00:01Viva Energy provided an update regarding the major blaze that occurred behind me across
00:06the bay at their refinery here in Geelong.
00:09The update itself included a couple of things.
00:11The first was a recovery timeline regarding fuel production and also some more minor details
00:16around the fire itself, including confirming that it occurred in the alkylation unit of
00:21their gasoline complex, but also confirming that most major processing units have been
00:26unaffected by the fire itself.
00:27Fuel production has been the major concern here, obviously.
00:31Viva has said that they believe they can produce diesel and jet fuel at about 80% of capacity
00:38currently and petrol down at 60% of capacity, although they have confirmed that they believe
00:44they have sufficient fuel stocks to cover this period.
00:47Now the big part of this update is obviously when they can be back up at running closer
00:51to full capacity.
00:52Their words were, over the next few weeks, pending inspections, they believe they'll be
00:57able to get production of diesel, jet fuel and petrol back to above 90% of their production
01:02capacity.
01:03As part of the update, they also had some statements from the CEO, Scott White, including apologising
01:09for any distress caused by the incident.
01:11He also said, we will progressively restore production once we are confident it is safe to do so,
01:17and do not expect any disruptions to fuel availability or price increases for Viva customers.
01:24Remember to stay tuned to the next time.
