00:00All right, what's up Amayan and in this video
00:02I'm going to show you how to set up a virtual box the latest version first of all all you
00:07have to do is go to this link and
00:08Download the virtual box itself
00:11I will find the link in the description and you can go there and download it for yourself
00:16so in here all you have to do is click on the download button and
00:21Select a platform package if you're using a Windows machine Mac OS Linux or any other
00:27Depends on your choice. I'm using a Windows so Windows host and also make sure you download the Windows
00:34Virtual box extension pack because that is very useful in some cases
00:39Click on accept and download and you have both virtual box and
00:44Extension back downloading
00:45So in my case, I am going to be installing Kali Linux in there. So to download Kali Linux all
00:51you have to do is go to this link and
00:55Here there is a download button click on that and you will be
00:59presented with options
01:01So that is an pre-made pre-built image of virtual machine, but we are not going to use that
01:06we will be using the installer image
01:08because that's the one that you should be using and
01:12Simply download the offline installer
01:15Now all you have to do is wait for these download to complete and then we will be right back
01:20Okay, now as you can see the downloads are now complete and now we are going to go into bios
01:25and turn on visualization
01:27to enter bios there is a
01:29Command for that all you have to do is open up command prompt and run as administrator and type in
01:35this command that is showing on the screen
01:37Which is the shutdown space
01:40forward slash or space forward slash fw space forward slash t space 0
01:48Once you enter that command your laptop or pc will automatically restart and you don't have to press any buttons
01:56this will
01:58Directly boot into your bios so in bios all you have to do is found find the virtualization settings in
02:04my case
02:04This is the virtualization support. I am using a dell laptop. So
02:10It's an intel so it it's going to be like
02:14In visualization, you need to turn on the
02:18Intel virtualization technology once you have turned it on all you have to do is hit exist and apply changes
02:25Now this will reboot and will be right into the
02:29System so after you have rebooted and turned on the visualization. Let's open up the virtual box
02:35Application that we have downloaded just say yes to the prompt and
02:41This will start the installer
02:44Now we need to click on next accept the terms of terms and conditions
02:49Hit on next because i'm going to keep these settings as default not going to change anything
02:56Yep going next and install
02:59default settings are recommended because you won't have to get into probable in the later time
03:07Okay, now all you have to do is wait for the installation to do its job and this is going
03:13to take a little bit of your time
03:23Okay, so our virtual box is installed. Let's open it up
03:32Okay, here we go. We have virtual box opened up now. I am going to install the extension pack
03:39So there are several ways to install the extension pack, but
03:44the best one is to just close the visual box and
03:49Double click on the extension pack with this will automatically open up in virtual box click on install
03:55Read through the agreement if you want to and hit i agree and now you have extension pack installed
04:03Now let's go ahead and install our virtual machine
04:07So once you need to click on the new button and here we are going to select our
04:15OS
04:16Okay
04:18Here we go. I have selected my kali linux. Let's open it up
04:21The virtual machine name should automatically appear, but still if you want it you can
04:27Use a custom name, but i'm going with the kali linux name. So
04:32There's pretty much nothing that we can do right now. So we're gonna click on next here. We need to
04:38give some specifications
04:41So as long as you stay in the green zone, that's good, but
04:46sometimes you have to
04:49Do some custom stuff
04:52I'm going with the default settings, but still i'm going to give it at least two of the cores and
04:58Give it eight gigabytes of RAM. Yeah, the disk size is
05:02not very small for
05:05kali linux so
05:06Here we go now. We have our virtual machine created. Let's go ahead and start it
05:13Upon starting this will takes a little bit of your time
05:17and after that
05:20This will boot up which is good and now as we have selected the installer image
05:25We are going to have to install kali linux before
05:29Proceeding so we are going with the
05:32graphical install. Let me just full screen it and
05:35Yep, I might need to change the scale a little bit, but i'm going to keep it as it is
05:40just for the sake of this recording
05:42You can go the full screen mode or you can go to the scaled mode however you like
05:48I am going with the
05:50This one not going to change anything at all
05:54Just to show that i'm not changing anything
05:57important
05:58We're going with the english united states american english and
06:04Let's go with the default installation
06:07This is going to take a lot of time
06:09So i'm just gonna skip through all of this process because you know how to install kali linux right
06:15Well just in case if you don't know i will guard you
06:19Okay, so here is an important part where we need to change some names
06:23I'm going to go with kali and domain name as kali
06:27There we need to type in our username which is going to be my own name and
06:32Here we need to set up our password
06:35Okay, now i'm gonna select the clock i'm going with the default settings and some
06:44Password simple not very tough to remember
06:48Okay, so in the partition disk you don't have to partition anything because
06:53You are using a virtual box and there is only a little bit of space available
06:57So you have to use the guided full use entire disk
07:02And all files in one partition because you know in virtual machine you don't have to worry about partitions
07:09Okay, click on yes and write changes to the disk
07:14Now we will wait until it's does its job
07:32So at this point you get to choose your desktop environment as well as the collection of tools if you
07:38want or not
07:40I am going with the minimum installation approach so i'm not going to select any of this but
07:46We are going to select the kali's default desktop environment
07:51Otherwise, I would have preferred you know
07:54Okay, now let's wait for it
08:34And now it is asking where you do you want your grub bootloader so
08:39You will need it in your primary drive because this is a virtual machine
08:42No need to worry about anything just say yes and hit continue
08:48Like this and select the one that is showing up right here
08:55Hit on continue and this will now start installing grub bootloader
09:31Okay, here now we have our kali linux installed in our virtual machine
09:35Just going to type in the username and the password that we created
09:39during the installation and
09:42Wait for the desktop environment to load up so the first thing that you need to do
09:47After installing any kind of linux is to update everything so in order to update everything i am going to
09:55open up the terminal and
09:58right here
10:00Let me get to the full screen mode
10:03Okay, just type in sudo su to get the root access type in your password
10:09Hit enter and the first one is gonna be wrong so type in again
10:14And here we go now all you have to do is type in apt update this will update all the
10:19packages
10:20Okay, so all our packages are updated just type in apt full upgrade
10:27and
10:29Type in y hit enter now this will take some time to update stuff so i'm just gonna skip it
10:36Right to the best part but before skipping it. I think I should get to the
10:43Full screen mode okay, this is the seamless mode not the full screen one
10:48But still seamless mode is also good you don't have to
10:52You know think that it is a virtual machine that you are running
10:56This is great looking
10:58Okay, now just skip the boring part
11:40You
12:10You
12:14Okay, looks like the upgrade is done
12:16Let's just just to make sure we need to run these commands again apt update
12:21All the packages are up to date and everything is up to date
12:26Very good, but we have to remove some useless packages
12:28So we're gonna use sudo apt auto remove hit enter and
12:34Enter y and enter now everything
12:38Is clean and working and is up to date all the packages are up to date
12:44There are no upgrades remaining everything is just fine
12:49Let's close this terminal
12:51And here we go
12:53So this is how you can use
12:57Your what is going on right now?
12:59Okay, looks like
13:01It is acting up because I just performed a huge upgrade
13:05Okay, just gonna close everything and open it again
13:09Okay, what is going on? I don't know
13:12Okay, let's close the virtual machine and then this will just
13:17work right now
13:19click on shutdown click on shutdown and
13:23the virtual machine is turned off
13:26and looks like
13:28here we go
13:31Okay, something is not right
13:34Like this happens sometime if you perform a huge upgrade
13:39for the first time after installation
13:42All right, these are some bugs that can be fixed
13:45Okay, here we go
13:45The virtual machine is now powered off
13:48Let's try and start it up again just to make sure that it is working fine
13:53Or if there are any more problems with it
13:57Okay, it is working fine
13:59No more problems there
14:02Okay, grub is loading and we have
14:06Let's just make it full screen
14:08Okay, the full screen is not good
14:11Is this because of the grub bootloader?
14:14Yeah, I think this is because of the grub bootloader
14:18Okay, this will take some time to load
14:22Yeah, if you drag your mouse to the end you will see more options
14:27for full screening and other or whatnot
14:31Okay, let me just see what else do I need to change
14:35Yeah, the seamless mode kind of feels better instead of using the full screen mode
14:42Yeah, if you want to use it full screen just to go with the seamless mode
14:45And you won't have to worry about it
14:47Okay, the full screen mode is also good
14:49It's not bad at all
14:52Okay, looks like everything is working just fine
14:54Let me go with full screen mode
14:56Yep
14:57This is good
14:59It's working just fine
15:01It was because of the loading
15:05Yeah, I should have dedicated more cores to this
15:08Anyway
15:09That is how you can install virtual box on your laptop or pc
15:15Any windows system and install linux operating system or kelilux on it
15:20Anyway, that's been it
15:21Thanks for watching and I will catch you guys in the next one
15:23Take care
15:24Bye Bye
