North Korea and Russia are moving to open a new road bridge across the Tumen River, aimed at boosting trade and cross-border movement.

00:05as the two countries deepen strategic ties and look to boost trade, tourism and cultural exchanges.
00:11The project, which began about a year ago, was agreed during President Vladimir Putin's visit to Pyongyang in 2024,
00:17and will link North Korea directly to Russia's highway network.
00:25The 850-meter bridge across the Tumen River is expected to handle up to 300 vehicles a day
00:32and significantly cut travel time between Vladivostok and the North Korean city of Rassan.
00:38The Russian embassy in Pyongyang says the bridge is set to be completed on June 19.
00:43The update comes as Moscow and Pyongyang continue to strengthen ties
00:47under a comprehensive strategic partnership agreed last year.
00:51The deal includes a mutual defense clause.
00:54South Korea and Western allies say it has seen Pyongyang send more than 14,000 troops
