A former express bus driver and a woman have been remanded for four days, from today (April 16) until Sunday, to assist in investigations into alleged dangerous driving.

The remand order was issued by the Jasin Magistrate’s Court to facilitate investigations under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

00:01A former express bus driver and a woman have been remanded for four days following a shocking dangerous driving incident
00:08that was caught on video and spread rapidly across social media.
00:12The remand order, valid from today through Sunday, was issued by Magistrate Mazana Sinin at the Jayshin Magistrate's Court.
00:20Both suspects are being investigated under Section 42, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act, 1987, a provision that deals
00:28with dangerous driving on public roads.
00:31The incident allegedly took place on April 12th at approximately 7.30 in the evening near the southbound entrance of
00:38the Bemben Rest and Service Area along the North-South Expressway.
00:42The male suspect, aged 36, is alleged to have driven dangerously while engaging in inappropriate behaviour with a 21-year
00:50-old woman while behind the wheel of the moving vehicle.
00:53Both individuals had presented themselves at the Jayshin District Police Headquarters on Wednesday to give their statements and were subsequently
01:01detained.
01:02The bus company, Sri Maju Group, announced that the driver had been terminated with immediate effect on Monday and the
01:08matter was reported to the Land Public Transport Agency.
