00:06The jointly funded project between the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development, IFAD,
00:12and the federal government of Nigeria has significantly improved food production across the Niger Delta.
00:18IFAD's supported livelihood improvement family enterprises in the Niger Delta Life ND project aims to achieve a 50 percent increase
00:27in both production and marketed volume for its beneficiaries.
00:31The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kiari, described the project as truly unique,
00:37with a total project cost of $97.8 million.
00:41The initiative is boosting food security by empowering more than 38,250 women and youth
00:47through agribusiness opportunities across six states and the region.
00:54Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has condemned the easing of sanctions on Russian oil
01:00after the United States extended a waiver meant to soften surging energy prices driven by the Middle East War.
01:07He did not, however, mention the United States, but President Donald Trump's administration
01:12issued a month-long sanctions waiver allowing the sale of Russian oil and petroleum products that are at sea.
01:19The action was intended to bring down surging energy prices.
01:23But the U.S. Treasury Department extension came two days after Treasury Secretary Scott Besson said
01:30that Washington would not renew the waiver.
01:33Mediation efforts have continued following high-level talks in Pakistan that failed to reach a deal.
01:43Iran says it would not reopen the crucial maritime trade route
01:47until the United States ended its blockade of Iranian ports.
01:51The Strait of Homs remained closed on Sunday and the standoff between Iran and the United States,
01:57with Iran's Speaker of Parliament, Mohammed Bagagalabaf,
02:01signaling a final peace deal was far off despite movements in negotiations.
02:06A two-week ceasefire is set to end on Wednesday unless it is renewed.
02:11U.S. President Donald Trump said very good conversations were going on with Iran,
02:16but warned Iran against trying to blackmail the United States.
02:24Multiple people have been injured in a shooting at the University of Iowa early Sunday.
02:30Police says this happened after the Midwestern U.S. school issued an alert reporting gunshots
02:37in an area popular for nightlife.
02:40The United States, where firearms are readily available,
02:44has a long history of gun violence that kills thousands of people every year.
02:49The University of Iowa said there were confirmed victims in the incident
02:54without providing additional details of casualties.
02:57Victims have been taken to area hospitals to be treated for wounds suffered in the shooting.
