00:00The City of Magicians explores how cultures drift into complacency.
00:04Why do you think the theme of societal awakening resonates so deeply with readers in today's
00:09political climate?
00:10Well, I think for the last several decades, a lot of us have been very comfortable, and
00:15comfort breeds complacency.
00:17Well, we can keep going the way we have, and then when the changes begin to happen, it's
00:22oh, we can adjust, and then the adjustments become more and more, they start to add up,
00:27and when do you put your foot down and say, no, enough?
00:30So, everyone's enough line will be different, but in City of Magicians, I have several protagonists.
00:37The sass is being picked as the educator of the barbarians, so how are they going to get
00:43the barbarian to not either A, invade, or B, destroy, or B, rape, and pillage, and burn?
00:49But they have a strategy, it should work.
