to the finish line and they all got me and ate me
31:16Alright thank you
31:17Thank you Daniel
31:18Ciao it's your turn
31:20Someone once said
31:21No one is just one thing right?
31:23That's true
31:25As being part of a very famous comedy duo
31:28How did you feel when you were boxed into being described to be the straight man of the two of
31:32us?
31:33Certainly I had my own worries about
31:36Do I exist without Hamish?
31:40When we're doing something so strong together
31:43And I think the world of the way he performs
31:46If I'm without him
31:49What am I?
31:50Am I good enough?
31:52We encouraged each other from a very early
31:55Very early on to go and do things individually
31:59And you'd learn from that
32:00And you'd come back and tell the other person
32:03But yeah
32:05I'd be lying to say that I wasn't nervous
32:09When I went out on my own to do my own things
32:14Because Hamish is a safety blanket
32:16I have to work much harder when I'm not around him
32:21Oh
32:22Regretting the leather pants
32:23Every time I go to move it's
32:24They look cool though
32:25So don't regret them
32:27Thank you so much
32:28Taking advantage of being Cleo's Bachelor of the Year
32:32Would you ever use your looks to star in a movie?
32:35Oh
32:36You know what?
32:38Thank you but that was 20 years ago
32:40So I think this has all changed a bit
32:42But um
32:43It's one of the main reasons I
32:45Write and create all my own things
32:47Because I tried out for lots of things
32:49And no one put me anything
32:51I found it hard to be picked
32:53You know I'd go for things
32:55And people thought there was a better option
32:58And so instead of continually going down that path
33:01And just hoping that I might get picked for something
33:05I just thought okay I'll try and take destiny into my own hands here
33:08And I'll write things and put myself in them
33:11And see how they float
33:12Yeah nice
33:13Yeah if they don't open up the doors for you
33:15Create your own house and doors
33:16That's exactly right
33:17So maybe I have to write my own film
33:19That's awesome, thank you so much
33:21Thomas
33:22So um
33:24So you spoke earlier about your mother's diagnosis
33:29But not just that
33:30There was also the possibility that you could have died when you were a baby
33:34After you were diagnosed with um
33:37Something
33:38Epiglottitis
33:39What was your reaction when you first learned about that?
33:44The story I heard from my dad
33:47Which was sad
33:48Was they were rushing to the hospital
33:52And uh
33:53And I couldn't breathe at all
33:56So I was going blue in the back
33:57And he got pulled over by the police
34:00And
34:01Dad said to the officer
34:02Hey look my son's dying
34:04Thinking that the policeman might help and give us away
34:09And the policeman said well he's not dead yet
34:12And went on to write up a ticket
34:14And so I loved us you know
34:17I'm all for our service people and the police and so on
34:19But this was a singular moment where I was like
34:21That's a shame that that happened
34:23And that was more troubling to think about
34:27Um
34:28And then
34:28I mean I was I think one
34:31But the other sad part of it was
34:33A lady up the road
34:35In the street we grew up in
34:36Her kid didn't make it, had the same thing
34:38And didn't make it
34:39So mum found it really difficult
34:41To be walking the pram with me
34:44And for a long time
34:45Just walked down the street instead of up
34:48So it's sad that these little things can happen
34:50I was very lucky
34:51But also being very mindful that lots of people aren't
34:54I see
34:57Thank you
34:58Alright
35:00Hello Andy I'm Pat nice to be here
35:02Nice to be here
35:03Now I've read a lot about your impressive Ravenswood mansion
35:08But as a bird enthusiast I'm curious to know
35:11What do you think of the ravens that live around Ravenswood?
35:14Oh I see the ravens, I'm fond of the ravens
35:16Not as fond of the pigeons
35:18They keep coming in and pooing all over the place
35:20Yes
35:20So I need to work that out
35:22We're working with regeneration environmentalists
35:25To get the right plants in
35:26And we're seeing birds already come back
35:28Which is incredible
35:29So hopefully the place is less about the house
35:34And more about the environment
35:36Once we all settle in there
35:38That's great, thank you
35:39And I'm glad you like the ravens
35:40Because most Australians don't
35:41You're probably the 2% that do
35:44No I like a raven
35:46Pat will you pass along to Evie?
35:48Yes
35:51Cartoons have had a huge impact on me
35:57They are like oxygen
36:00Since you have a cartoon show now
36:03I was wondering what are your favourite cartoons
36:06And did any of them have an influence on you?
36:09Oh
36:11Yes, great question
36:12I mean I loved The Simpsons
36:14Growing up
36:15Oh, good classics
36:17They're classic
36:18Roger Ramjet and Mighty Mouse
36:20When I was a lot littler
36:21Oh wow
36:22You know, all like
36:25Walt Disney
36:27The Sorcerer's Apprentice
36:30My favourite cartoon of all time
36:33Was Robin Hood
36:34Have you seen the one with all the
36:37Where the fox plays Robin Hood?
36:38Yay, I've seen that
36:39Yeah
36:40That was my favourite of all time
36:42I used to watch it over and over and over again
36:45I also did something for you
36:48Oh wow
36:49Oh, listen, Douglas
36:51Because I recently watched Do Not Watch This Show
36:54And it is literally everything I've loved about cartoons
36:57Just the wit and the writing and the animation
37:01And just the voice acting
37:02Just I love everything about it
37:04And I really want to be in the industry
37:07So I just wanted to show my love for it
37:10Oh Evie, that's fantastic
37:11Well we operate out of Melbourne
37:13But if you're ever down there
37:15Please reach out
37:16And I'll bring you into the studio
37:19And like what you've done here
37:22Everything is hand drawn
37:24So that's why it takes so long
37:26I didn't realise this
37:27I'm in heaven walking amongst them and seeing what they're doing
37:30So you have to come and visit
37:33Thanks Evie
37:34Silas
37:36Is there a question you've always wanted to ask somebody
37:38But never had the chance?
37:40Oh
37:42Yeah, generally those ones come to like
37:45I wish I'd asked my grandparents more things
37:48That's the one that sits with me
37:50You kind of end up being babysat by them
37:52And they just spoil you and it's all about you
37:55Which is great, that's what being a grandparent is about
37:58But when I look back I would have loved to have just showed an interest in them
38:01Rather than being all about me
38:04I do that with my parents now
38:05Just spend as much time in asking them the questions
38:08Yeah, thank you
38:10Thanks Silas
38:11James
38:11Hi Andy
38:13Hey James
38:13What is one trait you admire in others?
38:18I really admire people's courage
38:19And that's not when we talk about being in the front of an army
38:23You know, running into battle with a sword
38:25There's so many courageous things you can do
38:28And I think the main one for me is when people stand up for what they believe in
38:35Even when, and it could just be a singular moment where someone's saying something that's not quite right
38:40I do admire when people call that behaviour out in a pleasant way, not combative
38:45And just are really true to their beliefs
38:48I think that takes courage
38:50Well Andy, it was very courageous you coming on the show today
38:53So I admire the gusto
38:55Thank you, and gusto to you
38:59Okay, okay
39:00Andy, thank you so much for taking your time and coming on the show
39:05How ever
39:06Oh gosh
39:07Yeah, before you get your butt off the seat
39:11We have a little bit of a challenge for you
39:13We're gonna do a try not to react challenge right here, right now
39:19No laughing, no giggling, and no smiling
39:23I'm gonna find this so hard
39:26If you lose, you get nothing
39:27If you win, you also get nothing
39:32I didn't know the stakes would be this high
39:35James is gonna be going first
39:37Does Andy need his eyes shut or is he good?
39:39Uh, yeah, close your eyes Andy
39:41Okay, open
39:44Andy Lee, I don't know him
39:45I've never met him, but I hear he's not very talented
39:48You know, Hamish won all the gold
39:51I love the gold, but Andy, you know, I'm gonna check Fort Knox
39:54He's no talent, but I don't know him
39:59So far that is zero to Andy and one to the students of the assembly
40:04Okay
40:05Croaky guys, usually I'm out in the wild and I find live critters to show you
40:10But today, I've actually found a fossil
40:12Now this is
40:15And you can actually see here and tell his age by these lines in the fossil wings
40:23Well done
40:25Well done
40:25Oh, gosh
40:27Okay, now I think it's gonna get harder for you guys as it goes through
40:30Because now I'm understanding what I need to do
40:32Hmm, alright
40:47all right
40:49All right, I got wrong about it being harder
40:52What birds do you think those were?
40:54Oh, they were birds?
40:55Mm.
40:56Sheep is none that I want to meet.
40:57No!
41:00Baby Channel Bill Cuckoo.
41:01Okay.
41:01Baby Galar.
41:02Adult Australian Raven.
41:04Ah, yes.
41:05I had a picture of more of a teenage raven.
41:07Yeah, well done.
41:09They're pretty whiny, even when they're grown up.
41:12Um, Andy, close your eyes.
41:14Savannah's up next.
41:16Oh, my God!
41:21Please stand up for me.
41:33Oh, my God!
41:34You have been asked to open your eyes now, Andy.
41:42Do you want a carrot?
41:44A carrot?
41:45What?
41:52I absolutely loved it.
41:53Yay!
41:53Thanks, guys.
41:54Well done.
41:58Well done, Thomas.
42:00It was fantastic.
42:01So, yeah, if you do get down to Melbourne, come and visit, eh?
42:04Oh, yes.
42:04Awesome.
42:06You are hilarious.
42:08You are so great.
42:12It was one of the best days I've ever had in my life.
42:16Oh, yes.
42:16Oh, yes.
42:17You sit right next to me.
42:18Just here.
42:19No, no, no.
42:20Right there.
42:21Right there.
42:21Next to me.
42:22Right there.
42:23Right there, Andy.
42:24Right there.
42:25Look at the camera.
42:27The assembly.
42:28The assembly.
42:30The assembly.
42:31Thank you, Andy.
42:33I had a great time interviewing you.
42:35I had a great time.
42:35You guys are very good at interviewing.
