Just days after his story captured the hearts of thousands of Malaysians, Jon the dog has been rescued and is now receiving veterinary care.

The stray, which has now been renamed Chase by independent rescuer Shima Aris, was rescued by her and her team at about 8.30pm on Sunday, following a three-day operation.

00:02You may remember him as the plucky little stray who stole the hearts of thousands of Malaysians.
00:08John, the dog who showed up to work every single day alongside traffic police at Jalan Parliament.
00:14Well, he has been rescued.
00:18When contacted, independent rescuer Shima Aris said she and her team spent three days carefully tracking the dog,
00:25and on Sunday evening at 8.30pm, they finally got their moment.
00:30Shima gave him a new name, Chase, inspired by a famous police dog character.
00:35She said examinations at the veterinary clinic revealed he is underweight for his four to five years of age,
00:42with multiple wounds on his body.
00:44He was diagnosed with tick fever, a condition that will take up to a month to fully treat.
00:49But Chase is now in the right hands.
00:52He will be neutered, vaccinated, and most importantly, he will go home with Shima while he recovers.
00:59Once he is fully back on his paws, Chase will be put up for adoption, ready for his forever family.
