00:03There is the street-level narrative of the Marvel Universe that we've seen.
00:08There is the cosmic level which Thor and Guardians and the Avengers have taken us to.
00:15But there is a very important supernatural side to the Marvel comics.
00:19Doctor Strange is our perfect entry point into that.
00:22You need a spectacular actor to portray this character.
00:25And the fact that Benedict Cumberbatch has agreed to do this role is huge for us.
00:30Now we're at the stage where this universe, even within our world, is just about to explode into other dimensions.
00:35You've had Thanos, who's already sort of rumbled in the background a little bit.
00:38And I think Strange is a natural bridge between what we know of our perceivable reality and something well beyond
00:46that.
00:50Doctor Stephen Strange is an incredibly talented, incredibly arrogant neurosurgeon.
00:56Pretty early on, he is in a car accident that mangles his hands and effectively takes away his life as
01:02a neurosurgeon.
01:03You begin a spiral down for this character, who begins to spend all his money in search of a cure.
01:09And with his last dollar, he's given one more hint.
01:12And there ends up being one little doorway that does lead him into a place that is real.
01:17He meets the Ancient One, who begins helping him down the path of healing, but that turns into much more
01:25than the mere recovery of his body.
01:27You're a man looking at the world through a keyhole.
01:30You've spent your life trying to widen it.
01:32What if I told you that reality is one of many?
01:37The Doctor Strange story is a great cast of characters.
01:40Chief among them is Carl Mordo.
01:43Mordo certainly is the intro to Doctor Strange entering this universe.
01:47Mordo is very close with the Ancient One, played by Tilda Swinton.
01:51She deals in magic, in real, proper, inner magic.
01:55Together, both the Ancient One and Mordo, they sort of begin his training.
01:59There are other ways to save lives.
02:03So much you don't know.
02:07Teach me.
02:09He comes into this world where he crosses paths with Wong.
02:13He's kind of involved in the training of young disciples, getting them ready to protect against extra-dimensional forces.
02:24We're excited about villains in this film.
02:27We call them the Zealots.
02:28These are people who become seduced by what they find on the other side.
02:32Consider this as part of this temple, if the majority is looking for the truth here, he's looking over there
02:40for the truth.
02:41He is interested in spilling the barriers between these dimensions.
02:48We were filming in some of the most fantastic locations.
02:51The pull was amazing.
02:53Kathmandu is absolutely vital to this film.
02:56For me to be having my first outing as this man who's right at rock bottom, who's completely broken, looking
03:02for some answer in such a spiritual place was wonderful.
03:06The overall design of the film is remarkable, I think.
03:10Every single set is a reminder of how big a universe, film universe, you're part of.
03:13Every hero has a base of operations.
03:16Doctor Strange has the Sanctum Sanctorum in Greenwich Village.
03:19Inside, it is somewhat of a nexus between many different realities.
03:24Sanctum Sanctorum is utter magic.
03:27No pun intended.
03:31What you can expect from this Doctor Strange movie is a mind-trip action film.
03:43Might I offer you some advice?
03:45Forget everything that you think you know.
03:50We'll talk to this soon.
03:52We'll see you next time.
03:53See you next time.
03:54See you next time.
04:00See you next time.
04:01You
