ARENOSO, RD – A casi cuatro años del trágico incidente que cobró la vida de un joven en este municipio, el proceso judicial contra Juan Cecilio Alejo Ortega alias Kinkon, continúa envuelto en controversias y retrasos que mantienen a los familiares de la víctima en un estado de constante vigilia y reclamo de justicia.

El caso se remonta al homicidio de un joven en la localidad de Arenoso, del joven Estefan Senildo Berroa, hecho por el cual Alejo fue procesado y hallado culpable en primera instancia. El tribunal dictó una sentencia de 20 años de prisión, al considerar que las pruebas presentadas por el Ministerio Público eran suficientes para establecer su responsabilidad penal en el asesinato.

Sin embargo, a pesar de la gravedad de la condena, el imputado logró obtener una medida de libertad bajo fianza mediante el pago de una garantía económica de 15 millones de pesos. Esta situación ha sido el foco principal de las quejas de la familia afectada, quienes denuncian que el condenado "hace vida normal" mientras el proceso de apelación se dilata.

En la actualización más reciente del proceso en la Corte de Apelación, la defensa y la parte querellante se enfrentaron nuevamente en una audiencia marcada por lo que los abogados de la víctima califican como "maniobras dilatorias".

El abogado de la familia denunció una irregularidad procesal crítica: un testigo clave, que guardaba prisión en la cárcel de Vista al Valle, fue puesto en libertad de manera inusual la mañana de la audiencia. Según el jurista, este tipo de liberaciones suelen ocurrir en horas de la tarde, sugiriendo una posible estrategia para entorpecer la comparecencia.

La audiencia fue aplazada una vez más, fijándose para el próximo 12 de junio. La familia manifiesta estar "cansada de los reenvíos sin justificaciones", alegando que el proceso de apelación ya lleva más de un año sin una resolución definitiva.

Steven Berroa, hermano de la víctima, expresó su indignación a las afueras del tribunal, señalando que la solvencia económica del imputado parece estar influyendo en la celeridad del caso.

"Ellos dicen que no pagan muertos con cárcel, que los pagan con dinero. Nosotros solo queremos que se cumpla la ley y que él entre a cumplir su condena ya", afirmó Berroa visiblemente afectado.

La comunidad de Arenoso y los familiares esperan que el próximo 12 de junio la corte finalmente cierre este capítulo y ratifique la sanción impuesta, evitando que lo que consideran un acto de impunidad se prolongue por más tiempo.
