00:00I was not there, but from television, shots of the crowd outside,
00:06also taking you back to almost 20 years ago, I think it's 10 out of 10.
00:11You know, I think that that crowd, if you look at the fans,
00:15I mean, if you can hear them even better,
00:17but look at the fans after Samuelson's goal,
00:22and it's just bedlam scenes in there.
00:25I saw a few different versions of this,
00:28and I think the one I saw the most repeatedly was shot by Spencer Brown in the crowd.
00:35The Bills?
00:36Yeah, of the Bills.
00:38I know this.
00:40He and a few teammates, I saw McGovern and I saw Shakir,
00:46were riding around in the Zamboni at one point,
00:48and I'm pretty sure I saw Spencer Brown's handle on this video
00:54that is from, like, the opposite corner of where the goal was scored.
00:59And, yeah, the arena, it just looks like strangers hugging strangers, basically.
01:04It just exuberance everywhere you look.
01:07Hands on faces.
01:09People just absolutely, like, cannot believe.
01:11There's, you know, everybody's different, right?
01:14There's a couple of people that I see, I've watched it enough times,
01:18that are just, they're not doing anything, they're frozen.
01:22They're just staring at it like,
01:26I can't believe that just happened.
01:27Like, that's that expression, I'm pretty sure.
01:29It's dumbfounded that this is happening.
01:33I'm here for this.
01:35It would have been impossible, like, almost impossible to resist
01:41interacting with the people around you physically.
01:44Right, right.
01:44I mean, that's not my style.
01:46But on this one?
01:47Right.
01:48In those playoff runs from before, it was my wife and I,
01:52and there was some of that.
01:53It's mostly she and I.
01:54There's one where you pick her up, isn't there?
01:56Dumont.
01:57Right.
01:58Which she did say recently is her favorite ever saver's memory.
02:01Well, I think you have something to do with that.
02:03Dumont, game three.
02:04Yep.
02:06So, just undeniable.
02:09And I think we've all enjoyed since Sunday night feedback from friends
02:17in faraway places who watched the game and felt it.
02:20And some have saber ties from growing up here and some don't.
02:24I mentioned yesterday my friend Jacob Sanderson,
02:27through ADP Chasing, our podcast, lives in Vancouver and is a Leafs fan.
02:31And he's like, Mike, look at that place.
02:35Are you in there?
02:36Like, they want to know, are you in there?
02:37Right.
02:38I'm like, no, I'm safe.
02:39Right.
02:41I'm safe.
02:42I'm out here.
02:43I'm safe.
02:43I'm marked safe from exciting, you know, insane hockey moments.
02:49But Sal and I talked about that yesterday, too.
02:50He was at the game and was hearing from colleagues around the NFL talking about just like, wow.
02:57The ESPN play-by-play announcer, whose name is Monaco.
03:01Mike Monaco, yeah.
03:02Tweeted that he had never been to a sporting event with a better atmosphere than game one.
03:07He's a pretty young-looking man.
03:10I don't know his age.
03:11I don't know his career real well.
03:13But still, right.
03:15He looks young.
03:18But, yeah, it was, there was, you know, on the way out to Montana, there wasn't much
03:25reaction to the, I had a Sabres hat on the whole, most of the trip, right?
03:29The travel especially.
03:31Um, yesterday, leaving Montana, in the Montana airport, because the game was Sunday night,
03:38I got, you know, you get people traveling, whatever.
03:41So, it's not like they were Montana locals necessarily.
03:43But I got a few, you know, the, you know, go Bills, go Bills, go Bills is so ubiquitous
03:48now.
03:48I got that with the Sabres hat yesterday.
03:50And then we spent an hour in Chicago, you know, at the airport.
03:54Uh, and there was a lot of that.
03:57Like, you know, people see the, hey, good, great game last night.
04:00Go Sabres, you know.
04:01Friends, and podcast hosts, and announcers, and Matthew Kachuk.
04:06And strangers in airports.
04:07And airport strangers, they're all.
04:09Everyone's in.
04:11Talking about what that looked and sounded and felt like.
04:14Here's AJ next.
04:15Hello.
04:17Hey, how's it going?
04:18Good.
04:19I was, uh, I was at the game on Sunday.
04:22Uh, I'm much like, uh, Mike.
04:25I'm not really a, uh, celebrate with all the people around me guy.
04:28I, I'll flap hands with my buddy next to me.
04:30Maybe the person's on the other side of me, but it was like bedlam in there, especially
04:35after the third goal, obviously.
04:38But it came so close to the second goal that they had just literally just got done announcing,
04:46uh, cage, the second goal.
04:48And they, and Sammy scores and, uh, like, it was like madness.
04:52Like people jumping into each other's arms.
04:54And they, it was, it was unbelievable.
04:56A few of the replays I watched of that without announcer sound on it.
05:01So just the natural sound in the building.
05:03You could, yeah.
05:04The goal announcement is going on is Quinn is making the pass to Samuelson.
05:10There's the, can I get a hell?
05:11Yeah.
05:12I think from, is that stone cold Boston, right?
05:15Can I get a hell?
05:15Yeah.
05:16And the fans answer hell yeah.
05:18As Samuelson has content creators video and it captured the whole thing.
05:24And it was just for my, my sister asked me yesterday, what was it like being in there?
05:28And I censored that video and said, this is about as, as well as I can sum it up.
05:32It was just madness.
05:34Very cool.
05:35Thanks for sharing that.
05:36Yeah.
05:36They don't announce goals during stoppages anymore because they've got to show other
05:40stuff, I guess.
05:42So all the goal announcements, even the Boston goal, even those come during the play almost
05:47without exception.
05:48If you like, I mean, I know Jeremy's big on this and I like the, the crowd pop, right?
05:53Like the, the, if you get the, you hear the crowd just a fraction of a second before the
05:59horn, even, I feel like this is an impure example of that because the crowd is
06:04making noise, but they're answering something that has been said already.
06:09I'm not saying they wouldn't have been ready to blow anything, you know, the, you know,
06:13the place was going crazy even without the hell yeah, they're probably reacting to that
06:19pass and popping, but it was enhanced.
06:22It was chemically enhanced by, you know, I'm going to answer the hell yeah.
06:26And like, hell yeah.
06:27And then the goal is in and it's, you know, just insanity.
06:30Yeah.
06:30Uh, like don't against Tampa for eight, seven, kind of like that.
06:34It looked in bigger, but still, uh, reminded me of that.
06:39Rob is next.
06:40Hi, Rob.
06:41Hey, Mike.
06:42Uh, Bulldog.
06:44Welcome back.
06:44I'm glad you had a great time.
06:46Thanks bud.
06:46Always a pleasure talking to you guys.
06:48Um, you know, from a blind perspective, um, visually challenged, I had WGR five 50 on Sunday and I
06:58had, uh, Alexa on as loud as possible.
07:01And it was something to totally appreciate during the whole game.
07:08Um, um, just the sound of the game, the sound of the crowd, um, complete chaos, uh, the chills,
07:16especially when we, uh, scored the three goals.
07:20It's just, you know, it's something to take in when you can't visually see it, but it was
07:27unbelievable.
07:27And I'm looking forward to tonight and I love listening to you guys.
07:31So, uh, thank you.
07:33Thank you, Rob.
07:34Enjoy the game.
07:35Here's Tom next.
07:36Hi, Tom.
07:38Hi guys.
07:39How are you doing today?
07:40Good, Tom.
07:42Hey, I just wanted to talk about being at the game the other night.
07:45It's over a lifetime.
07:47Uh, my wife's never experienced a playoff game and the atmosphere was incredible.
07:54We, we started early.
07:55We started at noon at Hoffer house.
07:57So it was a long day, but, uh, anyway, the crowd, I don't know if you guys seen the video.
08:04There was a video, you guys were talking about fans touching each other's faces and stuff
08:09like that.
08:10And, uh, there's a video out there of a guy jumping in a big guy's arm.
08:16Like he jumped from a seat and the guy caught him and they were sitting there just bouncing
08:20him up and down for like, I don't know.
08:22It seemed like five, 10 seconds.
08:24Yeah.
08:25But, but I mean, the place was, the place was rocked.
08:28It was great.
08:29I've never experienced anything like that.
08:31And I went there game seven at, uh, Carolina at Oh six.
08:36That was totally a different thing, but anyway, totally excited, totally pumped.
08:42Uh, let's go Sabres.
08:43And lucky we got our one game in cause we bought season tickets.
08:46So we were able to get one, one game in a kind of like a decent price and I will
08:52be sitting
08:52at our house watching them.
08:54All right.
08:55Thanks Tom.
08:56I'm glad you, I'm glad you got to experience that.
08:58Anybody out there that went, went, went through that.
09:01I mean, just what a, what a, what a time to be in there.
09:05Just fantastic.
09:07Absolutely.
09:08Mike show up in the bulldog here.
09:09Paul Hamilton at six pregame six 30.
09:12This is WG.
