Time flies, even for the boy who lived. In this video, we throw it back to a young Daniel Radcliffe's appearance on The Martha Stewart Show, where he discussed Martha's favorite Harry Potter character: Hedwig.
Transcript
00:00I really want to know about my favorite character, Ed.
00:03I bet you would never guess in a million years who my favorite character is, Hedwig.
00:07Oh.
00:09Has Hedwig been the same snowy owl since the very beginning?
00:13No.
00:13How many owls do you have?
00:15We've done four films now, so we probably have about three...
00:18Three owls.
00:19Because on the first two films we had was an owl called Gizmo.
00:22Yeah.
00:22Who was really cool.
00:23And the whole time Gizmo, there was another owl called Sprout.
00:25And the whole time Gizmo was on camera, Sprout would just be eyeing him with the most evil glare.
00:30He was like really jealous.
00:31He didn't damage him, did he?
00:33No, no, no, he didn't.
00:34But on the third film, luckily, you know, Sprout got his moment to shine.
00:38And then the fourth one, I don't know who it is.
00:40So, you know, they changed him pretty much.
00:41To play with them, I mean, do you really hold them?
00:43No.
00:44Are you afraid?
00:46The first owl, Gizmo was just really cool.
00:48They're very, you know, they're not...
00:50They're dangerous.
00:51Only, you know, only if you're a mouse.
00:53If you're a mouse.
00:55I mean...
00:55I have held an owl, and they are.
00:57They have very sharp beaks, and they are very fast, and they are beautiful.
01:01They are.
01:01They are.
01:02Particularly snowy owls, it has to be said.
01:04But there's...
01:04Owls sort of have this reputation for being, you know, very, very wise and very, very clever.
01:08And they're not, really.
01:10Sort of...
01:11But it takes a long, long time to teach them just to fly from one place to another place.
01:16Well, they're wild animals.
01:17They don't want to...
01:18They don't want to be actors.
01:19I know.
01:20Well, then they're in the wrong business.
01:21Frankly.
01:22Oh, no.
