Apple has named John Ternus as its new chief executive, replacing Tim Cook starting September 1.

00:00Tech giant Apple has announced John Turners as its new chief executive.
00:05He will take over the role on September 1st, replacing Tim Cook, who's stepping down after 15 years of leading
00:11the firm.
00:14Turners emerged as favorite to replace Cook last year, after Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams left the company.
00:21The current head of hardware engineering, Turners has been with Apple for 25 years.
00:25He has worked on most major products under the company, including every generation of the iPad, as well as the
00:32launch of AirPods and the Apple Watch.
00:34He also oversaw the transition of Mac computer processors from Intel to its own processors, known as Apple Silicon.
00:42Meanwhile, Cook is expected to stay on throughout the summer to work with Turners on the transition, after which he
00:48will become executive chairman.
