00:02The temporary exhibition Forests Underwater at the Lisbon Oceanarium,
00:07which has been running for over a decade, is coming to an end.
00:11For over 10 years, Aquarists have been maintaining this 40-metre-long aquarium
00:17in top condition every day, amounting to around 11,000 hours of specialised diving.
00:24They all had one common goal, maintaining Takashi Amano's creation.
00:54People, every day, are swimming to maintain exactly everything like Takashi Amano idealized.
01:02In addition to daily maintenance and cleaning,
01:05pruning is carried out to preserve the aquarium's design and intended shape.
01:10Landscape photographer and one of the world's most influential aquascapers,
01:15Takashi Amano passed away four months after the exhibition opened.
01:20Designed for three years, the exhibition has far exceeded its estimated lifespan.
01:25If we were to prolong this aquarium for more time, we could be transgressing the view of the
01:35owner of the aquarium, because, along the time, the aquarium is changing.
01:41So it would be a bit disrespectful if we wanted to extend it for the period of time.
01:48The exhibition is available until the 30th of June, where you can take a guided tour
01:54behind the scenes of what is still the world's largest nature aquarium.
