Seth and Sean discuss Kevin Durant possibly being able to return to action for the Rockets in game 2 tonight in LA.
Transcript
00:00Here's Sham Sharanya, possible Rudy Poot, updating us on Kevin Durant's injury for a leading into
00:06tonight's game in Los Angeles. Kevin Durant's status for game two is up in the air and my
00:12understanding is Kevin Durant is dealing with a deep bruise in his right patellar tendon that
00:18he suffered last Wednesday during a practice drill when he was chasing after a loose ball
00:24and collided that knee with a teammate and that has since caused swelling pain. It's impacted his
00:31range of motion in the leg as well and for Kevin Durant to miss a playoff game that speaks to
00:37the
00:37severity of the injury in and of itself and the Rockets they're optimistic that Kevin Durant is
00:42going to be able to return as soon as game two but it remains to be seen just depending on
00:47how
00:47that knee that leg responds to this deep bruise in the patellar tendon. And the official announcement
00:52from the Rockets yesterday, Seth, because that was just Shams giving his report, is game time
00:57decision for Kevin Durant. So I would imagine he's going to go out tonight like he did on Saturday
01:02night and go through a bunch of different drills, shoot the ball, see how it feels, and then hopefully
01:08play in the game. And I was nervous when I first heard patellar tendon bruise because obviously a lot
01:14of things can go wrong with a basketball player and his beloved patellar tendons, especially when
01:19they're approaching 40. You, as you threw shade at me in the last segment and talk about an actual
01:25doctor who weighs on this, instead of a Rudy Poot doctor like myself, Dr. Chow from Sports Injury
01:32Central, he's a lot more optimistic than I was about it. KD for Houston, I believe is playing Tuesday.
01:41KD, bet the house, will return to play before Luka does. If you're not sure about KD and if he's
01:50returning to play, and there's rumors of Luka maybe trying to play game three, bet the house that KD
01:58plays before Luka. I think KD has a very good chance. He just banged knees. He looked good in warmup
02:05of
02:05playing game two for the Rockets at the Lakers. I think Luka's target is round two, because as we
02:16talked about, one game too early aggravated, then he's out the rest of the playoffs kind of situation.
02:24I think the Lakers are going to need to try and get by Houston without Luka. Austin Reeves beats him
02:29back is our prediction. Okay, so that last one was interesting. Reeves getting back before Luka.
02:35I would be, you know, his whole bet the house thing that KD's back before Luka, that doesn't
02:40feel like a super, you know, going out on a limb, bold bet, right? I mean, what?
02:46I just think, I can't believe that as we've been going through this thing with Donchich and his
02:55hamstring, that we haven't played, what's his name's clip about the hamstrings aren't that
03:01important to a point guard? Oh, Perloff. Perloff. You've got to play Andrew Perloff.
03:06Yeah, I want to do that. Yeah. Like last year, Andrew Perloff had one of the worst takes of all
03:11time when he went on at length talking about how a hamstring isn't all that important for a point
03:16guard. It was the second longest take a mania champ of all time behind Cataldi.
03:21It's one of the best. It's the most, it's the densest one in terms of bad takes per second.
03:28Oh, he was on like a bad take every seven seconds. He was like a James Harden 60 point triple
03:34double.
03:35Yeah. Take. Oh, yeah. And it's amazing. So he must be amazed that Luka Donchich is being held
03:39out of the playoffs with a hamstring injury. Yeah, he must be. He must be. Um, so, so, uh, KD,
03:47Dr. Chow seems pretty positive about it tonight, Seth, but Katie's going to play. Rockets are a
03:51five point favorite tonight. Either way, whether he plays or not, they're a five point favorite right
03:56now. Yeah. And this is where we were kind of looking side-eyed at all of these extra long
04:00breaks between games in this series, feeling like it gave an advantage to LeBron James. Uh, but man,
04:06the Rockets are going to end up being the beneficiary of it more likely than the Lakers. If Kevin
04:11Durant can come back in, especially if he has a big game too. Yes. You know, if, uh, if it
04:15was
04:16something that it, that one day's difference, kind of like CJ Stroud coming back from his concussion
04:21because that third game was a Thursday night game, there's a really good chance that he would
04:25have played if it was a normal Sunday game, but it was just, it was just still too compressed.
04:29Yep. Yep. So, uh, yeah. Adam Silver for president of the universe for putting this lengthy schedule
04:35together for this series and letting Kevin Durant, uh, get well. So yeah, that game's tonight at nine 30.
04:41I don't, I'm curious how people are handling this thing tonight, especially people. This is
04:45probably not the right audience to ask. Probably should have asked a six o'clock audience, but man,
04:49I, I don't nap during the day, Seth. Yeah. But we've got this five, 10 Astros game, which if history
04:56holds true with any Astros game this year, it'll probably be at least a three hour game. Cause
05:00there'll be a bunch of runs scored. But even then, if the game ends at eight 15, let's say,
05:05let's say it's a three hour and five minute game. That's still another, I mean, hour and a half
05:10conservatively until the Rockets game starts. It says nine 30, but these things never start on
05:15time. Yeah. Um, I don't know. Do I nap during the day? Do I nap in between? Do I just
05:21say,
05:21screw it and just watch it all the way through? What do I do? You've agreed to read a book
05:26that
05:26I recommend. Yeah. Um, it, because you haven't read a full book in a long time. It might be perfect.
05:31If you started it this afternoon as you're laying on the couch and maybe you'll fall asleep.
05:36Okay. Are you looking for something? I'm thinking, I'm trying to find something maybe short that you
05:42could, you know, warm yourself up with. Do you, do you have any preference for fiction or nonfiction?
05:47Uh, I'm more of a nonfiction guy. We might start off super simple and something that would, uh,
05:52uh, maybe almost be nostalgic for you because you started off in sales. Okay.
05:57I, and this is a quick read. Okay.
06:00And it's a classic sales guide book, the coffee bean. No, no, no, no. That's too quick. That's
06:06a pamphlet. Uh, what about, what have we just started off with the art of war?
06:10Oh, by son to zoo. Yeah. Yeah. That's how Polly Walnuts pronounces it. Son to zoo.
06:15Yeah. Yeah. Is you, because you like, because you are a sales guy and because you're a mob movie
06:22guy or a crime movie guy. Yeah. Like, let's start you off with that. Okay. Okay. Art of war.
06:27I need to read the art of war. Okay. And do it today.
06:30That's not deep or heavy or anything, but it's philosophical and strategic and all that. Yeah.
06:35Okay. And then I'm going to move you on and do a sports book of some sort.
06:38That's that'd be beautiful. I would love that. Okay. You're working me. And then eventually I
06:42want to get into different realms though, man, but I like that you're easing me in.
06:47Yeah. I'll get into you to like, I don't know how much of an appetite, like some of the pop
06:50science type stuff that I read, I think you might really be into, but I'll try to, I'll ease you
06:56into it.
06:57I'm here. And yeah, I'm here to try. I'm here to try. Okay. Art of war. Art of war is
07:02good. It's
07:02short. It's, it's, uh, it'll, I think it'll scratch your former sales guy. It's okay. Yeah. And
07:08am I going to give a book report on these books? Yeah, we'll do that. Yeah. I'll do it. No,
07:12no, you're going to, no, you're going to be annoying. You're going to start dropping,
07:15you know, Seth, I was reading the art of war yesterday and it occurred to me, one thing that
07:21D'Amico doesn't understand about strategic planning. Sun Tzu did. Yeah. If your opponent
07:26is angry, irritate. That's a, yeah. Uh, I remember that cause it was quoted by, uh, bud Fox in
07:33Wall Street.
07:34Wow.
