00:05A welcome ceremony was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where Mozambican
00:10President Daniel Chappell was greeted with a guard of honor and a 21-gun salute. During
00:16their talks, the two heads of state agreed to elevate bilateral relations to a China-Mozambique
00:22community with a shared future for the new era. President Xi Jinping noted the traditional
00:27friendship between China and Mozambique has long served as a model for China-Africa relations
00:33and South-South cooperation. He noted that deepening bilateral cooperation meets the
00:39shared expectations of both peoples and aligns with a broader trend of greater solidarity among
00:44global South countries. China stands ready to work with Mozambique to pursue modernization together,
00:50building on the outcomes of the Beijing summits at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation,
00:55as well as the 2026 China-Africa year of people-to-people exchanges. He called for
01:01continued mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests and for expanded
01:06cooperation in areas including infrastructure, energy and mineral resources, agriculture and the
01:13digital economy to achieve high quality and sustainable development. Xi also stressed that over the 70 years
01:20since the establishment of China-Africa diplomatic relations, the two sides have always stood together
01:26through thick and thin and moved forward side by side, regardless of changes in the international
01:32landscape. China is ready to work with African countries to jointly address challenges, promote
01:38peace and pursue development. He outlined three proposals. First, upholding the principles to promote
01:45peace by calling for a ceasefire in the Middle East and resolving differences through equal dialogue,
01:51while practicing true multilateralism and safeguarding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
01:57Second, maintaining focus on development. As China continues to expand high-level opening up and
02:04places Africa in a position of special priority, including implementing zero-tariff treatment for 53 African
02:11countries with diplomatic ties starting May 1 and expanding access for African exports to China through
02:18measures such as upgraded green channels. And third, pursuing women cooperation by tapping potential,
02:25strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation, supporting Africa's development and building an all-weather
02:31China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era. President Chappell said he was pleased to be
02:37the first African head of state to pay a state visit to China this year. He reaffirmed Mozambique's
02:43strong commitment to the one-China principle and expressed appreciation for China's long-standing support.
02:49He said China's development achievements have set an example for the global south and voiced readiness to
02:55deepen cooperation across various sectors and jointly build a community with a shared future.
03:00Following the talks, the two sides signed multiple cooperation agreements covering the Belt and Road Initiative,
03:06trade and people-to-people exchanges.
