00:00Alright what's up Amaya and today I will show you how to dual boot your windows operating
00:04system with Kali Linux.
00:07Actually I have already made this video but the unit boot in software was not working
00:12properly on many of the users so I decided to make it with another software which I will
00:17show you in this video.
00:19First of all we need to go to this website and download the installer image for the Kali
00:22Linux.
00:23Let's go ahead and download that.
00:27Ok so for this we will be using another software that is known as Ventoy.
00:33Ventoy is mostly used to make bootable USB drives but it can also be used to make a double
00:38boot system without using USB drives.
00:40So I will be downloading this.
00:42I am using a Windows.
00:44Therefore I will provide the link in the description as well so you can download it for yourself.
00:48Ok now I have downloaded the Windows version of Ventoy.
00:51Now let's wait for this download to complete then I will show you how this is going to
00:56work.
00:57And while these two are downloading we also need to make a separate partition on our disk so
01:04we can install Kali Linux on it.
01:06So for this we will be right clicking on the Windows icon and then going to Disk Management.
01:12So here we need to make an unallocated space.
01:16For this I have two disks installed so I will be using the first disk for this and let's
01:22do it again.
01:24I am going to extend this volume.
01:26So if you do not want to use another space if you have unallocated space you can use that
01:31but if you do not have just extend the volume.
01:35So let me show you how we can make this unallocated space.
01:40You can see this is the, yup what is this, yup everything is correct in here.
01:49This is the space that I will be using.
01:53You can select any amount of space you want but depends on your requirements and the use
01:59of your Kali Linux system.
02:00You might also need a way higher than you already have so depends on your usage.
02:08You should check the Kali Linux minimum requirements and then you can decide for yourself how much
02:13space that you want to allocate for the system.
02:15I will be extending the volume.
02:18Just to show you guys how you can make an unallocated space out of a volume.
02:23Just hit shrink volume and then we need to select the amount of space that we want.
02:28So I will be using this amount of space on my first disk and the rest of the space will
02:38be unallocated.
02:40Ok just you type in the volume.
02:46I am just trying to make a full 100 GB volume which is kind of hard.
02:52Ok now here you can see I know we have a 100.01 GB and we got some unallocated space.
02:59This unallocated space will be used to install Kali Linux on it so just keep it in mind.
03:05If you wanna make sure just make it a simple volume.
03:10Assign the letter that you want to.
03:12Only the available ones will be assigned.
03:15Ok here we go again.
03:17I am gonna type in the name here Kali Linux.
03:21So it is easier for me to recognize.
03:25Here we go.
03:28Ok now we have a simple volume named Kali Linux.
03:32Now we can use it to install Kali Linux on it.
03:36Here you can see right here.
03:39Ok now all we need to do is wait for the download to complete and then we will be back.
04:03Ok now so there is a very small amount of time remaining for the download to complete.
04:08We will just wait for the download and then I will show you how you can install this image
04:13without having to use a bootable USB drive.
04:17So we can use one of the disk spaces that we have available.
04:21I mean only the disk drives like having an extra SSD or an harddix can be used to you know
04:29boot
04:30your sys image and then install it on a disk.
04:35Yeah I will show you what that means so let's wait for the download to complete which is almost
04:41done.
04:43Ok so our download is now complete.
04:48It is complete.
04:50Come on.
04:51Ok here we go.
04:52Now let's just open the show in folder.
04:57Now all we need to do is extract ventoi.
05:01Ok I am going to use 7-zips to extract ventoi tool right here.
05:06Let's open it up.
05:08Open the ventoi to disk.
05:09Run as administrator.
05:12Ok now here you can see we have no USB plugged in.
05:16So in going the options you can see we can hit the option like show all drives.
05:23Now we have both of the drives available.
05:26I have two disk drives attached with my laptop.
05:30One is the Intel SSD and the second one is the Samsung SSD.
05:34So I will be I already have installed it on Intel SSD but Intel SSD does not work but if
05:42you have another disk drive attached to it you can use that.
05:45You can see I already installed the ventoi in it.
05:48You will just go to the options and select the non-destructive install.
05:55This will not wipe any data on your SSD or hardix and then simply install ventoi on it.
06:02Ok if you already have ventoi installed on one of your drives you can simply update it
06:08without having to destroy on it.
06:10If you do not have simply non-destructive install will be good.
06:15If you hit install everything on your that disk will be wiped out clean.
06:21So I recommend that you do not hit install simply go with non-destructive install.
06:27Ok so after you have done that which I have done already on my disk drive.
06:32All we need to do is copy this ISO image and place it in my disk drive with ventoi installed
06:40on it.
06:41Now let's wait for the copying process to complete then I will show you how you can install
06:45curly linux without using a bootable USB drive.
06:49Just using another disk drive.
06:51That's all.
06:53Ok everything is done.
06:54Now we get to close everything and then we will be moving to the part where we install
07:00the stuff.
07:02All you have to do is just shutdown or restart the system.
07:06Ok now I am going to the boot menu and select the HDD device where you have installed the
07:11ventoi software on it.
07:14As you can see ventoi is opening right here and now I am being given the option to use
07:19the color linux image.
07:22It is recommended that if you are using any linux go with grub2 mode.
07:27After that hit graphical install.
07:30Just like that.
07:32So please keep in mind that I am not using a USB drive.
07:36I am simply installing it from a disk drive that is already in my laptop.
07:43Ok now this is the process how we can install curly linux.
07:47I am going with English and United States and American English.
07:52Just going with the default settings.
07:56It will do its take time.
07:58Now all we need to do is wait for it and follow this process step by step so you do
08:03not lose
08:03anything on your system and still be able to dual boot curly linux on it.
08:09I will also be installing grub boot loader so you can choose whenever you want to use
08:15windows or color linux.
08:18Ok everything is doing great.
08:22It sometimes take good time depends on the speed of your hardware.
08:27Ok all we have to do is wait for this stuff to do its job.
08:37Ok now so here is the part where you connect to the internet.
08:40So I will be using the wireless ethernet and I will be connecting to my hostels wifi.
08:48I will be now typing in the password.
08:51Here we go.
08:53This is the password.
08:54Don't share it with anyone.
08:56Now this will connect to the internet and see if we need to download or update anything.
09:14And now I will be typing in my host name which is going to be the same.
09:20I will be using my own name for this.
09:24Let's type in my own name iron and the domain name will be the same as my own name or
09:34just
09:34keep it the default one.
09:37I recommend that you go with the default ones if you need to type in your name just simply
09:42type in there.
09:43Here I will be also typing in the password twice just to re-enter password to verify.
09:53Here we go.
09:55I have typed in my password.
09:57Let's continue.
09:59Yep going with the defaults for now.
10:02Not going to change anything else until it is necessary.
10:07Ok so this is the part where we install Kali Linux on a disk.
10:12This is a very important part.
10:14Do not skip it.
10:15If you skip it and mess it up everything might be wiped up and you must end up with a
10:21brick
10:21system.
10:23Ok so for this use the guided.
10:26I repeat use the guided one.
10:33Alright.
10:35You can also use the manual version if you are into that.
10:42If you do not want to use the guided one where you have the free space available you can
10:47install it there.
10:48And if it does not work you can come back here and do the manual stuff.
10:54Ok here you can let's find out the one that we created.
10:58Now remember the partition size.
11:01So this 200gb one and this is the 4gb one that I created.
11:05This is the basic data partition.
11:06So I will be selecting that and then I will be how to use this partition as an ext4 journaling
11:16file system.
11:17And the root file mount point also.
11:21These two settings are very important for you.
11:25You need to select those.
11:27And hit continue.
11:29Ok finish and write.
11:31Now if a partition was found.
11:34And go to yes.
11:36And now if that doesn't work you can open that partition again.
11:41And simply delete this partition.
11:45Now I will be deleting this partition.
11:48Now we have the 40gb free space as an unallocated space.
11:54And I will be hitting the automatically partition and selecting the all files invert partition.
12:02Ok everything is now done.
12:04Just gonna finish partitioning and wanna write changes to the disk.
12:11Yes.
12:12This is how you install the cullinux on the partition that you just created in the windows
12:18system.
12:19Now all we need to do is wait for the installing and then I will show you what happens next.
12:36Ok now here at this part we need to select the software that we want to install.
12:41You can also use the default settings if you want.
12:44But if somehow you do not get through that and it causes installation failure I recommend
12:50that you uncheck these options.
12:52The top 10 and the default options.
12:54Also the collection of tools just simply select these two desktop environment and xfce.
13:01So this will install automatically and will not cause you any failure.
13:06But if you get any failure during this after you have selected those install you can go
13:10back to select that software and then unselect three files.
13:14Just simply select the desktop environment and xfce desktop environment.
13:19These two options will help you and you will not get the installation failure.
13:23Now just wait for the installation to complete and then I will show you if you need to change
13:29anything else.
14:05So the grub boot loader was automatically installed but if you still need to install it manually it will give
14:11you the option to install the grub boot loader.
14:14Ok now what we need to do is to hit continue and the system will automatically restart.
14:21Now we wait for the system to boot up and it will open up the grub boot loader just like
14:27this.
14:27The first option is to open the Kali Linux and the third option is to go to the windows options.
14:33You can change other settings but I don't think those matter much.
14:37Those are not other things to change.
14:40Ok now we can go to windows and we can go to Kali Linux.
14:44Simply select Kali Linux or you can just wait 5 seconds and it will automatically boot into
14:49Kali Linux.
14:51Now let's wait for the Kali Linux to boot up.
15:02Now let's type in the username and password that we created during the installation.
15:07I hope you remember that.
15:09Didn't you forget?
15:11Ok now here we are into the Kali Linux 5 system officially.
15:16Now it is working just fine.
15:18You can open up the terminal emulator right here.
15:23Here you can see.
15:24And now it is just normal Kali Linux and you can use other commands that you want to use.
15:30For example sudo apt-get update or things like that.
15:34Oh I forgot to put in the apt-get.
15:37That is why this command is not working.
15:40So sorry.
15:44I am just trying to make this video as short as possible.
15:48Here are the applications that are already pre-installed with your Kali Linux or you can
15:52also install it later.
15:54And they will still be there.
15:56And they will still be there.
15:59Ok so I think there is nothing else to change right now.
16:04Now what do you say we should go back to our Windows Ops system.
16:09Let's restart your PC by going to restart.
16:15And now it will automatically go into the grub boot loader.
16:20And we need to select Windows boot manager.
16:22And now it will open up and boot into Windows.
16:27And this is how you can get your tool boot system without having to use a bootable USB drive.
16:34Pretty cool right?
16:35Just we will be using another disk drive as a bootable one without having to destroy all the data on
16:43it.
16:44Yup.
16:45Wolverine seems very angry at me.
16:48Ok now we are back into our Windows environment.
16:51Now let's just show you.
16:53As you can see the Kali Linux partition is now gone.
16:57Now we are going to use the disk management tool to see where it is.
17:02Now as you can see this is just a healthy primary partition.
17:05But if you delete this partition it will automatically delete everything on Kali Linux.
17:09Anyway that's been it.
17:10Thanks for watching.
