00:00How about Seattle right now?
00:01Struggling a little bit to start the season,
00:02but the San Diego Padres, six straight wins here,
00:05and they take on Seattle today as the home team.
00:08Once again, Hancock's going to pitch for the Mariners,
00:10and it's going to be Randy Vasquez here,
00:12the right-handed pitcher for the Padres.
00:14This line, roughly a pick-em.
00:15Minus 112s overnight, still sitting at minus 110s to minus 112s,
00:19depending on where you're shopping.
00:20And a total of eight today, streaking San Diego Padres at home,
00:24taking on the Mariners, Joe.
00:25What are we looking at for this one?
00:26Well, I mean, listen, if they couldn't get it done
00:30with Brian Wu on the mound last night here,
00:33I think Emerson Hancock has been really good so far for Seattle.
00:37I mean, the guy throws in the upper 90s.
00:40He's got a couple of off-speed pitches that have worked really well so far.
00:45This is the kind of game that Randy Vasquez is exactly the pitcher
00:49Seattle has to get right against here.
00:51I think this is a good opportunity for them to get one in this series.
00:55But the Padres have been rolling right now.
00:57Padres are rolling six straight wins here.
00:59How about six straight losses?
01:00That's the Milwaukee Brewers who opened up the season very good.
01:03And this past week has been very bad.
01:06Cease is going to take on Patrick.
01:07This game is a 740 start in Milwaukee.
01:10Line opened up roughly a minus 124 price point here towards Toronto.
01:14Still sitting there, as you see the graphic, at minus 124.
01:17And a total of seven and a half.
01:19Milwaukee, Yelich down.
01:20They can't get out of their way, Joe.
01:22No, they can't.
01:23I mean, and Miz pitched great last night for Milwaukee.
01:26I mean, that was a 3-2 game heading into the seventh inning.
01:29And then it just all heck broke loose once we got to extras and to the bullpens here.
01:36Again, I don't trust either of these two teams as they've currently gone.
01:40But there is a pitching advantage for Toronto early in this one.
01:44And that's where I would focus my attention on.
01:47Focus in your attention also on Major League Baseball, which includes those New York teams.
01:51And what the heck is going on with the New York Mets?
01:54Another day at the plate.
01:56Scored one run yesterday and another loss.
01:58My goodness.
01:59Head's going to start the roll for the Metropolitans.
02:02We'll find out.
02:02But you know what?
02:03We're going to cover more Major League Baseball next right here on the Early Line.
02:07Being a baseball manager, heck, even being a baseball player.
02:10Head on a swivel, as we like to say, Joe.
02:13And by the way, I've got a quick little video to take a look at.
02:15Did you see the Baltimore Orioles manager?
02:18He got plunked in the face by a rocket line drive here.
02:22And here's him talking about it.
02:23I feel good, actually.
02:24I mean, considering everything.
02:29Medical team did a great job.
02:31Like it was.
02:32It took care of me.
02:33That's all you can ask for.
02:36Yeah.
02:36Ball hit me pretty flush in the cheek.
02:39So, but.
02:42Feel good.
02:43Luckily, no surgery.
02:44I think all in all, it's at least seven fractures in my cheek area, orbital, and then a broken jaw.
02:53So, but luckily, doesn't have to be wired, no surgery.
02:58I just have to eat baby food for six weeks.
03:00So, gee, geez, I have a better diet than I do.
03:06How about that?
03:08Broken jaw.
03:09Couple fractures there.
03:10Can still talk, but does have to have baby food over the next couple weeks at this point.
03:14A lot of milkshakes from McDonald's.
03:16That's not good, Joe.
03:17What do you got to do?
03:18Put guys, we got to put the helmets in the dugouts now on the players and the managers?
03:24I'm willing to bet in that interview, he can't even feel his face right now, Donnie.
03:30I'm going to imagine there is enough pain pills there.
03:35That is, because that has got to be one of the most painful injuries there is.
03:39Whether you're wired up or not, you can't have a broken cheekbone and a broken jaw be talking and act
03:45like everything is good to go.
03:47No way.
03:48That is a lot of pain that man's going to be going through here.
03:52That's tough, man.
03:53Again, it's rocked in the face.
03:54And every time you hear, like, the crack of the bat now, he's probably ducking in the dugout here and
03:57got to deal with it for a couple more weeks of eating baby food.
04:01That's not a good sign here.
04:02I'll tell you what else isn't a good sign.
04:03Get a big free agent signing and you expect greatness out of your pitcher.
04:06And your pitcher, which is Tetsuya Imei, says, you know what?
04:09I haven't been able to adjust to American lifestyle in terms of baseball and outside of baseball.
04:13What does that mean?
04:14He doesn't know how to get to sleep at the right time.
04:16He's going out too late.
04:17Or, hey, there's big flashing neon lights that say McDonald's.
04:20I got to eat there all night and I don't feel good.
04:22What's going on with this pitcher down in Houston?
04:25Yeah, well, get with it, dude.
04:27I don't think he was that good to begin with, to be completely honest.
04:30But it's not like you're the first, you know, foreign player to come into the country here.
04:35And there's going to take a little bit of adjusting.
04:37But, you know, a lot of this is just on you here, man.
04:41I mean, I know we're looking for excuses, but this is not what they thought they paid for in Houston.
04:45I can tell you that.
04:47Hey, give a man a lot of money, set him free there in a major U.S. city.
04:50He's like, baseball?
04:51I don't feel like playing baseball.
04:52I'm going to go out and buy cars, buy houses, hang out at the strip club, maybe get some food
04:55at Hooters and relax and enjoy my life.
04:57Wait, I got to pitch every fifth day now for this?
04:59Yeah, you do.
05:00Get it in gear here.
05:01That's what they pay you to do.
05:02Pitch the baseball.
05:03How about this, Joe?
05:04We watched a video, just it feels like a week and a half, maybe two weeks ago, on Juan Soto.
05:09I'm like, brother, I woke up today.
05:11I didn't even know my calf was injured.
05:13I feel great.
05:14Which he was immediately placed on the IL.
05:16Now news coming out.
05:17Hey, by the way, Soto, he's not even running just yet, Joe.
05:21Like, Dr. Don, he just needs to have his own setup here that goes, your calf is hurt.
05:25You'll be out multiple weeks.
05:26And the player goes, nah, man, I'm coming back like tonight.
05:29I feel great.
05:30Yeah, yeah.
05:31And no, you're not.
05:33That's exactly it.
05:34So, yeah, again, 162-game season.
05:37You got to, these injuries happen, but the worst thing to do, Donnie, is to try and pretend like it's
05:43not there.
05:43Again, this isn't September where you're in a battle to make the, like, yeah, it's all right.
05:49You can go ahead and heal up.
05:50We'll see you back in June.
05:52That's fine.
05:53You're good if you're still in the race in June.
05:55Another scam coming to those royal fans right here and whether or not this is in Kansas and or Missouri.
06:01How about the Royals have moved one step closer to a new $1.9 billion downtown Kansas City Stadium.
06:08City Council Committee approved continued funding talks, including up to $600 million in public backing tied to the stadium and
06:15mixed use tax revenue.
06:17To put this in layman's terms, if you tried to buy a house in your hometown, your hometown was like,
06:21hey, man, look, we're going to give you 75% of the cost here.
06:24You pay the rest of the $25.
06:26Everybody would love it, but nothing is free, Joe.
06:29The fans and the taxpayers pay for this so billionaires can have a new play toy.
06:35Didn't they just move the, I thought they, you know, they added some additions, moved the fences in, like they
06:41changed Kauffman State.
06:42Now, all of a sudden, we're getting something new based upon the taxpayers footing the bill.
06:47So, hey, get what you deserve there.
06:49A 500 baseball team, a $38 trillion stadium.
06:53Congrats.
06:54And by the way, like you're giving back to like the World Cup and everybody being held hostage.
06:58It's supposed to be like when you get the World Cup, it's an economic boom is what their boon is
07:03what they say to everybody who's going to be able to host these games.
07:05Then me sitting in New Jersey, they go, well, we're going to have to raise it like 15 times just
07:10for you to travel there because we're being charged $48 million for like security.
07:14I'm like, why would the state be charged $48 million when the actual soccer program is making $11 billion?
07:21It doesn't make any sense, people.
07:23That's what we try to explain.
07:25For me, I'm going to go over to Major League Baseball and I'm going to take the Pittsburgh Pirates today.
07:29Their team total over four and a half.
07:31We're going to face Jake Irvin on the mound today who Irvin really struggles with left-handed batters.
07:35As many as five left-handed batters should be in the lineup tonight for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
07:39But if we take a look at the first four guys in the lineup, Joe, 396, 592, 358, and 424.
07:45That's the weighted on base percentages for the Pittsburgh Pirates going up against right-handed pitching this season.
07:50Let's hammer away.
07:52Five-plus runs gets it done here for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
07:55They'll take the team total over four and a half.
07:57So Joe's going to the NBA.
07:59I'm going back to Major League Baseball.
08:01Let's see if we can pull off another 2-0 night to go 6-0 on the week.
08:05Now, you've got to stay tuned.
08:07Prediction market's edge on the early line.
08:09Coming up next, people, let's get to it.
08:12As we flip it over to Major League Baseball, Boston.
08:15That's the Red Sox taking on the Minnesota Twins.
08:17The Twins are actually in first place.
08:18Is Boston actually in last place here?
08:20But Boston today still the favorite, trading at a 54% chance to win this game.
08:25And Minnesota, Joe, currently at 46 cents as the underdog.
08:29If you think the Twins can keep their winning ways in a $100 investment, that'd pay back $218 if the
08:34Twins get it outright today.
08:37Yeah, I mean, listen, I mean, Buxton's hitting this whole Minnesota lineup is absolutely crushing teams here.
08:46And they're hitting the long ball.
08:48They've won four games in a row.
08:49They've won eight of their last nine.
08:51Is this a team that we want to step in front of here?
08:55I don't think so.
08:56But yet, it's the third game in a row, Donnie, where they're the dog.
09:00They're getting plus money here.
09:01And it's been a pretty good investment.
09:03I don't know why it wouldn't be a good investment here.
09:06Maybe even take that one run here.
09:08Maybe plus one for Minnesota in the home team.
09:11But I think they got just as good a shot at winning this game because I can't trust Boston to
09:16put up enough offense here to beat anybody.
09:18You know, you can trust right now to San Diego Padres.
09:21Why?
09:21They've won six games in a row.
09:22Looking for lucky number seven today.
09:24Hancock versus Vasquez on the mound today.
09:27This game is going to start at 9.40 p.m. Eastern.
09:29So, staying up late.
09:31Take a look at the calcium marketplace right now, Joe.
09:3350% chance here on San Diego.
09:3650% chance here on Seattle.
09:39A true coin flip here.
09:40Which one is trading at 51 cents?
09:42The other at 50 cents here, Joe.
09:44Not a lot of juice involved.
09:45Just got to pick the winner tonight between Seattle and San Diego.
09:49And both these guys, Donnie, have been phenomenal this year.
09:53Vasquez, I don't know what's going on.
09:55He's got more velocity.
09:56He's got more movement.
09:58He has been very good this year for the Padres.
10:01And they need him.
10:01And so is Hancock for that matter, too.
10:04So, it's kind of hard for me to look at anything except, again, less runs.
10:09Like we have seen here, especially at Petco.
10:11So, this is a late game here, I believe, 9.40, 9.45 Eastern time.
10:17And this is a good pitching matchup.
10:19One in which, now, the bullpen of the Padres has gotten more work than the bullpen of Seattle.
10:24But that leads me still to think an under might be the best play here.
10:29Yeah, taking a look at the pitching props, which, again, on the Calci Marketplace, really simulating what you can get
10:34from a sportsbook here.
10:35If you figure that Emerson Hancock, the starter for the Mariners, could get five-plus strikeouts tonight, that's currently trading
10:40at only 34%.
10:41Flip it over to Randy Vasquez, who had five or more strikeouts tonight for the Padres, currently trading at 46
10:46cents.
10:47Both of those guys plus money to get five Ks or more, something to keep an eye on here.
10:51Toronto taking on Milwaukee.
10:53We just talked about the Padres, Joe, on that win streak.
10:55What happened to Milwaukee?
10:57Six-game losing streak, taking on Toronto today.
10:59Toronto, the slight favorite on the Calci Marketplace, trading at 52% to win this game.
11:04And, of course, Milwaukee at 48%.
11:06Milwaukee on a downturn right now early in the season.
11:10Can they wake up today, Joe?
11:12Toronto versus Milwaukee.
11:14Well, you know, they lost Yellow State.
11:16They've been a little beat up there.
11:18And the bullpen has not been good at all for them.
11:22So, it's been a rough stretch here for the Milwaukee Bucks.
11:26Now, this was a game, Donnie, that was very close against Toronto yesterday until we got into the latter half
11:31and the innings and the bullpens got involved.
11:33And then, you know, it all broke loose.
11:35But I tend to think that maybe Dylan Cease has got an advantage on the mound here today for Toronto.
11:42And if the Bats finally found something, I think they could very well be the right side in this game
11:49here today.
11:50And if the Bats find something, which includes Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hitting a home run tonight, Joe, currently only trading
11:56at 21%.
11:57So, if you take a look at 100L investment, if Vladdy goes yard, that pays back $477 here.
