00:00A worker at an Amazon warehouse in Oregon died on the job earlier this month and a shocking report
00:04says that a manager told at least one other employee who wanted to provide CPR to pretty
00:10much keep calm and carry on. The boss reportedly told the employee to quote, just turn around and
00:15not look. Let's get back to work. A new site called the Western Edge first reported the incident.
00:21Employees reportedly saw an as yet unidentified man collapse on the Amazon loading docks
00:27on April 6th. In a 911 call obtained by the Western Edge, you can hear an Amazon worker
00:32telling dispatchers the man who had fallen was, and I quote, probably dead, adding that he had
00:38extensive blood coming from his head and appeared very blue. Within moments of the collapse, a woman
00:44rushed over and began performing chest compressions, crying and screaming for help. A second employee
00:49then tried to jump in to help and asked her supervisor if they could relieve the woman doing
00:54CPR since she was getting tired. The supervisor reportedly responded, quote, it has to be
01:00management or safety team. Please get back to work. Eventually, workers were sent home early.
01:06Amazon told Western Edge, quote, our team focused on ensuring our employee received the care he needed,
01:11protecting his privacy and ensuring the safety of everyone on site instead of distracting from those
01:16efforts by focusing on immediately evacuating other areas of the building in those early moments.
01:20On its face, that statement is ridiculous, but I think two parts there bear repeating. The bit about
01:27ensuring the guy got the, in their words, care he needed and needing to protect his privacy in the
01:33moment. He died. Maybe privacy concerns should have been put on the back burner.
