00:00This is Police Interceptors.
00:04Police Interceptors are all I find.
00:06I'm going to tell my kids about this.
00:08And you're riding with the pride of Northamptonshire.
00:14Ace Pursuit drivers.
00:16Contact, contact, contact.
00:17With air support.
00:19Get two out, stand by.
00:21And a crack dog unit.
00:23If you leave, you will get hit.
00:27They bring down the bad guys.
00:30I believe you'll want it, mate.
00:33Keep the streets safe.
00:37And battle 24-7.
00:42Get down on the floor.
00:43In the war on crime.
00:45Crash, crash.
00:47Overflow, no!
00:48It is what it is, isn't it?
00:49We find them, we lock them up.
00:53Coming up.
00:55The vehicle's trying to run this way out.
00:56Stand by.
00:57A fast food fan who's in one heck of a hurry.
01:01One running parallel to the A14.
01:05I think he might go, mate, if he get out.
01:07A shifty-looking beamer lays down the gauntlet.
01:11Yep, yep, get in.
01:14One, one, got a vehicle failing to stop.
01:15Buick Road, Northampton.
01:19And...
01:20An act of senseless violence kicks off an evening of chaos for the cops.
01:26Have a hand behind your back.
01:30I'll leap over.
01:32It's the weekend.
01:48Typically the busiest time for any police officer, especially those on the night shift.
01:53In Northamptonshire, with more than two decades' experience policing between them, firearms cops, Tony and Nathan, know exactly what lies in store.
02:04Tonight is Saturday night, which means we're going to get drink drivers, fights.
02:10There's a big FA Cup game today.
02:14Is it Northampton and Kettering?
02:16Northampton, Kettering and Kettering 1, which is a big shock.
02:19So there'll be a lot of intoxicated people from that.
02:23You can still early doors.
02:24It's only half nine, but I'd imagine there's going to be a lot of fights.
02:26I know, I'm larger in drivers tonight.
02:28It's now the early hours, and at this town centre night spot, the evening has passed largely without incident.
02:47Until now.
02:50A man on the street has launched his boot into the frontage.
02:54As a group of shock revellers gather to watch, he does it again.
02:58And again, until all four windows have been shattered.
03:04Moments later, he's wrestled to the ground by the bar's bouncer.
03:10Yeah, I think the door staff starts dealing with him.
03:14On the outskirts of town, dog handler Sean is the closest interceptor to the action.
03:20Yeah, I can go down there.
03:23What do you mean he's got entertained?
03:25As always, Sean has German Shepherd Peggy in the boot.
03:31Copied.
03:32It's at the top end by Brady and Northampton.
03:36But the boozed-up chaos of a busy nightlife area isn't a safe space for a police dog.
03:41Yeah, I doubt you're five or ten, six.
03:43We're not very popular with quite a few of them.
03:45So Sean must step into this uncertain and potentially hostile situation alone.
03:53I'm sure you've probably seen him.
03:54Hello.
03:55How are you, all right?
03:55Every single one of our windows just at the bottom there, they'll smash.
03:58He's done that, has he?
03:59Yeah, he's done it.
03:59So we've got him detained on the floor in a minute.
04:01I'll come back.
04:01Thank you very much.
04:02Yeah, I'm going to need transport.
04:06He smashed all the windows at the pub.
04:08It turns out the bloke who kicked the window was a disgruntled drinker who'd been ejected
04:14and refused re-entry.
04:16Let's just make sure someone watches my van.
04:19He's still on the pavement under the watchful eye of the bouncer.
04:22The bloke's using all his strength to resist the cuffs.
04:47You're going to be an idiot?
04:49You're going to be an idiot?
04:50Okay.
04:51You're going to be an idiot, then?
04:51Can you go on the front, then?
04:53Yep.
04:55Fortunately, the bouncer is on Team Interceptor.
04:59Put your other hand behind the back.
05:02Other hand behind your back.
05:08And with the help of a second member of the door staff team, the window kicker is finally in cuffs.
05:16There's your heart, so I don't see if you saw that.
05:18My mouth is listening.
05:19I've got help from the door staff.
05:20Well, I'll take the pressure off of you.
05:21You've just got to stop staying still.
05:23I'm not moving.
05:24What?
05:24You're bouncing up and down.
05:25Just relax.
05:26The prime suspect may be secured, but this whole scenario is rapidly becoming a powder keg.
05:31Yes!
05:32Yes!
05:33Yes!
05:34Yes!
05:35Yes!
05:36Yes!
05:37Especially for a cop on his own.
05:39Yes!
05:40Yes!
05:41Yes!
05:42Yes!
05:43Yes!
05:44Yes!

06:07Yes!
06:08Yes!
06:09At a range of practice, his passions are rugby, red meat and lifting weights, which
06:13is also known as the Tough Guy Holy Trinity.
06:16Good!
06:18Through there, through this gap there.
06:21His partner tonight Nathan also knows his way around the gym.
06:27These two should be able to keep a leg on any simmering tensions.
06:31there's now more than 50 people spilling out on the streets
06:45keeping the mob calm and the suspect secured is like walking a slippery tightrope
07:01because the man resisted when he was being coughed he says his arm hurts
07:13but his shouting seems to light a fuse with the ground
07:19with camera phones in their faces the police do their best to keep the onlookers contained
07:29but tensions soon reach boiling point
07:32in the melee a woman swings her leg at one of the interceptors big mistake
07:40as the police attempt to restrain her friends rush to her defense
07:52and another woman has to be pulled off
07:56their one job now to stop things spiraling completely out of control
08:02in northampton dog handler sean raced to the town center to detain a man who'd been kicking in windows at a popular bar
08:17but when a crowd of party goers turned on the cops and one woman swung a leg at one of the interceptors
08:35things erupted into chaos
08:38get off of me you're throwing me you're throwing me get off of me
08:42you need to relax
08:43you need to relax
08:44no you need to relax
08:45you grab it she's under arrest
08:46it's not him
08:47lashing out as a police officer is one of the quickest ways to get yourself nicked
08:51get up there and take here
08:52what have i done?
08:53you assaulted a police officer
08:55how did i assault a police officer?
08:57you'll keep the ambulance officer
08:5815 minutes after sean first rocked up the riot vans arrived
09:15okay i'm moving
09:17yeah yeah you are
09:18but now it's a taxi for two
09:21and with that
09:24it's finally time to hit the road
09:27there's quite a few there more than i anticipated when they go for the original call out
09:37and the crowd was quite hostile straight away
09:40the language towards the police car on our arrival didn't bode well
09:44obviously on my own
09:45you can't get the dog out just at that
09:47for a group and i didn't see the chap who was on the floor because of the crowd
09:51then the bouncers have come over and explained that they smashed all the windows on the pub
09:55so i've tried to arrest him for the criminal damage at which point he's just kicked off and tried to throw the bouncer off and try and get up
10:01so i ended up in a bit of a melee on the floor trying to get him in handcuffs
10:05um and then yeah i had to just wait until everybody else to arrive but it was one of those situations where you've got people behind you and i can hear glass breaking and yeah it's not a nice place to be when you're on your own and the dog's not out of the car
10:15tony
10:17tony predicted a busy night and he was bang on the money
10:21and three in the bank
10:23and it's not good news from the nick
10:25just been told
10:27the northampton custody suite
10:29is full they can't accept any more prisoners
10:31therefore the two prisoners we've got
10:33we've now got to go
10:35to kettering
10:37the worst thing is there's still another
10:41two and a half three hours left of their drinking time
10:43which means it's only going to get worse
10:45there's now no space in custody
10:47no officers on the street
10:49drunken behaviour and
10:51alcohol related incidents put a
10:53massive strain on police resources
10:55in england and wales almost
10:57forty percent of violent crime cases
10:59are thought to be fueled by booze
11:01there's my point acting bigger
11:03just sit down
11:05there you go
11:07at custody the man has finally stopped lashing out
11:09giving tony a glimpse of his
11:11ankle jewelry
11:13attack for
11:15it's unlikely his
11:17probation officer will be thrilled to hear
11:19about tonight's antics
11:21but for the interceptors
11:23this evening a rapid response
11:25helped defuse a highly combustible
11:27situation
11:29when um
11:31sean shouts for help because we work
11:33so close to the day of these and the dogs
11:35there's not many of us so one of us goes
11:37somewhere and one of us shouts for help no matter where we are
11:39the rest of us will drop what we're doing
11:41and try and make as quick as we can to help them
11:43we're tight we're a very tight-knit team
11:45and we work as a family
11:47disperse most of the crowd and as it stands
11:49we've got two in custody a minute and hopefully
11:51that's done for the rest of the night
11:53after the night at Kettering Nick
11:55the woman was released without charge
11:57however window smasher
11:59was interviewed in relation to the suspected
12:01criminal damage and later pleaded guilty
12:03in court he was ordered to pay nearly
12:05two hundred pounds in fines and costs
12:07one white male driver
12:19no other occupants
12:21a high speed pursuit
12:23through the red ats
12:25is like a heavyweight fight
12:27it's going round and round about it's a reciprocal
12:29your opponent can duck and dive
12:31you alright?
12:33yep
12:35and even land the occasional left hook
12:37I believe it's made contact with another vehicle
12:41but the toughest part of any contest
12:43confirm you want an abort abort
12:45is knowing when to throw in the towel
12:47vehicle's continuing towards Kettering
12:49I have aborted
12:55if for whatever reason
12:57we've had a vehicle fail to stop
12:59and we haven't been able to get a tactic in place
13:01it's really frustrating
13:03the upside is
13:05if we're able to still locate the car afterwards
13:07there's so much evidence
13:09within that car
13:11and also it's just a little tick in the box for us
13:13because if it's a stolen car
13:15then it's no longer stolen
13:17we've recovered that car
13:19if it's just a no docks vehicle
13:21or you've taken that car off the road
13:23there's one less uninsured driver on the road
13:25who may have had a crash
13:27so there are actually a load of benefits
13:29to getting that car
13:31even if you don't get the driver
13:33so you haven't really lost anything
13:45right go wait up
13:47you know by the school down here
13:49oh yeah there
13:51it's Thursday evening
13:53and Chris and Callum have been sent on a mission
13:55we were waiting for a vehicle
13:57with some very loose drugs intel on to drive past
14:01so we're just going to park up
14:03and see if we can see who's in it
14:05and just see how it reacts basically
14:07a 4-spec motor, a Ford Cougar
14:09pinged a local ANPR camera
14:11a few minutes ago
14:13that's a Cougar I think
14:15I think that's a woman driving it though mate
14:17but it is a black Cougar
14:19that is going to be the car
14:21the boys are in the marked car
14:23so the Cougars surely clock them
14:25I didn't notice him paying as much attention though
14:27he's committing any onto the
14:29oh hello
14:31now a sharp burst of acceleration from that Beamer up ahead
14:37has tweaked Chris's copper's nose
14:39sorry I'm more interested in this now
14:41I know
14:43sounds like the Cougar will have to wait
14:45I don't know why he was accelerating so hard
14:47I don't know why he was accelerating so hard
14:49I can try this one
14:51Callum runs the Beamer's particulars
14:55involving traffic offences in Derbyshire
14:57in October
14:59this bloke's definitely worth a sniff
15:01oh that's interesting
15:03the driver's taking two successive left turns
15:07not a crime in itself
15:09but it's definitely raising flags
15:11just doing a strange old route
15:13for someone from Market Harbour as well
15:17advanced driver Chris says
15:19the best advice he's ever received on the force
15:21is that two lefts don't make a right
15:23do you like that?
15:27so he shows him the blues
15:29and the fella complies
15:31you really stopping there?
15:33but the boys smell a rat
15:37I think you might go mate
15:39if you get out
15:41yeah this feels on the brake
15:43Callum decides to test him
15:45yep yep get in
15:47go
15:511-1 got a vehicle phone to stop
15:53Buick Road Northampton
15:55the Sporty 3 Series has shot off like a rocket
15:59but the boys are in a Beamer 2
16:01a 340i packing 369 horses
16:05can I give you the red please
16:07can I give you the red please?
16:09but there's not good news from control
16:13the Lumbertub's right north
16:15what's the thing we want to do
16:17the situation has been deemed unsafe for the boys to pursue
16:21so they've got little choice but to abort
16:23knew he was going to go
16:25one mod he was doing excess speed when we got behind him
16:29he was doing well excess 100 miles an hour up Lumbertub's
16:31he's just gone on into the distance now Lumbertub's north
16:35but they haven't lost sight of him completely
16:37actually we can see in the distance it's going into the eastern districts
16:39he's hazards on he's stopped
16:41he's got his hazards on
16:43so what's he playing at?
16:45can we have the dog towards us?
16:47he's gone in towards Thorplands
16:49can the dog just head towards anywhere?
16:51I know we can't pursue it but he's gone into an estate
16:53he's probably going to decamp
16:55but just as quickly as he reappeared
16:57the suspect vanishes once more
16:59left forward from straight up
17:01keep going Val
17:03keep going Val
17:05the boys crisscross the area for the next 10 minutes
17:09I reckon that left mate
17:13when we came in
17:15because I reckon they came in left decamp
17:17we'll get out of a look
17:19they soon receive intel
17:21that the suspect Beamer has been ditched
17:23in another housing estate nearby
17:25for the offence of failing to stop for police
17:29if we locate the vehicle even if no one's with it
17:31we've got a power of seizure
17:33to seize the vehicle
17:35so if we find it we'll certainly should be having it away
17:37when they arrive on the scene
17:39the dog handler's already there
17:41and he's had a good look around the motor
17:45there's scratches all the way around it
17:47bonnets, sides
17:49tyres are knackered
17:51oh look at that, let's take that alloy
17:53this poor old 3 series
17:55has certainly been through the wars
17:57oh he's got the seat reclined in um
18:01insert your own word for it here mode
18:03yeah
18:05you see all the cannabis dust and crap in the seats
18:07the car is registered to a private business in Leicestershire
18:11and once police have tracked down the owner
18:13they'll have a few questions to answer
18:15about who was behind the wheel this evening
18:17and they'll need to fork out a few hundred quid
18:21if they want it released from the pound
18:23it's a shame obviously we haven't got somebody out of it
18:25and someone in custody
18:27but we've got to take a win where there's a win
18:29and we've taken the vehicle off of him
18:31um, so he's going to have to pay the fees to get it back
18:33he or she
18:35um, they're going to have to also
18:37give us a line of inquiry to see who's been driving it tonight
18:39um, I identify who's decided not to stop for us
18:43and they've driven like a Wally
18:45um, so now it's a good result really overall
18:47and I've got to, um, as well, kneel to us for the night
18:53Despite thorough investigation
18:55it couldn't be established who was behind the wheel
18:57during the pursuit
18:59with no definitive evidence identifying the driver
19:03the case was eventually filed
19:05coming up
19:09Harrison takes one for the team
19:11yeah, the vehicle's trying to ram its way out
19:13in a minute, stand by
19:14and later
19:15reverse ram, reverse ram
19:17reverse ram, the vehicle's been ram
19:19so do Chris and Callum
19:21Show me your hands now!
19:23Show me your hands now!
19:25Get out now!
19:27You take it!
19:29It's ramming up! It's ramming up!
19:43A suspect doesn't need a gun or a knife
19:47to be armed and dangerous
19:49Boy!
19:51It's scrammed out vehicle
19:53Because in the wrong hands
19:55a two-ton motor
19:57can be a deadly weapon
19:59We're being rammed!
20:01We're being rammed!
20:03It's always in the back of your mind
20:05that you have to deal with
20:07people trying to ram you
20:09sometimes they'll put into reverse
20:11and try reverse ramming us
20:13and other times they'll try
20:15knocking us off the road
20:17as we're trying to do tactics to resolve the pursuit
20:19and inherently it is quite dangerous
20:21and sometimes it results
20:23in a car being off the road for a few weeks
20:25the main thing
20:27as long as I get to go home at the end of the day
20:29I'm happy
20:31It's dinnertime on a Thursday
20:47I'll come round to you
20:49and Harrison is hungry for his next job
20:53Because tonight the interceptors have unfinished business
20:59We had a vehicle yesterday
21:01We had a vehicle yesterday
21:03that Leicestershire passed us
21:05and it's a cloned Santa Fe
21:07where an Irish place
21:09We went after it last night
21:11and it disappeared into a sort of rural area
21:13near Desborough on the border
21:15We've got to go after it
21:17We've got a few cars heading after it
21:19Interceptor Bertie is currently parked up
21:21at a drive-thru McDonald's
21:23where the suspect is buying his dinner
21:25It's a big old unit of a car
21:27so we want to get as many cars near it as possible
21:29and hopefully get some tactics on it
21:31authorised to get it stopped ideally
21:33before it leaves the drive-thru area
21:35When it comes to getting takeaways
21:39Harrison's got more of a taste for Chinese
21:41than Mackie D's
21:43He'll take a big duck over a Big Mac
21:45any day of the week
21:47It's in the McDonald's drive
21:49from that side of the road at the minute
21:51but if there's a wrong'un at the Golden Arches
21:54he'll happily pay them a visit
21:56It should be in there
21:58It's at the last window at the minute
22:00Harrison must cross the carriageway sharpish
22:03to give Bertie the backup he needs
22:05Obviously there is a risk if it's on clone plates
22:09that it may fail to stop
22:11so we'll see if we can get it
22:13whilst it's in the car path
22:15Fortunately for the interceptors
22:18tonight's fast food isn't living up to its name
22:22It's still at the last window
22:24it's got three occupants
22:26But with three people in the car
22:28Harrison has certainly got his plate full
22:31It's going to be sitting in the car park Bert
22:34He's in the unmarked
22:35so finds a quiet place to keep watch
22:38What do you reckon Bertie?
22:40Try and get it stopped before it leaves the car park?
22:42I don't know, it's difficult isn't it?
22:47I suppose I could come in head on if you pull out behind it
22:51But before they can fully formulate a plan
22:54It's just coming out now
22:56Dinner is served
22:57In fact it may be reverse parking
23:00It's reverse parking into a space
23:04With Mr Hyundai parked up
23:06Harrison can easily make him the filling in a sandwich
23:10But this fella's no McChicken
23:12Yeah, the vehicle's trying to ram its way out at the minute
23:17Standby
23:19One running parallel to the A14
23:25Having shunted Harrison's Volvo
23:27The driver's scarpered
23:29He's across the A14
23:32Can you get a dog to us please?
23:35And he's risked his life by legging it across the busy dual carriageway
23:41He's running across here
23:42Westbound at the minute
23:44IC1 male
23:45Great tracksuits
23:46He's through a hedge at the minute
23:50I can't get across because of traffic
23:52Back at the scene Bertie has the Hyundai's two passengers in cuffs
23:56So Harrison must focus on the driver
24:056-4-1 there
24:06Yeah, I can't get across the road at the minute
24:08He's dived through a hedge, I can see where he's gone
24:11As soon as there's a safe break in traffic
24:14He's out the blocks
24:17Okay, I'll be out, I'm into the fields as well with him
24:23But has the daredevil runner had too much of a head start?
24:28Oh, is that drone going up, sorry?
24:30If the suspect's lurking in the field
24:32A drone's thermal imaging camera could light him up like a Christmas tree
24:37Home point updated
24:40You can see from the drone Bert
24:44This is where he's come over, however the park is
24:46There's no sign of the runner yet
24:48But more resources are en route
24:51Hopefully the dog can track him this way
24:54Keep him in his area somewhere
24:55The dog unit is 15 minutes away
24:58But with each second that passes
25:00The suspect slips further from their grass
25:04I can't see anything in the ground, Ben
25:06I wonder if he's gone to ground
25:08With a roadblock in place
25:10They decide to tap their final resource
25:12Down past you, it'll be seven minutes maximum
25:16I ain't going to lose my life
25:19I'll be chasing all across the carriageway
25:21So we've got a helicopter on the way
25:23We've got a dog on the way
25:25Hence why I've just stopped here
25:26Hopefully the dog can pick up a trap
25:28First on the scene though is the chopper
25:31And now dog handler Brad's arrived with German Shepherd Piper
25:42Anything past that trough or down the right-hand side not being done
25:46He came flying over this way
25:48It's now nearly half an hour since the runner disappeared into the field
25:55The only thing I can think is if he's gone diving down the right
26:00Yeah
26:01And neither Piper's nose
26:03Nor the two eyes in the sky
26:05Have managed to figure out which way he went
26:08We've been past the five-hour room
26:10So you know the immediate areas
26:12You can lay it as best as you can
26:14We're just going to be doing all the roads and fields
26:17Very frustrating
26:20Despite throwing multiple resources at the search
26:23Thank you mate
26:24On this occasion
26:26The interceptors will have to settle for an evening of mixed results
26:31It's still drivable
26:32The grill's fine
26:33There's no damage to the lights and everything
26:35At the end of the day
26:36The car's there at all to do the job
26:38Essentially we've stopped him failing to stop
26:40And clearly in hindsight
26:41He'd have took chase and probably
26:43Been dangerous
26:45If he's willing to ram police vehicles at that stage
26:47God knows what he'll do
26:48In an actual chase with members of the public on the road
26:50So hopefully the forensics on the vehicle will show his driving
26:53So fingers crossed
26:55Ramming a cop car is an act of sheer desperation
26:59And an interceptor never knows when a cornered criminal
27:03Might suddenly decide to lash out
27:06It's late on a Monday
27:21It's late on a Monday
27:23About to join the 8509
27:25Chris and Callum reckon the Range Rover they've just got behind
27:29Could have dodgy plates
27:31Range Rover Evoque in black I think it is
27:35They're in the marked car
27:37So decide to tail it and see if the driver reacts
27:40And it's nearly just collided with a ranger in the main
27:45Not only is the manner of driving a bit sus
27:49But there's something else about this scenario
27:51That's ringing alarm bells
27:53The Ford's pickup plates also bear the hallmarks of a possible clone
28:00Ford Ranger in grey
28:02Of course they've got tape on the plate
28:04Tave is split
28:06We're going to go with the Ford Ranger
28:08Having decided to follow the pickup
28:11They sit back and hatch a plan
28:13We are an advanced TPAC driver
28:16In a suitable vehicle
28:17Vehicle's currently not failing to stop at the moment
28:20My thoughts are with the lack of TPAC at the moment
28:23For a boxing resolution
28:24We do a sting
28:25A pre-emptive sting
28:26And a handover to Empath to take over
28:29The Ford pickup weighs in at nearly two and a half tons
28:33And packs a heavyweight punch
28:35So the interceptors want to sting it to avoid a pursuit
28:39It's multiple occupants inside
28:41Unknown occupants
28:42Unknown occupants
28:43Unknown if they're armed
28:44But the nearest stinger unit is ten minutes away
28:46They're thinking about where to go aren't they?
28:49And now the boys are presented with a different challenge
28:53We're a left left now
28:55We're into a McDonald's
28:57The driver's made a beeline for McDonald's
29:01So the interceptors fall in behind
29:03And hope he doesn't get spooked
29:05I want one interest
29:07And he's now ordering food at the drive-through
29:09Dog handler Lucy is en route
29:12The new plan is to box him in before he's even had a slurp on his milkshake
29:16What is the ETA for our next unit to this McDonald's?
29:23The boys don't even order
29:24So their intentions are now crystal clear
29:27They definitely know if all of them
29:30Fortunately Lucy is just a matter of seconds away
29:34Moving off from the drive-through now
29:36Coming out of the drive-through
29:38Pre-emptive reinforced stop I think
29:40If you're happy with that given the low speeds
29:42Although the pickup has parked
29:44He looks like he's kept his engine on
29:46It's in front of you
29:48If you go on the long
29:49We'll take the short
29:50Strike, strike, strike
29:51The interceptors pounce
29:53Reverse ram, reverse ram
29:56Reverse ram, vehicle's been ram
30:00After being rammed
30:17Chris leaps out to confront the driver
30:19And because the lad continues pounding into both cop cars
30:23Chris takes a hammer to the window to get him out
30:27Amid the chaos, a rear passenger escapes on foot
30:35Get out!
30:37Get out!
30:38Get out now!
30:39Get out!
30:40Get your hands out now!
30:43The threat of 50,000 volts works a charm
30:49You're under arrest and official criminal damage
30:51You have to say anything
30:52But the Miami defense do not mention questions
30:54That we allow in court
30:55Anything you do say may be given evidence
30:56To the floor!
30:59To the floor now!
31:00To the floor now!
31:02As well as the driver
31:03A passenger has also been cuffed
31:05Go under arrest the man
31:06It's fishing a theft amount of vehicle
31:08You're also under arrest for failing to stop
31:12Failing to stop?
31:13Yes mate
31:14When we put the blue lights on
31:15And you try and drive off
31:16That's failing to stop isn't it?
31:17Well done
31:18Well done
31:19That's three serious offences in as many minutes
31:22But Callum has saved the worst for last
31:25You forgot to pick up your McSpicy as well
31:27After you park in day one
31:29They should throw away the key for that one
31:32What's your current age?
31:33Sixteen
31:34Sixteen
31:35Sixteen
31:36You are further under arrest for driving without a license
31:38And driving without a license
31:39And driving without insurance if you are sixteen
31:40Okay
31:42This young chap's got some serious questions to answer back at the nick
31:47The cloned Hyundai that rammed Harrison earlier was never claimed and was later crushed
31:53The passengers were released without charge and for now the man who ran remains at large
32:01So too does the lad who ran from the pickup
32:04However the underage driver of the pickup got done for criminal damage
32:08Driving without a license and without insurance
32:11He got six points on his record
32:14A £250 fine
32:16And a nine month rehabilitation order
32:19Both him and his passenger remain under investigation for the theft of the vehicle
32:33It's Friday evening
32:35And rolling out for the start of her night shift is dog handler Lucy
32:38We're just going for a vehicle that hit an AMPR camera on the A14 and another officer behind it
32:45Driving a bit erratically so we're just all tipping out
32:49See if we can get it stopped safely
32:53The car has previously failed to stop for the cops
32:56Plus it's got a marker for document offences
32:58Just waiting for a suitable place to try and get it stopped
33:01To do the minute alone will be nowhere to stop at the plate once
33:06Lucy is still two miles from the action
33:14Better for A30 seconds behind you
33:16But on the A14 interceptor Max has just caught up
33:22In the sixth floor we're behind him there
33:25In the marked car ahead of him Harrison Beverley is waiting for a moment to pounce
33:30They're going to slow it
33:33Let's have a bit of lay-by
33:35We'll go for it
33:37Now Max is here
33:39Harrison flicks on the blues
33:42We've got a mere classification vehicle
33:46They're here to slow it
33:48Speed to zero
33:50As they approach the lay-by
33:51It looks like it's job done
33:54We've got a couple of lapses of the lay-by
33:57We've got a couple of lapses of the lay-by
33:59We've got a couple of lapses of the lay-by
34:01But the bloke's bolted before
34:03So Max heads him off just to be safe
34:05OK, stop, stop, stop walking
34:08Moments later, Lucy's on the scene
34:11Her partner this evening is Cocker Spaniel
34:14and expert drug sniffer, Socks
34:17Let's go and see if they want it searching
34:18The driver has admitted to being disqualified
34:23So is already in cuffs
34:25And the marker on his car is murky to say the least
34:29Mmm, counterfeit foreign documents
34:31It's not really drugs, is it?
34:33But probably worth searching it by hand
34:36Rather than the dog
34:38Sounds like the nose they'll be relying on tonight
34:41Will be the coppers rather than the canine
34:43If we find anything drug-related I'll put the dog in
34:45But the marker doesn't say anything about drugs, so
34:49Lucy goes in first
34:53Baseball bat!
34:55And pulls out some sporting goods
34:57There's a baseball bat down the side of the passenger seat
35:00He won't be hitting any home runs with it stuffed down there
35:03There's flakes of cannabis
35:05It's everywhere isn't it?
35:07Yep
35:08There's quite a lot in the back as well, like flakes of it
35:11A few cannabis crumbs isn't exactly a big score
35:15Lucy?
35:17Cut
35:19But has Jo just knocked it out the park?
35:22Oh nice
35:23So what's that?
35:24One bag containing
35:27One, two, three, four, four, six
35:30Around six individual
35:33Shall we put the dog through them?
35:35Yeah, take that out
35:36Jo's just found some class A
35:38So I'm going to put socks through
35:40He's no sniffer dog, but he's no ordinary Jo either
35:43So far we've found roughly six individual deal bags of a white powder
35:49Possibly cocaine
35:51So Lucy's going to get the drugs dog out
35:53Run the dog over the car
35:55See what else we can find
35:57It's fun!
35:59If there's more drugs in the car, socks will soon sniff them out
36:02It's fun!
36:04Meanwhile, Interceptor Sandra is after something even more unsavoury
36:09So stick your tongue out for me
36:11A sample of saliva from the driver
36:13So this test is going to take eight minutes
36:16And I'll update my colleague while he's travelling to custody
36:19If he comes up to positive, alright?
36:21Back at the car
36:23Happy?
36:24I think so
36:26Socks has had his nose over every inch of the interior
36:29The other officers obviously found the six wraps of what we think is probably cocaine
36:34Socks hasn't found anything in addition to that yet
36:35And the driver's obviously disqualified as well
36:38So it's a good stop in the end
36:40There's no more dodgy parcels here, so Lucy calls it
36:44Yeah, I think that's it mate, to be honest
36:47But eight minutes have now passed since the drug wipe
36:50Which means the results are in
36:52He was swerving when he was driving and speeding up from 100 to 60 and 50 and back up to 100
36:58We put him on a drugs wipe and he's tested positive for cannabis and for cocaine
37:02So we'll go to custody, disqualified and for driving probably
37:07So, yeah, back to it
37:09The fellow wasn't charged with possession of class A
37:14But he did plead guilty to driving whilst disqualified and without insurance
37:19He was ordered to pay 200 pounds and was banned from driving for 14 months
37:24He was also charged with drug driving, but the case was later dropped at court
37:29Still to come
37:34Your offside brake light's not working
37:36A roadside MOT
37:38So you've got no headlights
37:40That fails to illuminate
37:42There's quite a lot of issues with this, isn't there?
37:43There's quite a lot of issues with this, isn't there?
38:00It's lunchtime
38:02MG from 14 for a CO2 vehicle check
38:05And Joe Wood is having a nibble on a suspicious Vauxhall
38:09This vehicle in front, the silver Vauxhall Astra
38:13It's in quite a poor state of repair
38:15I think it's supposed to be silver slash grey but covered in mud
38:20Cops have learned that drivers who don't maintain their cars
38:24Often don't maintain their insurance premiums either
38:27I'm pretty sure as well
38:29That's from the Motor Insurance Bureau
38:32Astra's are statistically one of the most uninsured vehicles
38:36This one's come back on PNC as insured
38:39Documents in order however
38:41We'll put a stop on it
38:42See who's driving it
38:44And make sure everything's okay
38:52Blues, twos and the coppers finger have the desired effect
39:00Hi there, how you doing, alright?
39:02Yeah, not too bad
39:04Just a routine stop, just to make sure everything's in order with the vehicle
39:06I think it's in order with the vehicle
39:07What insurance have you got to drive the vehicle?
39:09Erm, I've run out of data
39:11So I'll just borrow this on
39:13The bloke says the beaten up Astra belongs to his boss
39:17Who's insured him to drive it for 24 hours
39:20Joe has his doubts
39:22Potential insurance issue
39:24They're saying that the keeper put a day policy on it earlier on
39:28So, see if we can get evidence of that
39:30If not, it will come in with us
39:31It doesn't take long to establish three things
39:35Right
39:36Joe's suspicions are bang on
39:38I don't think you've got any insurance for this
39:40This guy's walking home
39:421-4, could I organise 165 recovery please for no insurance
39:46And the Astra's status as one of the country's most uninsured cars remains intact
39:51If the boss turns up and goes, oh yeah, here's the policy, look, and it's all legit
39:55Then we can just discount this, alright?
39:57Enter a new player, stage left
40:00Who are you then? Are you the...
40:01I'm the registered insurance
40:02You're the registered keeper
40:03So, what's the reason for Micah driving the vehicle?
40:06Just borrowing it to go home
40:08Right, okay
40:09Yeah, I wasn't getting him on the insurance side
40:11Right
40:13The boss says he was just getting around to sorting the insurance
40:17But you know, admin issues
40:19An excuse which won't cut any ice with Joe
40:22You'll be reported for driving without insurance
40:26And you'll be reported for causing and permitting Micah to drive without insurance
40:30But it's not all bad news for the boss
40:33You're insured on this, aren't you?
40:34Yes, yeah, yeah
40:35Right, okay
40:36So, given that you're now here
40:38Yeah
40:39I don't need to take this vehicle away anymore
40:41I can let you take it
40:42But you will be getting reported as well, okay?
40:44Okay
40:45Thank you, Jack
40:46The pair are free to go
40:47Right, go
40:48Cheers
40:49Cheers then, thank you
40:50Another statistic in the tale of one of Britain's most uninsured cars
40:55We said earlier on about the amount of these that are uninsured
40:59That just came through, didn't it?
41:00And no sooner is Joe back on the dual carriageway
41:16Can I get a go-to, please?
41:18That he gets a second chance to road test the starts of the motor insurance bureau
41:22There's an Astra in lane two, looked a bit quick, sitting around eight, added to that, there's a light out in the back
41:29And once Joe overtakes, the front's not much better
41:33And I can see there's a light out in the front, so just worth a check
41:37The interceptor lights his follow me sign and leads the Astra off the dual carriageway into a lay-by
41:43How are you doing? All right? The reason I stopped you in the first place was your speed, all right?
41:52No, I didn't go over eight
41:53No
41:54I'm not going to give you a ticket for that, all right? But vehicle then, whose is it?
41:58It's my vehicle
41:59I've got an insurance certificate and shit, you want to see it?
42:01Yeah, yeah, go for it if you've got documents
42:04It looks like this Astra won't bolster the uninsured statistics
42:08Perfect
42:13But it is a bit of a wreck
42:15You've got a near-side light out, and you've got your off-side brake light's not working
42:20So you've got no headlights
42:23Okay, and is there any main beam?
42:25Yeah
42:29Just the one side, naturally
42:31So you've got main beam on that side, but no headlights, right
42:35They are getting done, keep that
42:37I think you are too
42:39There's quite a lot of issues with this, isn't there?
42:42It looks like a PG-9 job, prohibiting the car from public roads
42:47The vehicle's going to have a prohibition put on it, which basically means you can't drive the vehicle anymore
42:52Well, the driver has one bit of luck on his side
42:55Technically, it is PG-9 but it's still daylight, so
43:01I can't do that
43:02Because it's daytime, it's going to get away without the car being seized
43:05I'd say if you get to the headlights change then
43:09Yeah, I'll get it all done today
43:11But when Joe has a closer look, there's exposed metal on the mirror
43:15You clip a cyclist, rather than a nice bit of curved plastic hitting on
43:19You've got this metal hitting on
43:21Yeah, I appreciate that
43:22And under the bonnet
43:26There's no strap on that either
43:28The battery's not secure
43:30You've got a few issues going on here, haven't you?
43:33It's a bad chip, but it's a workhorse
43:36Ah, it's a workhorse, which brings another problem
43:39You're using it in your role as a handyman, so for that you need business insurance
43:44Okay
43:45Which you haven't got
43:47I'm not going to seize it, because you have got insurance
43:49Thank you
43:50Right, so I'm not going to take it away
43:51I'm going to let you continue your journey
43:53And hope that you get all these things fixed
43:55However, I'm going to report you for the offences, okay?
43:58That's fine, I appreciate that
43:59So, expect something in the post
44:02Yeah, so basically the vehicle's a bad machine and needs to come off the road, mate
44:06That's what you're saying
44:07Here's your words on
44:08I agree
44:10The Astra driver stopped earlier was guilty of driving without insurance
44:15He got six points and fines and charges, totalling £258
44:22The owner who allowed him to drive received six points and fines of more than £800
44:29The guy who was light on light was convicted of driving a car in a dangerous condition
44:34And without valid business insurance
44:37He also received six points and fines totalling £280
44:45Put your seatbelt on!
44:46Yeah!
44:59The couple of things stuck around the bat
45:02There's a glove across the car that happened in effect
45:04Left at the end of the car...
45:05Oh!
45:07Reworld Best
45:10To know where he's done or worth counting from!
45:11Iaahaaaah
45:13łaahaaaaahaaaah!
