00:00I'm Charli XCX, come vintage shopping with me.
00:13Here we are at Nordic Poetry.
00:17When I come here, I'm normally looking for timeless, beautiful archival pieces from legendary collections.
00:27Right now, I am really into a shrunken kind of like tailored blazer, something kind of like cinched sometimes.
00:35Like obviously I love a leather jacket, but I think I like a jacket right now that has like a
00:41stand collar, like very zipped to the top.
00:44A good leather jacket is one that you can just re-wear and re-wear and re-wear.
00:48I have like a few that I am just obsessed with.
00:51I got a great Cavalli one from here that actually me and my friend sort of like fought over when
00:56we came to the store.
00:58She tried it on first, but I saw it first and then I bought it.
01:02But then I did come back and I bought her a different jacket that was very similar.
01:12When I vintage shop, I do like to feel, well, you know, I suppose sometimes it can be therapy, can't
01:20it?
01:20Retail therapy, I hear they call it.
01:23It's like when I go to the studio, actually, it's a very similar mindset.
01:27It's like sometimes I go to kind of like make me feel a little better, but sometimes it's like I
01:32have to be in the zone.
01:34It's funny when I go to the studio, depending on the outfit I wear, the song will turn out kind
01:41of different.
01:42Clothes can really dictate your presence in the world and how you engage with art.
01:48My previous album, I think I wanted to record in clothes that I would go to parties and raves in.
01:55I think that just sort of spoke to the kind of grit and raw energy of the album.
02:04I've actually nearly bought this shirt so many times.
02:07It's toying with me, always.
02:09Okay, I am obsessed with this.
02:14I'm guessing this is Tom Ford, Gucci.
02:16Yes.
02:17And I love that it's belted.
02:19Again, like that cinched energy.
02:22Like huge variety so far in what I'm going for.
02:26How are you doing, babe?
02:27I'm good.
02:27How are you?
02:28I'm good.
02:28It's been so long.
02:29I know, it's nice to see you.
02:30You already picked some stuff?
02:31I know, we've got to get the fitting room going.
02:33We do have more stuff in the back.
02:36Okay, let's go.
02:36For you.
02:38Hi.
02:38Hi, Angel.
02:39How are you?
02:40I'm good.
02:40How are you doing?
02:41I'm good.
02:41Nice to see you.
02:44Good.
02:44So what have you got going on back here?
02:46There's a lot of Gucci Tom Ford.
02:48Oh yes, this is the zone that you always have.
02:50This is the zone that we take you and show you all the best pieces.
02:53I mean, I've brought so many pants from this section.
02:56Yes.
02:56Sorry, that was so American of me.
02:58Trousers.
02:59Trousers.
03:00What's this bra?
03:01Love this.
03:02This is a Galliano Dior.
03:04Little bralette.
03:05This is very earl.
03:06Glastonbury.
03:07All the earl.
03:08Oh my gosh, I don't think I could wear this at Glastonbury.
03:11I'd have a bit of a wardrobe malfunction, perhaps.
03:15I think, you know, when it comes to stage,
03:18I really always try and not think these are my pop star clothes
03:22and these are my daily clothes.
03:24It's the same thing.
03:26I don't really ever want to be feeling like I'm getting into a character in any way.
03:31I think it's just like I wear what I wear
03:33and the clothes that I wear can be kind of repurposed across all different areas of my life.
03:40Now I'm going to try some cute pieces on.
03:46This, I think, is one of my favorite things that I've picked out.
03:50It's quite classic, you know.
03:52I think this will stand the test of time.
03:54I think I would wear this, yeah, everyday dinner, also going out.
03:59This is sort of Irma Vep kind of energy.
04:02I feel that way whenever I'm wearing all leather situation.
04:08Now we're going to go just down the road to Missy, which is another vintage store.
04:14And the thing I really like about them is that it's a lot of like one-off sort of Italian
04:21vintage pieces.
04:22And you can really just go in there and get something that feels like really one of a kind,
04:27a total gem that you're like never going to find anywhere else.
04:31I found this place on TikTok, actually.
04:34That was the first time I heard of Missy.
04:36And it was right before I was going to Glastonbury.
04:42And I wanted to just get a bunch of cute stuff that I could run around the festival in.
04:47And so I came here and I got basically like a whole wardrobe.
04:52It's very sweet.
04:53Oh, I love these.
04:56I would just like to be known for dressing for myself.
05:00Also, I think it's cool to like repeat wear things.
05:03I recently actually did a cool thing.
05:05I had worn this Ludovic dress to the Grammys, which was made up of this like gorgeous dusty blue corset.
05:13And then we put it with some shorts I always wear on stage.
05:16A McQueen bra.
05:18We threw it all together, made a new look.
05:20It felt really cool to do something like that.
05:22Because, you know, I think you get given or you get to wear all of these like unbelievable outfits.
05:29And there's this sort of unspoken rule that you're only supposed to wear them once.
05:33And it's like, why?
05:35They're so fabulous.
05:35And I feel so lucky to be able to work with these designers on these sort of once in a
05:41lifetime pieces.
05:42Well, I'm going to wear it all the time.
05:44It's also how I feel about my wedding dress.
05:46I'm going to wear that like loads of times.
05:49I'm just going to deconstruct it and wear it in different ways.
05:51The dress I wore to my after party, I literally wear it all the time.
05:55I wore it on stage in France with Air first before I got married in it.
05:59Basically, the wedding dress that I got married in, in Italy, has like a sort of under kind of garment
06:06piece with like billowing material that you kind of like attach or reattach.
06:13Or if you can't, I'm going to make it so that I can.
06:16So then I can like wear my little like undergarment like moment.
06:20You know, why not?
06:22Why not? My husband re-wears his suits all the time.
06:26So, yeah.
06:29Thanks for having me.
06:30No worries, anytime.
06:31Yeah, we've got tons of stuff downstairs.
06:33You've got to check out.
06:34Okay, let's do it.
06:37Okay, I'm actually going to take these as I go as well.
06:41I'm just going to hang these up because it's a bit heavy.
06:46It's a workout.
06:47I am feeling the shopping magic.
06:51These are my dream right now.
06:53Look how cute these little buttons are.
06:55I feel like I would wear these every day.
06:57Oh, this jacket.
06:59It's a hole.
07:00I'm doing a hole, you know.
07:05My main personal styling rules are, if you feel good, you'll look good.
07:10Because I think it's confidence really, isn't it?
07:13Yes, there's lots of things that I don't feel confident in.
07:16Like when I'm feeling like I'm trying to like squeeze into something that my body shape isn't really like allowing
07:21me to do so.
07:23Like I never feel that good.
07:25I've, I'm kind of, you know, they're there and sometimes they don't fit in stuff and that can make me
07:36feel a little bit, oh, this isn't really working, you know.
07:41Okay, I'll just quickly browse.
07:44Oh, fun.
07:45Also a brand called Sexy Woman.
07:47How good.
07:49I'm going to try this jacket.
07:52What do we think?
07:53Do we like?
07:53Well, I love this collar.
07:56This is sort of like exactly the thing I've been into at the minute.
08:01I kind of think I have to get this.
08:03So let's check out.
08:10Okay, now I've got my things.
08:12I am ready to go home and try them on and live in them forever.
08:16I think.
08:17Bye.
08:23Bye.
08:24Bye.
08:25Bye.
08:26Bye.
08:28Bye.
