Actor/comedian Akaash Singh stopped by our studios Wednesday to visit The Carton Show with Chris McMonigle!
Transcript
00:00an evening show dude that's honestly it's another six thousand tickets just selling this one is the
00:05most stressful thing i've ever done i was just saying i'm friends with a lot of comics um and
00:09it's one thing to sell out like the theater at the garden yeah great accomplishment yeah and then
00:14you're like i sold out the theater i sold out radio city i sold out all these great venues in
00:18new york but it's it's nerve-wracking it's so nerve-wracking right so six thousand seats so i
00:23had a theater in in toronto that which is my bet they love me out there which is great but
00:27it's
00:27like we added we did six shows sold seven thousand tickets which is awesome yeah but each theater is
00:32like a thousand seats so if you add a show there if 400 people show up it seems not that
00:38bad feels
00:38empty though well let's say 800 people show up that's great yeah if 800 people show up to radio
00:43city you're in trouble i'm killing myself yeah so it's like three thousand people is a big number
00:48but you walk into a six thousand seat theater it's half full you're like this guy's a loser yeah i
00:52was
00:53talking to chris de stefano about the garden because he sold out the theater a few times yeah yeah
00:57and then he was going to take it to the big room yeah madison square garden which is obviously
01:01everyone's goal and dream yeah but it's it's even in the round it's still 17 000 people it's insane
01:07and about a week in he called me up and he goes we're back in the theater
01:13he was so miserable because he's like he's very popular he's great yeah he's the best i love him
01:17and he's a great dude but he's like 18 000 you sit there you call your agent or maybe you
01:22have access
01:23to the back door of it and you're like man another 100 that's it yeah like 100 is nothing yes
01:29it is
01:30nothing i'm so indian i would calculate percentages so like 100 sales is such a big if my friends like
01:36i'm buying 100 tickets what a guy yeah but that's less than one percent of what it's like point zero
01:40two percent or whatever like all right this sucks that must be a special calculator it's oh no it's
01:45just an indian mad live phone dude i don't have that calculator yeah i felt the same way i wrote
01:49a book
01:49uh years ago and it's like people read it about yeah and it's like he feels exactly so the publisher
01:55goes to me because i wanted to know because like ego comes into this whole thing like why do it
01:59of course and they go well first run it's 10 800 copies and i'm like well show was pretty popular
02:05i was in the mornings with boomer at the time right here and i'm like i feel like that's a
02:09number
02:09i can maybe reach yeah and if you get to like half of it you're a new york time bestseller
02:13and that's the only goal you want to be a new york time bestseller absolutely and i was not
02:17all right right and i i take my kids out of school early we go to barnes and noble in
02:22tribeca
02:22and i'm like this is a great moment my wife my kids we walk in my book comes out that
02:27day
02:27the if the only place i'm more famous than new york city would be my parents living room right
02:34and we go in do you have loud mouth no
02:40i call simon schuster up i go you said today right
02:45and they go yeah yeah it's doing great i go no it's not it's not in barnes and noble
02:51they go we didn't tell you we're in a big fight with the publisher they're not taking any of our
02:55new releases so it became so it was actually the best case scenario is it's because of them
03:02not because barnes and noble was like i don't want this who's this guy i tried that it didn't work
03:06yeah it's like you want a sequel like no we're good oh yeah that yeah that's also an ego but
03:11but you wrote a book which is what people keep telling me is like not many comedians get to do
03:15radio city just stefano's on a short list yes especially in our class that was part of why i
03:20took this leap normally we'll do like the smaller theaters i consult my wife a lot of stuff and it's
03:24like let's just play it like the beacon would have been 2800 right i would have been adding my
03:28second show there but it just didn't feel special radio city felt special and now i regret it so much
03:34because the pressure i mean indians do everything late and a lot of my audience is indian so i think
03:39knock on wood god willing and hopefully y'all buy tickets as well but like not you guys y'all
03:43are
03:43comped everybody else buy tickets but uh you got something to do now yeah perfect but it's like
03:47just oh there's so much stress i'm gonna enjoy having done radio city 100 doing it yeah like so
03:54when you having not done it yet like you have your set act you have an hour plus whatever it
03:58is
03:58do you think when you walk out on that stage you'll be in your head a little bit or can
04:03you
04:03go into robot mode and just go i want to act like i'm not going to be in my head
04:07but i'm gonna be so
04:07in my head yeah i know this and you just drugs for that though yeah well hey i'm all in
04:12i'm a big guy
04:13when it comes to all that stuff so i didn't i didn't really discover you until you got together
04:17with andrew schultz yeah right like the fearless podcast it's awesome yeah thank you um and it's we're
04:22in like the new world of of comedians media yeah your podcast obviously you can be a star overnight
04:27like i'm real tired like paul verzi who just got his podcast picked up yeah a lot of new york
04:32local
04:32comics like chris and like paul the man and when i started looking into more your stuff as a solo
04:37act
04:37as just a touring comic you just made a comment that rang a bell with me which is you have
04:42like
04:43significant indian audiences yeah yeah and i i don't know where those clubs are well any city within
04:50it toronto's got a lot of indians so they'll they'll come out i'll sell the most tickets ever
04:53in toronto you will but in new york i'm hoping comes through but it's like middle america it's
04:59so but you're like their guy i hope so honestly that's what i've always wanted is to be not only
05:04for us but i want indian people to look at and be like that guy gets us right he's for
05:09us
05:09and yeah not like as a demo like not exploiting a demographic but like yo he's proud of who he
05:15is and
05:15he loves that and i don't want non-south asians to be like i don't understand what he's saying right
05:20you don't want big mac to show up be like i don't think so my goal is you guys and
05:23i think this is
05:24what i've hit you guys will show up and be like that's a really funny show there's a couple things
05:26he said that i didn't really understand but contextually i still enjoyed it even in those
05:30moments he's like i gotta find an indian friend call him off what do you mean by that i get
05:34the
05:34non-joke it doesn't make no sense like that yeah yeah yeah exactly yeah uh you go to ticketmaster.com
05:40or the radio city box office yeah or my website it's uh yep uh what's the website uh akash singh
05:45.com
05:45but it's spelled a-k-a-a-s-h a-k-a-a-s-h do you ever think of
05:49changing that or no just make it easier
05:51for the website never never never your parents make it easier for the white people i can't do that
05:55like i want to go to the show but i can't spell the damn thing yeah yeah your parents would
05:59have
05:59killed you anyway they already i'm not a doctor they already are disappointed so who cares but you did
06:04say you're good at math so you got one out of the two i'm okay i'm not good enough obviously
06:07i find it
06:08interesting when you're going to go on a tour as you guys do and how you name the tour right
06:15and i
06:15was looking for your show at radio city yeah it's uh the akash singh generational triumph tour yeah
06:22yeah and i'm trying to figure out what was the second place name that you there was no other
06:29there is no other this is the one generation i hear a lot of immigrant kids talk about generational
06:34trauma right and it always kind of annoyed me and i explained why i think toward the end i had
06:38to
06:39think about like why does it bother me when we talk about this because we make it about like our
06:41trauma and it's like man you could think politically whatever you want to i'm not even getting into
06:45that but just we have so much opportunity here because we're all immigrant kids whoever however
06:50many generations back and whoever brought you to this country you got to think about the trauma they
06:54went through to get you here sure and that's kind of it's i don't want to be too heavy-handed
06:59though the whole show i want to be really funny and not like a one-man show thing but
07:02that's kind of a thing i want to hammer home at least a little bit now you one of the
07:06guys that
07:07you'll go practice parts of the act at small little comedy clubs you have to outside of new
07:12york just to see what works what doesn't work you don't know if a joke is funny the first time
07:16you
07:16do it it takes polishing it takes like a special i used to think chris rock just went out there
07:20and
07:20said all that stuff right now he's been working on it for years how long how long does it take
07:24you
07:24to get an hour together tour this one i've been polishing since 2024 okay and uh a lot of stuff
07:30came to me quickly but i just want to make it better and better and better i'm filming my
07:33special in october i'm hoping it's better than it was today i'm hoping you'll see like a new bit in
07:38there or like oh that is funnier this time than it was yeah yeah do you ever get through the
07:42hour
07:42and then get to the close or have a different close than you expected crowds react to a joke
07:46that sometimes yeah you're doing editing up there your best and your clothes was something you never
07:50thought it would have been well i don't know about the clothes you're necessarily changing but
07:54you'll tweak as you're going through like okay i know you talk about robot mode and it's like
07:59whenever i'm in robot mode i'm i feel like i'm doing a disservice to them i have to even if
08:03you're
08:03not talking we're having a conversation i'm listening to you laugh i'm listening to what
08:07you're what what's making you go what's making you not go if i feel i can feel like if you're
08:12getting tired i can hear the laughs at the end of the show they're getting a little tired i'll cut
08:15it short you know what i mean like you're just constantly trying to be present a pivot on the
08:18fly i told i've told the story a few times so i apologize for telling it again you know we
08:22uh we did a
08:22show at the beacon after hurricane sandy right so we sell out the beacon we have every major east coast
08:27comic yeah who did us a favor they're all friends and they did it on the arm raising a bunch
08:32of
08:32money for hurricane relief right awesome so i had a buddy named tyrone johnson who does about the
08:36podcast with me in the morning now and he was a wannabe stand-up comic and to be fair he
08:41had five
08:42brilliant minutes he didn't have six but he had like people know how hard it is to do five minutes
08:48right let alone an hour so i said this is gonna be your big break and i'm happy to give
08:51it to you
08:52you have every major comic in the east coast in the building and every agent like frosty's there
08:57and uh well you know the guys right so they're all there right and i go just do the five
09:02minutes
09:02don't do anything else yeah and i promise you one of these guys is gonna sign you don't get greedy
09:07as like a project that you have a shot right yeah so as he's walking out on stage all right
09:13he sees
09:14ralph macchio in the crowd and ralph is a buddy who's there to support the hurricane relief thing
09:19and his mind goes yeah right and he says the first thing out of his mouth on stage he goes
09:25man i just saw ralph macchio in the crowd me and my friends have a pact if any one of
09:30us ever meets
09:31ralph macchio we're gonna say this to you ralph macchio you don't even know karate and that's the
09:38exact reaction he got but then because people are drunk and i've never seen this before maybe you have
09:44they start throwing things at them all right you're talking three thousand people who are pissed
09:50and by the way it's already lying it's jay moore it's colin quinn like there's never been a better
09:56lineup of new york comics for one night right he go first no no no oh that's no you can't
10:02do that to
10:03him you can't do that to him well how do you think the guy after him felt you gotta get
10:07the room
10:07back right so yeah and then he starts flop sweating he never gets into the five minutes
10:16i've got to pull him off stage so he comes off to the side of the stage they're cursing him
10:21out
10:21they're throwing crap at him jay moore's right there the side of the stage all right and jay moore says
10:26tyrone dude trust me every guy on this stage multiple times has had a mo a bad moment or tanked
10:33or been pulled off and there's a pregnant pause and he goes but not that bad
10:41and he hasn't done state of sense you can't do it if this is so traumatic i've been the first
10:45time
10:46i bombed i didn't talk the next day i was just like devastated i didn't get on stage for a
10:50year
10:50and a half after that i bet because like i put all this work into it i think it's hysterical
10:55that's why you can never work out your material with your friends or your family because they're
10:58gonna blow smoke up your ass oh yeah right have you been on are you sports fan yeah big big
11:04got
11:04it so some people think basketball got it all right so you're definitely aware of the mike vrabel
11:10diana racini story yeah dude yeah uh she obviously uh one of the six friends and is it time to
11:17come
11:18out and say that you well i so here's the thing so my wife and i got into this whole
11:21thing that was
11:22like she's on social media i'm i don't get offended by jokes she makes she doesn't get offended by jokes
11:27i make but she says crazy stuff i say crazy stuff and then everybody there was just like a clip
11:31that
11:31came out of everything she said out of context yes and so people just started saying all this
11:35stuff about her and running with all these narratives so i'm like sensitive with the
11:39vrabel thing even though it seems like he might have been stepping out etc i'm like appears that way
11:43and then the way she diana racini was i assume joking about her husband a lot a lot which my
11:50wife
11:50will do similar jokes but like i know her we are each other's only like love we've only had sex
11:55with
11:55each other like i don't care what you say right i don't know if her husband feels that way but
11:59i
11:59know what how ruthless people are and i'm like ee yeah i feel for and that but if she's stepping
12:06out
12:06now it's a whole different thing it's kind of hard to claim you're not stepping out like other than
12:12your wife how many women have you interlocked fingers with yeah i know at a greeting yeah yeah
12:17yeah right yeah interlocked maybe you and schultz do it i don't know it's possible
12:20there's no no no no i love you and if i saw pictures of her with the that's the other
12:26thing
12:26i had to think about when i was like man people are going so hard on i was like yeah
12:29but there's
12:30proof there's no proof with my wife it's been six months there's no if there was an interlocked
12:33pictures yeah interlocked fingers picture yeah now i might be commenting along with everybody
12:38she's dead she's dead you know what i mean and by the way if you have six friends produce them
12:43yeah like once you come out and say you guys got it all wrong i there were six people not
12:48in the
12:49picture like i would hope that i have six friends that are good enough to me and loyal enough to
12:53me
12:53to be like i wasn't there but sure okay you can tell people i was there i'll have a press
12:59conference
13:00i was with them i just wasn't in the picture can you now leave me alone yeah so they did
13:05a bad job
13:06with that why do you guys think it blew up so much um a b a because it's football related
13:12b because she was very popular and obviously other we don't know how she's getting all her
13:18stories we've kind of learned was she like a shifter like i didn't watch a lot of nfl she's
13:24making seven figures doing it for the athletic she's the highest paid sports reporter she's one
13:28of the premier but listen we look we happen to love scandals when they don't involve us especially
13:33marital i realize right it's cheating patriots they just went to the super bowl like any box you want
13:38to check it checks every box man like laying by the jacuzzi and then you find out it's two g's
13:44a
13:45night and everyone's only a room for two side holding hands it's crazy to cheat that brazenly yeah
13:52well and then you gotta figure who paid the dude with the camera because that wasn't just i took
13:56the big mac if you and i are walking by the pool and we see rob stewart we might take
14:02our iphone
14:02oh right yeah yeah but it doesn't look like those photos like those are professional that was a hit
14:07job yeah oh and as the story goes they didn't even know who she was that someone who's rabble was
14:14cheating on his wife and they were trying to catch him and that's why team z might have said no
14:19to it
14:19at first and then it turns out no no we know that girl that's dana rossini yeah and then yeah
14:25out of
14:25bomb do you think there's like an element of like journal you guys are journalists is it like
14:30she's undeservedly getting this level of she's getting well i think fame access money whatever
14:37i think she was getting dragged unnecessarily at the beginning but like the thing you reference like
14:42every one of those podcasts and radio show appearances where she's just emasculating her
14:48husband yeah it made her less likable okay and then when you say you guys have it all wrong i
14:53was
14:53here with my girlfriends on a hiking trip but none of the girls exist yeah like i don't know if
14:57your
14:57wife ever goes out with the girls very rarely okay but in the in the case that she has girlfriends
15:02yeah has there ever been a moment where she didn't come back with a photo of them together doing
15:06something no it's impossible she'll post it every time right they can't not post a picture it's the
15:10dna yeah like we don't post anything vagina post stuff which is also why it's undefeated everything
15:18yes yes penis don't post jj posts all the time yeah dude oh i'm so glad you can say vagina
15:27that
15:27makes me so happy i didn't know what i couldn't and by the way we'd be posting different things
15:31anyway yeah it'd be me taking a bite of another burger yeah like i know i think you're cheating
15:35i'm just eating another burger it's all i swear it's all i'm not even taking a picture every picture
15:39i take on vacation is because my wife wants to take a picture that's the point so when she goes
15:44now i was hiking with the girls there's not a single picture which means you weren't hiking
15:48with the girls interlock fingers is also very i mean there's no there's nothing not even tough
15:53it's like you're guilty now there's no who was the uh the first comedy album i'm dating myself
15:58for comedy bit you heard when you were younger that made you that made you think memory yeah like
16:03i could do this i remember listening to because you said album eddie murphy greatest hits my friend
16:09played the uh the the not ice cream man the bigfoot uh your wife's a bigfoot isn't she gus
16:15family barbecue yep my friends and i were crying laughing and i didn't even i had seen chris rock
16:20bring the pain really loved it chris rock is one of my idols but like that the way we were
16:23laughing
16:24at that i remember being like wow i didn't understand how this could bring everybody together
16:28right and i didn't think about being a stand-up then but that always i just remembered like how the
16:32one album listening to it i'm not even seeing it right just listening we're crying laughing
16:37and it's bringing us together like this is crazy yeah what is it like like as you're trying to come
16:41up with material because i always wonder about this when you're stand-up like and literally every
16:44aspect of your life every trip somewhere grocery store whatever like is it a constant kind of like
16:50hunting for something funny something in everyday life no i don't necessarily hunt for it okay i i don't
16:56think i do but my brain and this is not a brag it's not a good thing like if you're
17:00in any religion
17:01this is what you don't want it's constantly going okay i can't turn it off right so i'm just analyzing
17:06everything i'll have a conversation this conversation i'm going to analyze right two
17:09weeks later i'm gonna be like oh you know what about diana russini this right and then it's just
17:13always moving and then sometimes you'll just have a little like revelation that's like oh i think this
17:17could be a premise for stand-up okay um like my opener is about how like women are very complicated
17:22and if you don't understand that or make an attempt to understand that you're not gonna it's gonna be
17:26hard to have a healthy relationship right i got that because my sister-in-law was uh going through a
17:31divorce and i was like oh this this is a lot of the issue he doesn't get like she's a
17:35complicated
17:36person you're not going to be with a woman who's and then i was like there's something there that
17:39could be a bit and then i left it out yeah sure she appreciates being uh part of the bit
17:43yeah no i
17:44didn't say sister-in-law until just now and you know what as i was saying that sentence here i
17:48was
17:49like oh i probably should have said who my my buddy's sister i don't know i got a few sister
17:57-in-law
17:58so it's like kasha sing gonna be at radio city if you want to get tickets go to his website
18:02you can obviously go to ticket master you can also go don't buy from third party people i didn't
18:06realize that i was famous enough for that is there's a secondary market there's third party
18:10resellers i don't know what scams that is people show up to shows and they're like i bought tickets
18:14i can't get in so go to my website for the legit tickets that's crazy yeah ak double a that's
18:19pretty
18:19cool though also it is cool like it is cool you go to bed with a smile on your face
18:23when you hear that
18:24your tickets are being scalped you know as you know as crazy as i got a like a like some
18:29credit
18:29card sends me like deals and there was a deal for my show use our card and you get this
18:34percent back
18:34and it's a picture of me yeah and i was like oh that is cool it's like uh it's a
18:38cool thing i've also
18:39realized this whole thing my wife fame kind of sucks but like that is cool like oh wow that's a
18:43you should appreciate that yeah definitely yeah also it gets you a free ticket to go to a nick game
18:48and be on the jumbo truck yeah well that's part of the deal oh oh oh that it is part
18:54of the deal
18:54i didn't even think about that yes and the knicks by the way uh so you're performing saturday night
18:59yeah uh well the knicks are playing uh saturday at six what time is your show 7 30 so maybe
19:06first
19:06half yeah maybe not watch the first half hopefully it's a blowout god willing it's a blowout i don't
19:11care who's winning or who's not but they also play monday so if you stay in town saturday game
19:16has i'm so out of saturday monday so nicks play the atlanta hawks saturday at six is that game one
19:21though is that yeah okay thank god and then they play monday night but part of the deal is if
19:25you
19:25perform at any of the msg buildings and radio city is one of them that all you have to do
19:30is pick up
19:30the phone and call and ask and you'll be sitting not courtside because that's where i sit but
19:35you'll you'll you'll you'll be there yeah yeah like the severer tells a great story because now that
19:43he's done some events at the garden he thought he was gonna sit we call it on the wood like
19:47on the
19:47court yeah yeah like next to james dole and next to all the celebrities and tracy morgan's and we
19:51get you pregnant right on yeah and he wasn't he was in a sweet 500 feet above the floor no
19:57and he
19:57was like yeah the beer is free but i want to be down on the floor yeah i'm good dude
20:01i'm good i'm
20:02i'm born and raised in dallas so i'm sadly a mavs fan uh yeah which is very painful after the
20:07luca
20:07so when they traded luca what was your immediate reaction i couldn't believe it dude i then like a
20:11comic that was with me i was there's not many comics who know sports he kept trying to talk to
20:14me
20:14about it and i was like i don't want i have no words i don't want to talk i couldn't
20:19understand
20:19it's the worst trade in sports history like a state of depression yeah and i'm gonna have to
20:23be a cowboy fan i've given up on them yeah i'm looking for another team i just can't find one
20:27but
20:27like the maps i had we had luca and now cooper flag i think is gonna be incredible he might
20:33even end up
20:33being better the first pick in the draft to make up for it yeah i do think it was rigged
20:37a thousand
20:37percent and i think the draft has always been rigged yeah i agree and i feel we deserved it i'm
20:41like no we
20:42needed that because that wasn't our fault that was one gm who didn't like luca and i hate that man
20:46and he's i hate i love anytime i hear he gets like i heard a restaurant wouldn't serve him in
20:51dallas
20:51yeah they hate that guy i love that yeah i love that and they and they kept him on to
20:56be abused for
20:56like the rest of the year until they eventually fired him the new owners are trash dude cuban needs
21:01to buy it back uh he says he wants to well you know the adelson's bought it because they want
21:05to
21:05open up a casino if texas ever approves casinos absolutely and they wanted the real estate and i think
21:09they're gonna get it done because i mean this woman seems to get anything she wants yeah it's
21:13nice to marry into wealth yeah it's nice to me i mean dude the woman can just literally start a
21:16war
21:16it's like whatever you know what i mean let's just do that i don't even want to get too political
21:20my husband was rich he's dead now but yeah so now it's just me i get to do whatever i
21:25want how's iran
21:26feeling these days you need any reference yeah casinos there yeah by the way if you don't think
21:32there's gonna be a casino in iran one day yeah yeah then it's gonna be it's gonna be gaza rock
21:40first and then it's gonna be one in iran dude patrick dumont looks so stupid too i just hate his
21:45dumb face i hate him so much married into wealth i know it ain't his money i know right which
21:51is by
21:52the way not a bad play to be fair like i know you and your wife it's true love like
21:56two comics there
21:57was no guarantee you guys were ever going to do well financially right yeah yeah right you love your
22:01wife sarah she's a wonderful woman who's a school teacher right right my wife was in sales at the
22:05time we met and all that right yeah but you know there was no guarantee that we'd have money yeah
22:11which is the question is can you take one for the team like is there an amount of money where
22:16you can
22:17every night make love to that ugly woman right because you might one day become patrick dumont like
22:29i see how you get along with stand-ups i 100 because that is like that's a harsh premise but
22:35a stand-up would be like there's something there how do i polish that yeah and make it funny that
22:39was
22:39incredible i appreciate that so good times ended on a high note it's good meeting man great meeting
22:46this is a blast man one other question yeah i've never been there yet my son went there a couple
22:50weeks
22:50ago have you played rogan's room in austin yeah that's the the mothership yeah i didn't do great
22:55no because joe joe was like come do joe and friends and then joe watches and like kind of
23:00like a kill tony kind of thing uh no he doesn't judge he just like he loves comedies he's watching
23:05yeah and then to somebody told me afterward he's like don't worry dude i've seen every big comic
23:09bomb the first time they go to this room because you just feel the weight of it and then rogan
23:13is
23:13watching and i i was in my room is it is it not a big room it's like gotham it's
23:17like 250 yeah yeah
23:18maybe and it feels even smaller it does so i think it feels between the comedy cellar and gotham
23:23probably is how i describe it got it and uh yeah so i went up there and i was a
23:27little in my head
23:28because you know joe was watching it's the first time he's ever seen me as far as i know and
23:30i'm
23:31like and the audience is like my audience is a little more diverse i guess for lack of a better
23:35way to say it like you know new york city sure my fan base is like probably 50 south asian
23:3950
23:39everybody else so i think i was just like you're intimidated yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah because people
23:44say like look i i'm a huge fan of rogan's i've never met him the greatest guy yeah and they
23:49he's one of the most generous guys to comics the greatest yeah but i think the thought is for a
23:53lot of guys like used to be for carson way back in the day that if you kill in front
23:57of him you go
23:58on the podcast you're on the podcast your life changes yeah is that kind of the thought uh it not
24:03it doesn't happen as much now because the podcast environment's a little more diluted but yeah the
24:07first time i went on rogan i had my special had just come out it got 250 000 views the
24:11first day i was
24:11super happy then it kind of tapered off and three days later so it was at 300 000 then the
24:16rogan
24:16episode drops four days after that it said a million yeah which is like that's yeah and i
24:21think it's not as much now just because there are so many pods yeah but uh yeah that is the
24:26feeling
24:26you get and i'd already done his pod twice but still it's like man this guy's been so generous to
24:29me i want to crush in front of him right and anytime as a comedian you're thinking i want to
24:33do well
24:33instead of i want to have fun yeah you're in trouble i said to me from a radio standpoint and
24:38i love
24:38having comics on um the best radio show in the history of the medium for me with comics was opie
24:45and
24:45anthony they had a relationship with torn comics that no one has ever come close to i'm trying and
24:51i love the medium i love what you guys do but those guys did in such a natural way because
24:55a lot of
24:55times not you i've done this for 35 years you'd have like i'm in denver so hey who's who's coming
25:01into denver right yeah and they don't want to do morning radio because you're tired right and some
25:05comics are just not funny unless they're doing their act they're not conversationally funny and i can't
25:11tell you every time the guy would come in that i was a big fan of and the guy would
25:14be like hey uh
25:16make sure you ask me about bicycles and you're like god dude yeah like oh go do comics unleashed
25:24or that stupid show is i'm not doing that right you're you're talking about that i'm not doing my
25:28material right but some people just aren't funny conversationally but right in the thing that
25:33they've hammered down it's good yeah yeah you know what i mean yeah ask me about bicycles yeah
25:37that's brutal that's disgusting are you familiar with aaron berg at all have you heard his stuff
25:44yeah yeah yeah he's a great guy that's my dude great guy wild boy but great guy yeah so he
25:49emcees
25:49we do four uh charity comedy shows at gotham every year yeah he always emcees him for me
25:53killer yeah and it's hard got to come on after yeah yeah yeah but good people good meeting you man
25:58great to meet you guys good luck on saturday all right there's only a handful of tickets left uh
