Police have charged a 33-year-old man who was allegedly behind the wheel of a car that left the road and hit a group of men, killing one and seriously injuring another as they were leaving a comic convention in Melbourne’s north-west. The 33-year-old man from Werribee is facing charges of dangerous driving causing death and culpable driving. Despite last night's tragedy, day two of the event went ahead with attendees paying tribute to the young man who lost his life.

00:02A minute of silence to remember a man who was here at the home of Australia's pop culture fandom only
00:10the day before.
00:11I was shocked and a little disheartening about that, that this is what happened right here.
00:17That was the same road we were on, it hit really close to home.
00:19Last night, three 20-year-old men were on their way home from the convention just before 5pm,
00:25walking along this footpath next to the showgrounds when a car allegedly mounted a curb and struck two of them.
00:32A Keesborough man died at the scene, two others were taken to hospital,
00:37one in a serious but stable condition and the other for observation.
00:42To get across the lane, up onto the footpath and then travel 120 metres along the footpath
00:47in between a two metre high fence, trees and power poles is extremely rare.
00:52With help from a bystander, an off-duty police officer arrested a learner driver,
00:58a 33-year-old man from Werribee, who police say is well known to them and unlicensed.
01:04Authorities combed the scene for evidence late into Saturday evening,
01:08clearing the car, which was this morning replaced by flowers, as fans returned.
01:13We have our security here. We're always making sure that, you know, our fans are here and can celebrate without
01:23fear.
01:23Today, thousands of people have flocked to the Melbourne showgrounds for day two of the Supernova Comic Con event,
