00:26Dermatologist Michael Jacobs said in an interview,
00:30when you sleep on your side, the skin folds and there is pressure on just one side of the face,
00:35which can allow wrinkles to form.
00:37Sleeping on your back can help combat those unwanted lines.
00:41Now, when it comes to pillowcases, most of them can be unassuming.
00:45According to Mattress Clarity, when a pillowcase isn't laundered or changed regularly,
00:50a buildup of dirt and oil from the environment, as well as the skin and hair touching the pillow,
00:55is transferred back to your skin.
00:58This can clog pores and cause blemishes.
01:01Jacobs recommends a silk pillowcase, as silk is softer than cotton
01:06and won't tug or pull at the skin when you move around during sleep.
01:10But purpose might be the most important.
01:13Sleep alone has a ton of benefits to the condition of your skin.
01:17Getting your seven or eight hours a night gives the body time to rejuvenate the skin
01:22by increasing blood flow and rebuilding collagen.
