Hear the astronauts who circled the moon aboard the Artemis II describe the awe and joy they felt from bringing the world together while farther away from it than any other human in history.

00:00The thing that might be hardest to convey, no matter what the platform, would be how much it meant to
00:07us to bring everyone along with us and how much it meant to us to hear that the mission had
00:15an impact.
00:15I cannot overstate how important that was to us. It was every bit as important as accomplishing the technical goals
00:25and being there for our NASA teammates was to make this the world's mission.
00:29We're all kind of struck by these things that make us feel small and that the sense I had was
00:34the sense of fragility and feeling small, infinitesimally small, but yet this very powerful feeling as a human being, like
00:45as a group, small and powerless, but yet powerful together.
00:48When we were getting really close to the moon, talking about looking at you and how beautiful Earth is, that
00:55represents how far we were, but it shows you. I cannot overstress that. We did this together.
01:03When we came home, we were shocked at the global outpouring of support, of pride, of ownership of this mission.
01:10And really, I think at the beginning, that's what the four of us wanted. We wanted to go out and
01:13try to do something that would bring the world together, to unite the world.
01:16And I can tell you that the difference now, is when we come before you now, we've done this together.
01:23We took your hearts with us, and your hearts lifted our hearts.
01:28And what I've seen has brought me more joy, but more hope for our future. And I just can't wait
01:36to see what we do with it next.
