*Wheeler Dealers: Dream Car* is a spin-off of the Wheeler Dealers franchise that focuses on helping everyday people trade their way up to their ideal vehicle. Instead of restoring cars for profit alone, each episode follows a personal journey, where the team starts with the participant’s current car and gradually upgrades through a series of smart buys, repairs, and sales.

The show is led by Mike Brewer, an expert in sourcing and negotiating deals, and Marc Priestley (also known as “Elvis”), a former McLaren Racing mechanic who handles the technical work and improvements.

Season 1 establishes the format with a mix of nostalgic and ambitious goals, from classic cars like a Land Rover Series IIa and Ford Escort Mk2 to high-value dreams such as a DeLorean DMC-12 and a Nissan Skyline.

Season 2 builds on this with bigger stakes and more emotional stories, including practical goals like an Audi Q7 for a growing family, lifestyle vehicles such as a Volkswagen Campervan, and dream performance cars like a Caterham Seven.

Overall, the series blends car expertise with personal storytelling, showing how smart decisions and mechanical skill can turn an ordinary car into someone’s dream vehicle.

00:00Ending up against the clock.
00:01Oh, yes, yes, yes!
00:04To get NHS worker Mark, he's dreamed Caterham 7,
00:07whilst he's still healthy enough to enjoy it.
00:10It sounds to me that this could be your last hurrah.
00:12It could well be.
00:13I hope it isn't, but treat it as that, because it could well be.
00:16Bagging a top-of-the-range British sports car
00:18means taking some big risks.
00:21This is no ordinary motorbike.
00:22This is a fantastic one.
00:24I'm sure it is a good one when it's finished.
00:26Hopefully, we won't end up looking like a pair of clowns.
00:30Tell me you haven't bought it.
00:31Of course I've bought it.
00:32Who's going to buy that?
00:35Oh, yes!
00:37We've all got a dream car.
00:39For most, it remains out of reach.
00:42I've always said to myself when I was younger
00:43that when I get older, I'll buy one.
00:45Unfortunately, it's just been a dream.
00:47So, I'm taking on the ultimate trading challenge.
00:50Oh, now we're going!
00:52To make motoring dreams come true.
00:54I know you can do it, Mark.
00:55I believe in you.
00:56I'm not Harry Potter.
00:58Here's how.
00:58I meet car lovers who hand over their daily drive.
01:01Where's the petrol flat?
01:02Oh, I think that flew off down the M1 on it, yeah.
01:04And whatever savings they can spare.
01:06About £500.
01:07£500.
01:08For a series of trades, this is a monumental gamble.
01:12And money-making deals.
01:14I'll offer you £3,000.
01:15Hold out your hand.
01:16I'll trade up.
01:17Yeah, lovely.
01:17Until I've got enough money to buy the car they've always wanted.
01:21I can't express how happy I am.
01:23Stop crying!
01:24I'll draw on years of experience and share my tricks of the trade.
01:29If the weather's like this and we can get that roof working, we can sell this for more than double
01:33what I paid for it.
01:34Helping me in the workshop is ex-Formula 1 mechanic, Elvis.
01:39It's such an inconvenient place to have to work this.
01:41It won't go forwards.
01:43It only goes backwards.
01:44Yeah.
01:44We just wasted £2,300 of our money.
01:47The pressure is on.
01:48Oh, that's crazy.
01:49To deliver...
01:50You're taking it.
01:51...that dream car.
01:52I've taken it.
01:53It's amazing.
02:00I'm on my way to go and meet Mark Charles.
02:03Now, Mark works for the NHS, so he's a good man.
02:06And his dream is to own a proper British classic sports car, a Caterham 7.
02:13Now, it's a special mission for us because Mark's had a tough time recently.
02:18Two years ago, he was diagnosed with something called colitis and needed major surgery.
02:23He then developed arthritis, which means that within a few years, he may not be able to walk.
02:28So, I'd love to get him his dream sports car, whilst he can still enjoy it.
02:33Caterhams are iconic little sports cars, and they're great fun to drive, so it's a really good choice.
02:39I also know Elvis is going to like that choice, too, because he used to work on them.
02:44Now, Mark, he's been saving for many years to get his dream car, but unfortunately, they're always just out of
02:50reach
02:50because although they're tiny, those little cars, they are rather expensive.
02:54And that's where I step in.
02:56I'm determined to help Mark out to get his dream car.
03:00With time running out for Mark to own this iconic little car,
03:04I've arranged to meet him and his son, Tom, at Caterham's biggest showroom.
03:08Here they are.
03:11Mark, Tom, how are you?
03:12Hiya, Mike. Nice to meet you.
03:13Good to see you.
03:14How are you doing? Are you all right?
03:15Seven-hour round trip for you, isn't it?
03:17Oh, well, it is, Matt, but what a trip, though.
03:19It's well worth it to come in and see all these cars like this.
03:22Fantastic. Fair play.
03:23What about you, then, Tom? Which one takes your fancy?
03:25You're standing next to this yellow one, or is it the little Lego one? Is that what takes your fancy?
03:30I like this one.
03:31You like this one?
03:31Yeah.
03:32It's cool, isn't it, eh?
03:33Yeah.
03:33It's a nice colour. I like the yellow.
03:35Shall we leave you to look round the cars and I'll go and have a trip with your dad? Is
03:37that right?
03:38Yeah.
03:38Yeah? All right. Come on, then.
03:40The Seven is Caterham's flagship model.
03:43They've been making them since 1973.
03:46And I can tell you, the driving experience is absolutely unique.
03:50And most importantly, it's incredibly good fun.
03:53This choice tells me Mark's a man after my own heart.
03:57And Elvis's, too.
03:59One of his first jobs was for a Caterham race team.
04:01Yes, that's him. A 19-year-old sporting a dodgy haircut.
04:05He worked there before his days in F1.
04:07So I know he'll love Mark's choice.
04:10What do you do for a living?
04:11I work for Swansea Beach Health Board.
04:14I'm an information governance officer.
04:16For the NHS?
04:17For the NHS.
04:17I gather on NHS wages.
04:19It doesn't give you the disposable income for you to go out there and go and get your own, Caterham.
04:24I think if I was in retirement age, maybe I would have been in a position to buy one, but
04:27certainly not now, anyway.
04:29You've got some ill health as well, haven't you?
04:31I have, yeah, unfortunately.
04:33I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis.
04:36It couldn't be controlled with medication, so I ended up having two major bowel operations.
04:42Everything seemed to work out fine.
04:43And then two years ago, I hyperextended my knee, and that triggered something called entropathic arthritis.
04:50What a shame. I mean, what a shame.
04:51And I'm sorry about your ill health, and being that you've got some arthritis coming, I don't want to be
04:57blunt, but this sounds to me like you owning a Caterham.
05:02It sounds to me that this could be your last hurrah.
05:05It could well be.
05:06I'm relatively controlled at the moment, and lots of immunosuppressants and steroid injections, but if you'd have seen me about
05:12three weeks ago, I could barely walk.
05:15Why Caterham? What got you into Caterham?
05:17Um, it's just that classic styling that I like, and because it's, you know, low to the ground, it's, I
05:23don't know, simple, simple car, and I think that's what appeals to me, really.
05:27Not that I've driven one yet, but that experience of being that low to the ground, that's what I'm most
05:32looking forward to.
05:33What colour would you go for?
05:34Um, yellow is probably my favourite, yellow with the black stripes.
05:38What happens if I do manage to get you a car, you get in it, and you hate it?
05:42Oh, it's not going to happen. It's just not going to happen. I can't imagine in any world that's going
05:45to happen.
05:46Mark's a lovely guy, and I'm determined to give him that experience behind the wheel of a Caterham 7.
05:52This is a big arse for me and Elvis, because Caterham 7s are monumentally expensive, but none of that matters.
05:59What matters, really, is what car he's got in a car park to trade in.
06:04So tell me, is it the Fiat Arbath, the BMW?
06:09It's not this. The Honda Civic. And this made it all the way from Wales?
06:13It did.
06:15Oh, Mark.
06:18It doesn't look as bad as it is.
06:19The interior's good.
06:20How many miles has it done?
06:22125.
06:22You're kidding, really?
06:23Yeah.
06:24So let me get this right. The car you want is literally right there.
06:28Yeah.
06:29You want a Caterham 7.
06:30These are tens of thousands of pounds.
06:33I don't even think I could get a grand for this.
06:36So I'm kind of hoping that stuffed in that centre console down there are tens of thousands of pounds to
06:42make the journey a little bit easier.
06:43It's not tens of thousands, it's several thousand.
06:45Huh?
06:46Five thousand.
06:47Five grand!
06:47Five grand.
06:48Get in.
06:48That means I've got a good starting point.
06:51So leave it with me.
06:52Next time you see me, hopefully it'll be with your dream car.
06:56Well, the task in front of me and Elvis is a massive one.
07:00I've seen these Caterham 7s sell upwards of 12,000 pounds.
07:04And look what we've got to start with, that old Honda Civic.
07:07But what with Mark's ill health and his last chance to get his dream car, me and Elvis, we have
07:12no choice but to pull it off.
07:18Well, Mark and his son, Tom, what a lovely, lovely fellow.
07:22Having just a couple of years of good mobility left means that we have to work really fast to try
07:27and get him the car that he wants, his dream car, that lovely little Caterham.
07:31The first job is to get this car tidied up and I can get trading for that five grand he'd
07:36give me.
07:39Mate!
07:392.2 litre diesel Type S Honda.
07:43And it is a bit tired, I must admit, but we need to turn this into a dream car for
07:49a lovely chap.
07:50He's called Mark, he's got a young son called Tom, he's got ill health and this is his sort of
07:55last chance to have his dream car and I said, me and you, we'll help.
07:59Yeah, and what's he after?
08:01Oh, you're going to like this.
08:02We've got to somehow turn this into a specific Caterham.
08:07We've got to turn this into a Caterham 7.
08:08A yellow Caterham 7, that's what your son Thomas has asked for, yeah, so it's a big challenge.
08:13That is specific, all right, well, I mean, what have we got to do to this?
08:16Well, the only things are, it's going to need a little bit of work on the suspension, I think it's
08:20going to need a couple of shocks.
08:21That's fine, it's not too bad, but it's still not going to be worth a fortune, is it?
08:24It's a long leap from this to a Caterham 7.
08:25Exactly, yeah.
08:26The good news is, he gave me five grand as well.
08:29Has he?
08:29So I can get trading with the five grand whilst you get this up together and we can get it
08:34sold.
08:34That's good, like it.
08:35Right, let's work.
08:36Well done, mate.
08:38Mike reckons there are some issues with the Honda's shocks, so that's my first job.
08:43And I can see it already.
08:45It's moist around this area and underneath the boot, which actually looks like it's split as well, is really quite
08:53wet.
08:53So the top of the shock absorber's leaking oil out.
08:57At the moment, it's not enough to fail an MOT, but the shocks will only continue to degenerate.
09:02So I'm going to replace the front pair now before they become a safety issue.
09:06I bought replacements online.
09:09They're about £80 for a new shock absorber.
09:11I can reuse the spring and the top mount and everything else.
09:14And you don't want to just change one on its own.
09:16So I'm changing the front pair because that will give us a nice balanced ride moving forward.
09:22With the spring clamped in a spring compressor, it's an easy job.
09:25The new shock's attached using the same mounts and bolts as the old one.
09:30So whilst I've had this apart, I've checked that the bearings and the top mount are all OK, which they
09:35are.
09:35And now I've got to make sure the top mount goes back in in the same orientation that it came
09:39out.
09:40But we're basically good to go.
09:49There we go.
09:49OK, that's one side done.
09:51I'm not saying that fitting new shocks is going to increase the car's value, but it might just help us
09:55get it sold.
09:56And on our journey towards Mark's Caterham 7, that could be just as important.
10:01Shock sorted, the car just needs a deep clean.
10:04Mike's going to advertise it nationally for £1,500.
10:07It's a great price as a starter car for a new driver.
10:12The next morning, Mike's messaged me saying he's got a surprise waiting in the workshop.
10:18What on earth is that?
10:26Look what I've delivered you.
10:27What is it?
10:28It's a clown's car.
10:29Well, I can see that.
10:30Tell me you haven't bought it.
10:31Of course I bought it.
10:32It's only £1,500.
10:33Are you joking?
10:34No.
10:35And who's going to buy that?
10:37Don't you think I've got a plan?
10:38I've always got a plan.
10:39This is a proper little thing.
10:41It belonged to Zippo the clown, the genuine real Zippo.
10:44Really?
10:45He sold it to the props company that I bought it from.
10:48This is a collector's item.
10:49We'll easily get it sold as long as you can get it running.
10:53OK.
10:54You've worked on cars that go 200 miles an hour.
10:57Just work on this that does three miles an hour.
10:59All you've got to do is connect the engine up.
11:01Look, it's just doing nothing in the back.
11:02It's just got a lawnmower engine dropped in the back.
11:06Ha, ha.
11:06Whee!
11:08You can do it, pal.
11:10Next, I'm severely tempted to risk our pot on a 70s two-wheeler.
11:14This is a monumental gamble.
11:18Monumental gamble.
11:19And Elvis is worried that joke's on him with the clown car.
11:22If it smokes like a chimney, well, you might be looking at a brand-new engine.
11:34We're trying to make NHS worker Mark's dream of owning a Caterham 7 come true.
11:39Where did you love how Caterham's come from?
11:41It's just that classic styling that I like.
11:43That's what appeals to me, really.
11:46Caterham's average around 12 grand, so I'm going to need to do several trades.
11:50Our latest is this clown car.
11:52But the engine doesn't run.
11:54And if it needs replacing, that's our profit all gone.
11:57It's fitted with this little Honda GX200, basically a lawnmower engine.
12:02I can already see that it's missing a clutch pack.
12:05Could be missing a whole load more than that.
12:07But luckily, I've got a neighbour next door who deals with these things for a living.
12:11So I'm going to go and see him.
12:13I wish all engines were that easy to get out.
12:15I know we need to order the centrifugal clutch, but if there's anything else missing, then
12:19my friend Mark is a man who can find the parts.
12:22What's this, moving to the garbage machinery?
12:25These motors are simple two-strokes, but they need to be looked after just like a car engine.
12:31I've checked, and there is no oil in the bottom of this thing, which might just be because
12:35someone's drained it out, or it could be something more sinister.
12:38But the only way to tell is to put some back in it, fire it up and see what happens.
12:42If it smokes like a chimney, well, that could be really bad news, you know, because the piston
12:47rings around this thing, if they go, if they start to leak oil through and it's burnt that
12:51oil away, it can also score the bores.
12:53And at that point, you're probably into buying a new engine, which, in all honesty, will be
12:57all of our profit gone.
13:00Fingers crossed, a few quid's worth of standard oil is all that's needed.
13:05Here we go.
13:20I'm actually really pleased that this thing runs.
13:23Massive relief, because now I can start to make a list of the bits that I need.
13:26Mark can get them for me.
13:27Clutch pack, air filter, a full service kit for this engine.
13:31And then, quite frankly, I'll be pleased to see the back of it.
13:35Once I've got the engine working, this quirky little car should be able to pull off its old
13:39circus tricks again.
13:42Well, if we're ever going to get that catering for Mark, we are going to need to sell his
13:45trading car, which is this little Honda.
13:48Now, Elvis has done some great work getting it ship-shaped.
13:50I've advertised it out there online.
13:52I've been inundated with people.
13:53This guy behind me, Dean, and his daughter, Rosie, they're first here.
13:56He likes it.
13:58Doesn't want to buy it.
14:00So then, Dean.
14:01Hi, Mike.
14:01First up, why a Honda Civic?
14:04Looking for a reliable diesel for work.
14:06Nice.
14:06You do a lot of miles?
14:07A lot of miles between 200 and 400 a week.
14:09You're going to need something that's reliable.
14:11Plus, they do sort of drive like a petrol car as well.
14:13They're quite powerful, these Honda Civics.
14:16Excellent.
14:16OK, does Rosie give it a thumbs up or a thumbs up?
14:19Thumbs up from Rosie.
14:21Nice one.
14:22Well, listen, I've put it out there online.
14:23I've been inundated with people beating the paths to my door.
14:26You're here first.
14:27I do need £1,500 for it.
14:29I think I'm going to get that.
14:30So what do you say?
14:31£1,500, Mike.
14:32It's a deal.
14:33Nice one.
14:34Well done, Rosie.
14:35Pound it.
14:36Boom.
14:37Well done.
14:40Mark gave us £5,000 of his own cash.
14:43We spent £160 on new shocks for the Civic and sold it for £1,500,
14:48which means we got £4,840 in the Dream Car Fund and a clown car to sell.
14:55Not a bad start.
14:56And Elvis has some more good news.
14:59What is that?
15:02Oh, yeah!
15:04Oh, mate!
15:05Oh, that is fantastic!
15:07Isn't it cool?
15:08It's a breeze!
15:09That is brilliant!
15:10I never thought I'd seen a day!
15:12Amazing, isn't it?
15:13It is absolutely fantastic.
15:14Oh, Elvis, it is wicked!
15:16Do you like the comedy horn?
15:17I like it, yeah, very good.
15:18I've got another couple of mods I've fitted as well, aren't I?
15:20Check that out.
15:22Oh, that's brilliant!
15:25It is every inch.
15:27That's coloured smoke.
15:29It's every inch what I thought it would be.
15:32It's a proper clown's car.
15:33Mate, you've absolutely nailed it.
15:35It's so much fun.
15:36Give £1,500 for it.
15:38With all your hard work, we've not really spent anything, have we?
15:40Not really, no.
15:41All I did was fit the engine, replace the clutch pad.
15:44Elvis has smashed it with a clown car.
15:46He's literally knocked it out.
15:48The circus ring, he really has.
15:49Now I've got it listed online, I'm hoping to get around £2,000 for it.
15:54And what were the history I know and the providence, I hope it's going to appeal to a collector and
15:59we'll get it sold.
16:01A week later, the online auction for the clown car has ended.
16:05We received plenty of offers and I'm meeting the winning bidder so they can inspect and collect it.
16:10Some may think I'm a bit of a clown when I go out and buy a clown car, but actually
16:14I'm the one that won because I advertised it on an online auction site and I got bids from all
16:20over the world.
16:20I even had Zippo the clown himself comment on the listing and the bid started to increase.
16:26We have 41 in total.
16:27This chap behind me was the winning bidder.
16:30He's called Mike.
16:31He's come all the way down from Barnsley.
16:33Remember, he's already bought the car.
16:35Does he want to take it?
16:36Mike, you still happy?
16:38Very happy.
16:39Lovely.
16:39Yeah, it's a wonderful thing, isn't it?
16:41So what do you want to buy it for?
16:43I bought it purely for my little son.
16:44Oh, really?
16:45He can potter around in it.
16:46And he can be a clown.
16:47He can be a clown.
16:48There's a button there to make a smoke canister go off.
16:51There's another one that these squirters squirt water everywhere.
16:54Oh, great.
16:55I think the doors ping off if you want them to.
16:57So, yeah, he can have a lot of fun with this.
16:59He really can.
17:00So you've already got a nice yellow Mustang.
17:02You've got to park this one next to it?
17:04I am.
17:04It'll take pride in place.
17:05Nice one.
17:06Well, listen, you were the winning bidder at £2,300.
17:08Are you still happy to agree to that?
17:11Yeah, 100%, Mike.
17:11Super.
17:12You bought yourself a nice little clown car.
17:16Which means we've got £6,890 in the Dream Car Fund.
17:20Not bad, but still barely halfway to the £12,000 or so needed for Mark's Caterham.
17:25So I'm off to see another flip.
17:27Which has the potential for a big profit.
17:30Now, I love cars.
17:31Anyone would tell you that.
17:32But what you might not know is I also love motorbikes too.
17:35Much to my wife's dismay.
17:37Now, I've got wind of a bike that's just come onto the market.
17:40It's one of my favourite all-time bikes.
17:42It's a CB750, like the original super bike.
17:46Belongs to a guy called Andy.
17:47He actually restores bikes.
17:49But he's got too many projects on and this one is just too much for him.
17:53So, I have seen these bikes sell for thousands of pounds because they are such a sought-after and collector's
18:00item.
18:01Andy?
18:02Hello.
18:03Mike.
18:03How are you doing?
18:04Very nice to meet you.
18:05Nice to meet you.
18:05Yeah, fantastic.
18:06What a place.
18:07This is amazing, isn't it?
18:08Yeah.
18:09You've got bikes everywhere.
18:10This is my kind of wheelhouse.
18:12Right.
18:12Okay.
18:13So, CB750.
18:15Yeah.
18:15The iconic bike, first real super bike.
18:19Nice.
18:19Okay.
18:19What year is this one?
18:21This is a 1972.
18:23They came out in 69.
18:2469.
18:25And they sort of finished off the British motorcycle industry because they were the first proper four-cylinder motorbike.
18:31Had a disc brake, electric starter.
18:34It was a revelation.
18:35Revolution.
18:36You know, the bits that I can see are absolutely astonishing.
18:39I've been right through the engine.
18:41It's had anything that needed doing.
18:43It's had all the bearings, all the seals.
18:45What's here is all done.
18:47Right.
18:47But what's not here is the bits that are worrying me.
18:52Well, there's a few bits that you've got to get.
18:55Okay.
18:56So, talk me through them.
18:57Where's the saddle?
18:58Got the saddle there.
18:59Okay.
18:59So, we've got a saddle.
19:00Brand new fuel tank.
19:02No rust.
19:02That's wonderful.
19:04The biggest worry, though, is that it doesn't have the right exhaust.
19:07The original four-pipe, like this one.
19:10If I was to market this bike without the four-pipes, what's it worth?
19:14Between five and six grand.
19:16And with the correct exhaust pipe on it?
19:17With the correct exhaust, it's going to put a couple of grand on it.
19:20Is it really?
19:21Yeah.
19:21As much as that?
19:22Yeah.
19:23Oh, that is the problem, isn't it?
19:26That really is the big issue.
19:28Because how much do you want for this?
19:30Five grand.
19:32This is a monumental gamble.
19:35Monumental gamble.
19:36Yeah, but you like a gamble.
19:37I do like a gamble.
19:38I'll give you four and a half grand for it.
19:40No, no, no.
19:41Five grand.
19:42I can't do five grand.
19:43I've got to have a little bit of something back.
19:45Put it this way.
19:46I'm going to...
19:47It's going to be at least £200 worth of phone calls around the world to find one.
19:52Okay.
19:52So please give me a look.
19:53I'll give you the 200 quid.
19:55£4,800.
19:56What have I just done?
19:58What have I just done?
20:00Oh, I hope this is going to kill me.
20:05And he seems like a lovely guy and a real bike enthusiast, but I don't know what I've just done.
20:10If I can't find the original exhaust, which I know is as rare as hen's teeth, we could be in
20:17trouble.
20:24Oh, it's not very often you bring me a bike, but I love it when you do.
20:27I like to challenge you, and this is no ordinary motorbike.
20:30This is a fantastic one.
20:32I'm sure it is a good one when it's finished.
20:34It's missing some bits.
20:36I've got the bits in here.
20:36Well, I'll say I've got the bits.
20:38I've got most of the bits.
20:41Let's have a look.
20:43Oh, wow.
20:44Look at that.
20:44All painted ready to go.
20:46So you've got a nice petrol tank and a saddle.
20:48That's in the back of the car.
20:49Fantastic.
20:50What's missing then?
20:51The exhaust is missing.
20:53Okay, we'll just buy a new one.
20:55They're unobtainium.
20:56They don't exist.
20:57I've gone and spent £4,800.
21:00But if I can find the exhaust, that is going to turn itself into a seven or eight grand motorbike.
21:06That's a healthy profit, but it all hinges on me now to find a part that no one else seemingly
21:11has been able to find so far.
21:12I've got a, you know, a context book.
21:14It reaches globally, so I'm just going to see if I can find this an exhaust.
21:18And if I can, then we're in the profits.
21:21Good luck, mate.
21:24Next, I play hardball to try and bring us closer to Mark's dream car.
21:29You said you'd take an offer.
21:30So how good is this one?
21:31Ready?
21:32£10,000.
21:34No.
21:35But everything hinges on that Honda exhaust.
21:38I've got some good news and some bad news about our Honda motorbike.
21:41We haven't got time for more bad news, mate.
21:51NHS worker Mark has struggled with his health over the past few years, so we'd love to get him his
21:57dream catering seven.
21:58I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, so I ended up having two major bowel operations.
22:04What a shame.
22:05We'll need to raise over £12,000 for the seven, so I've gambled on this classic Honda motorbike.
22:11And I've spent the last few weeks hunting for a replacement exhaust.
22:15Elvis, you've got a minute.
22:16I've got some good news and some bad news about our Honda motorbike.
22:19We haven't got time for more bad news, mate.
22:21I've found one supplier in the UK for the exhaust called David Silver.
22:26He's got a six-month waiting list and it's £1,500.
22:29Why are you saying that with a smile on your face?
22:31Because he's just phoned me and said a customer has returned his exhaust, he no longer needs it, and we
22:36can have it for cost.
22:36That is amazing.
22:38Nice work.
22:38I knew your black book would come in handy.
22:40Just never give up.
22:41That's what I say.
22:42Never give up.
22:44The next morning, I've taken delivery of the exhaust that Mike's found, so all I've got to do now is
22:49get it fitted.
22:55That's the first bit, getting the old one off.
22:58The new exhaust is made to measure, so I just need to connect up those four tailpipes and it should
23:03sit in place perfectly.
23:26It was this four individual tailpipes that made this bike look so unique, and it's already starting to look like
23:33it should do.
23:35Then, it's the moment of truth.
23:40Well, the bike now looks amazing, but it's all very well looking good.
23:44It's got to sound good too, and so I'm going to fire it up and see what those new exhausts,
23:49what they sound like.
23:50Here we go.
23:56Oh, yes!
23:58Straight away as well.
24:01Oh, it's down so good.
24:05Oh, it's amazing.
24:07Oh, I'm so happy.
24:08That is just brilliant.
24:10I kind of want to keep it.
24:13What a bike.
24:15Mike can now put this up for sale for up to eight grand after buying it for just 4,800
24:20plus parts.
24:22With his network of contacts, he should be able to find a collector keen to buy this iconic superbike.
24:31I had a feeling our Honda bike would prove popular, and I was right.
24:35I've had lots of people asking about it online, and I've managed to get it sold.
24:40Oh, look at that.
24:42It's lovely.
24:43These are pictures I've just been sent in from a guy called Andy, who has bought our Honda 750 motorcycle.
24:51Now, I sold him the bike online.
24:53I was hoping he was going to come here and pick it up.
24:55He's asked me to deliver it to him, and now he's received it.
24:58He sent me some pictures of him looking very happy.
25:01I bought it for a guy called Andy, and I've sold it to a guy called Andy, so it's done
25:05a full circle.
25:07Now, the real surprise is I was only hoping to get £7,500 for the bike, but actually it's done
25:13better than that.
25:14I managed to get £8,000 for it.
25:16My gamble on the Honda bike paid off.
25:19I bagged us an exhaust for just £900, and we sold the bike for £8,000,
25:23which means we've got £9,190 in the dream car fund.
25:29Not bad, but we're still three or four grand short of what we need.
25:33I'm desperate to get Mark and his son Tom that caterer, so I've hatched a plan.
25:38Now, today is going to be a good day because I'm on my way to go and see one of
25:41my favourite all-time cars.
25:43I'm talking about a BMW E46 M3.
25:47I've had my eye on it for quite a while.
25:49It's been on the market for ages, this car, and I've worked out why it hasn't sold.
25:53It's got too many personalised modifications on it, and they're things that people don't really like when they're looking through
26:00the adverts.
26:01Now, the car belongs to a guy.
26:02He's had it advertised for a while, so I think he'd be willing to do a deal.
26:06He is asking £13,000 for it.
26:09Now, the truth is, in the pot at the moment, I don't have £13,000.
26:13I've only got £9,000.
26:14But I'm so excited by the prospect of the car that I'm kind of willing to put my own money
26:19in to buy it, if I can buy it.
26:22And then if I sell it in the future, then I'll take my money back out of it.
26:26It's a massive risk.
26:27But I feel it could be the only way we'll ever pay for Mark's Caterham.
26:32I could be in my own little toy shop here, look, Ferrari, California, BMW M3.
26:37That's nice, isn't it?
26:38Isn't that lovely?
26:39But I've come to see this, this E46 BMW M3 Coupe.
26:45Wow.
26:46You must be Sergio.
26:47Hi, Mike.
26:47Sergio, lovely to meet you.
26:49Nice to meet you, too.
26:50And you.
26:50So this is the one, is it?
26:51Yes, it is, indeed.
26:52OK.
26:53Right, BMW E46 M3.
26:56It looks like somebody's had a go at doing some kind of personal modification.
27:00Big wheels, tinted glass, little spoiler on the boot.
27:04This has been made for somebody's specific taste.
27:08And it's not everyone's taste.
27:10You know, you need to lose the tinted glass, that little boot spoiler, change the wheels.
27:14And then it'll probably sell.
27:15Why haven't you done it?
27:16You're a carriage.
27:18It's just time.
27:19Just time.
27:19You've got the time to do it.
27:20I don't have the time to do it.
27:21Would you mind if I take it for a quick spin?
27:23No, I'll be very happy.
27:24The keys are inside already.
27:25Oh, lovely.
27:25I'll be about 15 minutes.
27:27Yeah.
27:27All right.
27:27I'll see you shortly.
27:36Oh, yes, yes, yes!
27:39Yes!
27:40It's got an M badge on it for a reason.
27:42This is BMW's motorsport division.
27:45This is fine-tuned to make sure it's poised, it's balanced, it handles beautifully, and it
27:52rides fantastically, and it gives you all of that power underneath the right foot.
27:57And yet it takes somebody to come along and ruin it all, because they have, with this
28:02car, they've put great big wheels and little iny slick tyres on, and that's compromised
28:07the ride.
28:08Now, Serge is asking 13 and a half grand, he said, but he said that he would take an offer
28:13on that.
28:14But I'm going to go back and be a bit cheeky.
28:15I'm going to go back and aim to get this car for 11 grand.
28:19And that's my target price.
28:20See if I can make it work.
28:27Look at the boss man sitting behind the desk.
28:30Service history.
28:31No, I just got it ready for you.
28:32Spare set of keys.
28:35Well, listen, it drives lovely.
28:36It really does.
28:37It drives really well.
28:38I just think all the stuff has got to come off of it, you know, and that's the only way
28:42I'm going to get that car sold.
28:43So I like it, but I'm going to be a little bit tough with you.
28:47You said 13 and a half on the phone, but you said you'd take an offer.
28:51So how good is this one?
28:52Ready?
28:5410,000.
28:57I'll do 12.
28:5912 grand.
29:00Yes.
29:02I think I can sell it for 12.
29:04I'll meet you in the middle.
29:0511 grand.
29:06That's it.
29:07Come on.
29:08All right.
29:09Yes?
29:10You're a top man.
29:11Thank you for that.
29:11What a cracking deal.
29:1811 grand.
29:1911 grand.
29:20Pretty 46 BMW M3.
29:23Sometimes I even surprise myself.
29:25Yes, I know this car has got a few little issues with it.
29:29Things that we need to sort out, but none of them are mechanical.
29:32At 11 grand, I reckon I've definitely got a profit in this car.
29:36But after topping up the dream car fund with two grand, I really need to get this car sold.
29:43Next, I'm praying my BMW Gamble doesn't backfire.
29:4815,000 pounds.
29:50What do you think?
29:51I'll be up here at 14.
29:52And is Elvis getting above East Station?
29:55It might have found us a car.
29:56That's my job.
30:05We've been flipping cars left and right to try and get NHS worker Marquis's dream Caterham 7.
30:11To reach the 12 grand plus we need, I've put an extra 2,000 pounds into the pot to buy
30:17this heavily modded BMW M3.
30:20It cost a bargain 11 grand.
30:22But if we strip it back, there's money to be made.
30:25Very nice, mate.
30:27Like it?
30:28Very nice.
30:30E46, E46, BMW M3.
30:31I mean, what's not to like?
30:33Love these things.
30:34They're amazing cars.
30:35I mean, how much do you pay for it?
30:36It looks immaculate.
30:3711 grand.
30:38No, that's pretty good.
30:38I think what this car is screaming out for is going back to being original.
30:42So a nice set of original wheels on this car would really help.
30:46Plus, if we did something about the calipers.
30:49The fact they're orange.
30:50Yeah.
30:51Yeah, it doesn't really work in orange, does it?
30:53I agree with you.
30:54I mean, you could change the colour of the calipers.
30:55I mean, BMW used to do that motorsport blue, they called it.
30:59Do you remember that?
30:59Yeah.
31:00I mean, that would look great on those, wouldn't it?
31:01If we had blue calipers, standard wheels, deleted the window tint, got rid of that boot spoiler,
31:06and then done the interior, this could be a 15 grand car quite easily.
31:10Yeah.
31:11All right.
31:11Well, let's go with that, then, mate.
31:12All right.
31:12Well, let's crack on.
31:15There are some jobs I really don't like,
31:18but taking the horrible mods off this beautiful Beamer will be a joy.
31:21First up, the window tints.
31:24Now, typically, they are a film, like a dark film applied to the inside,
31:29so start warming it up and hopefully you're going to peel it off easily.
31:33There's two tips here.
31:35One is to take your time, don't rush it,
31:37and the other is to use the heat gun to heat up the area ahead of where you're peeling off.
31:43So heat up the next bit that you're about to peel,
31:45and it should just gradually peel away.
31:51There we go.
31:53That's very satisfying, that is.
31:55I'm also going to use the heat gun to get the spoiler off.
31:58It's bonded on with glue,
31:59so with a blast of hot air and some gentle persuasion,
32:02it should come off.
32:04Come on.
32:06Oh, yes!
32:07There we go!
32:08Oh, my goodness.
32:10There's no way that was flying off down the motorway, is there?
32:14Blimey, that is some pretty impressive glue.
32:17That's going to need a clean-up, but it's going to look much better.
32:24With a bit of elbow grease, the glue's off, and then it's on to the final job.
32:32Now, the value of this car is in its originality.
32:35Although it pains me to say it, these 19-inch aftermarket rims have got to go.
32:40But it's not all bad news, because they're in great condition.
32:43They've got a brand new set of tyres on as well,
32:45so it will be worth a considerable some money.
32:48I'll repaint the calipers in BMW's own motorsport blue
32:52to complement the silver bodywork.
32:54With new wheels on, it can go up for sale.
32:57Now, in its original state, we can hopefully get 15 grand for it.
33:05Today is a day of mixed emotions for me.
33:07It's never easy saying goodbye to a cracking car like this BMW M3.
33:11And the good news is, whatever we've taken off of it,
33:15which is the wheels and the trim,
33:17I put those up online, and I managed to sell it all for £1,020.
33:21And then, I bought an original set of wheels and tyres
33:25and some new trim for the inside.
33:27And I spent, yeah, £1,020.
33:30So we're level where we are with spending.
33:33Now, I just need to make a profit.
33:35This chap behind me, he's called Jim.
33:37He's come down and looked at the car.
33:38On behalf of his son-in-law,
33:40I've just taken him for a test drive
33:41and he's been grinning from ear to ear.
33:44So let's see if I can put a deal together.
33:47So then, Jim, you still like what you see?
33:49Oh, yes.
33:49This is for your son-in-law?
33:51It is, yes.
33:52So he's given you authority to go and do a deal on his behalf, has he?
33:56He has, yeah.
33:57OK.
33:58And I think I've got it out there
33:59at a really good market price at £15,000.
34:04What do you think?
34:05I'll be up here at £14,000.
34:07It's not even your mummy.
34:09If I don't sell it to you,
34:11I'm going to sell it to somebody else tomorrow.
34:13It's that good a car.
34:15So, unfortunately, it's got to be £15,000 or nothing.
34:19I think that's what it's got to be.
34:22OK.
34:22Yes.
34:23Lovely.
34:23Got yourself a cracking car.
34:25Well done.
34:26As I hope, the M3 was a masterstroke.
34:29We sold it for £15,000,
34:31which means we've been able to recoup the £2,000 I added to the trading pot.
34:36And we're still left with £13,190 in our dream car fund.
34:42So that means we've done it,
34:43and we can now finally start looking for a catering for Mark.
34:47Mate, quick one.
34:48Yeah.
34:49How much money have we got in the pot for Mark's catering at the moment?
34:52Well, funny you should mention that.
34:53I've just been going through the spreadsheet.
34:54We are at a very healthy £13,000.
34:58That is really good,
34:59because I might have found us a car.
35:01That's my job.
35:01I know it is,
35:03but I've phoned around a few of my mates in the catering world,
35:05and I've found one.
35:06It's cheap.
35:07It's not the right colour either,
35:08because he wanted the yellow one, didn't he?
35:09His son wanted the yellow one.
35:10Well, it's not yellow,
35:11and because it's cheap,
35:13I mean, I don't know,
35:13there might be some things wrong with it,
35:14but it's cheap enough that I think it's worth going to see.
35:16Lovely.
35:17Give me the address.
35:18I'll go and have a look.
35:18Well, I was thinking I might go and have a look at it.
35:20Well, keep me informed.
35:21Let me know how it goes.
35:22I'll let you know.
35:23Nice one.
35:25Caterings usually get bashed around on the racetrack,
35:27so it's rare to find a decent example.
35:30But this one looks in good nick,
35:32so I'm happy to make the three-hour journey up north to have a look.
35:35It's been a huge amount of work for Mike and I
35:38to get from Mark's Honda Civic
35:39to right here in Preston,
35:41where I'm about to meet Julian.
35:43Julian's a friend of a friend
35:44who's selling a Caterham 7
35:45at a price that we can afford.
35:48A price so good, in fact,
35:49that I'm a little bit wary
35:50about how much work it might take
35:52to turn it into the car of Mark's dreams.
35:55Julian.
35:56Hi, mate.
35:58How are you doing?
35:59Oh, great.
35:59You?
35:59Yeah, very well.
36:00Look at this.
36:01I see you're a man after my own heart.
36:03You've got racing cars in your garage.
36:04That's the dream.
36:05Absolutely, yeah.
36:06Yeah, racing's in the blood.
36:07Well, what's the story then?
36:08You've got two of them.
36:09Well, I've had this for a number of years now
36:10and absolutely loved it.
36:12I loved it so much,
36:13I basically decided to do the Caterham Academy this year
36:16with a group of friends.
36:17So you're going racing?
36:18So I'm racing.
36:18And that means that the one that you used to use on the road
36:21is surplus requirements?
36:22It's basically surplus requirements now, yeah.
36:23They are brilliant cars.
36:25I mean, it takes me back
36:26because this is where I started my motorsport journey.
36:28I must have built 20 of these things.
36:29Is there anything wrong with it
36:30that I need to know about before I start poking around?
36:32No, it's been really well looked after.
36:34It's a really clean car.
36:35Mechanically, it's sound.
36:36Mind if I pop the bonnet off?
36:38Feel free.
36:39Oh, there we go.
36:39Look at that.
36:40It's nice and tidy in there.
36:41How's it drive?
36:43The only one way to find out.
36:49It's been a long time
36:50since I've been back behind the wheel
36:51at one of these things.
36:57Oh, my goodness.
36:59Come straight back.
37:02Oh, what a feeling.
37:03The wind's rushing through your hair.
37:08If you are going to buy a Caterham,
37:10and you definitely should
37:11because they're just awesome,
37:14find one that's been well looked after
37:15like this one has.
37:17It's got a full service history.
37:19Many of these things
37:20have been taken to racetracks
37:22and those cars,
37:23well, they get a slightly harder life.
37:25This one sounds fine, though.
37:27And at 12.5 grand,
37:28that leaves us around 1,000 pounds left
37:30in our kitty that we've managed to accumulate
37:32to spend on it.
37:34And whilst there's no major mechanical work to do,
37:37it's in great condition,
37:38I think I do know exactly
37:39where I'm going to put that money.
37:49How was it?
37:50I mean, I love it.
37:51Oh, goodness me.
37:52They're just brilliant.
37:53I mean, they're amazing.
37:55I've forgotten how much fun they were to drive.
37:57They are great, aren't they?
37:58Absolutely great.
37:58Just brilliant.
37:59I mean, you're asking 12,500 for it, right?
38:02Yeah, 12,500.
38:03I love it so much.
38:04I can't get rid of the smile on my face.
38:06I'm not even going to argue with you.
38:07I'll take it.
38:08Great.
38:08Thanks, mate.
38:09I can't believe it.
38:11Thanks, buddy.
38:14Mark's son, Tom,
38:15told Mike his favourite colour catering is yellow.
38:17With the money left over in our dream car fund,
38:20we can add that colour.
38:21So I've put in a call to Henry,
38:22our brilliant vinyl car wrapper.
38:26Hello, mate.
38:27How are we doing?
38:29Yeah, good, good.
38:30Well, this is the thing I was telling you about, mate,
38:33which to me looks like an absolute nightmare to wrap
38:35because, I mean, these things look like idiots.
38:38Yeah, they're not the easiest things to wrap.
38:42That is what I was talking about.
38:44Can you turn that into something like that?
38:47Come with me.
38:48We'll have a look.
38:49All right.
38:55A wrap is not only cheaper than a paint job,
38:57it can also be easily removed
38:59if Mark wants to revert to the car's original colour.
39:02Plus, the bodywork underneath
39:04will still be in pristine condition.
39:07Our catering is starting to look fantastic.
39:09And the sooner we get it done, of course,
39:10the sooner I can show Mike
39:11and then we can hand it over to Mark.
39:14And I know he's going to love it.
39:16But will Mike, as he hates yellow cars so much.
39:21It's been a long old journey since I first met Mark.
39:24Today, I've laid on a special catering meet
39:27in Chepstow, South Wales
39:28and invited Mark and his son, Tom.
39:31They think they're coming for a catch-up,
39:33so they have no idea
39:34they'll soon be driving back home
39:36in their very own Catering 7.
39:38Well, the cars are all set up
39:40on my little catering event.
39:41Mark and Tom, they're on their way down
39:43and Elvis is on his way in
39:45with that little catering.
39:46And guess what?
39:46I haven't even seen the car yet.
39:48I can't wait!
39:54Oh, yes.
39:55Oh, mate, you've absolutely nailed that.
39:58Honestly, sometimes you just blow me away.
40:01I mean, I know you hate yellow cars,
40:02but how about this?
40:03It suits it, doesn't it?
40:03I don't mind it being in yellow
40:05because it's not for me.
40:06I haven't got to drive it.
40:07But it looks blooming brilliant, doesn't it?
40:08It's more than I expected,
40:10I'll be honest with you.
40:10What's it drive like?
40:11Oh, man, I've never not wanted
40:13to hand a car over more than this one.
40:14It's so good.
40:15It's just, you're so connected to the road.
40:17I mean, Mark's going to love it.
40:18He will love it.
40:19And this is the last chance for him
40:20for him to go and enjoy a car like this
40:22and, well, he can enjoy it
40:24with some of his new friends here.
40:26Look at this.
40:26I was just going to say,
40:27you have smashed this, mate.
40:28What a set-up.
40:29Hey, I can organise a little car show
40:31whenever you want one.
40:32It's absolutely brilliant.
40:33Lovely people, lovely cars.
40:35I can't wait to show this stuff to Mark.
40:37Yeah?
40:37Love it, love it, love it.
40:37All right, well, you go up that way.
40:39I'll get ready.
40:44There you are, Mark.
40:45And you've got Tom with you.
40:47Lovely.
40:47Hi, Mark. Nice to see you again.
40:48Good to see you.
40:49You all right, Tom?
40:50Well, look what I've arranged for you.
40:51Hey, proper little car show.
40:53Unreal.
40:53Isn't this nice?
40:54Do you want to come and see some cars?
40:55Hey, that's why we're here, isn't it?
40:56You can see it's a lovely community of people
40:58that have come down and bought their cars,
41:00but what do you think it would do to you
41:02to have your very own Caterham 7?
41:04I think, well, for him,
41:06you'd be chilling off with your friends in school,
41:08but just open another sort of thing for us to do.
41:12So car meets and things like that,
41:14whereas, you know,
41:15you only want to rock up in a Honda Civic.
41:17No.
41:17Remember when we went to the Caterham factory?
41:19Do you remember that time?
41:20Yeah, yeah, yeah.
41:20And we were looking around the cars.
41:22You said to me...
41:23It was you.
41:24You said that you'd like a yellow Caterham.
41:27Yeah.
41:27Well, as you can see,
41:28there's no yellow cars here,
41:29but look at that little yellow Caterham.
41:31Do you like that?
41:32Yeah.
41:33That's your dream car.
41:34Yes.
41:34But for you, Mark,
41:36this is your dream car.
41:44You're shaking like a leaf,
41:45like me there.
41:46Hey, come and have a look.
41:47This is Elvis.
41:49How you doing, Mark?
41:49It's Elvis,
41:50who's done all the work in the workshop.
41:51Hello, mate.
41:52So we could trade this up for you.
41:54We know that this is your sort of last chance saloon.
41:57You know, you wanted to enjoy a car with your son.
42:00Mate, I can see how much it means to you.
42:03And I can promise you,
42:04when you do get behind the wheel of that,
42:05that is going to tell.
42:06It's the biggest smile you've ever had on your face.
42:09Lots of words.
42:09Bit different to that old Honda Civic.
42:12Yeah.
42:12Yeah, we've come a long way from that Honda Civic.
42:14That's why I'm in tears,
42:15is because of the Honda Civic
42:17and what we've been through.
42:19But look, you deserve it.
42:20We've been delighted to do it for you.
42:23So from me and Elvis,
42:25this is your dream car.
42:27Thank you, Mark.
42:30I'm happy I've got mine.
42:33Right then, guys, enjoy that car.
42:35That could have got any better, could it?
42:37Off you go.
42:38Well done, fellas.
42:40Nice one.
42:40Enjoy it.
42:41Nice one.
42:43Hey, that was emotional.
42:45It was very emotional.
42:46And that's what it's all about,
42:47making dreams come true.
42:48He's going to have so much fun with that.
42:51Wow.
42:51What an incredible moment
42:52for both Mark and for Tom.
42:55It was a delight to hand over
42:56that wonderful catering.
42:57It is his dream car.
42:59And you can see with all that emotion,
43:01it really did matter.
43:07Wow.
43:09Mike, you might not like yellow,
43:10but that car puts a smile on my face
43:12every time I get in it.
43:14And I can't thank you and Elvis
43:16and everyone on the show
43:17enough for what you've given me.
43:19It is a dream come true.
43:21And just thank you so, so much.
43:40We'll see you next time.
