00:00Subscribers of Maynilad's Water Utility Services in Parañaque, Montenlupa, Las Piñas, Nimbagoor, and Imoscavite have this piece of refreshing news
00:09to soak in.
00:10Roughly 330 pesos in either rebates or a discounted bill statement will be afforded them as a result of fines
00:17meted out by the MWSS on the water concessionaire
00:21for failure to provide uninterrupted and adequately pressurized water supply in the aforementioned service areas.
00:27This report.
00:31The Metropolitan Manila Works and Sewerage System Regulatory Office has once again fined Maynilad Water Services.
00:37According to the MWSS, the company failed to provide 24-7 water supply in the month of March.
00:44More than 54 million pesos in financial penalties were imposed on Maynilad through rebates.
00:49As a result, 168,000 consumers in Las Piñas City, Montenlupa City, Parañaque City, Imos City, and Bacoor City will
00:57receive around 328 pesos in refunds this May.
01:01This is the second consecutive month that Maynilad customers will receive rebates after a refund was also implemented in April
01:08due to the same violation of the water concession agreement.
01:13Maynilad has committed to comply with the decision of the MWSS.
01:16According to the concessionaire, the water service interruptions were caused by poor raw water quality from Laguna Lake due to
01:24the Northeast monsoon.
01:25This resulted in longer treatment time and lower production.
01:28The company says it will implement additional measures to stabilize supply and improve service in affected areas.
01:35Amid the hot season, the National Water Resources Board assured that water supply this April and the coming May is
01:41sufficient source from Angat Dam.
01:43More than 90% of Metro Manila's water supply comes from the Angat Dam.
01:47Amid the threat of El Nino, the NWRB is studying a reduction in water allocation for the agricultural sector to
01:53prioritize the needs of consumers.
02:26The agency is urging the public to conserve water.
02:29A senior citizen, Nick, from Barangay 537 in Manila says he is already doing this as rising prices force households
02:36to be more resourceful.
02:38Yung mga ginamitamin tubig, yun na pinagdidilig namin ng halaman. Yung mga ibang pinagugasan ng kanin, ng bigas, pinagdidilig namin
02:48ng halaman.
02:48This is Sharm Zespina for the National TV Network for a new and better Philippines.
