00:00My favorite piece in my wardrobe,
00:02I think it might be these boots, actually.
00:04Yeah.
00:04I feel like you need like a staple pair of black boots.
00:08Where are they from?
00:09Vinted.
00:09Law.
00:13We're in Liverpool,
00:14and I know that you used to live here.
00:16I did.
00:16So how does it feel being back?
00:17So it feels like stepping a bit into the past.
00:20Yeah.
00:20You've obviously just released the new single,
00:22Cruel Worlds.
00:23It has this really upbeat tempo,
00:25paired with these lyrics that are quite deep
00:27and sad about missing someone
00:29and having someone absent from your life.
00:31What is your songwriting process
00:33and how do you navigate that when you're in the studio?
00:35Through the writing process of this album in particular,
00:38I kind of, I mean, I've had my first kind of experience
00:40of like love.
00:42I think through the writing,
00:43I came to this realization that love is like
00:45not kind of what you think it is as a kid.
00:48They have this kind of dichotomy of like pain and pleasure
00:51that exist within the same kind of confusing space.
00:55You've really leaned into this fairy tale, gothic energy.
00:58And it seems like a stark contrast from your old work.
01:01What inspired you to make that change and frame it in this way?
01:05I have had the chance to kind of go back home
01:08and we've been moving out of our childhood home,
01:11which I feel like has always been super like core to my music and who I am.
01:15Clearing away everything you've ever owned.
01:18Like you kind of rediscover all of these items that you used to like treasure as a kid.
01:22So my old ballet shoes and old books that I used to love, old movies.
01:25Is there an album or an artist that you listen to that's maybe unexpected that shaped who you are today?
01:33Kylie Minogue.
01:34I used to, I mean, still obsessed with her.
01:36Yeah, she's always an icon.
01:37Yeah, I feel like she was the first kind of female queen that I was just like loving her.
01:44You've had some really iconic fashion moments as a girl.
01:47What has been your favorite look that you've worn so far in this era?
01:50They've all been consistently like, what the hell? I can't believe I get to wear this.
01:55I think my favorite one would have to be the Vivienne Westwood.
01:58She's been an icon for me and my sisters and, you know, been so inspired by her in so many
02:03ways.
02:04Before you started singing, were you into fashion in this way or has this led you to this?
02:09I mean, I was always into clothes as well, you know, as a kid.
02:12I feel like my sisters and I used to just love charity shopping in Grantham, which was our local town.
02:19Local, kind of small, like crap, UK town to have the best shopping.
02:25It's like in the middle of Wales, I would find the best stuff.
02:27Not the city. Stay out of the city.
02:29There's nothing to be found in London.
02:31In one word, describe your new album.
02:35I'm going to say euphoric and fantasy and girly and fun.
02:42Sorry, that's four words.
02:43That was four words, but I'll take it. I'll take all I can get.
02:46I mean, thank you, girl.
02:47Honestly, you can't wait for the album to come out.
02:48I'm just looking forward to everything that you have to show us in the future.
02:53Bye.
02:53Bye.
02:54It's been so fun.
