00:00Hey, this is Donis Gil with Technique Peek. In today's video, we're going to go over a little
00:04bit of a quick mobilization for your shoulder. You have those patients that tend to be kind of
00:10forward posture and like roll forward, especially those office working type patients that are just
00:15constantly in this position. A good mobilization I like to do with them obviously is getting them
00:20back into a proper position. This for us we call positional deficit, so that they're into that kind
00:25of bad posture position. You want to put them back in the optimal position so that your muscles have
00:29the proper leverage to move. So what I like to do with this is have them sit up as tall
00:34as you can.
00:36This gives you a little bit of space to get underneath the scapula here. You're going to
00:40guide the scapula into upper rotation while bringing that shoulder back and down. Essentially the same
00:48cueing that you give them when you're trying to cue them to open up their posture, but now you're
00:52helping them by mobilizing that scapula for them. What happens is when they're in that position for
00:59a prolonged period of time, that scapula starts to kind of sit and settle into position. So you want
01:05to help them out by giving them a little bit more of that mobilization to get that scapula in a
01:11more
01:13proper, centrated position for them to get better range of motion. There's other approaches that you
01:19can use to get that motion as well, but I like to do this one because this one gets right
01:24to the
01:25scapula itself. It helps to loosen it up at first and then you can get them moving through that.
