02:15Miller hi Frey hi Dan how are you doing is hoping his proven track record will take him all the
02:22way
02:27I think the thing that sets me apart from a lot of other candidates in this process it's the
02:31experience I've had I've grown the business since I was 17 I've done it on my own I made my
02:36first
02:36million by 25 and I want to make a lot more millions in the future YP graduates taking the
02:42young professionals brand and this new business to the next level with Lord sugar I think the rest of
02:46the candidates in the process should be worried about going up against me the reality is is that I'm
02:50the only one here with a business plan that's guaranteed for success by having Lord sugar as
02:54a business partner as a mentor would really be life-changing hoping for a smooth pitch 28 year
03:03old PR man Lawrence Rosenberg I've always enjoyed job interviews weirdly you know it's gonna be tough
03:09I know that it's gonna be a grilling now it's the opportunity to let my business do the talking and
03:14hopefully I can make the right first impression delivering smarter faster and more transparent PR
03:20through intelligent automation the opportunity that I want to put forward is something that
03:24isn't something that's going to make five or ten million this is something that will change how PR
03:29is done for good total five-year revenue projection 18 million pounds I'm really doing this for my wife
03:35my family you know I want to have that safe secure family life just best of luck like you're gonna
03:42smash it I'm so proud of you it's been really hard without my wife to be honest with you I
03:47love every

04:15words can't really describe the feeling of getting to the final five I just knew that if I was myself
04:21the confident bubbly Pasha I had a genuine feeling that yeah I would make it to the end she's hoping
04:27to
04:28recruit Lord sugar to her health care focused firm to me my business plan is good the potential and the
04:34growth margin it's unstoppable I want to build a reputable recruitment company that changes
04:39perceptions getting the investment from Lord sugar would be life-changing it would just be amazing to
04:46take that step at 21 doing something I absolutely love gross profit year to eight hundred and four
04:53thousand pounds I'm here to get to the end and ultimately be Lord sugar's next business partner
05:02with the most wins under his belt Priyash Bathia is hoping his bar business side hustle as the recipe for
05:10success my passion is obviously making people smile I'm a smiley person I had that energy when people are
05:17happy I feel happy as well busy bar is currently operating as a small mobile cocktail bar business
05:23going to these interviews I think I'm going to be very nervous and anxious I'm just going to be
05:27myself I bring a lot of positive energy anyway I just want to show you the world my business plan
05:31what I'm capable of year three my revenue is 1.1 million pounds I've turned something that is my
05:39hobby my passion into a business idea which is what life should be all about it's creating something
05:44you like and making money out of it 28 year old Karishma Vijay is chasing more than just a healthy
05:55glow with
05:56her beauty business when I was 18 I was diagnosed with severe cystic acne I genuinely felt so ugly and
06:05I
06:05let my skin define me so I looked around and when I found something that finally worked I told myself
06:12I'm gonna find the best version of this I'm gonna put it in a bottle and I'm gonna sell it
06:16one day
06:16to become a globally trusted skincare infused beauty brand known for its powerful ingredients a strong
06:22community and a viral digital presence my business has been around for five months I've turned over 50k
06:30that's not too bad that's not too bad hi I'm good babes how are you the last couple of years
06:39have
06:39been incredibly straining for my family financially we've struggled for such a long time we've just
06:45been moving home to home and that makes this very moment monumental for me the most important thing is
06:51your confidence with you and your hard work is going to pay just do it I'm here now and I'm
06:58here to fight
06:58I am the most credible business person in this room I'm probably the strongest
07:176am this is a huge day this could set up my business my career the nerves early yeah they're hitting
07:23I'm just nervous about not knowing what they're gonna ask me
07:27boys you know what my makeup's not finished I forgot my rings my lucky rings at home I actually don't
07:33know what to do with myself you reckon we can turn this car around
07:40hi-lo a 28-story skyscraper in the heart of East London
08:04good morning good morning low sugar now as you know this is the 20th year of the process and to
08:12date I've invested
08:133.5 million into previous winners and one of you will be my next business partner now here's the thing
08:22I don't care whether you have an established business or just a seed of an idea as long as what
08:29you're bringing me has the potential to be big so I've asked some of my trusted advisors to assess
08:36both your plans and your personal credentials so please hand your business plans over to Karen and Tim
08:46thank you thank you
08:52so good luck I'll see you in the boardroom tomorrow off you go
08:57thank you thank you
08:58lying in wait Lord Sugar's tough talking team
09:01setting the record straight publishing pioneer Mike Suter
09:07do you want my opinion on boozy bar yeah I think it's a bit enough yeah boozy bar sounds
09:12like the kind of thing that my mum would get excited about
09:16unafraid to dig deep former boss of a billion pound media firm
09:21Claudine Collins
09:22I bought a bottle what is this rubbish that comes with it it's like for five-year-olds
09:32running the numbers Lord Sugar's longtime friend and associate Claude Littner
09:38hello Claude
09:38hi there
09:39shall I take a seat
09:41you can stand if you want
09:44pulling at any loose threads
09:46fashion brand founder Linda Plant
09:49I just don't think you're ready for an investment I think someone needs to train you first
09:53I'm well trained
09:54I don't doubt you've got skills I just think it's all too limited for a 250,000 pound investment
10:02can't believe we're here final five I know absolutely nervous right now gonna be a long day
10:08a long day of a good grilling but like you know that feeling in your stomach yeah it feels like
10:14I'm going to throw up Priyash Linda is ready for you now see you soon that is scary yeah I
10:28think
10:28he's gonna do well I think it's just so hard not to like the guy he's always just so smiling
10:34I mean let's see if that works with the interviewers
10:37hi Linda hello I don't think they're here to look at big smiles to be honest with you
10:43so Priyash tell me about your business
10:46sure so my business plan is to create a personalized mobile bar as well as a ready-to-drink cocktail
10:53and mocktail product line
10:54uh to make it into a scalable national brand
10:57so it's not one business it's two businesses
10:59um essentially yes it's like two into one
11:02you're splitting the focus on two very very different businesses right how risky does it make your business plan
11:08um risky but in life you should take risks
11:12yeah you should take risks but they need to be calculated
11:14this ready-to-drink product you've allocated 50,000 for launching this drink
11:19do you really think you can do that for 50,000 pounds
11:23um looking back on my plan I think I should I know I need to allocate a lot more money
11:27and well how much more um I reckon that's gonna cost around 150,000
11:31so why did you put 50,000 um that was you've got no idea really what you're doing have you
11:36correct you're not going to produce a drink for 50,000 you haven't even got a recipe you
11:42haven't even got a manufacturer yes I agree and I don't like good at your day job do that
11:46try and build the boozy bar up forget the drink you're never gonna do it okay okay
11:54oh my god that couldn't go any worse oh here he comes guys that was actually shambles
12:05like literally oh my god she's the devil she actually is I just want to go up now I just
12:12don't like the waiting around it just builds up the tension and the nerves oh I just want to settle
12:17I just want to like do the first one and be settled Karishma you're a bit quiet right now
12:21what's happened I don't know nervous Karishma head up to Mike thank you good luck Karishma smash it
12:28you're gonna kill it she's got it in the bag she knows her business inside and out I'm sure
12:36she'll handle it like a champ yeah exactly good morning Mike take a seat please thank you sir
12:45Karishma please describe the business that you would like Lord Sugar to invest 250,000 pounds in so my
12:53business is a skincare infused beauty brand and you've got a degree in biomedical science right so
12:59you know a lot about this sector yeah and the lead product is an oil that you claim is a
13:04miracle cure
13:05for acne is that correct yes so look there are many rosehip oils on the market some are cheaper than
13:12yours some of them are more expensive which one of them is your miracle cure so I would say one
13:30of
13:30these three could be mine which one are you gonna say is yours I would have to smell it okay
13:35I believe
13:38this one's mine was that I guess these ones may be darker in color but they lack potency I could
13:44tell from the smell immediately and I hope this one's mine if it's not mine and what if it's not
13:48yours I hope it is Mike I could be wrong well congratulations you've got it right oh we got
13:57someone else up Lawrence Claude we'll see you now here we go good luck adios guys see on the other
14:04side
14:05that'll be interesting because I think he's quite confident pleasure to meet you
14:14so Lawrence start off by telling me what the business is that you're pitching to Lord Sugar
14:19so the business idea is twofold it's a PR agency and the PR agency is underpinned by a technology
14:25which will improve the results the speed and the quality of the work and hopefully eventually it can
14:31be sold to other agencies as well um so obviously it'll come as no surprise to you that I've read
14:36your business plan yes and I get a bit of a shock really because the fact is that the investment
14:44that
14:44Lord Sugar is making is 250,000 pounds that's correct okay but that's not correct in terms of what
14:49you're seeking yeah so you are asking for a funding requirement which is 5.5 million before we even start
14:58you've excluded yourself from this whole process it's not it's not funny it's very serious you are
15:04laughing that isn't upfront but you're saying that 500,000 at the very least is upfront isn't it if I
15:10want to grow the business at the speed which I'm suggesting but I can do it slower I wanted to
15:14grow
15:14it at a fast pace that's not what this whole process about I'm not asking for 5.5 million upfront
15:20that's okay okay show me where you've got a profit loss account which shows 250,000 pounds start
15:27show me I can't first of all I can't see a profit loss account anywhere there there's the financial
15:31model are you joking are you joking you want me to look at that I understand but I can't read
15:35it I
15:36can't read you can you read that I understand but that it is all there the investment is 250,000
15:43I don't know how we get past that to be honest with you I mean you want to argue with
15:46Lord Sugar you
15:46can okay Lawrence good luck thank you very much I really appreciate the time
16:01hello everyone hi Lauren oh I love that he's gonna invest all the money himself now the car crash the
16:10problem is is it's a tech business and it requires a lot of investment and I wanted to show that
16:14I was
16:15being ambitious by sort of getting it going as quickly as possible but it does need more than
16:18the 250,000 and I know what I was trying to do I was trying to show ambition but if
16:23he doesn't
16:24want to hear it I can't change that yeah Pasha Claudine is ready for you now
16:33nice to meet you nice to meet you take a seat thank you so before I delve into your business
16:40plan
16:40tell me a bit about your job now so I'm a principal consultant within a recruitment company and I'm the
16:49top biller and yeah I've made a name for myself well done good for you thank you tell me succinctly
16:56about the business that you want Lord Sugar to invest in so my business is a recruitment company
17:02within the private care sector and the name of your business and call yeah it's a body part if you
17:11say
17:11it in a yeah how else and and call and call and call and call yeah you do say in
17:20your CV your key
17:21skills is social media marketing tell me what the difference is between LinkedIn Instagram and TikTok
17:28well LinkedIn is a business tool so why then would you put pictures like this up on LinkedIn because that
17:36doesn't scream to me the person that I want to recruit for my care home I can understand where
17:42you're coming from but then saying you're a social media marketing yeah that's probably a bit of an
17:48exaggeration the business that I'd like Lord Sugar's investment in is a graduate recruitment company which
17:55is a natural evolution of my existing business which is currently working in the school lever and
17:59apprenticeship market from what I'm reading the business for Lord Sugar's investment relies heavily
18:05on the infrastructure of the current business YP young professionals yeah but you make it very clear in your
18:13business plan that the current business is not part of the deal so what I'm doing because I've already got
18:19a team in place that know our
18:20clients very well they know how the events are running young professionals aren't they
18:24and their time is going to be split across both businesses which I yeah you've been trialing it
18:29for nine months that right yeah so do you possibly expect Lord Sugar to invest in YP grads when it's
18:36so
18:36intermixed with young professionals you're not going to propose that to him are you that's obviously not
18:42a viable option for Lord Sugar it's a non-starter oh here he comes how was it well oh what
18:51is that silence
18:52about it was very clear to me that Lord Sugar wants everything and not a new graduate business how do
19:00you
19:00know that you know she said that look they're technically the same company he's going to want
19:04half of everything so that's a big decision I've got to make and yeah Priyash Mike will see you now
19:12get ready for a fight my friends good luck mate I reckon he's dressed
19:21listen Priyash always backs himself but I think that Mike is going to give him a really tough time
19:27hello take a seat thank you so Priyash yeah have you registered your company um I haven't no so I
19:37mean
19:37is it really a business if it's not registered um at the moment I do operate as a small mobile
19:42bar
19:42service for small events does it have accounts sorry accounts no it does not so yeah it's not
19:49registered a company's house no and you don't keep a set of accounts right so I would call that a
19:56hobby
19:56then rather than a business yeah listen I'd like you to demonstrate to me now what is so special about
20:03your business I'd like you to make me a cocktail no as in which which ingredients sorry or oh the
20:14ingredients yeah stay there I'd like you to make me a paloma paloma okay not made fun of those for
20:34years is there any ice or Chinese with that there's ice there great fruit juice how much tequila you
20:45putting in a double shot normally when I do do these recipes I do normally search them up beforehand
20:52because obviously I can't remember every single cocktail I'm only asking you to remember a paloma
20:57and what's that okay this is country and then I'm just gonna put some grapefruit juice in is this
21:03where you do your flare thing oh no I'm not flare bartender that's disappointing yeah surely you can do
21:09some tricks no no I can only do like things like that my first paloma of the day
21:27no paloma I've ever had in my entire life has Cointreau in it ah however it's drinkable thank you
21:37okay thank you for your time I'll show you a drink
21:48the thing that I'm persuaded about is the social media so if in fact you've got people who are really
21:55famous if they start endorsing it I think that's worth a lot yeah absolutely so because of my like
22:03history of a social media I've spent the last seven years reviewing products and I've been so honest
22:07about it with the hundreds of thousands of people across the world hundreds of thousands yes that
22:12an exaggeration I would even say millions yeah but let me just move on to these numbers then are you
22:18telling me you've made a hundred and sixteen thousand pound net profit no that's not that's
22:23not what that is but in terms of what that is what is it what is that number that's how
22:27much we'd
22:28make what really profit here yeah profit yeah when you profit yeah but that's not what you're
22:34making what are you making do you know yeah I do know actually that would be profit if I was
22:38to sell
22:39five thousand units but this is numbers are my weakness Claude I'm gonna be honest and I know you're
22:45here to look for the numbers and I know that you can see through that but I'm feeling confident
22:49about the numbers I can present to Lord sugar and I feel like he'd be confident that I can grow
22:53those
22:54numbers very quickly look you've spoken very very well but for me I like to see probably hard numbers
23:00thank you for your time thanks a lot my numbers made no sense to me or to him here she
23:11is how did
23:12it go that couldn't have gone any worse no yeah there's no excuse me saying I'm new to business and
23:19sorry I don't have the numbers for you so how are you feeling Karishma not good guys
23:34hello Claude my pleasure it's lovely to get a handshake thank you how are you I'm very well thank
23:41you you've said in your business plan that you communicate like a smart operator who cuts the
23:47nonsense and gets results and yet the business plan is 75 pages long full of jargons and acronyms did
23:55you actually write this or was this written by AI no I I wrote this so I was having a
24:01conversation
24:01with the AI to help it improve my work and my ideas and I have all of the logs you're
24:05a PR man right
24:06you know you are engaging this is anything but engaging hmm I mean PR mainly it's about who you
24:14know at various publications and media so do you have contacts that like the financial times
24:20yourself yeah yeah so who's your most senior contact at the FT at the FT um I I'm just trying
24:27to think through the the FT I I do know people but I'm trying to remember their name um Laura
24:32um
24:33oh I've forgotten her last name off the top of my head okay don't worry I can't know her that
24:38well
24:38no I've worked with her on a story but it has been a little while I'm happy to list off
24:43contacts at
24:43other places that I know but it's just whether you want to hear that no not at the moment thanks
24:49if you can go into a little bit more detail about how you intend to run this business so working
24:54in
24:54the recruitment sector recruiting for care homes and nursing homes I've realized there's a massive
24:59gap in the market with client facing we're not meeting our clients we're not having that face
25:04relationship um having spent a lot of time in hospital myself I think it's something that's very
25:09worthy but the whole point is to actually provide that service yeah but also end up with a profit
25:14of course I don't know whether the word profit loss account means anything to you no those are
25:20absolutely key things so I think the business plan is woeful yeah because it doesn't contain any of the
25:26things that someone like me would look for of course we've had two opportunities now to show them who we
25:34are I'm hoping that by the end of the day three out of four of those people I've managed to
25:41impress yeah
25:41I mean like we all knew these interviews were gonna be absolutely brutal and I think with Claude you
25:46know it I can't change anything about it but that's about as bad as it could go oh
25:50Krishna Linda is ready to see you now
26:02one of your biggest challenges is you're going on the medical side because you're curing acne
26:09that's one of your claims to fame right but rosehip and aloe vera they're nothing special are they
26:15there are products on the market similar to what I have but you're claiming ah look I had terrible
26:21acne but now it's all cured it's a medical claim there yeah nowhere nowhere has this backed it up
26:27with the oil it's not just acne there's a huge umbrella of things that help I'm not buying it
26:33yours isn't special so you're gonna scale 55,000 in year one to 850,000 in year three do you
26:41think
26:41that's overly ambitious I don't think so we've currently done 55,000 pounds in sales in just
26:47five months but you haven't detailed that in the business plan because I've given a my people I'm
26:51I've given a month by month breakdown I think you've come with a whole load of waffle yeah you talk
26:56the
26:56talk you you I don't think I was allowed to really talk the talk in this interview what I've taken
27:01from
27:01this you have missed so much out mm-hmm the interview is over thank you for your time Linda
27:11hello Krishna are you okay genuinely that went as bad as it possibly could have gone and it is what
27:17it
27:17is on to the next week on to the next I'm shitting myself now I don't want to meet her
27:23Priyash Claudine
27:25is ready to see you now thanks guys Claudine is a little bit kinder so hopefully for him it's all
27:38good hi Priyash hi Claudine how are you I'm fine how are you oh good thank you good nice to
27:44meet you
27:44nice to meet you take a seat thank you um Priyash let's talk a bit about your proposed business so
27:50how many events have you run in the past year um so the events that I currently do are only
27:55very small
27:55events like private parties less than like 50 60 people what's your turnover around about 7,500
28:03usually right so your events just family and friends correct yes and like small private parties
28:09you've said that your marketing budget is 12,000 pounds a year what on earth do you expect to get
28:14for that so a lot of my marketing I want to do is work with event planners and partnerships with
28:19like
28:19DJs because I feel at the moment that there is a gap in the market where who would you call
28:24you're hosting
28:25a party at home there isn't like someone that you would just randomly call oh I know this good
28:29bartender I think there are loads of mobile bars around I definitely don't think that there is a
28:35gap in the market and they are even mobile bars with the same name as yours do you know that
28:42oh no I
28:43didn't there's a very big boozy bar in Hampshire and there's also one in Ireland so
28:56you know like clothing was a nice one but she's it was tougher than expected I think I'm just gonna
29:01laugh because I don't want to cry I'm actually done with this I wonder how Lawrence is getting along
29:15because Mike one thing I can tell about Mike take a seat he hates a schmoozer
29:22Lawrence yes you've got a good track record in PR correct I like to think so yeah you were one
29:28of
29:28the 30 under 30 PRs yeah I was very proud of that that was a big achievement for me and
29:34my family
29:34Lawrence your business plan is detailed thank you rigorous thank you and comprehensive I appreciate
29:40that but it's a master class in how to make a really glamorous industry sound like a tax return
29:47I don't think that seriously it's one of the most tedious business plans I've ever read that's quite
29:53all right so what will this AI platform that you're planning to build what will it do it's going to
29:59give
29:59a client a portal where they can access all of their assets and basically help them to do their jobs
30:03faster better quicker and deliver better results as well have you built it you have I have not built it
30:08yet that's why I'm here asking for the investment you've got a chief technology officer to start
30:13lead the technical development of the platform correct and is he your business partner he is not
30:18my business partner is he an employee he would be under that model yes so you can't build it because
30:24you don't have the skills to do it no would Lord Sugar be better backing your technology guy no
30:30absolutely not thanks Lawrence thank you very much it's been a real pleasure thank you
30:39you're currently in a hole that your business is losing money you're aware of that or yeah I know
30:45that my finances I mean they're not the best but it's I've probably just gone a bit too happy spending
30:50being young and we hire out huge venues in Leicester Square we've got the O2 hired out this July for
30:55our
30:55big events and unless you can manage to get control of your existing business I think you're going to
31:00be in trouble but I'd be amazed if your business can't be turned around with Alan Sugar the only
31:06way that Lord Sugar would be interested is getting a 50% share of your existing business to make it
31:12right and what do you think he could bring to me if I'm looking for someone to really take the
31:17business
31:17to the next level I know I'm doing almost around a million you know I want to get to 10
31:2020 million
31:20the thing is there's no doubt that he's got a history of growing businesses enormously I think that
31:26he'd be a fantastic partner for you but ultimately it's your decision got a big decision to make yeah
31:31yeah your business plan it was just seven pages long yeah it kind of looks to me like you could
31:40have jotted it all down on a napkin what is your competitive advantage it's no good saying recruit
31:46with more heart more style more efficiency they're just meaningless cliches they're not meaningless
31:52cliches because the short time I've worked in the industry I've understood what the gap is in the
31:57market there's not enough substance here there's not enough grit a seven page business plan how is that
32:03I do I do regret not not putting more into it I really do that's because you're inexperienced
32:09yep she's brutal she taught facts I can't lie like she said you're inexperienced but I just sat there
32:20like took it like a champ and we've got the trauma together bond we've got the trauma bond yeah you
32:25know what like she says it how it is yeah I mean she doesn't beat around the bush but still
32:41I want to ask you a bit about yourself really because you obviously have a huge drive and
32:48determination how's the motivation and the drive come to you my dad was at one point a very financially
32:54stable man now we have very little to get through each month and it's why I'm here because for me
32:59at
33:00the core of my business plan is rent is you on the 22nd today my rent is you today it's
33:04been my
33:05thought um and it's sad for me that we're moving every six months money is just such a big issue
33:10for
33:10us right now but I want to give him the world everything I do my dad's at the very core
33:15of it
33:15I want to do him very proud in this life Karishma I think that your dad and your family would
33:21be so
33:22proud of you and I wish you all the best thank you Claudine you've absolutely made my day thank you
33:29very much I wanted to get to meet you today thank you thank you bye bye bye
33:36on your business plan the 250,000 for that Lord Sugar is going to give you it's going to be
33:41immediately consumed it's to build the technology but I do you think he's going to be happy with that
33:46that the 250,000 is just immediately gone would Lord Sugar rather have 50% of a business worth 250
33:51,000
33:52or 5% of a business worth 50 million this isn't about his ego well it's about yours if you
33:57think this
33:58business is going to be worth 50 million I wonder what Lawrence is getting up to with Linda I reckon
34:03she could get criminals to confess their crimes oh yeah for sure so let's talk about the time frame
34:09yes as all these AI features can take a considerable amount of time to develop mmm what if they don't
34:15work what are you going to do I mean what if I walk out of here and I get hit
34:20by the car
34:20don't you know I'm interviewing you for 250,000 pounds do not give me cocky answers like that yes
34:28it is you've come here for an investment yes 250,000 I apologize yes thank you I just want to
34:35be very
34:36clear though that if there is not the appetite from Lord Sugar to build the technology I'm willing to scale
34:42back and create the agency first I'm not coming in here with a rod saying that I have to do
34:46this
34:46but yeah you have you should have actually come in here with a business plan that was attainable
34:51but that's the mistake I believe that there's the interview is over thank you very much I
34:55really appreciate the time so thank you very much goodness me
35:04Lawrence that was uh fiery um how did that go mate well suffice to say I don't think it could
35:12have gone much worse she basically was just calling me cocky and she got really really cross with me at
35:17one point really really cross and I was like listen I'm sorry if that's the way I'm coming across but
35:21that's not my intention yeah me it was a really tough interview that was not fun like it was not
35:26fun
35:26at all Priyash Claude wants to see good luck mate see you soon I feel for the boy oh man
35:35it's gonna be
35:35such a grilling hi there come here please take a seat sure okay Priyash when I first saw your business
35:45plan yeah I thought that I'd be meeting somebody sensible because you're working for PWC and what I
35:53found was not that at all oh okay okay year two you you've got a hundred thousand pound profit and
36:00year three you've kind of embarrassed me by saying that you've got revenue of 1.1 million and five
36:05hundred thousand pound profit but um because the fact is I'm in year two and three will be entering
36:09the retail world of supermarkets and things like that you've got to get into it you've got you've
36:13got to show me the how you're going to get into it yeah you mentioned supermarkets though they're
36:16they're just waiting for you every supermarket they're not they're not it's a crowded place I'm
36:21willing to put in all the extra work I'm sure you haven't given me enough to go on to give
36:25me the
36:25confidence sorry I just you've brought the failure on yourself you are quite the man you made your
36:34first million at 25 you have a holiday home in Marbella and you joined the Institute of Directors
36:40at 17 and you said that you have time to go to the gym three times a week to shop
36:46in Harrods to go
36:47skiing why on earth do you need Lord Sugar so it's a very good question I think um with Lord
36:53Sugar he
36:53can really mentor me take me under his wing and um you know help me get to where I want
36:57to get a lot
36:57faster and how have you found this process I found it quite difficult in a lot of cases you know
37:04I've
37:04got Asperger's and I've got dyslexia and um I sometimes feel like but I've said things and it's
37:10come across the wrong way in certain situations because of my Asperger's it took me a good couple of
37:14tasks free tasks to settle in and really get to know people because I was kind of in my shell
37:18a
37:18little bit yeah how did you find living with all those people it was a big shock to the system
37:22I
37:22adapted quite well I've made some really great friends for life I think being here oh that's good
37:27um Dan you you really are an incredible young man with what you've um achieved and I just want to
37:32wish
37:33you all the best yeah thank you for your time Claudine I really appreciate it thank you okay take care
37:37Dan and just a question what what do you think I should do because I'm I'm in a really difficult
37:43position I've never known anyone to fail partnering with Lord Sugar he makes a huge success of the
37:49people that he partners with I'm gonna see how the boardroom goes tomorrow when I get into that
37:57boardroom tomorrow I'm gonna listen to what he's got to say and I'll know in that moment
38:04hmm well good luck Dan you do have a lot of thinking to do yeah we've got a really big
38:07day
38:08tomorrow in the boardroom so I think we should head back to the house yes I think so too let's
38:12do it
38:12guys I feel like I put up a really good fight you know I've backed myself throughout the process
38:33and I had to do it yesterday so feeling like I've got a chance it's not a big one I've
38:38still got a lot
38:38to think about I've got a lot of things going around in my head right now this 250,000 pounds
38:44could change my life and I hope that he picks me good morning morning well look I do appreciate your
39:03input into this final five 20 years Claude you and you look the same you really do well let's start
39:13off show it so Priyash has two parts to his business one is a mobile bar and the second is
39:22a line of
39:23cocktails which are ready to drink okay he's a lovely effervescent man but the business plan is
39:33incredibly weak it's not really that mmm at the moment he does about 48 events a year and he
39:40makes about 156 pounds per event oh my goodness he wants to extend me there's a side hustle and then
39:48there's a side hustle yeah okay Claude he's got a job at Pricewaterhouse it
39:52looks like a good solid job and I thought he was going to be a serious
39:56individual then I turned to his mixing thing and I thought no this guy's a
40:00joker he's going into an industry where he doesn't know very much about it and
40:04so the interview didn't last very long especially when I looked some of his
40:07numbers turnover 500,000 in year two hundred thousand pound profit year three
40:11one million turnover five hundred thousand pound profit you know but
40:15believe it or not if you look at his CV he's got mathematics and economics
40:19degree it might have bought it on Amazon he's not a silly man no good job so I
40:27think that he should sit with a job get promoted and in the sideline weekends you
40:31should grow his business so obviously he's plan hasn't left anyone shaken or
40:36stirred should we move on to someone else then Karishma yeah let's go on to her
40:44yeah Karishma has a skincare product she used it because she had as a as a
40:51teenager she had acne and she found all about acne I grew up there so I think
40:59that Karishma has two real advantages she's very skilled at social media she
41:03creates very compelling content there and the second thing is she has a personal
41:08story she sells through tiktok and through other social media platforms well I was
41:14completely taken by her Instagram and I did actually buy the product and I really
41:19liked it I mean I'm like 75 to be fair every task that's involved social media
41:26she has performed really well so that makes sense actually and she does have a
41:30biomedical science degree as well with a speciality in dermatology Claude what do
41:34you have to say well I liked her she spoke well she had a lot to say for
41:38herself I personally think that the industry is a very crowded market and
41:43everyone makes these great claims about what it's going to do for you that's my
41:47view but I think that she's got a following so she's got influences and I
41:51think that's the key all right let's move along so Lawrence his main claim to
41:56fame is he runs the worst Jewish football club in London right which I should
42:02imagine since he's been away for about 11 weeks it might be top of the league so
42:08Lawrence is a very ambitious young PR man he's been working in PR for several
42:15years and indeed he was named recently as one of the 30 under 30 PRs and that is
42:22not to be sniffed at what he would like to use your investment for is to launch his
42:27own PR company makes sense and then to have that underpinned by an AI driven tech
42:35platform to take a lot of the manual labor out of PR work he's convinced he can
42:42take that AI platform and he can I don't get that you know PR is all about you know PR
42:49or
42:49you would know I mean look look I'm sitting here now so I said exactly that to him it's about
42:54being
42:54engaging his business plan was 75 pages of monotony you think it was done by AI yes
43:03good Claude there's some talk of him wanting something like 5 million pounds
43:08yeah well what is the matter with the boy I mean on page 4 he declares he wants 5.5
43:14million of which
43:15he needs a substantial amount to start him off I got on really badly with him and when I challenged
43:20him he said well I could do it for 250,000 but his whole business plan is predicated on 5
43:26.5 million
43:27so essentially I pretty much threw him out you need to come back and win this process 23 times
43:3223 times yeah all right let's go next to Pasha yeah well so she wants to go into nursing homes
43:40and
43:40things like that recruiting things like carers and people yes yes but she her approach is really a
43:45personal one which is going to the care homes try and explain how she's got a personal touch and she
43:51then hopes that through that where's the money there well yes where's the money business plans only seven
43:57pages yeah seven pages yeah it's like Laurence's honors mpick maybe yeah I did buy into her and she's
44:04really young and I would never have known to be honest that she was 21 the way that she's speaking
44:10and she very confident she's obviously impressed all of us just the way that she comes across so
44:17look I wouldn't rule her out if anybody was going to make a success of a business like this I
44:23think it
44:23would be Pasha all right let's move on to Dan yeah so it's two companies it's young professionals
44:28that's the existing company and the company he wants to partner you with Alan is YP grads that's a
44:35new company he's done a trial for nine months on that company and turned over 55,000 but therein lies
44:45the
44:45problem to do a trial is using the existing staff to do it yeah so he's trying to tell me
44:50that this
44:51separate business is going to run separately there's no so one of the assets that he has
44:57within his businesses he has a very very deep database because he works with schools and that's
45:03one of the real benefits of putting the two businesses together because clearly he's able
45:08to track people from the age where they're starting to leave school through into their first job and or
45:14into graduates and then beyond Claude well my feeling about him is that he's an entrepreneur okay he
45:21started a business from nothing when he was young obviously I can't see the the background I can see
45:25the last couple of years where he's gone from making a profit to a situation where currently he's losing
45:31money right the problem is I think he's taken his eye off the ball he's got very very high expenses
45:38so
45:38when he runs a an event for example it can cost him 120,000 pounds to hire the O2 Center
45:44I see so
45:44he's got to get a handle on these enormous costs of events costing a hundred thousand pounds to put on
45:50all right well thanks for all of that you've given me a lot of things to think about and I
45:56appreciate
45:57it once again in this 20th year so thank you could you send the candidates in please
46:22well I've had a discussion with them and I'm going to drill down a little bit more with each of
46:30you
46:30so starting with you Lawrence you put forward a 70 page document is that right a little bit longer
46:38but roughly yes did you write it yourself or was it done by AI I wrote everything by myself and
46:44then I put it through AI to build through the ideas I was told by some of my advisors that
46:50you were
46:51endless waffling in the business plan in fairness I was talking about sort of funding cycles within
46:57technology so I also wanted to make sure there was a lot of sections in there and I was worried
47:01about
47:01not covering points off so yes I do accept that it was quite long well this is well this is
47:05one of the
47:06faults with this AI stuff you know everything that I put in there I edited before it went into the
47:10business plan anyway not just the point is is that you're talking about wanting five point five million
47:18pounds I mean are you having a laugh or what so that was future funding so it was very clear
47:22in
47:22the financial model that this was not upfront funding but I told you right in the very beginning
47:27my money is a kind of like a seed money if you like yes and all the other very successful
47:33winners
47:33in the past have taken that money and I tell them one thing that's it you ain't getting any more
47:39not
47:40from you and you just move on and you build a business on it and they have successfully built
47:46businesses on it but this is nonsense if you wanted me to run walk before I run and focus on
47:52the PR side
47:53they would certainly suggest that of any of you here really yeah sure I wanted something I believed
47:58in but you know I'm also believe in building a PR agency with that target market right okay a lot
48:04of a
48:05lot of words it sounds like my school report difficulty this is not school I know right okay so pressure
48:13yes um unlike Lawrence here who came up with a 70-odd page document yours was seven pages right
48:23some of the figures I was told were a bit undercooked marketing budget is way too low yeah that was
48:29underestimated but the numbers that I've got in that are based off of what I do and at the moment
48:35you work in a company where you're recruiter yeah yeah I'm a principal consultant and are you known
48:41in the care home industry personally yes I would say so I've created a big clientele and I have
48:48managers that have my number on speed dial so okay you also talk about the business plan hinges on
48:53highly personalized in-person relationships yeah the competition against regional and national giants
49:01will be fierce won't it that is correct and I think recruitment you know there there are so many
49:06recruitment companies that you know it can be hard to stand out but with the knowledge and experience
49:12that I've got I know that you know I could I could take it off if I was to start
49:16my own company I know
49:17that that wouldn't be an issue okay all right let's move along now Dan my advisors tell me that your
49:26company's losing money yeah I think it's not that we're spending money and losing money the money is coming
49:31into the bank account but I need to just get a bit of a better hold on saving the money
49:34and cutting down
49:35on our costs a little bit I mean we hire a lot of huge venue hires out no no no
49:39no no Dan are your
49:41sales bigger than than the venue costs they are yes so what what doesn't it show in your accounts
49:48as a profit because I'm spent I'm spending the money wait what you're spending it on so I mean we
49:54pay
49:54houses in Marbella or what I did take 100 grand dividends um last year and I also took a it
50:00was
50:00around a 75,000 pound salary and so it is a profitable business then right okay and let me move
50:06on to
50:07you want to go from YP to YPG and YPG is graduates yeah yeah and you've done a trial on
50:16that and the
50:17trial that you've done must be using your existing staff our existing staff an existing a select number
50:23of our existing client base yeah therein lies the problem I wouldn't be investing in you with two
50:28companies because I need your concentration on one entity so how's your feeling about that I came into
50:36this process under the impression that I was gonna be putting forward this new business and I don't
50:40think I'd be being true to myself if I gave you a straight answer right now whether it was a
50:43yes or a
50:46no right now Karishma tell me what is your miracle cure product so we've started with our rosehip to
50:53the rescue oil this is a rosehip seed oil that's been extracted from a rare Chilean species does it
50:59work it really works we've had we've had incredible look me in the eyes and tell me it works I
51:04can tell
51:04you're not a snake oil salesman no there's a lot of competition out there in the market I'm very
51:09aware that I'd have to bring something very very interesting and very very functional performative
51:15to the market to make any kind of dent you do know that I had a skincare company yes my
51:20sugar you are
51:20preaching to the converted my dear yeah what I've forgotten about skincare you haven't even learned
51:25yeah absolutely I agree okay the thing is is that I know that I can succeed again if I wanted
51:32to
51:33and I'd need you to tell me why I should have you as my business partner because at the moment
51:39you
51:39haven't really got much of a business right yeah so in five months Kishkin has done incredibly well
51:47we've made an average of around ten to twelve thousand a month what was your costs the costs are
51:51around five thousand pounds a month and I think that's you is it it includes my assistants my warehouse
51:57staff is your warehouse staff one of you is your dad isn't it somebody my dad helps me in the
52:02warehouse here and there does a bit of packing he does he really believes in the business and he's
52:06gone viral for it and on the internet are you big on the internet I have worked really hard over
52:11the
52:11last seven years to create have you got lots of followers yes Lord sugar how many got around half a
52:17million really and what platform on tick tock and I have over 300,000 on Instagram really yes very
52:24good more than me oh right okay now Priyash let me hear about you you've got your mobile bar correct
52:34you're a mixologist um well just where did you study mixology at University of Wetherspoons or something
52:41and now I've just learned the skill at home see you're not an unintelligent person at all you've got a
52:48great
52:48job at PwC correct and then you want to leave that company and then start this mobile bar business and
52:56that's a massive risk over the years I've been doing loads of numerous events for private parties up to
53:01like 60 to 70 people but I want to go into the large corporate industries for example like there's a
53:07lot
53:07more networking events happening listen young man I admire your enthusiasm and entrepreneurialism whilst
53:14holding up a great job my advice to you is please do not give up your day job and I
53:21do sincerely wish
53:22you the very very best of luck but unfortunately it is with regret that you're fired thank you so much
53:29for the opportunity little sugar balance ready Tim if you do need cocktails do reach out to me thank you
53:35good luck guys good luck so now I have to think about the four of you that are sitting here
53:45and the potential
53:49Lawrence that's a lot of sugar I don't have any confidence in your business why put forward a business
53:56plan that has got numbers in it like 5.5 million his nonsense no trigger the one thing what okay
54:02no
54:02problem Lawrence I'm sorry to say it is big regret you're fired thank you Lord sugar thank you Baroness
54:09Brady thank you Tim has been the experience of a lifetime okay good luck guys
54:18now I've left with a bit of a dilemma I'm gonna send you three outside and then I'm gonna consult
54:24with
54:25Baroness Brady and Tim and then I'm gonna decide which two of you will be going through to the grand
54:32final off you go thank you so much well there you are young Karishma is very very impressive isn't she
54:44yeah look I like her I've liked her all along she's such a strong candidate yeah Karishma's charismatic
54:51she's really confident and if she can convince you that she's thinking as big as her chat is then
54:56maybe she could be the one and Pasha is also very impressive this would be a real start from scratch
55:03thing I think the thing that really interests me with Pasha is that she is coming as a fresh face
55:09and
55:09one of the things about the apprentice is about the opportunity to spot talent before anybody else did
55:14yeah but the confusion with Dan look it's true that Dan has got a credible business but as Claude
55:21has pointed out he has to get control of his spending he's now making a loss all right I know
55:27I'm gonna
55:28do yes listen the three of them in place okay I'll try and keep this as short as possibly can
55:49okay
55:51Krishma the good news is you are going through to the grand final thank you so much okay um
56:01and Pasha I've been there before with recruitment agencies and I've made one person a millionaire
56:06in that business and he started with nothing other than winning this and Dan I don't understand your
56:14business at all I know it's a good one somewhere I know what I've built up since you know since
56:19I was
56:20a teenager I know I've got a goal there I heard all that I've done it myself mate I've done
56:24there
56:25bin ward the t-shirt worked in the factory stuck on the production line driven the vans collected the
56:31money all that stuff so I don't want to hear any more about you started when you were 17 and
56:35all that
