02:46game four which was over early how did they how did they do it i mentioned earlier i was listening
02:52to the boston broadcast for a stretch and they were somewhat incredulous to just how mistake prone
02:59the bruins were and one of the announcers said at one point you know florida does this to you but
03:04florida forces you into these mistakes and he was kind of saying there that the sabers really didn't
03:09do as much of that so i don't know yeah the sabers did a lot of that uh it was
03:14because well first of
03:15all the sabers stopped putting the puck where swayman could get to it swayman was acting like
03:19a third defenseman and it was killing him they were getting it out of the zone quickly they got pucks
03:24where swayman couldn't get there now they can use their speed to get in there speed to get it on
03:28the
03:28boston defense so every time the boston defense went to try to do something there was one or two
03:33sabers immediately there every single time and that happened right off the opening face-off so
03:39the bruin defense you could see and they panic so what was their panic move up in the air with
03:43the
03:43puck and then the sabers defense dalin in particular were standing up at the blue line knocking the puck
03:49down and then finding wingers or whatever to get the four check going again or if they had to they'd
03:54knock it down at the red line and again the guys would come out they'd circle hit them and they're
03:58right back into the zone again but that just kept happening and happening where the bruin defense
04:03just panicked almost all the time and look at all the goal the four goals the sabers scored in the
04:08first period all but one of them were just egregious turnovers that the sabers produced by being on
04:15them yeah i think you know second time you brought up this the radio and now analyst it's bob beers

04:27second time is him mentioning florida like that is i think just there's different ways to be a pain

04:45they're just on you speed and just forcing you into mistakes um in a different way i mean it's physical
04:52but it's not as traditionally physical as a team like florida who just is absolutely going to punish
04:57you at every turn oh absolutely it's and the bruins all the only way they can win the game is

05:04can turn it around and get on the buffalo defense i mean lindy talked about well yeah we they can

05:09bring an extra guy into the rush sabers would love that because now you're playing saber hockey
05:15if you start doing that it's going to get into a back and forth race and the sabers will win

05:19every time with the boston bruins so the sabers would love it if the bruins did that it's not

05:44power play they're doing it with dolly not being their best defenseman uh they're doing it when you
05:51if i would have said before the series dolly's not playing real well they have no power play goals
05:55you would probably wouldn't be sitting here telling me that the sabers are up three games to one and
06:00outscored the bruins nine to two in their building well let's talk about byram then because you're
06:06going to tell you think that he would be the choice to be their best defenseman in the series i'm

06:10we talked about him earlier and just you know i i needed a long time to get comfortable with him
06:16but not to take credit away from him this year samuelson the way i would describe it emerging like
06:24this and just sort of locking in with dolly and sort of maybe that takes pressure off and you've got
06:30a first overall pick anyway in power who has been a good fit with him and then you end up
06:35with
06:35two units that you really don't even have to worry about um just i'm not on the inside like yourself
06:42what how do you describe byram's uh path here as a saber i agree with you i mean first it's

06:49and dolly and samuelson came a long way this year absolutely to to become it many nights their best
06:56defenseman byram what he and power have done is elevated their games now that that the playoffs have
07:02started just like he did in colorado i mentioned to you i know that you know in his rookie year

07:07i'm watching him in stanley cup finals and go wow look at bo byram i was thoroughly impressed with
07:12the way he was playing but he elevated his game there too so he's done it twice now where you

07:17he's done that and i not only their best defenseman i think if i were taking a four game mvp

07:24bo byram right now both defensively offensively penalty killing the whole package that he and power have
07:31come up with and power i think really really has improved as this season has gone on and we're
07:37seeing it here in his first ever playoff appearance paul how hard a decision if it was hard at all

08:40overall how about peyton krebs in the same vein as the question about byram paul he's somebody else
08:45that you're not you know messing with either oh absolutely not and i you don't hear me mention it
08:50very often but since it's so far out of whack byram and krebs lead the nhl at plus seven
08:58you know and and the bruins are like in major minuses mcavoy pasternak and those guys and as i
09:06said that's the only reason i bring it up because plus minus to me is one of the lesser stats

09:18byram and with power is plus six and tuck i think is plus six you you get those all those

09:23together i think it really is showing how they're playing it really is something krebs i think you

09:35oslin coming back but you know i'm talking before the playoffs right like what am i doing with my
09:40lineup well and probably move benson up to the top line and put oslin in with doan and norris and
09:48krebs skin center the fourth line i guess like that that's me two weeks ago now it's just like
09:54don't you dare touch peyton krebs um it really is something how how a guy some guys just you know

10:07there now i mean he has been everywhere in this lineup and he's been asked to do every job
10:13except for the one that he probably at the age of 18 when he was drafted thought he was going

10:18doing in the nhl which is producing offense and being a top six forward and here he is guys i

10:24know if you agree i think it's simply the kid has gotten his confidence back offensively i think
10:30with the jobs he was asked to do maybe he lost some of his confidence that he had before he

10:35drafted in an offensive vein and he has just clicked with tuck and thompson or sometimes it
10:41was donan thompson but he just seems to have settled in there re-found his offensive game
10:47and is is not as dangerous as those guys but every bit as important i think would be the word
10:55to that line as those guys are well it's um it hasn't happened that many times certainly in the
11:03you know last couple of decades where the sabers have clinched the playoff series at home it hasn't
11:07happened at all since 2007 before that 2001 don't have to tell you what it means and also just how
11:14wired the fans are for this i'm old enough to remember when they used to clinch series on a
11:18fairly regular basis it was a while ago if you're i'm not if you're 20 years i know if you're

11:26old or 20 to 22 years old you have no idea what we're talking about here unless you just opened

11:31history book right or your computer and you also probably don't know how rare it is for a buffalo
11:38team a buffalo sabers team to go into boston and just punk them i mean even in the regular season

11:52the playoff history you know there's some in the high scoring 80s there there were some pretty wild
11:56scores um but like i don't know like i just never as much as i wanted the sabers to play

12:03this series i never imagined a game that would feel like the closeout game in 2001 against philly
12:10and that's basically what sunday felt like it was a very similar time like i got this i'm home free
12:16and that's just not something i'm conditioned as a buffalo fan to expect going to boston especially
12:22well the sabers i think have taken two of the last three series against the bruins but i believe
12:27that's the only two series they've won against them i think that's right the bruins have six wins and
12:31the sabers have two right 93 99 four of their 10 occasions a clinch playoff series at home any round
12:39were before 1984 i remember 83 barely not the three in the 70s but then you had four in the

12:47two in the 99 run 0-1 philadelphia and then the islanders which was not even that for me
12:56satisfying because that was supposed to be easier and i also was uh frustratedly
13:03roaming outside trying to meet up with people that were not uh replying to my
13:08back in the day when you had to stand outside and wait in line for tickets remember that
13:13when you had to put your tents and stay out there for a day or two i don't tickets i

13:18the bills those were days a couple times with the bills uh dabbling in some of that so all right
