00:02Yeah, it's a really fabulous result, but this is certainly not about me.
00:06This is about Newcastle, this is about our community, it's about my volunteers,
00:10it's about everybody that believed in this.
00:14So I'm so excited for all of them, for us, for Newcastle.
00:18And I mean, it was a pretty quick result.
00:21Were you expecting it to, you know, be that clear or to have that much support so quickly?
00:27No, not that fast.
00:28I didn't know what to expect, I'd never gone through this before, Maddie.
00:33So, you know, to have a result so quickly and, yeah, it's really great.
00:38It might mean I'll be able to get a night's sleep.
00:41I could be in bed by a big dog.
00:43And, I mean, what was it like in the room when, you know, you came out and announced that you'd
00:49won?
00:50That was amazing.
00:51To know so quickly, which I knew, I held and I kept it quiet for a little bit of time
00:56there out of respect.
00:59For, you know, my counterparts, which was, you know, lovely.
01:02And I got some, you know, wonderful fun calls.
01:04And it was very, very respectful.
01:07And it's great.
01:08And it's exciting.
01:09What this is about, it's exciting for a whole new future.
01:12So, to get up there and share the news with this team, these people who work so hard.
01:18This is such a battle.
01:19This is a really difficult thing to do.
01:21To stand on those booths all day, not just today.
01:25They've been doing it all week long because they believe.
01:27And it's been a very hot, dry week as well.
01:31So, to share the news, to share their hope, their joy, what they fought for, what they believe in.
01:38And let them know that it's all worth it.
01:40Just magically.
01:41And Declan Clause, and I think he was sort of expected to be your toughest competition probably in this election.
01:47And he called you to concede and congratulate you.
01:50What was that phone call like?
01:51It was really, really great.
01:53I have a huge amount of respect for Declan.
01:55And he's a very smart young man.
01:56And I told him I really look forward to working with him.
01:58And I need him on the team as much as I need all of the counsellors on my team to
02:03help, you know, propel us forward into the future.
02:06So, I'm really looking forward to getting the whole team together.
02:10And have you got a message for all of those people who voted for you?

02:15You know, I mean, it's been absolutely fantastic to get out, meet everyone, connect, communicate to everyone.

02:25I mean, there was so much fun out there from the voters that just bail past you and they kind
02:30of shove you out of the way.
02:31And then they come out and they give you a bit of a wink.
02:33And then they're nice on the exit to just sharing their stories, their hopes, you know, for Newcastle and the
02:39future.
