00:00This is great. This is every day on stage, you know, tightrope act, holding each other up.
00:06You know, that's that thing. When you go out there on Broadway, once them lights come on, that's it. You
00:10gotta go.
00:10I was gonna ask, what is that feeling like? Because, of course, you've been acting for so long,
00:17so the acting part of it is not a shock to you, but live Broadway where you're like, okay, we're
00:22out there,
00:23and then there's no stopping, and it's just kind of going.
00:25That's really it. And then you got the words, you got the words of this amazing playwright, you know, August
00:29Wilson, legendary playwright,
00:32so many great plays, Fences and Seven Guitars and, you know, Ma Ramey and all these great plays that people,
00:38you know, know.
00:39And you gotta go out there and know that you gotta say those words, you don't get to ad-lib.
00:44As a comedian...
00:45That must be hard for you, yeah.
00:48I've slipped a couple of times. I'm out there. I slid a couple of curse words in.
00:53Okay. And you just got off stage, you're like, my bad guy, sorry.
00:56Yeah, okay. I got it next time.
00:59What was it like preparing for this show? I feel like, I mean, were you prepared for how grueling it
01:04was gonna be?
01:05No, you know, that was a different thing, because I literally left the neighborhood, my show that I had for
01:10eight seasons.
01:11I left that on a Tuesday and reported here Sunday.
01:15So I was, like, straight to work, and I felt behind, because it was a lot of, you know, we
01:22got some great, you know, Ruben Santiago Hudson, Joshua Bull,
01:26great Broadway actors in the play that were seen to be really well prepared and studied, and, you know, and
01:34I came in like,
01:35ah, man, I'm used to taking a break after every line, you know, like, who grabs my coffee for me?
01:41All this Broadway life, like, bro, you got to do all that on your own.
01:44Damn.
01:45I think the spirit of being on a team like that, though, like, when you're in, like, in a place
01:50where you're kind of building, like, a championship team,
01:52and you go to work, you practice, you're all together, you eat lunch, you hang out, you start to build
01:58what is, what feels like, you know,
02:01you know, what I'd imagine being on a championship team, like, you know, where we're all here together,
02:06we all trying to build something, and the win is for the group, you know what I'm saying?
