00:12I feel like I look back on the last 20 years and it feels like I'm looking at different people along the way.

00:42Your early stuff, when you listen back to it, you cringe, but do you enjoy it?
00:47Can you appreciate it?
00:48I can appreciate it and I can respect it.
00:50I think what makes me cringe the most is when I hear me trying to be somebody else.
00:58Or at least I can hear it in my voice.
01:00And it was the early stages and I'm like, oh, I can see who I was trying to sound like

01:07Or I can see the uncertainty there or hear it.
01:10Was that from you trying to figure out and still decide who you wanted to be or who you
01:14truly are as an artist?
01:15Or was that kind of from outside noise saying, hey, this would be good to do?
01:18I think it was an involuntary act.
01:21I can do this with other artists too and go back and listen to their earlier work and
01:25go, oh, they were still trying to figure it out there.
01:29And I think your earlier work is always going to sound closest to your influences because
01:34you haven't had a chance to go out on tour and really develop your thing that just comes
01:41with repetition.
01:43When I went into my second album, I was like, oh, that's me.
01:47That sounds like my voice now.
01:49And I've kind of even still evolved since then over time and just with different songs
02:00and different styles and what that brings out in my voice.
02:03But the first record for sure, I go back and I'm like, oh, yeah, I was definitely still figuring
02:11it out.
